Perfect depiction of a villain. Viktor is not evil, but broken. He thinks he's doing the right thiong, but he's sacrificing everything in his pursuit of greatness. He crossed the line.
Agreed, he's my favourite character and has been from the start. He only wanted to help people and give them better lives, but ended up losing himself in trying to do good. Though, I've seen plenty of people who liked and loved Viktor in season 1 with him being a popular and universally liked character, who dislike and hate him now because of those 2 episodes and now see him as an evil villain, a narcissist with a god complex, a manipulator and hypocrite, etc. and it's really disheartening and sad. He's a really tragic character who had to struggle and suffer so much ever since he was born, but despite that only ever had good intentions and wanted to help people and give them peaceful, warless and painless lives, only to end up the way he did and to be remembered as a villain by the people of Piltover and Zaun, and apparently a portion of the fandom unfortunately.

I like to think Jayce and Viktor went on to become explorers chasing wild runes throughout infinite timelines and dimensions. My grandmother passed away on the very day this song was first released on Spotify, it's very sudden and painful. What surprised me was the fact that the lyrics were so relatable to what had just happened, it was surreal, but now it all makes sense. I later found out she refused to call me the day she fell ill because she didn't want me to worry. This segment specifically has such a deep meaning because of that: "but I'd rather you not be here for what could be my final form, stay your pretty eyes on course". This is a beautiful song, and I will never forget it. Thank you Tyler, and may your beloved grandma rest in peace

There are plenty of tragic villains in fiction, but they always seem like villains by the end. Viktor, despite being the main antagonist of the series, never really feels like a villain. Just one of the many things that makes this show so special
i wouldnt consider Viktor a Villain or Antagonist, more like a Victim of Circumstance. Where his unfair start in life lead him down a difficult path, and that he made the best with what he was given, better than most all things considered, just, fate was a knife, twisted even before stabbing him. You can defintiely look at most characters in Arcane as Victim of Circumstance, where if only one or two things were different, everything would've been better, the Doctor, Vander, Silco, Jinx/Power, Jayce, Kaitlyn. All these characters lives were changed irreversibly by tragic events, that if not for those events, the world would've been a whole lot different.
Viktor isn't a villain, viktor is an idealist who did find the execution of his ideals in a vision that doesn't line up with the will of others. He might lose the sense for reality at some point but at no point he wants bad for others.
I’m here after watching Arcane and getting Aplastic Anemia diagnosis. Never have I ever felt so seen by the song: how my body changes and I can’t do anything about it, how the disappointment of the pain and burden I cause for my family and loved ones and even myself, how I want everyone to remember me before- when I could walk and be myself, working and having fun around. It’s curable and I am blessed to receive treatment. I wish everyone in tough health situations a recovery - you can do it. We won’t cross the line. you are not alone 😭❤️

What Viktor did wasn't right, but he had all the right to feel it was. You can see it in the scene where he managed to run again. He just didn't wanted anyone to have the same fate and feel as useless as he felt he once was.
Iirc Viktor was kinda dying from his illness tho wasn't he? If all his disability did was make him not able to walk without help then yeah, he'd just need to accept it, but I remember it being more dire than that. The lengths to which he went were obviously not good, but I can understand wanting to cure a condition that will end your life early if untreated.

The fact that the entire song is a triple entendre is very meaningful to the show, his grandmother, and us. I cried listening to this as I definitely made me think of family that have passed on, always wondering if I disappointed them by going the way I wanted for myself.
The progression of love gone wrong, but ending up going right anyway, despite it all. Firstly they are victimised, secondly they become offenders/villains, thirdly they become saviours.

Ambessa has always loved Mel, she was just desperate because she was "backed into a corner" and wanted Viktor to be on her side because she wants all the power to defeat Black Rose. Meanwhile Singed has done everything only for his daughter, similar to Ambessa theyre doing actions deemed unspeakable for love. So yeah, selfish. But the same with Jinx, Vi, Cait, Jayce, Viktor, and so on. They are all selfish. And who's the one to pay for it? Ekko, Heimerdinger...

Watching Arcane season 2 and now this music video The Line, really just breaks my heart for Vander! Brought back so many times, twice reunited with his family and every time it's taken away. This beautiful song broke my heart again and I love it for it! Season 2 was truly a masterpiece!

I don’t care what anyone says, Viktor’s rework is one of the best things to happen to animation. His story had me on the edge of my seat every step of the way. His voice actor really nailed talking so calm when he spoke of evolution with Singed.
Making him lost his humanity via migical void virus, while in the lore its something that happensa over decades of him triyng to do better for him and for all people just to be hunted and shunned by jayce and his narrow way of thinking... Vander's final death was some of the toughest TV I've had to watch. I don't know if it's because I've recently become a dad or what, but the scene made me really sad. Seeing the memories fade and his eyes finally go out for good wrenched my gut.

Don`t worry, Singed and Viktor failed to wipe out Vander`s humanity totally. We know because in the last episode there`s a flashback to Vander lovingly watching Young Powder and Vi sleep just after adopting them and because the two girls were sleeping in that flashback that memory could only be one person's: Vander's, thus explaining why Warwick doesn`t kill innocents in the game.
My wife and I have been fighting her rare cancer for almost a year and a half now. Coming from that place, this song just destroys me. The melody and lyric expression is so precious and fragile, I just want to carry it and nurture it so it can just continue. But all beautiful things must end, and this song is no exception. I've learned to stop and savor every moment of the beautiful things around me while I can because you just never know when they may pass into Legend. Tyler, thank you for a tune that makes me feel less alone in my own personal feelings and fears.
Viktor is a tragic character, he thought he'd do good but that only resulted in eternal solitude and nothingness. I love the uniqueness that he never kills despite being the big bad and he could easily do it.

He only came back to his senses when Ekko threw an anomaly onto his face, disturbing the "charge, potential, recursive impulse" of the arcane, and that was the moment Jayce could "reach" him, his humanity. Jayce probably didn't know Viktor could touch him and read his memories, but the anomaly on the Z-drive that Ekko threw at him was probably the thing that disturbed the arcane corruption of Viktor's mind and he could talk normally and humanly with Jayce.
@@LukasKiller157 False. The hex core did not "corrupt" him. if this was the case Viktor would not have tried to save Vander and rejected Singed's offer what would erase his humanity. Only after absorbing the apex shimmer would that argument even make a modicum of sense. Every time he becomes more extreme it was due to Jayce's actions, breaking his promise, blasting him, refusing to talk. Blaming it on the "evil arcane" takes away his complexity, and I believe the writers are better than that.

This song has helped me a lot in my moments of grief considering I watched the emergency personnel running into their house with defibrillators trying to revive him. I know this song is meant for Viktor, showing his final doubts before finally crossing the line, but I love how it can apply to almost every character in the series: "Did I disappoint you?" - Jayce, Vi, Jinx, Cait, Mel, Vander, Silco. All these people trying to change for someone or something else, giving up a parts of themselves in an attempt to live up to expectations or achieve their goals. They all crossed their own lines in one way or another and that all leads to Viktor crossing THE LINE and after this scene nothing could ever be the same.

My father died from cancer and I'm listening to this crying my eyes out. I can't help but ask myself if he had thoughts like these too "Did I disappoint you?" "Keep the memories of who I was before" This song makes me feel close to him in a way I never felt since his death. Never thought a song could do this
As a disabled person, I really connect with Viktor. I would love a cure to my disability, but at the same time, it makes me ME. There's beauty in the imperfections, or whatever it was Jayce said. Also, Viktor is like that Lizard character from Spider-man.
A perfect example of how much better live versions are than the overproduced, overprocessed studio versions. So much emotion is processed out of Tyler's voice in the studio version that it often doesn't even sound like a person singing it. The live version is 100 times better.

I swear this is the most raw I have heard Tyler's voice. It's so sad about his loss of his Nana and him writing this song, thinking about his experience with his loss. You can always hear his deep emotions and connections to each song he writes. This one hits so deeply. Hearing it after I found out about his Nana made me cry because it reminded me of the death of my pop, I was in agony when he passed.

Maria Egan from Riot Games said about working with the band: ''What happens with Arcane is that we shall get sent some rough storyboards and there will be a temp track attached, it was a song that immediately made me think that Tyler Joseph has to write this. The moment was designed for this band and we knew that Tyler was a fan of the show and that they wanted to do something with us. He never really writes for anything else, but he loves the show so they wanted to see it and we sent it over. Literally three days after he got the scene, we got the song back, when that one came in it was like, ‘Okay, well, that’s it’. We were able to work really closely with them to create this moment. My grandmother passed away on the very day this song was first released on Spotify, it's very sudden and painful. What surprised me was the fact that the lyrics were so relatable to what had just happened, it was surreal, but now it all makes sense.
I later found out she refused to call me the day she fell ill because she didn't want me to worry. This segment specifically has such a deep meaning because of that: "but I'd rather you not be here for what could be my final form, stay your pretty eyes on course".
This is a beautiful song, and I will never forget it. Thank you Tyler, and may your beloved grandma rest in peace

There are plenty of tragic villains in fiction, but they always seem like villains by the end. Viktor, despite being the main antagonist of the series, never really feels like a villain. Just one of the many things that makes this show so special

Victor had the best arc in the show. His greatest good led to his greatest evil, and he tried to change the past so many times
i wouldnt consider Viktor a Villain or Antagonist, more like a Victim of Circumstance. Where his unfair start in life lead him down a difficult path, and that he made the best with what he was given, better than most all things considered, just, fate was a knife, twisted even before stabbing him.
You can defintiely look at most characters in Arcane as Victim of Circumstance, where if only one or two things were different, everything would've been better, the Doctor, Vander, Silco, Jinx/Power, Jayce, Kaitlyn. All these characters lives were changed irreversibly by tragic events, that if not for those events, the world would've been a whole lot different.
Viktor isn't a villain, viktor is an idealist who did find the execution of his ideals in a vision that doesn't line up with the will of others. He might lose the sense for reality at some point but at no point he wants bad for others.

Never have I ever felt so seen by the song: how my body changes and I can’t do anything about it, how the disappointment of the pain and burden I cause for my family and loved ones and even myself, how I want everyone to remember me before- when I could walk and be myself, working and having fun around. It’s curable and I am blessed to receive treatment. I wish everyone in tough health situations a recovery - you can do it. We won’t cross the line. you are not alone 😭❤️

What Viktor did wasn't right, but he had all the right to feel it was.
You can see it in the scene where he managed to run again. He just didn't wanted anyone to have the same fate and feel as useless as he felt he once was.
Iirc Viktor was kinda dying from his illness tho wasn't he? If all his disability did was make him not able to walk without help then yeah, he'd just need to accept it, but I remember it being more dire than that. The lengths to which he went were obviously not good, but I can understand wanting to cure a condition that will end your life early if untreated.

The fact that the entire song is a triple entendre is very meaningful to the show, his grandmother, and us. I cried listening to this as I definitely made me think of family that have passed on, always wondering if I disappointed them by going the way I wanted for myself.

I can't even see Viktor as a villain. It's Singed and Ambessa who brought him over the line.
Not even Ambessa or Singed are villain. Ambessa has always loved Mel, she was just desperate because she was "backed into a corner" and wanted Viktor to be on her side because she wants all the power to defeat Black Rose.
Meanwhile Singed has done everything only for his daughter, similar to Ambessa theyre doing actions deemed unspeakable for love. So yeah, selfish.
But the same with Jinx, Vi, Cait, Jayce, Viktor, and so on. They are all selfish. And who's the one to pay for it? Ekko, Heimerdinger...
The "No, you wont" line is my favourite moment of the victor storyline. Victors crossing of what made him human combined with his love and Vander dissolving...
Tbf he did have some sentimentality for Jayce even after his transformation, but I agree that he was willing to give up most of his humanity when he agreed with the transformation process and Ambessa's deal

Vander's final death was some of the toughest TV I've had to watch. I don't know if it's because I've recently become a dad or what, but the scene made me really sad.

This is what I've dreamed of, Twenty One Pilots making a song for Arcane. My favourite band making a song for my favourite series.
My wife and I have been fighting her rare cancer for almost a year and a half now. Coming from that place, this song just destroys me. The melody and lyric expression is so precious and fragile, I just want to carry it and nurture it so it can just continue. But all beautiful things must end, and this song is no exception. I've learned to stop and savor every moment of the beautiful things around me while I can because you just never know when they may pass into Legend. Tyler, thank you for a tune that makes me feel less alone in my own personal feelings and fears.

Viktor is a tragic character, he thought he'd do good but that only resulted in eternal solitude and nothingness. I love the uniqueness that he never kills despite being the big bad and he could easily do it.
Question is how much he had control over himself because I think the Arcane also manipulated him.
@@davidg3747 honestly, I think the arcane amplified his ambitions, but I don't think he was manipulated. He truly believed that humanity needed to be saved, and only he could do it.

He only came back to his senses when Ekko threw an anomaly onto his face, disturbing the "charge, potential, recursive impulse" of the arcane, and that was the moment Jayce could "reach" him, his humanity. Jayce probably didn't know Viktor could touch him and read his memories, but the anomaly on the Z-drive that Ekko threw at him was probably the thing that disturbed the arcane corruption of Viktor's mind and he could talk normally and humanly with Jayce.
@@LukasKiller157 False. The hex core did not "corrupt" him. if this was the case Viktor would not have tried to save Vander and rejected Singed's offer what would erase his humanity. Only after absorbing the apex shimmer would that argument even make a modicum of sense. Every time he becomes more extreme it was due to Jayce's actions, breaking his promise, blasting him, refusing to talk. Blaming it on the "evil arcane" takes away his complexity, and I believe the writers are better than that.

I know this song is meant for Viktor, showing his final doubts before finally crossing the line, but I love how it can apply to almost every character in the series:
"Did I disappoint you?" - Jayce, Vi, Jinx, Cait, Mel, Vander, Silco.
All these people trying to change for someone or something else, giving up a parts of themselves in an attempt to live up to expectations or achieve their goals. They all crossed their own lines in one way or another and that all leads to Viktor crossing THE LINE and after this scene nothing could ever be the same.

A perfect example of how much better live versions are than the overproduced, overprocessed studio versions. So much emotion is processed out of Tyler's voice in the studio version that it often doesn't even sound like a person singing it. The live version is 100 times better.

I swear this is the most raw I have heard Tyler's voice. It's so sad about his loss of his Nana and him writing this song, thinking about his experience with his loss. You can always hear his deep emotions and connections to each song he writes. This one hits so deeply. Hearing it after I found out about his Nana made me cry because it reminded me of the death of my pop, I was in agony when he passed.
