@@Zullfix did you read what I said I said this video only blew up getting almost 30M views because it's anime that song they linked will not do the same numbers because more people care about the anime than the game that is a fact
Wow. I'm still speechless after what I saw. I have yet to play the video game, but man, this was a hellova a ride. And this song hits you differently after having finished this 10-episode epic. It's a shame that Lucy and David couldn't spend more time together but he fought until the end to save her. Definitely a sleeper hit and great news for Netflix, showing them that this is the way to keep their boat afloat. Studio Trigger did an amazing job and it's no wonder why it's an acclaimed Animation studio. Can't wait for more. Thanks to everyone involved in this unforgettable anime.
Imagine you just finished watching Edgerunners and came here to find the ED for the anime only to have your heart totally wrecked for the second time. I know because that happened to me too.
There is a limit to which a heart can be teared apart. Can't blast a hole through it if it's already in there. I know because that happened to me too (and it keeps on happening).
In 4 minutes they managed to introduce a completely new character, Sasha, tell her story, make us care about her and feel devastated by her tragic fate. Bravo.
Having just finished the series, this hits me hard. A story showing a man losing what makes him human that will never truly leave me. Thank you Trigger. Thank you CD Projekt Red. And remember…you’re special…
They're also putting Dawid Podsiadlo on the map too. I didn't really listen to his songs in the game,, but they really made them shine in Edgerunner. So glad they did, I hope he gets the Shawn James treatment. Edit: Nvm, his songs weren't in the game. But still, they're really putting him on.

For those that don't understand the video, lore-wise this girl's mom was in the Unification War and was wounded somehow and took medication which ultimately killed her. Her daughter watched all this happen, grew up, and wanted revenge. She achieved a measure of it (Biotechnica still exists in V's time, a few years later) so it's unlikely much was achieved by this raid. But it did help Sasha reach closure, even if it killed her, hence why her current self was hugging her former child-self at the end.

I love how this has the same theme you see a lot in Cyberpunk/Shadowrun-type media. The moment a gig becomes personal, it's over. People who do this kind of 'runner job for a living, they measure risk pretty well and they always ensure that they have a way out (otherwise they never would have lasted long enough to become professionals) but the moment something about the case personally involves you, you can't let it go anymore. You run out the clock, you let your escape-window close without you and you start taking crazy risks. It happened to Johnny, it happened to Sasha, it happened to V.
@@ultar473 Ya know thinking on it, even when Maine's need to protect and care for his team drove him to cyberpsychosis... it never drove him to purposely hurt David. The only person he ever hurt was Kiwi (who ended up betraying David.) Even Doria was just shot and killed by a police officer. And when David came to try and get him out, Maine was surprisingly lucid despite what was happening in his head. And the moment he realized David was going to die next to him he just about snapped out of it fully to tell David to "Keep Running"
I kinda skipped this game since it launched with a bunch of bugs and basically got bad press, but I'm fuckin' down for this kind of storytelling. Should I check it out?
Before: Ah this looks like a fun action packed "turn your brain off" anime to watch after work After: How tf can fictional animated characters make me so emotional 😭😭😭😭😭 I don't think I've ever felt this emotional and stirred up after fictional content like a game, movie, show whatever... it's an incredible feeling that they made this hir so hard but so sad... classic example of wishing I never watched this masterpiece... Amazing show, one of the best anime ever made, this is an experience not to be missed. This one really stuck with me all the time and the song is so bitter sweet and romantic man... CD and Trigger nailed this one perfectly. I love how they portrayed Night City as incredibly dangerous and you can just get your head blown off at any minute and life is so fragile and people just *poof, and they're gone... And it's amazing that they stayed true to the Cyberpunk lore as well with UI, text font, aesthetic, places, guns, people/gangs, cyberware etc etc... You can tell so much love and passion was put into the show to show these details. 10/10! I loved all the characters in the gang but to be honest David was starting to act like an a$$hole to the end of the show and even though he's got everyone telling him to stop pushing the limits of his body or he'll go cyberpsycho he still does it anyway to fulfil his egotistical pride and deadpan mindset, and things turned out tragic. He's a likeable character but he really doesn't deserve Lucy honestly since she basically begged for him to stop to save his life and he not only doesn't understand but threatens to break up which hurts Lucy... What a a$$hole! Lucy really did love him and he's probably the only thing that ever really mattered to her. It was very sweet yo see them living together in the luxury apartment, it was so wholesome, Lucy seemed like she just wanted a simple life with David but David chose otherwise... I think the reason Lucy fancied David in the first place is because he was a very innocent, natural and "organic" person and wholesome, amidst all the cyber chaos, corpo scheming, gang wars and nasty business, David was a person she could feel easy with. But later on she realised that David has embarked on a forsaken cyber route and yet still loves him, that's what makes her a keeper. I think despite this being a bunch of fictional characters and only 10 episodes, it deeply explores the human condition. Very impressive honestly. He also doesn't deserve Rebecca too lol. I think this show does a great job showing the downfall of a person who strives to hard for power and abandons his humanity and what matters to him, and no one could stop him in place in ruining himself... He's a heroic idiot who witnessed how bad going insane is with all these modifications but still couldn't resist his spiral down, it's quite a tragic story since the developers are really good at making feel attached to characters and then ripping them away painfully...😣🤨 Anyways the show really did made you FEEL so many emotions by the end. Sadness, melancholy, emptiness etc etc... 😫 .......
@@mingyuhuang8944 David was driven by his good nature and his desire to make it big, something that Night City instills in people on a very basic level. The wish is always there, it's even a promise the city makes to you. You CAN make it big... the price is just very very high. David got lost on his journey, he lost sight of what mattered to him in the beginning. His mother, his friends, his good nature. He fought for his beliefs until he too was corrupted by Night City. Towards the end we see him struggle with it. He recognizes what he has become and it torments him but he can't stop. He hasn't "won" yet. He hasn't yet made it big *enough*. Lucy on the other hand did exactly as you said, she fell in love with David for his innocence and positive outlook on life. She saw in him what she never saw in other people, a good-hearted, innocent person that just wanted to live their life. Lucy was trapped in her life of crime and David looked like a way out. A way to reclaim some normalcy. Sadly their paths diverted towards the end. They both had something to finish, something to do, some middle finger to give to the corporations and gangs that hounded them their entire life. It broke both of them but it broke David the most. He went psycho over it. My personal theory is that cyberpsychosis doesn't actually exist. It's just psychosis. Most cyberpsychos have a LOT of emotional trauma that never gets processed. Instead, it keeps piling on because of their lifestyle. That, paired with the sense of superiority and "loss of reality" inherent to massive cyber-augmentation leads to them losing track of who they really are and what's really important in life. They become weapons, aiming themselves at whatever they think is a danger to them and their goals. We see this in David. Random people sprouting weapons out of their bodies, aimed at him. He feels constantly threatened, even by those who pose no danger to him. He's completely lost in his life of violence. There is no more life without violence for him. So when he, at the very end of his journey, reclaims what little humanity he had left and fights the only fight worth fighting, the fight for his friends and his family, he can die with a smile. Sane. Himself. Leaving Lucy behind, who had no means to drag him out of the swamp he walked into. Yet it isn't his fault entirely. Many people fucked up on the way, Lucy too. She was the one who introduced him to the cyberpunk lifestyle in the first place. She tolerated his steady corruption. She withdrew herself when he needed her the most. There is no blame game to play with this series. Everyone fucked up. Noone is innocent. Noone is without fault. That's the core concept of the modern Cyberpunk setting, the world's gone downhill too much for people like David and Lucy to have a happy ending.
@@mingyuhuang8944 Have you tried Nier Automata? Cause there is a deeper rock bottom to be explored and if you don't wanna play the game, there is an anime adaptation in the making.
You portrait David as someone who totaly lost it, but he lost it to win what he wanted, he had never his own dream until his dream became to fulfill Lucy's dream, which he does at terrible cost. But he die so she can be free again from arasaka and finally landed on moon. He knew he is going to edge of cyberpsychosis BUT he also knew its only way to fulfill Lucy dream, with money for his last gig and money they saved up(in one scene doctor asked him if he does not want better gear instead of fixing but he rather wanted reminder of Maine because it was enough for job done and he don't want to waste money) he had enough to go to moon and have a nice life there with Lucy, he just could not know that kiwi betray him and Lucy.
I don't think so, here is my perspective. David was carried away by the dreams of his mother first. Second, after she passed away, he tries to find somewhere to belong. Third, he found himself in the middle of cyberpunks and, in a way or another, he felt empathy toward them for inumeral reasons. Lucy was only a sweet dream, one that he cannot flee or get away, always being atracted by her and that what love is meant to be. Forth, Maine death leaves david with a void inside himself, another dream of someone's who's now dead and in the twist of the drama he loses his way thinking, " if it was him, who's special, things would be different". Things would end in happier manner. But of course that was not what happen. "only this much to go to the moon, how cheap" - was what david says when he was in his most fragile moment watching tv, always thinking about dreams of another and not himself. He's not egoistic, really! He's way too altruistic and that was the cause of his death, living the dream of another.
there's a lot of truth to that. After all, births are rarely celebrated because no one knows who you are, but death comes after a lifelong accumulation of acts, good or bad. And only by dying can you prove that you were once alive
@@zenmode3125 I really want to stay at your house hits different after Edgerunners because of the excited tune but the sad memories relating to it. This song just straight up hits you with depression From both the song and visuals.
It's true to the original undertone of old Cyberpunk: everything have a price. And the city itself will always collect. "A happier ending, for folks like us? Wrong City. Wrong people."
Lucy said cyberpunks will be remembered how by how they die instead of how they lived, so she doesn’t want David to become one. However, in the end she remembers David by how he lived not how he died, even though David became a cyberpunk after all. Doc said after using up all the strengthened meds he gave David, no matter how special David is he was bound to lose himself. However, even after using all the meds, Lucy managed to help David remain himself by kissing him. Lucy was David’s last dose of medicine.
No doubt thinking, if only he had been faster, stronger, if his augs were just a little bit better, if he pushed the edge of his hardware, maybe he wouldn't have missed something...
Likely as Dustin said, between the guilt and the rationing. Likely when his cyberpsychosis kicked in. It's not just the chrome that causes you to lose it. The added stress the chrome causes to the body/brain isn't super helpful. It's also the emotional scars, the PTSD, survivor's guilt, the pressure the continue to out perform the competition, the pressure to get that next best contract, the fear of relying on others, the fear of failing. Pondsmith said something similar.
Seriously i think they had a super close group cause in the beginning they only had 4 in the group. and that look and wave at 0:22 Sasha must have been like a daughter figure to him like how David becomes a son figure later.
This could also explain why Maine became a bit more protective over David. Faraday described him as being the type to become attached to his team, and it really seemed like he was trying very hard to keep David safe but still on board. Could be from the trauma he experienced from this tragic event.
@@jiminycricket2952 it is canon, it serves as a prequel to the anime. Kiwi comes to replace Sasha as their main netrunner. Then Lucy joins, and shortly after David.

@@skell6134 RedEngine is probably one of the reasons why the game turned out to be so shitty. Having your own game engine is a very costly thing and requires very skilled people to maintain it. Given the amount of jank and bugs still present I am pretty sure that they've had a lot of issues adapting it for CP2077 and dropping support for it earlier than originally planned. I wouldn't be surprised if they do another CP game with UE after the next Witcher game. I think as a franchise there's definitely potential. Hopefully with better modding support then as well. UE is already an open platform, so it's very much up to CDPR to allow and support it.
That episode where Maine goes full Cyberpsycho is super intense, after that episode ends and this song comes on has me sobbing like a baby thinking about how David was feeling in that moment. Maine was not only a parental figure after Gloria died, the father David never had, and also his teacher/mentor. Watching him Loosing his mind, killing his lover Dorio, slapping David around, dieing I front of David right after his mom, and David coming out of it with just his arms and that silent drive home afterwards, that shit was so fucking brutal.
Yes... and yet Johnny contradicts himself saying he's not against capitalism. I don't know why but that line in the game hit me very hard. I mean the whole 2077 is about megacorps (as one of pinnacles of development of capitalism) exploiting and then throwing people in the trash but still writers don't have guts to say what was that all about. Players aren't dumb and we get the idea anyway but Johnny sometimes acts illogically.
@@aulendor4639 Indeed, people can go astray by blaming "Night City" alone, as if it's not actually an issue of the economic system itself. Extreme capitalism, aka anarco-capitalism, leads to a dystopia. But that's the whole point of the cyberpunk genre, though.
It fits the theme still, the Cyberpunk-themed worlds are cursed somewhat. It is The End of History, where the Democracy of fooled and Capital of the Ultra destroy the world in a weird symbiosis. The one weird thing is that there's also aliens in 2077 setting, and they may be used as scapegoats for all the problems of Capitalism and etc.
This isn't depressing. It's optimistic! It takes the happenings of the past few years and lets you imagine that a hopeful rebel could stand up and fight it like a hero. In the real world this story got covered by the news she sent it to, with a pillow, until it stopped moving.
@@SymmetricalDocking you're wrong, that's just an illusion. No single rebel can shake this world and that's the whole story. Jonny literally nukes Arasaka tower and nothing changed 50 years later. Edgerunners is the same, you only see the chrome on the surface, not the tragic emptyness under the hood. David is a tragic figure, he tries to help everyone get their dreams, dies for it and leaves only one person behind and she's heart broken by his pointless death. He starts as a generous kind kid and end up a cyberpsycho. This is a perfect mirror in reality to toxic masculinity, getting raised to ignore our personal feelings to sacrifice ourselves in the name of heroism while actually being used and discarded and unable to live our own lives. I personally went through all that shit, have more scars than body parts for real, even lost 1/3 of a lung. There are so many appreciative comments about the Edgerunner series (rightfully so), but can we talk about how beautifully animated and directed this MV is? It tells us the story of Sasha, Maine's netrunner before Kiwi and Lucy. She had lost her mother presumably due to illness and, like David, was sucked into the life of a Cyberpunk. She had lived her life peering through the kaleidoscope of Night City, captivated by its glamor and promises; but try as she might to create her own happiness amid its shimmer (2:42) she could never shake the anguish of losing her kin. During a Biotechnica gig, she learns the truth about the "Securicine" painkillers her mother took while serving the military. It killed her through "gradual neurodegeneration" - a side effect undisclosed to the public to keep profits flowing. Sasha determines to leak this information at the cost of her life, holding valiantly against the security bots until the upload was complete. Did her tip truly make a difference? Hardly. Biotechnica remains a monolithic mega enterprise, ever-present in both game and anime. And so the life of an evidently vibrant, vivacious girl burns away, and her dream of bringing down the system along with it. Just like David, just like Johnny Silverhand, and countless others in Night City. But it gave her some closure at least (3:56) You can see her older self comforting her younger self as she flatlines with a smile on her face. She was finally free. _Forgive me for letting you down_ _Forgive me for letting you down again_ _I guess I'm not strong enough_ _Right now_ _They will finally feel the flames_ _Flames that run down through my veins_ _I will make the city burn_ _We're not planning to return_
the fact that they told a whole character story in just the ending theme seriously blew my mind....specially since I didn't even know she was there as I would skip right to the next episode o.O
Imagine if the second season tells her story. How Maine isn't super chromed up and turning cyberpsycho yet. That the death of this character and his inability to prevent it drives Maine to chrome up. That all of this happens before David joins their crew. Effectively building an entire season prequel through what was once just the end credits of each episode.
From these 4 minutes idk it makes me emotional . Her discovering the reason why her mother’s health was slowly declining and eventually passed away . And making the decision to stay to upload the information/side effects that they were keeping confidential from the public . And her present self hugging her child self like she finally got closure to why her mom passed away was just the icing on top and the OST is perfect to go with it too. Such a beautiful story in such short time …

@@Buckeqzq The girl's name appears to be Sasha Galina. Judging by the characters we see, (Rebecca, Dorio, & Maine) my best guess is that she met Maine way before Lucy came around. But the reason why you never seen her in Edgerunners is because she died before Lucy, David, and possibly Gloria's (David's Mom) introduction. I don't even think she was referenced in all ten episodes. And because of that, its hard to say if Sasha & the events that happened are canon to the Edgerunners storyline.
Exactly.... I just wish Sasha was in Edge Runners. This music video is the only incite we get of this unknown character and it's a shame. She looked so compelling.
@ Yeah I really don’t understand why they’d create this “side quest” of a character that actually may have had a big impact on the show. Just from this clip there is an entire storyline that could develop from her since it shows us the massive amount of loss and feelings of revenge that she feels without giving away much of why she feels that way. It creates a cliff hanger and anticipation that’s for sure

I feel like that's David talking to Lucy about wanting her to pursue her dream of going to the moon, regardless of whether or not she's able to bring him with her. The whole song is pretty much just him apologizing that he couldn't keep his promise of returning to her alive.
In 4 minutes, they've done a better job telling a story and making you care about the character than most hollywood movies these days, some of which can't even do that during their total runtime. I'm in tears.
I feel like this vid and the anime both really excel in focusing on character's emotions, then giving you the viewer juuust enough hard context to make it land and let you fill in the rest. Hits so much harder than focusing on the details and letting you fill in the emotions like a lot of movies do
Yeah, it's like "Still feeling sad after Edgerunners? Here's another punch to the guts." Didn't even know this existed. It's an amazing ending for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Dawid Podsiadło has composed a beautiful song that conveys a lot of melancholy, this series has a certain resemblance to the Goodfellas movie.
I agree that it is impressive, animation, song, art, and color, it's fantastic... But it is more than just the ending theme, this animation is kinda a prequel, If you watch the whole anime probably will get it :3. Maybe I'm inventing it, but It's Trigger, so probably all is calculated :3
Dawid Podsiadło is one of the most popular and acclaimed young music artists in Poland nowadays. I'm glad he is now aiming at gaining international fame with this song. Having been familiar with his discography I can say with confidence that he will certainly succeed in this endeavour. That is what I wish for him with all my heart.
This is one of those series it's hard to move on from after finishing, you just keep going back to that city even though you saw the ending coming from a mile away.
And that’s the tragedy that cyberpunk is trying to tell. Even though V, David, Sasha, Rebecca, Mayne, Johnny, Rouge, Smasher, and more know exactly how every story ends. They keep going back. They think they are special. That nightcity won’t win. Night city will always win.
That's what they so masterfully pull off in FFXIV as well. Music can condition us, can emotionally impact us. We're slowly wrapped up in strings and when the time comes, the composer and storyteller have us in their web, ready to be destroyed by beautiful pieces of music with so much impact.
I love how this actually adds additional layer of Maine's personality aswell. Visually shows the very heart warming and humanity side of him. Just like in the Edgerunners, he mourns the loss of hes family.
maine was always shown as being heart warming and very human, compared to the rest of the cast he was the most human to me, even more then David and Lucy. They did that to make his fall to insanity so much more extreme, ep 6 was brilliant.
The saddest part about Cyberpunk is the fact that some of the shit that happens in that world happen in real life too. Companies lying to the public about health risks and side effects, artificial manipulation of costs for necessary products, and nobody with the power to stop them.
I mean.. Thats why the cyberpunk Genre exists. IT was a projected anticipation of our current trajectory, The genre as a whole was essentially seeing the writing on the wall, and simply expressing it in artistic form. so its less that its sad this shit happens In real life too, and more sad that people have known about stuff like this for over 40 years, and been essentially writing sci fi warnings of it, and nothing has changed in that time.

Ladies, gentlemen: If there ever was a good storyboard with a compelling story told in under 5 minutes, this is it. This is a masterpiece in storytelling. In only short 4 minutes and 43 seconds, the story introduces a new character, makes you care about it, and makes you suffer with their fate. A Mastercraft right here.
I cared until she flashbanged security robots (who could just close a shutter over their cameras) and convinced them despite their programming they had a psyche that could be affected by cyberpsychosis. Not an ounce of human meat anywhere in the assailants. Really REALLY good past that...glaring wtf moment at the pivotal plot point. Literally just had to switch the cyberpsychosis quick hack with short circuit but nOoooooOooO it has to be the edgy one that doesn't make sense for fan fic reasons
Not gonna lie, At first I thought the ending was just bad but I realize that David's main goal was to reach the top of the city in terms of power and respect. Every time he looks at his mothers ashes he remembers what his mom wanted for him before she died, and even though he is hurting himself and ignoring the warnings of others, he wanted to make her dream come true at any cost. As proof there was that one scene where David is standing on the highest floor of the tallest building in his exoskeleton feeling fulfilled in his moms dream. To add on, even though both David and Lucy were both pushing towards their goals and finally achieved them, they found new meaning in each other along the way, and realized that the love they had was more important than what both of them initially cared about, but by the time they realized that, they were already too deep into their main objective to live that way. David as well as Lucy had already gotten too deep into cyber technology side effects and organized crime by the time they wanted to truly be together. In the end, to make the best of a bad situation, David completed his mothers dream and fulfilled his promise for Lucy's dream to go to the moon by freeing her from the life of crime they put themselves into. If David never got involved, Lucy would have been tied down her whole life as a tool, never being able to achieve her dream, and at the same time, if Lucy never got involved, David would have been in poverty suffering his whole life trying to live up to his dead moms impossible dream. In other words, they both helped each other get what they always wanted at the cost of their love for each other.
Thanks for this man. I was wondering all night why the author have decided to make Lucy survive just to be all alone in the moon like that. I always preferred for David and Lucy to be together until the bitter end and go all out with a bang but now this explanation explains it all
This was beautifully said man, I couldn't have said it better myself. I was blown away when I first saw the Edge Runners trailer. It hyped me up so much. But to be honest, in the back of my mind I was a little scared thinking the initial hype trailer wasn't going to live up to the very high expectations I set for the anime show. However, I was dead wrong. This 10 episode anime lived up to my expectations and far exceeded them. I loved watching every single episode, from start to finish. You know the show is amazing when you start developing feelings for the characters and you feel some type of way when something happens to them. I was so torn and heartbroken in the end when David and Lucy couldn't end up together. I haven't played the Cyberpunk game since it first released, and it felt so nice returning to this universe again. There's something so beautiful, special and unique about the Cyberpunk lure/universe that you can't find anywhere else. I'am truly honored to have been able to witness and be a part of David's tale and I hope to see more amazing things revolving this futuristic universe.
I think David also never shook the statement that Lucy and a lot of other mercs made, about your legacy being how you die, rather than how you live. I think he tried to convince himself that that wasn't the case, but he kept seeing it reinforced over and over as he watched his friends and associates die. If he wanted to live and fulfill Lucy's wish of going to the moon and moreso for him not to die, he'd give up his mom's wish of him being successful. I think he chose the latter because he was already too far down the merc's path to return to society, especially with the cyberware eating him. This way he could give Lucy everything he had, giving her the trip to the moon, and his legacy would remain both in NC overall and specifically with Lucy, as we see she still has his memory with her.
Dont know man....i think for lucy case she choose to stay with david but falco take her for david final request to him.....she have no choice but to flee from david last moment against her will....(the moon already last side quest for her....)
I think you got them slightly wrong with the way I understood things. Since ep6 Lucy didn't care about the moon anymore she found her new goal with David. That is why she was so afraid of him going back and to die with Maine. After she found that Arisaka was after him from the info in Tanaka about him. She spend her entire purpose after that trying to protect him. On the other side David became too invested in reaching her goals for the moon and to somewhat extend his mother's goal. He never tryed to achieve his own goals. Both of them failed to communicate this to each other. Lucy only went to the moon to complete his promises to her. For her David was her moon hence the last ep title.
@@firespark5048 when? I'm generally curious because several show synopses online and my eyes tell me she was shot by others. He thinks he shot her so again curious
@@richardwirtz2997 Yeah, she got to dodge Maine's shot, but couldn't do the same with the incoming fire from the cops, resulting in her death by them after injecting Maine his immunosuppressants
The saddest thing of cyberpunk final scene is that even if Lucy realises her dream, she didn't realised it completely. In the moment she shared her dream with David, he became a part of it (she lost anyway). In this world there are only death, betrayels and sadness. What an amazing show!!!
it was never about the moon itself, but being free from the feeling of oppression she felt her whole life, and ironically the time she felt most free was when she was with david, and then he died.
That's exactly why i almost would have been happier with an ending where they both die (dont get me wrong, the ending was just great and it really made sense to end this way), its just that i would have felt easier knowing that if they both died, no one of them would have to keep on living without the other, almost feels like it would be worse than death, to keep on living like that...
yeah... The end is too sad. If I had known it would end like this, I wouldn't have watched so.If they don't revive David, then somehow I don't want to watch to see the death of another good character. Pity him
@@Максим-л4щ7и As far as I'm aware, there are no plans for a second season. And the ending to the anime fits with the endings to the game. Very bittersweet. @@ScarletwingRuri tbh even smasher was likeable a little bit in the final battle, he says to David that "it was kinda fun" or something, a bit of respect and humanity even from that monster who just a puppet as well
4:01 I love this part where it shows that she's dead, but the droplet of the rain poured to her left eye, and it dripped down as if she was crying. The way of storytelling, symbolism, and deliverance is just chefs' kiss and yet tragic. She didn't get to cry, but the rain helped her portray what she was feeling at the hands of death... RIP Sasha.
And then, several viewings later, I noticed the rando on his phone (likely with his insurance company, about his just wrecked car) splashing some more real world shenanigans in our cyberpunk. :D

I don't mean to say this in a negative light, not at all ! But Even the way Edge runners have ended was predicated on the canon of the game. For ex, If Smasher is alive in the game, you sure as hell won't kill him or even escape him in a story bout some choom that think they're special. Before: Ah this looks like a fun action packed "turn your brain off" anime to watch after work
After: How tf can fictional animated characters make me so emotional 😭😭😭😭😭
I don't think I've ever felt this emotional and stirred up after fictional content like a game, movie, show whatever... it's an incredible feeling that they made this hir so hard but so sad... classic example of wishing I never watched this masterpiece...
He's a heroic idiot who witnessed how bad going insane is with all these modifications but still couldn't resist his spiral down, it's quite a tragic story since the developers are really good at making feel attached to characters and then ripping them away painfully...😣🤨
Anyways the show really did made you FEEL so many emotions by the end. Sadness, melancholy, emptiness etc etc... 😫
.......
You aren't meant to end up the hero in Night City. You're meant to be a legend. Legends only get their love when they're gone.
"Its not how you live, its how you die." - from Edgerunners. Think that sums up the world of cyberpunk pretty well.
there's a lot of truth to that. After all, births are rarely celebrated because no one knows who you are, but death comes after a lifelong accumulation of acts, good or bad. And only by dying can you prove that you were once alive

Imagine if the second season tells her story. How Maine isn't super chromed up and turning cyberpsycho yet. That the death of this character and his inability to prevent it drives Maine to chrome up.

@@spacefe4rless984Because of Night City it is the true enemy

No one wins in Night City.
Aside from V. Maybe.
The saddest thing of cyberpunk final scene is that even if Lucy realises her dream, she didn't realised it completely. In the moment she shared her dream with David, he became a part of it (she lost anyway). In this world there are only death, betrayels and sadness. What an amazing show!!!
The show that ruined the atmosphere of the game, continue in the same spirit :)
"the only things that truly exist in this reality are merely pain, suffering, and futility".- Madara
In the world where you get happiness, but it leads to death.
it was never about the moon itself, but being free from the feeling of oppression she felt her whole life, and ironically the time she felt most free was when she was with david, and then he died.
*Can we just appreciate that Mike Pondsmith gave us this universe?*
1:40 Did anyone check the columbarium in game for this?
I have and they're both there now
Okay, I just came back from watching the ending:
I totally did not expect it to hit me that hard...
You're not sure if you should be happy or sad. I quite enjoy when something can force me to sit and process everything I've just watched/played, and both anime and game did that for me.
@@Максим-л4щ7и That gives reason to go back and play again, To SMASH the smasher even harder.
@@ScarletwingRuri tbh even smasher was likeable a little bit in the final battle, he says to David that "it was kinda fun" or something, a bit of respect and humanity even from that monster who just a puppet as well
@@tuskepeter4125 Not to me, he will be likeble if he didn't kill Rebecca.
RIP Sasha.
Tak to prawda :(
And then, several viewings later, I noticed the rando on his phone (likely with his insurance company, about his just wrecked car) splashing some more real world shenanigans in our cyberpunk. :D
Out of every symbolism, you found the most generic overused "symbol", congratulations.
@@bigbacc2188 shhhhhhh, let people enjoy things.

That fall out the window was such a tribute to iconic Ghost in a Shell moment. But the ending was all the Cyberpunk's.

I was thinking of Breaking The Habit by Linkin Park. Though that itself could have been a reference idk.
After finishing the game and the anime multiple times I can truhly say...
I will never emotionally recover
Just finished the series - sincerely hoping for another one. Great story and fantastic animation. A bloodbath of neon and some heartstrings pulled as well. Enjoy the trip!
Yeah, been thinking that this can't be it. So, so many stories to be told.
We need more.
@@PeterBoddy there is enough lore so definitely and they should
@@PeterBoddy Morgan Blackhand has been missing for a long chunk of time in the timeline. A show to confirm whether or not he survived his duel with Adam Smasher would be cool. Bonus points if they can get Keanu back as Johnny one more time.
I don't mean to say this in a negative light, not at all ! But Even the way Edge runners have ended was predicated on the canon of the game.
For ex, If Smasher is alive in the game, you sure as hell won't kill him or even escape him in a story bout some choom that think they're special.
I don't particularly mind the way it ended, within the narrative goal it was really good. I just don't really want to see that again, and again.. like a story can only get so dark and gloomy without it actually turning to a cry fest for no reason other then for you to cry, i don't say this was it-.
Just Don't forget, The ticket to the moon is one way...

A city like any other...just bigger
Reading this comment took me right back to the vibe I remember the beginning of the game having, it’s crazy how much the game flipped my impression of its world, vibes, and story throughout my whole play through.
I think this song perfectly goes along side "I really want to stay at your house". The former being sang by Lucy at the beginning of edgerunners, and "Let you down" being sang by David at the end.
The lyrics are sad
And the song's sung by an actual David, too. Perfection
u can get this as a mod for cyberpunk w the music and video on the main menu after the intros and there is a version where it splits to this fire when all the action happens. I have that version

I'm honestly happy cyberpunk is gonna start getting some well deserved attention now. I don't think there's been a single bad mainstream cyberpunk story recently and this backs it up.
Mute sucked. But even then it wasn't super mainstream. Just one of those background noise flicks you stumble upon on Netflix.
@@delsinrowe2014 I never saw that, is it bad in a funny way or literally just the background movie you put on when hanging out with friends?
Do you know what happens to things that become mainstream? They get worse. Do you really want worse content just because it's got a larger audience now?
@@mrbigglezworth42 just hope that even if it's become mainstream, they take their time making it.

The malfunction and tear that runs from her eyes at 4:00 is just the cherry on top of an absolutely beautiful story. This hits way harder after watching Edgerunners. The character design of Sasha is just so perfect. Cute. Adorable. Beautiful. Dead too soon and knowing Night City that leak never went anywhere.
