What?! Last Respects is boosted by the amount of Pokémon that HAVE fainted?! Not the amount that ARE fainted?! Meaning using Revival Blessing and fainting again boosts it even further?! I didn’t know that. That’s absolutely nuts.
OK, you know what’s even crazier? Revival Blessing has one PP, so in theory with Species Clause you could have Leppa Berry Pawmot, and Leppa Berry Rabsca, for a total of four revivals and nine faints. Problem: while the move Assist is not in the game, it is in the format National Dex, and Revival Blessing is specifically coded to be callable by Assist. So suddenly the optimal strategy is to pack your team with Prankster Assist Pokémon who can only call Revival Blessing. That gives you a far larger number of revivals. The worst part? The best strategy isn’t even “get a very strong Last Respects”, it’s “make the game so boring that your opponent forfeits”. This is at least the third time Liepard has broken the game.

350* base power on a move even. I also misunderstood this, 300 is the max bonus damage, but that's on top of the 50 damage it already deals. Honestly could be cool to start it at 0 (or 1 I guess) power and see if that makes it balanced. Or they could do the more obvious and make it only grow with 25 each hit, so 100 power after being hit twice, with still the exciting top damage of 200. Gamefreak if you want me on the team call me.
I really like the idea of Last Respects, but it definitely needs a nerf. Maybe a base power of 30 would be low enough for it to not take over the entire game and just be its own, unique way to build a team. It does drastically change how you play, but so does Trick Room and that strategy always feels underutilized with how few mechanics actually benefit from it.
9:11 I don't think swagger bans are necessary in new gen because confusion chance was nerfed from 50% to 30%. You are putting yourself at a disadvantage with those odds.
It's very telling that these moves were designed specifically with the in-game formats BSS (3v3 Singles) and VGC in mind. Shed Tail there for example is more of a gimmick than anything that lets you constantly run away with wins (Cyclizar and Sceptile are genuinely bad Pokemon even with the move, and Orthworm's not much better), and Houndstone sucks even with Last Respects; it took Basculegion for the in-game formats to see an actually viable user of the move, and it's not exactly warping either format around itself. Baton Pass is also mostly a gimmick in both formats. The best move mentioned in the video as far as these formats are concerned would have to be Rage Fist, Annihilape is still very strong in those formats (at least when restricted legendaries aren't present).
The only singles megagame I have ever actually played is Anything Goes (I don't like restrictions), where everything is legal, and I don't have any problem with things like Baton Pass and Shed Tail. _Because_ this is the one place where there are no bans, almost every team you encounter is doing this (teams that try to come in and battle normally, GET OUT!!! So you can do extremely well in this metagame if you build your team around screwing up Mons that rely on stat boosts; any team that doesn't have a backup plan usually forfeits right on the spot as soon as their Cursed, Roared, Hazed, or Taunted.
The game will never be too broken as long as they do not remove Muk's signature move, Monday's Madness. It is the only thing keeping these metagames in check. Thank you.
They should ban boosting: make it +2 or +3 maximum and make it temporary, like in Lengends. Frankly, the whole battling system should just be deprecated entirely in favor of switching to Lengends' one.
Seriously? They would rather ban shed tail then let Sceptile be in ubers, which would finally convince everyone that Sceptile is good. Will the constant hate for Sceptile ever end in my lifetime? Sceptile my beloved.......
In Randbats I imagine it’s extremely situational since you’re not guaranteed to get a setup sweeper or even something that would benefit from the free sub

6:36 Sceptile got added to Scarlet and violet after the shed tail ban
I am excited to learn about pokemon moves that broke the game.
The Pokemon ‘Ariados’ has come out as bisexual. Will popular Pokemon UA-camr, Jimothy Cool support him?
That's not possible, a spider cannot possibly simultaneously be both the beheader and the beheaded
@@wj11jam78 very good point actually
@wj11jam78 No, but it can both enjoy (the thought of) dying and killing.

Mudsdale getting High Horsepower was revolutionary
Jim still coping in pain and agony about DPPt OU
I remember Tera normal eternatus in Ubers to counter the respectful fish.
Imagine if kingambit got last respects
Imagine Xerneas or Ho-oh with Revival Blessing
Jimothy whatever happened to your crazy lore drops to convince your viewers to subscribe, or are you content with the 100k you got already
They should ban boosting: make it +2 or +3 maximum and make it temporary, like in Lengends. Frankly, the whole battling system should just be deprecated entirely in favor of switching to Lengends' one.
String Shot literally broke Gen 7 games... It's raw power was too much for the world to bear
Seriously? They would rather ban shed tail then let Sceptile be in ubers, which would finally convince everyone that Sceptile is good. Will the constant hate for Sceptile ever end in my lifetime?
Sceptile my beloved.......
i wonder why shedtail is still in random battles then
In Randbats I imagine it’s extremely situational since you’re not guaranteed to get a setup sweeper or even something that would benefit from the free sub
@@yosh9192 It is not banned in randbats because they do not ban things in randbats. There are a few extreme examples that get banned (moody) but other than that nothing gets banned.
@@Streptobeep i still get flashbacks of moody glalie to this day
@ Yeah, good riddance
Somebody needs to ban this "fake gameplay" guy, he keeps on using illegal pokemon
Why tyranisif?
These pokemon moves broke me 😭
Petition for GameFreak to change Orthworm's name to, Orthworm Jim.
"Normal Type ain't what it was, it's very scarcely seen
So counterplay to Last Respects is few and far between"
How are you spitting bars like that so effortlessly?
I believe Last Respect and Rage fist were carefully design by Game Freak to be uncompetitive in smogon solo format to attract more people on VGC and BSS. Like those format are cool i like all side of competitive pokemon, but this is a lame move ngl, it's sad to trying to ruin the main battle ruleset from the game that's advertised everywere like in the anime and all
