oh fuck yes it does. When I heard it in the trailer I was like "mhh seems like a nice song"... Now I listened to it again after completing the game and I cried. Just cried. (Hanako ending btw)
Just finished the story and i've started to think about my life, this game hits differently i dont care about bugs anymore this game is a damn masterpiece!!!
@@momsspaghetti9571 yeah it fucking is. I have a pc which can actually run this game well (1440p, Psycho Raytracing at 60fps) and damn... This game is incredible. I get the occasional npc bugs but nothing major. I love the game. I already have 30h in
This game was one of the last gifts my father gave me, he even played with me until the end of the prologue, today it's been three weeks since he died and I miss him so much, i see you in the major leagues dad....
@marahitano123 imo this fits perfectly for any of the 3 main ending routes. The lyrics are in the end about V and Johnny, particularly in the verse where its a canvas of 2 angels who loved and lost, but in the end has to pay the cost because one of them had to die. Then there's also "that one thing that changed it all. That one sin that caused the fall" particularly referring to when V stormed the arasaka building and got the ticking time bomb in his head, along with Johnny of course.
;_; I hated him at start and the moment V shouted at him “Why are you not fighting” and he just pushes you to live your life and keep moving forward… scene with vi on Basilisk letting go of the bullet hit like fucking train.
I'm the opposite, often I would say that I could play it for the first time again. But I had such a good experience the first time that I would never want those feelings and experience and memory of how amazing it was to go away you know? Some quests stuck with me so hard and I would not want those feelings to go away.
Tomek Frydrysiak We knew before the game even came out Jackie would die. Promotional material seriously dropped a major spoiler just like that for a character that we saw more of than Keanu’s in marketing. BS. Honestly feels like Jackie’s character got shelved and act 1 cut down heavily just to get Keanu more percentage of screen time.
Maybe if Jackie got more screen time instead of the game rushing you to dex so you can get kea- I mean Johnny in your head right away (think that 6 month montage) maybe the game would have more healthy debate over what is the “good ending”. If people cared as much about Jackie as CDPR expects us to then there would be more reason (other than it just being cool) to go for the V becomes legend ending. Since it’s initially Jackie’s idea to become afterlife legends, and V just kinda rolls with it (at least in the beginning). Without so much attachment to Jackie it’s harder to justify not going with the aldecaldos since it’s the “happy” ending for V.
Man, how crazy is it that in reality, V and Jackie never got to be the legends they wanted to be? They both died the moment they took the Dex job, but V just happened to have the Relic. Otherwise, they both woulda been forgotten and Night City woulda moved on as it always does. Makes you think...
this song gave you depression after finnishing the game and i really wanna stay at your house gives you depression before finishing edgerunners basically
@@keyren4395 If I had to describe the difference, the edgerunners song is a quick stab to the gut. This is just the knife dragging slowly across your chest and it won't stop....
Because Edgerunners was a show. But V... V chose his/her ending. Whatever ending you got to, you ended it on your own terms, making it all the more personal, all the more tragic. That's why it hit us harder than Edgerunners could ever hope to. It was my ending, and your ending, it was... a thing of beauty, heh.
Yeah very good life advice, especially if you only THINK you'll lose - fight till the last milisecond, never surrender :) This even applies to car / plane accidents etc. - try to do something even when you see the ground/other car coming fast at you :)
Those words summed up the theme of the story. Game made me weep. Not even suicidal myself, but damn you need to hear something like that, sometimes. I like how Johnny was the devil on your shoulder for half the game, and then for the rest he fought like hell to rescue you and get you home. Incredible game.
This game hits hard already, and your words hits even harder, because you are 100% right, born to loose, live to win, never stop fight brothers and sisters
@@Lil.Grandpa He used to be a soldier, and V? he was a civilian, his duty was to bring V home whatever it costed... Johhny wanted however V to keep fighting, because even the best soldiers run out of strength sooner or later.
I agree with you. Visiting Johnny Silverhand's grave also made me like him more. He explained almost everything. Even said that he was scared for the first time V and Johnny met.
@Alex A It doesn't help that in a few points there is an option to just silence him and the quest objective text tells you to do just this. Going back through a second time and listening to everything he has to say not taking the pills when it tells me to it adds so much more to his character.
I've only played the tabletop game, and then learn the kids have made this computer game about it. One of my younger friends show off the Arasaka ending, and one of the first damn things they show is an eternal, undying Saburo Arasaka. And that's immediately the scaries thing in the game.
Although that ending was absolutely gutting, the gameplay leading up to it was top notch imo. Loved fighting Arasaka elites with Goro and Oda at your side.
The game has its own issues. But the writing will never be one of them. All of its problems aside, it's still one of the greatest stories I've ever played through.
Cyberpunk has a lot of technical issues but it is an amazing experience of story and character. I’m not ashamed to say that I think the game surpasses The Witcher 3 in almost every way for me. I had so much more fun playing this game and fell in love with the characters.
@@VIO__ witcher 3 is far too slow and it just doesn't engage with me enough to consider playing through much of it. I've tried many times but just can't get into it unfortunately lol. I'm still playing cyberpunk every day so it must be amazing
(Spoilers) Every ending is about exploring a different meaning to life. *Arasaka* - Survival, at any cost, up to and inlcuding your principles and freedom. *Nomad* - Friendship, belonging, human connection placed before wealth and glory. *Path of Glory* - Legacy, leaving an impact on the world, at the cost of losing those closest to you. *Letting Johnny take V's body* - Altruism, self-sacrifice for the life of a friend who'd do the same for you. *Suicide before the final mission* - Nihilism, deciding that there actually is no meaning to your own life and no reason to continue trying.
I follow my own way. Blind gameplay. Hard choice... going to arasaka and think, i am better. Think, i knew their plan... Dealt with the devil and lost so much. Going Back to earth then. After two days thinking about it, i take the way i want to do. Gave johnny the Body...
You miss the secret one, with the mission "(don't fear) the reaper" where V go to the arasaka tower alone. If you die, the game ends. There is no save, just one shot
@@howlingdin9332I think phone calls after suicide denied that it's kind of altruism ending. Our friends/lovers are pissed off that we made that decision, they were ready to sacrifice (i.n Panama for male V) for us and fight for our soul and survival.

I went into it blind without knowing anything else other than it's an open world RPG but after finishing it, it immediately became one of my favorite single player games right behind rdr2
Best part is, the lyrics of this song were already written way back when the original Cyberpunk 2020 was written. CDPR just used these lyrics and made an actual song out of it. It's really cool how Cyberpunk 2077 used the Cyberpunk 2020 source material and lifted it to an entirely new level.
@@SaucyJack88 Never heard so much deepness and impacts in music in a video game. This whole song playing at the end... Oh man, you can’t be passive to this..
I lost a friend this week, the last thing they gave was the original Cyberpunk 2020 table top game. He was one of a kind. See you in the major leagues Rick.
This version really grew on me. Captures the vibe of nearly dead, burnt out V reflecting on everything at the end of thier journey. All that was gained and everything/everyone that was that lost.
"V's dying and I'm the fucking cancer that's killing them!" This line hits especially hard after the convo at Johnny's grave. After he says "Most of the people I called friends couldn't stand to be in the same room as me. But you're there 24/7 and the only person who doesn't seem to hate my living guts." Even moreso if you call him "the guy that saved my life" and he responds "V, you have no idea how much I want that to be true..."
I feel sorry for Johnny In that scene equally as for V. This was his one last chance to make something right by someone and it ended up all the same. Rly depressing stuff no matter which ending you got.

I honestly didn't think they weren't exaggerating when they said that Cyberpunk has one of the most emotionally heavy stories they've ever written. I knew it'd be good but HOLY hell. They pulled back no punches. With the Witcher's relatively lighthearted nature I DID Not expect such an emotionally charged story from CDPR. Bravo man, bravo CDPR. I cannot wait to see what they have for us in the future.
I agree with everything you said, but the Witcher lighthearted?? The franchise with death, war and misery everywhere and one of the most gutwrenching bad endings ever? Otherwise yeah, amazing work from them on Cyberpunk.
I agree the game hits your emotions like a motherfucker, but Idk if i'd consider the Witcher light hearted. The game doesn't pull at your emotions as hard as Cyber Punk, and can have it's more calm, and less serious moments, but it certainly has insanely dark or serious moments. Look at the entire first part where you've gotta find the Baron's wife. That entire portion was extremely dark, and it had a grim ending with it either resulting in the Baron killing himself, or the children essentially being left to die. There's the Hearts of stone questline which eventually leads you to find out what happened with Olgierd, and his ex wife.

@@lordmatheus4733 what if they added an option that cloned Johnny’s body. Like- v and Johnny both live. Start over with new lives elsewhere. That would be a great epilogue. Or a v x Johnny romance ending. I simped for Johnny silver hand. I admit it
Cyberpunk 2077's story really helped me in a very dark time when I had depression over life and death and has an existential crisis, I tried looking for influence and inspiration to get through it, but really aside from my parents nothing was helping and I felt like I would be in this pit of despair forever. Cyberpunk took me out of the hole, having gotten the Panam ending was very important to me, it felt like V accepted that death was only important because life was worth living rather than death being nothing and simply an end. It's an end to a lot of things, but it's never an end to your everlasting story that while the world might not remember, did happen and was important it did so. Doing so much better now, I really get a little upset here and there and feel like everyone should just get over themselves and learn to love life and live it with one another and live it to help others like all good things in the world have said constantly.
hey! the same for me. when i finished the game, i sat till 4 am and relived it for like 6 hours... still cant get over it. getting the Panam ending is what made the game so special to me. changed my life. i really want to know what happened with the aldecados, judy and V after
This game is really hard to one, the ending is like a hit in the face. no matter what you do, how hard you try, what you are willing to sacrifice, in the end what u feel is just depression, emptiness, everything being meaningless, whatever you do feels somehow wrong, nothing feels satisfying, there is no stereotypical happy end, and in a way that is a good thing, most games simply take it too easy, with there always being a bright sunshine at the end of the horizon, here you had hope, you had willpower, you had friends you were sure fate is on your side and you get a chance to live, but in the end it all went down. I hate that people simply dont give the game a chance because of the bad start, the story is fantastic, deep and lets you think about life.
Hey Mario, finally i found someone who exactly described what i felt when i first finished the game. The game is simply not fair, especially since you truly believe you have got a shot and all you have to do is fight through all the obstacles to get a happy ending. When you finally reach the climax and seemingly won it all, it lets you fall and you feel like an empty shell. You gave it all - but to no avail. I first chose Arasaka, because I felt like it was the natural thing to do since the game always had the main focus simply on surival. On the second playthrough I gave my body to Johnny, since I interacted way more with him. Every ending left me in tears. What an amazing game. I hope the next Add-On will give you a better outlook on a solution that at least fires up a bit of hope for V...
@@jushiistheman Probably a matter of one's susceptibility. I kinda knew it won't end with pink ponies and candies and all, but truth is -- it is a natural way of things. Can't live without a painful moments from time to time. Yeah, it's not so sunny and optimistic, but it's real and fitting.
I think one of the describing characteristics about cyberpunk as a genre is best summed up by the statement - "you can't save the world, you can only save yourself. And sometimes not even that."
It is like life. You cant win it, you cant lose it, you can live it. When you are feeling over the moon, good for you. But emptiness will come, sooner or later. This is a thing I love in this game....feels like my life :D So, never fade away. Life loops. F*ck..
Some day people wll forget the bugs and stuff, they will remember V. , Jackie, Panam, Johnny, Judy, Victor, Takemura and other great characters and the story which is absolutely stunning.
I still remember people shitting on a new vegas because it released half-baked and with a lot of bugs. Now its iconic and legendary. People will come around for Cyberpunk. Its still a techinical marvel and one of the best games ever
Eight months later, yeah no, this game's enduring legacy is definitely the buggy unfinished mess that blackened the once-unimpeachable rep of CDPR. A shame, because there's a pretty good game under all of that.
What I hate the most about this masterpiece is the fact that it has made other games seem so empty, so flat. I’ve been gaming since 1994, and never in my life have I experienced something as visceral as what this game made me feel, Dude, I CRIED while watching the credits, feeling an impossible mix of sadness, anger, frustration, joy, and rage at not understanding how a game, a story like this, could have taken me to that emotional breaking point
Amazing how different people are quoting different characters, showing how different some people's experiences were. Jackie, Panam, Rouge, Johnny. All the characters are so well written you can feel for them all.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. The two games I cherish most, because they changed my outlook on life, giving me a reason to never give up and just enjoy each day I have. You can hate this game, but you will never shake my mind on it. I can guarantee.
These two games. They are both hated, despite that RDR2 is for the Van Der Linde life opening in chapters 1, 2, 3 but Cyberpunk is for bugs, these games are good. But I prefer RDR2
@@smeshnoy8538 In fairness it's also hated for its gameplay, which imo is just worse than the first one. "Once upon a time, people were talking to graves and nobody batted an eyelid, right?" - Judy Alvarez "Be alone with my thoughts? Near on unachievable these days." - V "Swap meat for chrome, live a BD fantasy, whatever, but at the end of it all, it's the code you live by that defines who you are. " - Johnny Silverhand "You've never backed down from anything in your life, even when you maybe should've. You go through Night City knowing a stray bullet could end you while hailing a cab. But that's never stopped you from taking action. If you gotta kill, kill. If you gotta burn it all to the ground, then let it burn" - Skye (Doll) The game really makes you think about life

If you like the story vib were your actions seal your ending. I would say RDR2 and the Mass effect Trilogy. But honestly RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077 have left impression on me from the character development and love the designers put into parts of the story. RDR2 was truly the first game I played in recent years that made me feel like I've lived a life through another human followed by Cyberpunk.
@@EonAzure tbh... V's character development wasn't very good, but it was Johnny's character development that was done really well along with Judy and Panam. V's character is just a bit empty and the character choices are limited, those choices don't impact the game too much. The music in Cyberpunks story plays a big part of how it really feels, when I played it, it felt like a really good story, but I felt that it could've been much much longer.

SPOILERS AHEAD YOU'VE BEEN WARNED Hearing this after doing The Devil ending really messed with me. I just felt like V after he/she got rid of the relic: empty. Especially when I chose the 'secure your soul' option. Whole game you're against Arasaka, for killing Jackie, for all the things Johhny showed you, seeing how they don't care that Yorinobu killed his dad. And then you're there in their orbital hospital or whatever, trying to recover from the damage the relic did, not being able to solve the damn cube. Everytime you wake up the news is on and you see how nothing has changed, Saboru is now in the body of Yorinobu and basically back, and Yorinobu's whole plan of trying to change the Arasaka Corp just fell through. You hear Johhny's voice from time to time, hoping to see him somewhere, only to then remember you got rid of him. You have to do the same damn tests over and over again, solve the cube, walk on the treadmill, name first thing that comes to mind, "you're walking in a cornfield," over and over and over again, until after what looks like weeks or months you finally finish the cube (or smash it). And then Takemura (or Hellman if you didn't save Goro) shows up and tells you that you've been there for days, not weeks or months, but days. And then comes the worst news, you aren't cured, and you only have a couple of months to live. You then get the choice of either going back to NC to live out your final days, or "live forever" with the Secure Your Soul program, the thing Johnny told you a lot about and how it isn't that nice. Then the human in you speaks up and you chose to "live" and you sign away your rights. Walking to the lab and asking the guard what he would say to the person walking to their greatest foe's jail to save their life, for him to then say "do not forget the way home" makes you realise how far gone you are, because at that point you don't remember the way home. To then lie down on the chair, putting on the 'lucky charm bullet' you got at the beginning of the game, closing your eyes for then the next thing you see being the vastness and emptiness of space. Then the credits start rolling and having all the people you've met throughout the game call you, asking where and how you are, and then asking to call them back when you have the chance. But you don't have the chance, not anymore, and if you ever do get a new body that will be so far in the future that everybody you knew is either gone or have forgotten about you. The game might be buggy, but it sure knows how to punch you in gut.
After making that choice, seeing all thoses messages during the credit knowing V would probably never be able to reply to them because they'll be probably be dead when he'll be ressucitate is truly sad (Intestellar vibe).
You actually were never against Arasaka in the main plot. V's purpose has always been to make it big in Night City, and once they started dying from the chip, their purpose became one of survival Sure you shoot a few of them every now and then, but they are just obstacles in your jobs, just like any other scav, Animal, Militech grunt etc. I got the Devil ending as well, and personally I felt that I got the most practical and realistic ending possible -- it's not a happy one, but it's one that I would want to achieve over and over again

hmm for me it was diffrent ,i didnt cry i didnt react i was just emotionally drained, this game did something to me. Game made me feel something only a few games have ever done. I think i might take a break
It's simple, actually. The endings basically give you a choice between several shitty outcomes, meaning whatever you do, you cant achieve any of your initial goals, and you just choose what to sacrifice. Then, even if you are comfortable with your choices, what comes after is pretty much open-ended, giving you no closure. In the end, the only thing worth anything was your journey, and i gotta say it is a bit on the short side (counting main story and meaningful side quests), meaning you dont have the time to come to terms with your fate as V. Needless to say, this type of ending always hits hard. I am kinda ashamed to say this but the last time a game did this to me was Life is Strange back in 2016, i was depressed for 2 weeks straight, but at least i had some time to think about why these endings feel like something gets ripped from you: sacrifice and no closure.
I actually felt that there was A LOT more potential for stories. I was kinda shocked that the Meet with Hanako mission was the point of no return, I felt like I had just gotten to the middle of the story.
The story is epic. My only gripe is when you finished the main story line the game feels empty. Oh and stealing a six wheeled truck fixes traffic jams, you'll be able to push right through... Which is cool. But do jump out when the game tells you your ride is broken...

This and mass effect 1 credit's song for me..
This paired with Arasaka signing the contract ending is a masterpiece.
That one sin that caused the fall" particularly referring to when V stormed the arasaka building and got the ticking time bomb in his head, along with Johnny of course.

.... Huh I think she’s onto something, maybe you should sit, sort some shit out yourself
We already know in the begin mission in misty shop jackie gonna die 😦😞
Tomek Frydrysiak
We knew before the game even came out Jackie would die.
Makes you think...

the best advice this game gives
even if you know you're set up to lose, don't stop fighting
Even more, you will lose, thats for sure. The only thing for you is to decide how you go out.
The Ararsaka ending when V sings the lyrics to that song was heart breaking. Man they really made you feel that bad decision
I've only played the tabletop game, and then learn the kids have made this computer game about it. One of my younger friends show off the Arasaka ending, and one of the first damn things they show is an eternal, undying Saburo Arasaka. And that's immediately the scaries thing in the game.

@Iulian Novac That's a good argument. The suicide ending *can* be motivated by altruism.

How can i agree more. I am so addicted to this song now. Same with the game.

@@EonAzure tbh... V's character development wasn't very good, but it was Johnny's character development that was done really well along with Judy and Panam. V's character is just a bit empty and the character choices are limited, those choices don't impact the game too much. The music in Cyberpunks story plays a big part of how it really feels, when I played it, it felt like a really good story, but I felt that it could've been much much longer.
the fact that johnny wrote this after losing alt and the song being about it makes this hit to hard
I just finished it. Fuck.... this game hit me hard. It was a piece of art. I don’t understand why it gets so much criticism, it feels blown out of proportion. It has been years since a game managed to keep me glued to it for so long. I had to force myself not to play it, because I wouldn’t br able to finish my work projects if I completely let myself go. Such emotion - sadness, joy, laughter, it had it all. Great game overall, the creators need to be commended for their effort.
I don't think it's the story most people have a problem with. The bitter sweetness perfectly fits how Night City doesn't give you a happy ending.
that's because you only played for the story. others are looking for the rpg and open world elements too. game is rightfully criticized. it was released way before it was properly ready with bugs, performance issues. the game has little to no enemy ai, poor car physics and so much more. doesn't help cpdr lied to the console buyers and tried to hide their poor ports.
@@prasunkumar1125 I think the Story is the most important part here. Any other game i played over the last couple of years in the RPG-Department lacked exactly that. SPOILERS AHEAD YOU'VE BEEN WARNED
Hearing this after doing The Devil ending really messed with me.
Well said choom sad ending for me the worst ending to say.
After making that choice, seeing all thoses messages during the credit knowing V would probably never be able to reply to them because they'll be probably be dead when he'll be ressucitate is truly sad (Intestellar vibe).
Still like the idea of getting to be a (in case of emergency break glass) for arasaka. Would make for a really cool next game or dlc I think.
That's the ending I got too, made me cry man I wasn't emotionally ready for that
You actually were never against Arasaka in the main plot. V's purpose has always been to make it big in Night City, and once they started dying from the chip, their purpose became one of survival
Sure you shoot a few of them every now and then, but they are just obstacles in your jobs, just like any other scav, Animal, Militech grunt etc.

Yeah, the characters were really well done, also very expressive, which I rarely see in other video games.
I actually felt that there was A LOT more potential for stories. I was kinda shocked that the Meet with Hanako mission was the point of no return, I felt like I had just gotten to the middle of the story.
