the saddest part is that her dream changed from "i want to go to the moon" to "i want us to go to the moon together" but now shes there, alone. its a special kind of hell. i wouldnt be surprised if we learn in a latter show or game that she decided to go to the crater where she sat with David in the BD, took a seat, and popped the air seals on her suit just to put an end to it. after all, there are no happy endings in cyberpunk

@@aniquinstark4347 kinda yes kinda no. It was made by Gainax sure, but literally everyone on the ttgl team moved to trigger after declaring bankrupcy or something like that
Same goes for Lucy, David changed her life as well. You can see that she can, for at least a few fleeting moments, finally feel innocence again and lets go of that hard exterior.
That whole artistic effect of Lucy literally putting David back together with her hands so he came to his senses is just pure genius. Same with how we see David on the moon with her, only for him to blink out of existence. No fade away, no cut away to nothing, just snap and gone. It hits you with the reality he’s dead and it’s gut wrenching.
When Lucy sees David on the Moon she is actually seeing him, when she and he used the Moon simulation for the first time, she enjoyed the moment so much that she recorded it literally in her memory, so when she went to the Moon, she activated a kind of simulation or virtual hologram of David in the memory that she kept long ago, she is really seeing him. That is why when the recording ends he disappears completely, since it is the only thing that is left of him now. This series has everything it takes to end people's emotional health 🤧

@@KingShibe i find it very amusing that the song is more deeply associated with the anime than the game. i don't think i even knew about it before the anime came out, so i thought it was made _for_ lucy, david, or lucy/david, so i was wondering why it was called "I Really Want to Stay at Your House" [cuz i thought it implied smth about their relationship]
@@gamelian I mean, Smasher and corporations aint saints, but David and Rebecca knew how they lives gonna end. Live by a sword, die by a sword. Lucy was the one that tried to escape from that life and managed (thanks to David sacrafise, but still)
I just watched it a few days ago and man I have never been so emotionally hurt from a show before. This is the first time a show has ever made me sob for hours 😭
It feels that way at first. But after the hurt the way I think about it; you realize that David gave his life purpose by living it to the utmost for Lucy and her peace. Most of the people in Night City are just trying to keep going, staying ahead of the rat race. But many just end up dying like David's mother, and thus cut short from ever realizing their potential. Then so many more just don't care to find a dream to strive for and just strap their loins in for a brain-dance even out in public. You see some of those folk out in daylight as David walks to school... He found something he wanted to live for, and did everything in his power to bring it into reality. So many of us today would consider ourselves lucky to find a dream that fills us with so much determination as to give the middle finger to death itself.
Did anyone else notice that David never really had any aspirations other than chasing other people's dreams? His mother wanted him to go to Arasaka and climb the corpo ladder, so David was fixated on that dream. He then wanted Lucy to follow her dreams, so he fixated on making her dream come true... Such a tragic character, honestly. :(
@@nonuvurbeeznus795 but everyone he cared about is dead. His mom didn't let him have his own dream, but imposed hers onto him. He was codependent on his mother and later developed similar relationships with Lucy and Maine. We can only hope that Lily and Falco grew from the experience, but dreams of those he loved are gone. It's really tragic.
Saddest thing? The mother's dream was basically to burn herself out by working too hard, so her son would have a shot at something better. If you wonder where David picked up his self-sacrificing attitude, you probably don't need to look too far. As for Lucy, I don't know how much of a dream going to the Moon actually was. Her default reaction to overwhelming adversity was always to cut losses, run and hide. Moon was just the farthest away she could imagine getting from Arasaka and the hellhole of Night City. What she really wanted was to live with the one person she really cared about, but in fixating on her dream David kind of missed that. She did eventually get to the Moon, but could only think of him.
It's really rare for a 12-episode anime to influence a community of gamers who hate the game for being buggy, to re-try and go back in the game and love it more than it ever was.
I absolutely gave the game a try because of how good the anime was. Loved it! They've improved it so much, hoping to pick up Phantom Liberty over the holidays
think it may be the only time its ever happened, cant think of a single other game that was a massive failure only to become one of the most played games on steam after an anime was released telling a bit about its world.
I honestly never understood why Cyberpunk got so much hate, when literally the same thing happened when Skyrim was released and it's celebrated as one of the greatest games of all time. Just don't buy big massive open world games on release date! Never do that! Of course it's gonna be full of bugs. Wait half a year or even a year until it has been patched to the point it's playable and then buy it. I played Skyrim in 2013, and Cyberpunk in 2022. Never had any big problem with either game and loved them both. Skyrim for the overall athmosphere, the world, the music, the amount of shit you can do, and for being my first real massive open world game, and Cyberpunk for the story, characters and overall feeling of Night City. I just started playing again due to the most recent DLC and am happy to have an excuse to return. Btw. I loved the anime BECAUSE I love the game. I don't even know how it must feel for people who aren't familiar with the setting, the lore or the vocabulary.
Saw this anime today and i've never been interested in this anime, but this song made me watch it and at the end i cried so much. David and Lucy deserved better 😭
The first time you hear it, it sounds so romantic and sweet, thinking about what a lovely sweet moment that lucy and david share and then you hear it again at the end and it just crushes you with how much they've lost.
I first heard this song before the anime because of Spotify, then I looked up why the cyberpunk official playlists was updated and found the anime..... When I first heard the song it gave me a bittersweet sad but sorta hinting at being happy.... Then the show
24 hours ago this song was on my Gym playlist. Last night I watched Edgerunner for the first time. This morning at the gym I had to skip it, ain't nobody trying to cry while they workout.

I think what makes the series ending hurt so bad is the feeling of emptiness. Usually, in series like this, the hero would die after accomplishing something major, like changing or saving the world, or even taking down the big bad guy. But none of that happened. If David had even managed to take Adam Smasher with him, the ending wouldn't have felt quite so bitter. In the end, it really feels like they accomplished nothing. Even Lucy's dream of going to the moon seems empty and pointless in the end. And I think what really makes David so tragic, falling in line with his guilt at failing to live up to his mother and Maine's expectations, is that he fails to live in the end, which was all Lucy really wanted. Well done, Studio Trigger. It's been a really long time since a show has punched me in the gut like this.
@@B1g_B0sssss I would to see a small, official short where they show us how Lucy is doing. Seeing how she's getting on without David, maybe still hurting but figuring out how to make it through each day. I feel like that might bring me much needed closure.
The magic of this song is undeniable. The first time you hear it, it fills you with a sense of romance. But now, whenever I hear it, it just feels so melancholic and sad. It's amazing how music can evoke such different emotions at different times in our lives.
I literally thought the same thing. I binged the whole thing in the last 2 days, my very first time. The first time I heard this I was smiling and so happy for them, it was so wholesome. Now the song breaks me. I love it.
The Cyberpunk Edgerunner series also changed the perspective of the song as well. Back in the past people thought it was just some good song to hear. But then the anime gets released and people see it as a sad song to listen to 🥲
Watched the anime and still stop/slow down the ride I'm in just to listen to the song. Even with, or maybe because of the tragedy, there's a bittersweet nostalgia to it. Have to stop and listen to it. Once the song ends, back to beating people in the face with Gorilla Arms + Sandevistan
Was heart breaking when David during his CyberPsychosis shouting for his mom that he is the top of Arasaka building. He was totally lost at the time before Lucy came and got him mind back
Playin Cyberpunk for the first time, and well... Nothing prepares you for the feels when this song randomly comes on in a street corner, or in your car radio.
Especially with the show looking so alike to the game, like you can go to the same spot they were at on the rooftop. And all the details are just like in the game. This song just randomly plays on a street corner and I just freeze in the game and stare at the view infront of me and it’s like ”am I in the game or the show right now?!?”
Thanks bro I've been wanting to do so much stuff for the longest time I'll be real this comment has giving my inspiration to do everything I wanted to do.
The problem with David was he followed everybody else's dreams. His mom's dream of being at the top of Arasaka,Lucy's dream of going to the moon. What about what he wanted? Btw, Rebecca was better for him than Lucy and there's nothing that would change my mind over it.
"You know you didn't lose your self control", this line hits so hard knowing that David even at the very end never loss himself to cyberpsychosis like Maine did. Lucy was able to bring him back even if it was short lived. So much story in only 10 episodes, truly well made.
@@thaloh Eh, I personally think it should've been 12-13 episodes. The 10 episodes encapsulated and told what it needed/wanted to, but an extra 2-3 episodes for character growth and expounding character relations would've been nice.

@nathanbecerrma4537 Nah, the ending was just too disappointing for me, I understand the whole point of how powerless David was to the big pond vs. the small puddle he was in. However, I still felt like there could've been a grand asspull to at least keep him alive.
It is refreshing to see a story where main characters don't get into stupid superficial arguments for the sake of cheap drama, but instead are devoted to one another till the end. Truly inspirational.
She was literally helping him but behind his back so they could make drama about her dont wanting to help the team anymore and all that. Dont get me wrong it is a great story just saying that they did it
@@netos633 Yeah, good point, but this plot line didn't really stand out as a device to create drama. At least to me. They also have a pretty good explanation for her actions, as she knew that David would get involved if he found out about the experiment, so she had to hide it (at least in her mind it was the best option). Anyway, she did it for him, not for herself or to prove some grand idea etc. I guess, that's the main thing this show tried to say - that, if your end goal is a better life for people around you, it is worth it. Of course you will die a gruesome death. But totally worth it in the end.
@@netos633 Yeah but it's literally in the background until the last episode, and they didn't have a constant divide over it. It was like two chats, of which only one was dramatic. And in fairness, that one was only dramatic because David began deteriorating and just assaulted the doc.
@@netos633 I like the fact that her line of thinking basically got David killed. She was never really able to trust in him and be open with him or commit fully to the team and it cost her everything.
@@netos633 There was a reason for that though. In a world where they can scan data/information of peoples minds even from a distance, her telling anyone what she's doing literally creates a trail while she's trying to scrub the trail. It'd be like trying to mop a floor while wearing super muddy boots. No matter where you go your leaving a trail. She HAD to keep it in the dark. That says nothing for what he might try to do once he found out properly.
The fact that this music was only meant to be played on in game radio but instead made it in the anime for very important scenes and it just fits right in. It was never meant to be something crucial but they somehow made it much more essential than what it was. The devs are crazy for that. The anime redeemed the franchise for me

the saddest part is that her dream changed from "i want to go to the moon" to "i want us to go to the moon together" but now shes there, alone. its a special kind of hell. i wouldnt be surprised if we learn in a latter show or game that she decided to go to the crater where she sat with David in the BD, took a seat, and popped the air seals on her suit just to put an end to it. after all, there are no happy endings in cyberpunk
Man I wanted to get things done today, not ball up and cry. Got me thinking bout my brother 🥲

@@lucadreier22comparitively? What would he have died for otherwise?
Without her, i dont think he has a life at all
Same goes for Lucy, David changed her life as well.
She brought him back from cyberpsychosis they loved each other so much
I mean he wasn't technically "dead" yet just going to the point of insanity and to the point of no return

Not just David but everyone in the squad
Lucy said Edgerunners are remembered how they die. But Lucy remembered David for how he lived.

Lemme fix that
@@hkgaming1245wdym by better?
Did anyone else notice that David never really had any aspirations other than chasing other people's dreams? His mother wanted him to go to Arasaka and climb the corpo ladder, so David was fixated on that dream. He then wanted Lucy to follow her dreams, so he fixated on making her dream come true... Such a tragic character, honestly. :(
his dream was to make the people he loved happy
it's not so bad, really.
She did eventually get to the Moon, but could only think of him.
we call it sacrifice.

It's really rare for a 12-episode anime to influence a community of gamers who hate the game for being buggy, to re-try and go back in the game and love it more than it ever was.
12?
I absolutely gave the game a try because of how good the anime was. Loved it! They've improved it so much, hoping to pick up Phantom Liberty over the holidays
@tal1sman100 12 is usually the amount of episodes these short anime series have. He was just using those as something to compare it to.
think it may be the only time its ever happened, cant think of a single other game that was a massive failure only to become one of the most played games on steam after an anime was released telling a bit about its world.

The anime redeemed the franchise for me
The only weird thing about it is that they don't play the song enough in radios.
The devs had nothing to do with that tho
they add this song on that radio in a update i think.

They achieved David’s dream by giving him a place where he felt like he finally belonged, so he sacrificed everything he had to help everyone else achieve theirs.

Glad you're safe. For David's sake. WE'RE HAVING A MOMENT HERE!!! FAHH Q.
That line and the others specially for David's mom. It's so sad, but I'm glad Lucy seems to be alive in the present Cyberpunk universe.
When this song dropped in episode 10, right when David used the sandevistan for the last time in Arasaka HQ to save Lucy. It was so emotional especially when she yells his name with the moon behind them, kisses him to bring him back. Then he says "Lucy" and she says "Oh David" with tears in her eyes. All the feels.
Bro forst time I was balling tears since brother bear, heard this song in a meme and almost started crying too
