Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in 1965. Gaining an early following as one of the first British psychedelic groups, they were distinguished by their extended compositions, sonic experiments, philosophical lyrics and elaborate live shows. They became a leading band of the progressive rock genre, cited by some as the greatest progressive rock band of all time.
Pink Floyd were founded in 1965 by Syd Barrett (guitar, lead vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass guitar, vocals) and Richard Wright (keyboards, vocals). Under Barrett's leadership, they released two hit singles, "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play", and the successful debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). The guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined in December 1967; Barrett left in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the primary lyricist and thematic leader, devising the concepts behind Pink Floyd's most successful albums, The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979). The musical film based on The Wall, Pink Floyd - The Wall (1982), won two BAFTA Awards. Pink Floyd also composed several film scores.

Got one this morning (reported it) 👍
Love your appreciation of genius , I was lucky to be there ❤
If I were stuck on an island for the rest of my life, and I had only one choice of band to listen to, it would be Pink Floyd, 100%
This is the only correct answer.
Believe we are on the same boat.
You will probably find that nearly every first time hearing a PF song, will be your new favorite. My personal favorites have changed many times.
Very true
Yes, that’s a common theme as you’ve put some years behind you. My favorite Dylan tune has changed probably 20 times, as has my favorite Grateful Dead song and my favorite Led Zeppelin song and my favorite Beatles song and my favorite Pink Floyd song…………
I agree whole-heartedly. But that said, “Comfortably Numb” always floats near the top.
best band of all times . 😎👍🎶🎶
Agree
It’s not debatable. Pink Floyd is the GOAT.
What to recommend with Pink Floyd ………… absolutely everything !!
He doesn't plug his guitar into an amp, he plugs it directly into my soul.
The very best Pink Floyd of all time is the one you are listening to right now. All their music is the best.
Let’s raise a glass to Sir Richard Wright’s brilliant atmospheric keyboards that laid the foundation under this entire song
After listening to Floyd, I’m always left in a better place.
Had the pleasure of seeing this tour in an American football stadium, and those opening bass notes SHOOK the structure of the stadium. This was a MIND-BLOWING concert.
You can't go wrong with the Pulse show and I'll be here for the Floyd all day long. Gilmore will always be the GOAT for me but if you fancy a brief temporary detour from the Pink Floyd rabbit hole, another all-time guitar legend worth checking out is Mark Knopfler, lead singer and guitarist with the band Dire Straits. He has a totally different style of playing(finger picking). Sultans of Swing:Alchemy live is an amazing performance and well worth a reaction.
All the best from Yorkshire, UK.
David Gilmour, the Maestro at work. It's actually very difficult to control the feedback like he does, but he makes it look easy
From the same Pulse Concert, check out RUN LIKE HELL (watch the end credits as David Gilmour speaks briefly twice to the audience as the entire band greets the audience) and also check out the song LEARNING TO FLY.
As Greg Phillinganes ( Micheal Jackson music director) said after seeing this concert that "they are on a different level" . maybe why they are # 2 selling around the world and this experience was their last. After 14 days in a row sold out at Earl's Court. Disco ball in " Comfortably Numb" ***** is a FU to music critics who said they would never make it because they don't play dance music.
Actually, the disco ball has always been PF’s FU to a particular British music critic, all the way back in the late 60’s, who wrote that their music would never amount to anything, “kids can’t dance to it”. Floyd replied by adding a disco ball, and stating that it was “for anyone who cared to dance”. 😝🖕😎
@@yelnikigwawa1845 checkout 1985 album cover "Pink Floyd's collection of Dance Songs". That says it all.
The way Sir David Gilmour bends these notes is truly amazing, the way he uses reverb and distortion and feedback in this song really brings me to tears. Spectacular concert, I think the best imo! 👍
Try “Hey you “ next. You’ll not be disappointed. Studio version. My favourite track of all time.
Love your reactions.
This song leaves most people speechless the first time they hear it. One of the best post Waters songs. A different song with a great Gilmour surprise is pulse live KEEP TALKING.
YES! I was going to recommend the same song for the same reason.
lol you can expect your favourite to change regularly back and forth depending on your mood. To most PF fans introducing someone to PF is a satisfying feeling.
pink floyd has several singers.. the guitar is one of them...
hahahahaha....BAM.
You haven’t heard “ Animals” the Album. You experience Pink Floyd first, then you listen and find the message.
🔜🔜🔜ONE OF THESE DAYS by live PULSE it's GOLD!😘
... Dude, you are so good. It's wonderful to share this music with you, your reactions are incredible. Thank you for sharing this with us all. More, More, More, Pink Floyd, I can't wait... Peace - Out...
cats love pink floyd😉
Two things. With Progressive Rock, Prog Rock, it was all about soundscapes and experimental music, but also the album was the artform. *Pink Floyd* was always known as a studio band, because they crafted their albums carefully to produce a fully cohesive piece. *The Wall* (1979) is written as a full rock opera, which they later turned into a movie. *Dark Side of the Moon* (1973) is a very tight album, speaking to the cycle of human life, and is easily one of the top albums of all time. *Wish You Were Here* is a cycle about navigating the music industry as a young artist. "Pink" is the nominal artist that the albums are told from the perspective of. They played concerts more as tributes to their albums, than to riff on their work, and they were famous for touring very little. The tour for *The Wall* had only ten concerts across Europe, I believe, and because their vision was so elaborate, as a full stage play for the opera, plus full special effects, they lost money on every concert -- they had expected it to lose money, but did it anyway. They made the movie as a way to create that stage experience for more people. Their concert to a vacant audience at the amphitheater in the ruins of Pompeii, Italy is a wonder of audacity, with them playing music from their *Echoes* album, naked to the judgement of Eternity. But the album is the artform.
Secondly, as captivated as you are by the mood and soundscape, I think you would really like Steely Dan as well. To make it easy, try anything off of their album *Aja* (1977).
PINK FLOYD PULSE CONCERT Coming Back to Life.
My favorite also!
Listen to "hey you"!
it maybe the most iconic intro to any song.
a drummer, a percussionist.
I sit and watch this song over and over once or twice a week.
The cat convinced me to subscribe. Well, great Pink Floyd reaction too. Whatever song I'm hearing at the time by the Floyd is my favorite.
Comfortably Numb from pulse concert also On The Turning Away 1988 Concert
Was great concert to see live. Had 10 th row seats and were really impressed by backing singers.
Die hard Zep fan but Floyd every bit as good.
The Floyd Rose tremelo is a gift from God in the right hands. And David’s are the right hands.
pink floyd dogs of amimals imo might be the best song ever recorded
LOVE Pink Floyd and by your reactions, I have become a new subscriber !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Run Like Hell
Great Gig in the Sky
Comfortably Numb
Time
On The Turning Away
…all on the Pulse concert.
On The Turning Away
…Delicate Sound of Thunder concert. 😅
When people went to a Pink Floyd gig, they didn't just see just any old gig, they journeyed to a different dimension in space and time.
Seen them all live luckily , lad zep sabbath etc , this was the best gig I ever saw by miles 😊
Ha, ha, ha, you'll say 100 times to the following Pink Floyd songs, that it's the best, your favorite!:)))
One of the greatest bands ever
Every Pink Floyd song is a roller coaster of emotions.
Please react to "On The Turning Away" from the concert "Delicate Sound of Thunder", 1987. The solo is my favorite just as much as the one from Comfortably Numb.
As mentioned already, the song Run Like Hell, same concert. It is the last song of the concert.
Those longgggg licks on the axe at the begining and end by Gilmour are gold bro 💯%🤘👌🤙👍
my favorite Gilmore solo,.
play Fearless
The concert is insane, probably one of the best ever. Do yourself a big favour and just sit and watch the whole thing without a break, stunning.
watch it again, remember how it begins when you get to the end...such PF...lol
Great reaction! Where are the headphones??? Echoes (last performance with Richard Wright), then do “live at Pompeii” you won’t be disappointed!
And all of these are in the same concert. People got to see all of this at once.
This one defies description, I love it so much. I love your kitty, too. 😻
One of These Days from the same Pulse concert is pretty great, too.
PF opened The Second British Rock Gathering, 1972, 100k+ fans, with One of These Days! 50,000 watts of power, 36 inch steel-cone speakers and fireworks! It was electric....😊
Pink Floyd influenced a whole generation of kids. We still carry their messages and what each solo spoke to us. Like i never, " turn away," i refuse," indoctrination, " " another brick in the wall," " im not so afraid, " of the great gig in the sky." Get it?
Gilmour said sorrow was one of his favourite songs to play live, I agree, fantastic song.
Don't know where you have all been in this rabbit hole, but I hope you have witnessed the studio version of Great Gig In The Sky
such an underrated song...I have seen Pulse and Delicate Sound of Thunder concerts LIVE 3 times. this song always stood out.
A little more info for you as for this performance at Pulse and some of the others performances, The Ladies singing the back up are from left to right
Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine, Durga McBroom . Can't beat Floyd in my opinion BUT then again I have been listening to them over 50 yrs ! lol Thanks again!
10:51 The moment Dave and Guy just laugh about how epic it all is.
You don't just listen to Pink Floyd, you EXPERIENCE them. Also check out 'Learning to Fly'....
In 1971 Pink Floyd and a very young David Gilmore performed LIVE to the empty ampitheatre and its ghosts in Pompeii......
The record was released in 1972 and the mobie in 1973.
I recommend the video Echoes, Live in Pompeii.....parts 1 & 2.
Another masterpiece with another guitar solo to melt ones brain.
Pink Floyd have been around for a long while. The early years with Syd Barret Humour & Psychedelia on a budget! Then Roger Waters with David in the mix; creativity unleashed. Concluding with David and stadium rock!! Go on the journey you will not regret it.
Every song of theirs will be your favorite! Welcome to the rabbit hole ❤
This is my favorite performance from this concert. I thought that might be just because I've seen Comfortably Numb so many times but your reaction validates my opinion! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any number from Pulse; it's my second favorite recorded concert I've ever seen.
What a band. First heard them in early 70’s when they put out Dark Side of the Moon. Favorite band ever since.
From the same concert it has to be. One of these days. Great reaction by the way 👍🏻
Along the same lines as this song, though from The Delicate Sound of Thunder concert, is "Yet Another Movie." Still, it will be hard to top this.
Keep talking
High Hopes
Another Brick in the wall
Time
KEE P TALKING at PULSE IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE AMAZED !
There is another epic video concert from Pink Floyd, titled "The delicate sound of thunder", which is from the tour of the album "A momentary lapse of reason". You could listen to something from there too, I suggest "Money" (the uncut version with the Guy Pratt's bass solo), "Learning To Fly" and "On The Turning Away". I reaaaally think you would enjoy them very much!
Echoes Live at Pompeii, Floyd in there youth. Been into them since 1967…..a lifetime, and still listen to them most days 👍
Timeless. Legends.
Ya gotta react to Coming Back To Life from the same Pulse concert series!
Diggin' those girls doing the backup singing & that dancing in the background.
How do you recommend a Pink Floyd song 🤔....just dive deep into their rabbit hole.....please play "Crying to the sky " by BeBop Deluxe......Prince once said it was the inspiration for Purple Rain!!!!......Bill Nelson is a criminaly underrated guitarist.
You are really enjoying the Pink Floyd rabbit hole, I see. And they are one of the greatest bands in the World. However, if you want to try some different flavours but still of high quality, here are some suggestions for English rock bands that I don't think will be blocked: Deep Purple: Child in Time; Supertramp: Breakfast in America; Genesis: Firth of Fifth; Queen: We Are The Champions; Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter.
You have ua juarney.. will be nice watcjing
I was there in '94. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
React to ECHOES AT POMPEII PINK FLOYD THEY WILL BLEW UR MIND,And they fly you to planet Mars before NASA..thx enjoy
I strongly recommend you listen to the Chambers Brothers "Time Has Come Today". The song was recorded in 1967 and is one of the most underrated psychedelic songs of the era.
Great review, if you want to hear some more great guitar playing by David Gilmour check out his album Rattle that Lock and the songs, 5 AM / And Then. 😊
This also my favourate track from Pink Floyd, but the version i like to listen to is ,Dave Gilmour live in Pompeii 2016, you godda check it mate,, best wishes 👍👍
My brother (we are all Pink Floyd brothers and sisters on UA-cam lol), I have loved your PF reactions and look forward to your new ones. This one was great!
It is time that you tried Echoes: Live at Pompeii. There are two parts, part 1 and part 2. Many reactors do them both in one video, but they're about 26 minutes in total, so your choice if you make one or two videos. The important thing is that you listen to both parts. It will stay with you for the rest of your life. Pure brilliance.
As background (keeping it short here), Pink Floyd flew to Pompeii, Italy and performed these tunes as part of a movie that played in theaters so their fans could see them play live without attending a concert. No internet or MTV music videos back in the early 70's, and PF wanted to connect with their fans. They have never been about the spotlight, only the music, so many fans had never seen them before they recorded this. Pure brilliance, pure bliss. You'll love them. God bless.
Enjoying your Pink Floyd reactions. I have ONE gripe though. Please don't listen to PF with earbuds! Get headphones! Doesn't have to be anything ridiculously expensive, just not the cheapest you can find. You WILL notice the improvement. The whole earbud-generation is missing out on a better sound!
Keep it up.
Check out Echoes Live at Pompeii full version. It’s about 20 minutes and it will blow you away!
If you love Pink Floyd check out Brit Floyd. They are touring this year and deliver the Pink Floyd experience to you live. They’re all over UA-cam check them out.
@KillBimu I enjoy your reactions to Floyd and I did see a genuine SEG on your face during this video. Other songs you should listen to are One of These Days, Keep Talking, and Time. The lyrics from Time makes more sense as you grow older.
David Gilmour...what can we say, shall we call him by a name? As well to count the Angels dancing on a pin.
Echoes is a must. Try the Live in Pompeii version
Hey bro, really enjoying your videos, I have a feeling that if you keep it real and as honest as you've been you will get some great numbers! Anyway, there are a few bands that I think you will truly appreciate as much as Zeppelin and Floyd and they are Rush and Rammstein.....friggin king makers those two. Tom Sawyer from Rush (studio) and Du Hast live in Paris. And if you like pure live performances check out Triumph at the US Festival. Pronounced us, not U.S. Rock on my man.
My favorite Pink Floyd song is whichever is playing at that moment 😅. May I suggest from the same concert, "on the run." In the concert they will have a plane fly across the stadium right over everyone's head and crash into an explosion right next to people at the end of the instrumental.
You gotta do Echoes Live At Pompeii from early 1970's. Its a long song, many chapters, it will leave you amazed and may be even confused at one stage. Its a brilliant song, David Gilmour is incredible in it.
Run Like Hell. Finale. Same show.
My friend, if you are loving the extended solos that Gilmour does live, then you must listen to “on the Turning Away” from Pulse! David’s solo will blow you away!
On The Turning Away was not performed at the Pulse concert. It's from the momentary lapse of reason tour
I stand corrected. You are right. They also performed it on the DSOT tour. That’s what I was thinking of.
@@harryviv
Cool. I just pointed it out in Case he searched for it on the Pulse concert and couldn't find it.👍
Another one of my favourites but not quite up there with Comfortably Numb for guitar work. Can't remember, have you done On The Turning Away from the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert?
I Suggest To Get A BOSE Earphones .. Sounds Are Awesome 🎸🎼
David normally struggles with lyrics, but he wrote and composed this song in one weekend and my goodness, what a gem. I once had this song, this performance, locked in my head as an earworm on endless repeat for two solid weeks. I tried everything but just had to wait for it to quit on its own. I didn't mind too much, it's Sorrow after all, but it got kind of ridiculous, never had one stick that long.
I don't know if I'd agree that he struggles, per se, (most of his finished work is fantastic), but I do agree that it doesn't come to him the way it does Roger. And I'm firmly in camp David as far as the Division (Bell) goes.
@@ianfortier6796Well, really just parroting him as he has said that writing lyrics is more difficult for him than composing. That's probably the major difference between Dave and Roger musically, Dave is a composer, Roger is a writer. Many of his lyrics post-Waters are either shared credit or credited to others (chiefly Polly, which I don't have a problem with, as she is a writer and a good one - go with your strengths). I agree though, I love all his stuff, and I would travel far and pay much to see him again (losing hope these days, but still holding a flickering little flame). Saw him last in Chicago for his Rattle That Lock tour - fantastic show.
You should watch Pink Floyd's Marooned and enjoy a no lyrics track
Great reaction! Can't wait till you get to Echo's Live from Pompei
You wanna hear some good guitar? Solos and rifts, One of these days, high hopes, shine on you Crazy diamond, have a Cigar, Learning to fly Pink Floyd just endless the Greatest band ever.
I remember trying to force my friends to listen to this they were all so brainwashed on rap they missed true talent. If you got 5k watts and subs you can come close to what this really should sounds/feel like.
Listen to Janis Joplin's performance of "Ball And Chain" at The 1967 Monterey Pop Festival
Q - What’s your favorite Pink Floyd song?
A - The next one.
Sorrow is a great song but I'd put many other
PF songs ahead of it including Time, Shine on you crazy diamond, Echoes, One of these days, Comfortably Numb, Dogs, High Hopes and more ahead of it.
God music
