I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed. I sparked up my pipe for this reaction, as I do to all Pink Floyd songs. Thanks
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a David Gilmour show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS
I'm so glad you picked up Rick Wright's ability to brew atmosphere and create engaging soundscapes, he really did put the foundations in place for nearly all Pink Floyd songs. The Division Bell tour (Pulse) was a magical experience, one of my favourite gigs along with Peter Gabriel's Growing Up tour that was also spectacular.
Watch "Echoes" from Gilmour's "Live in Gdansk" concert. It was Rick Wright's last public performance before he passed away. I bawl like an infant every time I hear it. It was also the last time Gilmour would play "Echoes", 'cause he said he just can't conceive of performing the song without Wright.
@mrz80 there is something magical and other worldly about the performance live from Gdansk, I think deep down they both knew this was the last time they would perform this, 2 best friends sharing a very personal moment with all us fans, the looks they kept sharing during the performance was so emotional. Made even more special by that fact the Dave Gilmour could not bring himself to perform Echoes ever again. And for me it was not just the telepathic harmonies, it was also the incredible atmospheric tapestry Rick was weaving with his music.
I remember discovering pink Floyd for first-time around 13 years old, and they blew me away then as they still do at 62 ..Incredibly talented. They stand alone .
On The Turning Away. Live DSOT remastered 2019. Richards opening along with arguably Davids best solo, the lyrics, backing vocalists, cinematography... close to perfection..again.
I am sorry about your dad My parents are gone now....they were wondetful. Im an old lady of alnost 65 but will aleays love floyd..the song is about whatever it means to you.
Excellent choice, brother. For context, I saw this tour at a 70,000-seat American football stadium, made of concrete and steel, and those bass notes made the structure vibrate under us. I am not excreting you. Between the light show, and the music, it was just an incredible experience. It was even better than it looks. I prayed for your Dad. I hope he gets better soon. ❤️
I've always loved what David did for the intro and the outro of this song. When combined with his guitar work and solo for the main parts of the song, it was like he served the crowd a divinity-created, multi-layered cake.
Fortunately I don't have to just "Imagine" what it was like to be there, I was in the middle of it all.... In A Trance...Mesmerized. I've seen Gilmour/P.F. 4 times. I Spark Up My Pipe 3 -4 times per day for the past 57 years of happiness and smiles now at 70.
Comfortably Numb kept me from doing drugs when young. Back in the 1970s. I still stay away from drugs. The song and the band are very good to have in your head......😊
You are 100% correct young man. Seeing Pink Floyd live was not just a rock concert; more akin to a religious experience! Glad you can get a feel for how it was by watching this great concert.
This piece (and, really, so many of their creations) just leave you speechless - so much talent! Think about it - this concert was thirty years ago, and more than twenty years after their inception in the late sixties. So many years they've been sharing the gift of their music with us. Prayers for a quick and full recovery for your dad.
Another great Pink Floyd reaction. Phenomenal aren’t they. Hey! It’s been 12 days, time for that closer (Run Like Hell) reaction. It will blow your mind, especially the end.
In the words of George Harrison,Beatles lead guitar, who once said that taking LSD had transformed him. Psychedelics does open up doors to perception. Peyote opened Jim Morrison perception enough to name his band the Doors, doors to perception. Dude you are right on and that's coming from a 71 yo aging hippie :) One of my best memories,to an extent, going to see Pink Floyd and the audience were all tripped out as well as the band. They asked the audience if it was ok for then to keep playing. The audience went wiled. A show that was to end around 11 finished after two. Magical... This was long before all the lights and massive production that became Pink Floyd 's trademark.
the art of music, used properly music can make you trip out without ANY substance. david is a master of his instrument and knows what will LET it "speak" to your soul
Back in the day nobody put on a Show like Floyd, they always went all out at every show, they never phoned in a performance, or left anyone wanting more! "Learning To Fly" at the 94 Pulse Concert has a light show extraordinaire in the songs mid-section, as Pink Floyd is known to do, they recreate a landing field atmosphere with lasers and lighting coming from everywhere in the venue. "High Hopes" is another phenomenal performance at Pulse, it's an opportunity to see and hear, Gilmour playing a Classical Guitar during the song and an incredible solo on a Lap Steel Guitar to end the song.
Great reaction! It's good to hear a shout out to Mr. Wright every now and again. In my opinion he was the fabric that helped tie Waters and Gilmore's individual styles tightly together .All the best to your grandpa 👍
I was there at Earl's Court. It was the most amazing concert I have ever seen, before or since. Thanks for the great reaction Lee! I hope your Dad will be Ok.
Thanks for a great video. I highly recommend seeing Brit Floyd live in concert. They are true to Pink Floyd and have the same show. Seen them 8 times, and it's just fantastic as I never got to see Pink Floyd live.
Lee it was an amazing experience to be there - one of the three greatest concerts of my life and two of them were by Pink Floyd, this one and the Wall. ( the third was Talking Heads and can be still experienced in part through the movie ‘Stop making sense’) With Floyd it was not just the music and the visuals but the feel of it. The guitar on sorrow literally vibrated every molecule in your body and you physically felt every note. Thankfully the progressive music of the 70s was enough to give me the highs that probably prevented me from doing anything more than the odd smoke of whacky baccy and a liberal amount of alcohol. Best wishes to you and your Grandad. You have the right attitude now in living and optimising every moment because believe me when I confirm that there comes a point in life where time just keeps taking things away and its good to look back on all the positive experiences that you were able to store up along the way.
Every song on that tour was an event..... and typically with Pink Floyd... they were there on the stage, tiny people in that huge space, but a sound that is unparalleled and visuals that no-one else could match... But when you were there you were there for the whole sensory experience, No screens, no phones, Just an audience experiencing the band and their music as a whole thing.... luckily I was there on that tour and it is still with me... only I now get to see the details and rember it all.... with you... Keep on Rocking.
Every song from Pulse is legendary. This show is legendary. Still in 2024. This tour was something more than a tour. Imagine that you see in the sky this zeppelin with name pink Floyd.
Great concert! And now imagine that with this tour they were in Prague in 1994, among other places. Of course, I bought a ticket (as a big fan of this band), but the day before the concert I got a severe strep throat and fever. Since the weather forecast called for heavy rain and cold for that day (which came true), it was out of the question for me to go. To this day it is one of the saddest days of my life :-(. My friend, to whom I gave the ticket, still blesses me!
I saw this show in Columbus Ohio the technical part was astounding. You literally could not take it all in. Too much. I seen probably 15 reactions to this and you are the only person to mention the production. Love your perspective. Every time I hear these guys think they are the best. Then I hear the Beatles and they grab the best spot in my head. It may be a tossup. 12,000 and growing.
High Hopes, Money, Another Brick In The Wall, One Of These Days, Shine On You Crazy Diamond; Are my next 5 favorites from this epic concert series...The way each song gets its own motif and becomes something unto itself is nothing short of amazing.
Having been l lucky enough to see Pink Floyd during this tour, it was an experience not just a concert. Remembering the laser show was 30 years ago. If you want to see some Wright and Gilmour playing off one another check out Echos last time with Rick Wright
It was better being in my 20’s in the 70’s than in my 70’s in the 20’s :) But well worth it to grow up with bands like Floyd! Loved your metaphysical comments, which I totally agree with. I first experienced Floyd and LSD when I was 16. Both influenced my subsequent philosophical / spiritual journey. You’re on the right track Lee. Hoping your grandad recovers soon, but remember that “Birth is not a beginning, death is not an end “
Thank you I really appreciate that. I know it's just another beginning but I can't help my physical self aching for him. I know whatever lies beyond this life is something new and I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it... to put it simply lol. This song Is magical. They have this Way of pulling your emotions straight out of you that I've never seen before 😪
I agree with your comment about being in your 20's in the 70's! I was a teen in the 70's and it was great growing up back then! We had the best music and the best times! I
Man, Pulse was and will remain, the shit. Great reaction and my prayers for your Dad. Your perspective is astonishingly refreshing. Your mind is open. Keeping maya at bay. Further.
The stage show was awesome. I saw it once and had to go back for 3 more helpings. The show was only 25 dollars. What a bargain. Worth every penny! One show was at Giants stadium on the 50 yard line.
I can't speak to Earl's Court, but I saw this tour at Mile High Stadium in Denver. Open Air. The clouds were just as thick, and it wasn't part of the production. 😂
I'm glad you are digging deep into the greats. David Gilmour just broke the mold of what a really great guitarist is... 🎸 👏 I saw this tour and a few others and each time it was mindblowing. The sound at all the shows, indoors or out was perfect. The sound engineers were something special...
My bad!! I posted similar comments on other reaction vids last night and remembered to include the Beatles every time. Can't believe I left them off here. I have a bunch of their stuff. It's amazes me how a Beatles song will come up on my play list, or on the radio...and you just turn it up and start singing. Their music is timeless. @@richardcollette9884
Thank you. It's My grandpa I just call him pops. He's the best. It's a shame what he's going through.. I appreciate the kind words 🙏 I bet this show was life changing 👍
From what I remember they had 3 of those massive stages built for this tour. A huge convoy of big rigs were on the road at any one time, transporting the stage itself from one venue to the next, & setting up all of those lights & lasers in preparation of the next stadium they would be playing.. I saw them twice in Oakland on this tour. UA-cam has several videos available showing the behind the scenes stuff. I know they leapfrogged around America with all of their equipment. Supposedly the entire stage was constructed to match the old Hollywood Bowl setting where they had played back in the 1960s. And aren't those backup singers spectacular.. .
I was about your age when I first saw P.F. on acid about 1973 and how you described the change it made for you. I'm still listening to them... however the change.for me remains without the chemical assistance. I agree with all you described. It allowed me to make the singular most important life decision...to go through life happy or sad. Everything's going to depend on which of those 2 directions you choose. I choose happy and I still see the "one" of us and it makes me smile. Have a good life my friend.
It's worth being old now, to have been young then.
It was much greater to be in our 20's in the 70's, rather than in our 70's in the 20's...

David's guitar play is as smooth as silk...never misses a note, doesn't even break sweat
Filmed 30 years ago and is still, in my opinion, the greatest concert in history.
When the synthesizer and organ came on... the whole place was vibrating. Best damn concert ever.

My first ever concert was Pink Floyd in 1988 in Perth. Never forget it. Hope you dad gets better soon
I saw this tour in D.C.at RFK stadium. To this day it's still the best show i've ever been to
Man, Pulse was and will remain, the shit. Great reaction and my prayers for your Dad.
Your perspective is astonishingly refreshing. Your mind is open. Keeping maya at bay. Further.
You have been floyded bro 🤟🏽
So sorry about your dad man. I honesty hope he gets well very soon. Liked and subscribed. Keep us posted re your dad please 🙏 🙂
Echos Pompeii 1972, mind blowing
I was at the concerts for both Division Bell and Momentary lapse of reason (" Pulse")
tour..... It was awesome!!!
The stage show was awesome. I saw it once and had to go back for 3 more helpings. The show was only 25 dollars. What a bargain. Worth every penny!
One show was at Giants stadium on the 50 yard line.
They use foggers in the room, which the lights pick up and it looks like random clouds. My Pink Floyd band uses these.
I can't speak to Earl's Court, but I saw this tour at Mile High Stadium in Denver. Open Air. The clouds were just as thick, and it wasn't part of the production. 😂
Sorry to hear about your Dad. I'll keep him and you in my prayers! God bless!
Yay I was waiting for you to do this song!! Keep on keeping on!!🎵🎶❤️🥰
Sorry to hear about your dad
So sorry to hear what your father is going through. Wishing you all well.
I'm glad you are digging deep into the greats. David Gilmour just broke the mold of what a really great guitarist is... 🎸 👏 I saw this tour and a few others and each time it was mindblowing. The sound at all the shows, indoors or out was perfect. The sound engineers were something special...
You are in the presence of Gods my friend. The Stones, SRV, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, that's the God list brother.
And to too forget the band that started it all...The Beatles. One of the most,if not the best, experimental bands ever.

Sorry about your dad hope he can get better. People who was there they could not believe what they saw and heard. Some said that it changed them
And aren't those backup singers spectacular.. .
This is basically about the damage that we are doing to the planet and yes it was unbelievable to be there and hear/ see it live.
Another great song and performance!!
Yes, oh& the capacity there is 20,000& they had 15 nights of this FULL
MASTERS& GODS ❤
I'm 66 now, my son Shane always calls me Pops - Rock on L33!
And of course I raised him on classic Rock 🙂

I was about your age when I first saw P.F. on acid about 1973 and how you described the change it made for you. I'm still listening to them... however the change.for me remains without the chemical assistance. I agree with all you described. It allowed me to make the singular most important life decision...to go through life happy or sad. Everything's going to depend on which of those 2 directions you choose. I choose happy and I still see the "one" of us and it makes me smile. Have a good life my friend.
I went to their Division Bell tour in Detroit.
