I really like sugar too, and you can never go wrong with pb&j. I have an easy way to fold your omelet more the American way than the French trifold way. Wait until your omelet is cooked through when it is still flat in your pan. Then to plate you start sliding the flat omelet onto your plate then fold the omelet over as the second half is sliding out of the pan. Even heavier omelets with lots of filling fold well. Thanks for another great video!
Instead of flipping my omlette i always put it under the grill for a few minuteswhen its cooked underneath, saves a disaster lol and it makes the omelette so light and fluffy and it rises a little too.
That was alarming to read! I know that Jif for you must be a condiment of some sort but here in Australia it's a cream cleanser to clean the bathroom with!??! 😱
Good morning sweetheart... Just discovered your channel and watched a few of your vids, starting with the BM Bargains one... Really loved watching and will defo watch more.. I've subscribed, liked and commented as your request and I hope it helps a little bit!!!... Hope your work situation gets sorted out soon my dear, but u till them keep the vids coming!!!... Sending love and best wishes from Nottingham...xxx
Sam, quick hack to make perfect omelettes when you get to the stage you need to flip, about a minute before hand, turn on the grill. Once the grill is ready put the frying pan under the grill. Obviously turn the hand facing out wards. Pull out the pan after a minute or two and the top should be cooked. Put the pan back on the hob, let it cook for a minute or so. Get the spatula and the omelette will slide off the pan onto the plate provided you have used the spatula correctly.
Fab content and ideas as always. I sometimes add my egg in to poach in the ramen liquid just before i strain the liquid if I am not having the soup base too but poach the egg in it with the noodles
You could cook up the remaining tomatoes with a little onion, add some tamari & a big dollop of peanut butter & a little sweet chilli or some of that jam you mentioned. Toast the crumpets twice to get them a bit crisp on the surface & then pile your hot mixture on top & you have lunch.
As someone who lives close to Morrison u can get some ok stuff I've just got reduced chopped peppers 56p bag of carrots 10p and parsnips for 15p salmon head 38p Red Leicester £2.18 and chopped apples 6p with bread 41p so I spent £3.84 for a bag of food milk from farmfoods £1 so my total £4.84 i dont count the ice coffee for 79p i think that was my treat since it was hot
I used to shop at Morrisons but swapped to Tesco as they have much greater vegetarian options, the dates on fresh things are longer and they are cheaper on my weekly shop
Thank you Sam loved the end noodle sauce ,when you made your omelette you did make scrambled egg an omelette is eggs only heat butter in pan till a sizzle and pour beaten eggs into pan .x
Loving your videos, just started watching, keep up the good work. A quick tip to stop emptying an omlette all over the hob, don't try and fold it or do toss it etc, put the frying pan under the grill to cook the top, but keep the handle well out if it's plastic!!
With the omelet try without the milk. Also with crumpets you could add cheese butter garlic and hey presto most amazing garlic bread ever. Another great video Sam. Well done 😊
Hey Sam I came across your video 2 days ago and I have watched every video already, I also like ketchup on fish pie too lol people think its awful but I love it
"It does not look bad at all" sounds like a compliment 😅 OK, thanks for an interesting video again! The pancakes look very tasty 😋 I don't really know what crumpets are, we don't have such a product in Finland, but they seem to be lovely after you have processed them
I live near to Morrisons it's the nearest supermarket to me a 10 minute walk.I thought you came up with some good ideas I'm going to try the omelette. The savers range is good but they seem to have less of it now the rice pudding is nice I buy it a lot.Enjoy all your content.
As an ex pat, I am so interested in your videos! Normally Brit food is cheaper than here in the US, but your eggs are obscene in price. I can get 12 or 18 for the price you pay for 6 there. My omelettes always end up like a scrambled mess too, so don't feel bad about that lol! I miss rice pudding so much!
Get a good pan as suggested. One with a metal handle so you can finish it under a preheated grill. I make a frittata this way and it serves quite a few people. I usually have some leftover for the next day and either eat it cold or hot after zapping in the microwave.
so really 7 items for a £5. did morrisons not have the buy the one or two eggs that you can box yourself. I know that some supermarkets are doing a box of 10 or 12 for $1.68. the messy egg is mostly like how mine turns up but it still tastes good.
With the cheaper ramen you should absolutely make your own sauce if you can, otherwise you are getting a salty soup. One change I'd add to your sauce is I'd actually add the egg (uncooked) to the sauce and scramble it into the sauce, then mix into the ramen. I just find it adds a little extra texture throughout, but maybe it's me because if I see a whole boiled egg it won't survive more than a few bites of ramen. Another common trick which I'm sure you are aware of is make a soft fried egg and top the ramen with that. The joke adds a creamy rich texture and the white again a little more texture throughout. Great channel!
I used to enjoy your videos but recently you’ve been adding in more and more ‘pantry’ items…tomato sauce? Peanut butter? Jam? Honey? Soy sauce? And then you had dinner with Carolina! Not really what you can eat for a fiver anymore…just a bloke making food then…nothing new or unusual or interesting that sets your video apart from a gazillion others
With respect, as I’ve said before, this particular series isn’t a “living for a day on…” video like some others I do, but completely respect your thoughts and opinion :)
I usually would support your additions with the thought in mind that in the end you're showing "what you can buy for £5, however I think by the end of the video seeing how many extra things were used, plus a whole different dinner altogether, when you made a point to say at the start of the video that you were "trying to not use much pantry stuff" but then actually used quite a lot in the end, that did then bother me for that reason. Just to get you to see it from a different viewpoint. 🤔
Underrated channel. Surprised you do not have more subscribers. You are doing great
Cut up the leftovers crumpets and cook in the air fryer with butter and cinnamon they are great.
Trying that tomorrow!

Thank you so so much!
Rice pudding and jam is delicious 👍
Good chopsticks technique with the noodles 😊
Great video
I normally put the top side of my omelette under the grill to cook , no breakage.
Instead of flipping my omlette i always put it under the grill for a few minuteswhen its cooked underneath, saves a disaster lol and it makes the omelette so light and fluffy and it rises a little too.
I can’t fold omelettes either. I put it under the grill instead and it puffs up. Frittata or Spanish omelette I think.
Great to know! Shall try :)
Lemon Juice+ Sugar is my fav pancake topping
Top choice!
Old school. A squeeze of Jif and sugar is all you need.
That was alarming to read! I know that Jif for you must be a condiment of some sort but here in Australia it's a cream cleanser to clean the bathroom with!??! 😱
@@alwayslearning9272 In the UK jif is a little tub of lemon juice but here inOz🇦🇺it is a sink, loo cleaner 👍

Hi Sam and Caroline, I too love noodles with Sesame-Peanut Butter Sauce. with Garlic and chile....
I like what you did with the instant ramen noodles i might have to try the recipe that you did with them
My Friday favorite.
Yay you are spoiling us 🎉
I try :)

Ketchup on fish finger, rice and petit pois!
Strong Mike jeavons vibes here (compliment) 😂 all the best pal
butter and golden syrup on crumpets

Oh how I wish I didn't have a gluten intolerance... £5 at Morrisons with that buys you a pack of free from chicken nuggets and a freddo 🤣
I’ll try a budget GF sometime soon!
I'm vegan and lactose intolerant and I know I won't be buying much with a fiver
Or eggs, cheese and fresh veg?
@HoolyDooly-si2zz I do cook all my own meals. That doesn't solve the cost of vegan alternatives, though
@@SamWilder. On a budget with gf you just need to go with naturally gf items rather than the gf options, not great but the only option
Thanks
Thank you so so much!
With that much filling on the omelette I cook it separately and add at the end to the cooked omelette. And souffle omelettes are wonderful...
Smart idea! Maybe I should have done that! Never made a soufflé one!
@@SamWilder.Yeah I think the reason was the excess liquid from the tomatoes. I'd have fried them off in another pan and add them last minute.

Hi you did so well with your money amazing ❤️
Why didn't you toast your crumpets!?!? It makes them so much better!
I did!!!
@@SamWilder. you should try toasting them a bit more. they look a bit pale imo 😄
Morribobs is pricey but yea I get my fuel from there aswell good video again ❤
A good quality, non-stick frying pan will help you create an excellent omelette

Tomato ketchup in a fish finger sandwich 👍
Ooooh. Mayo every time!

Morrisons are expensive. Today Waitrose 6 eggs £1.30 normal price. Higher welfare chicken legs, really substantial £1.54.
I put vanilla into my pancakes
Crumpets are great ….. unless you have a phobia of clusters of holes …… yeah 😢 lmao 🤣
Lemon juice and sugar good
Ramen one looked ace tbh.
Thanks!!
Stick your omelette under the grill if you struggle to flip it

Sam! You will have 1,000,000 subs by June 2025
Haha that’s very kind. I can dream!
I prefer my pancakes unsugered.
Where do we draw the line at pantry ingredients? A sack of potatoes or a grain of salt?
You should never cook anything in the water you have cooked eggs in as the impurities come out of the shelf and ots not good 😥
Eek! I didn’t know!!
Never ever cook anything in boil egg water theres something that comes out shell of egg quick tip there good show.
Funny,I was under the impression that many British people are not fond of peanut butter. Nice to see it appreciated.
I love your videos, but can you please stop recording in HDR, it makes the video look extremely dark and weird looking 😢
Yeah fair. 💀 I’ll try sort it out for next time 🙏🏼

Totally agree, it’s hardly a £5 challenge
You think £1.50 is good value for 6 eggs. Are you kidding.
I refuse to buy caged 🤷🏼♂️
Trust me most places in the Western world 1.50 for 6 eggs is practically giving them away. let alone free range eggs.
1.66 for 12 free rangies at sainsburys
Great vid ❤
€3.25 (£2.79) for 6 free-range eggs in Tesco in Dublin.
