The song is called I fell in love again last night I'm thinking that it's the makaya sisters those 3 sisters I remember that and I know I'm close on the name
This was #1 on the country charts and the billboard hot 100 .....it was also voted the best country duet of all time...... it was originally written as an R&B no for Diana Ross but later reworked as a country duet for Kenny & Dolly...... that's how versatile the Beegees were .....Barry Gibb apart from writing the song also did the demo tapes for the duo.... .
Because they performed together often and were good friends rumors about them being more than friends abounded of course, but I highly doubt they were more than rumors. I especially say this because Dolly would use the rumors to tease Kenny Rogers on stage because he would get flustered and turn red. Finally in one of their final appearances together before Rogers' death, she said something to the effect of, 'People have been saying it for years, do you want to hold them?' expecting him to get flustered and turn red, but instead he said something like, 'I think I will,' and she turned red. He finally turned the tables on her.
The Bee Gees wrote the song for Kenny. It did not sound right with just Kenny. They got Dolly to try it with Kenny and they loved it. There is a video with the Bee Gees about how they did this.
It was also told that the None of the Bee Gees or Kenny Rogers knew how to contact Dolly. One of the Studio workers had seen Dolly Parton earlier in the day at the Studio and had gotten her Phone Number in case he needed to contact her. The Bee Gees called, and Dolly was excited to sing a Bee Gees song and sing a duet with Kenny Rogers, that helped start a lifelong friendship.
The Bees Gees never recorded the song themselves, but there is a great live performance from the One Night Only concert film from the late 90s. So, if you ever want to hear it done by the guys who wrote it, there you have it!
Lionel Richie wrote Lady for Kenny. Awesome song and lyrics. The story Kenny tells is hilarious about when Lionel told Kenny he is working on song called Lady. If you can find him telling the story, it is worth the time listening to it.
Ghetto superstars chorus is the same as this song OK they were fundamentally involved with using the sound for ghetto superstar for this song for that song, so it sounds the same with the instrumentals
Their friendship and partnership was beautiful. Losing Kenny in 2020 was so hard! Two videos are a must for you! First, their live performance of “We’ve Got Tonight” the way they entertained and “poked-fun” at each other was magical. After Kenny passed this video circulated. Kenny and Dolly - You Can’t Make Old Friends
Not only Barry. All the Bee Gees wrote this song. Barry always gets too much credit. Robin was known to write songs in only 20 minutes. They werre all oh so gifted.
@@randyhein7324 Barry made the demo, he produced it with the bee gees team (and no one of his brothers) , Barry had the credit he deserves And Barry made songs too in 10 minutes (for example grease)

You HAVE to react to Kenny Rogers “Lady” it was written and produced by Lionel Richie. Kenny Rogers is a definite wormhole worth going down. His storytelling is unmatched.
Dolly is one AMAZING Lady!!! She's done so much over the years of her life. She's in multiple movies, she sings (of course) she has her own theme park called Dollywood, she's partnered with United Way and created Dolly Parton's imagination Library where she sends children a book a month up until they are 5 years old. Both my children were part of it and they can pass them down to their own children one day. She's given so much money to so many charity's. I love her so much.
You should listen to Kenny's live version of Lady, especially the dedication to Lionel Richie. They perform it together. Definitely what i call a "laugh, cry, it's moving" song 🎵
They had such a special friendship. Their song "You Can't Make Old Friends" is a must. Watch the official music video though. It's so much more meaningfully now since Kenny sadly has passed 😞
This song was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb (The Bee Gees). Barry gave the song to Kenny to record. They got to the studio and started recording. Kenny told Barry that he didn't like the song anymore. Barry agreed that it needed something else. After thinking for a moment, he said it needs Dolly Parton. Kenny and Dolly had never met, but she just happened to be right there in the same studio. This was recorded in 1983, and wasn't "sampled" from anyone. The Bee Gees wrote it the same year Kenny and Dolly recorded it.
The account you are giving about this song lines up with what Kenny Rogers said in a 2020 interview with People magazine, but is different from what Barry Gibbs said in an interview in 2021. "There were so many songs that were really written in the spirit of country music. “Islands in the Stream,” for instance, was written for Diana Ross, but when I agreed to work with Kenny [Rogers], he wanted to do a duet with Dolly. And so we suggested that one - we knew it was good, we knew it was potentially very strong, but we didn’t know it was a duet. So we just went to work on that, and the R&B song became a country song." In the 2020 interview Rogers said the song was written for Marvin Gaye. It is possible one of these is accounts is true or neither and they both just made up what ever sounded good at the time. Not much way to really know.
Had the pleasure of seeing Kenny & Dolly in concert together; they toured together on/off over the years. Their chemistry was undeniable & they were so much fun to watch along with being incredibly talented duet partners. They played off each other perfectly.
When she apologized to him it was because she stepped on his foot.😁 They were incredibly close friends. Kenny once said " If Dolly thinks it, she says it."
Oh thank goodness. I've seen this performance so many times, and I've always wondered when she said that and then moved away from him if he'd gotten handsy or something. Thank you for clearing that up!
Love your reactions. You are a joy to watch. I may be old (71) but I love great music and it does my heart good to see young people enjoying these classics. Also I am learning that lots of young artists are still finding these songs great enough to sample and share. Plus I get to be introduced to some hip hop that I never would have begun to explore without you young reactors. I was so proud I knew Ghetto Superstar. 😃😃 Keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing and all your hard work with us. Peace 😊🤗😊🤗
I grew up in the late 70's and 80's Kenny and Dolly were my favorite artists as a kid. I was blown away when they did this collab. It was like getting chocolate in my peanut butter.
When I was a teenager I sang the chorus of ghetto superstar to get my baby brother asleep. One day my dad heard me and thought I (personally) ruined this version. We each had no idea the other song existed. 20 years later we still enjoy both songs. 😎
Great! Another excellent duet between them is We’ve got tonight. Their banter is hilarious! He had had a hit with Sheena Easton, but you have to see the teasing!!!
if you haven't listened to Kenny Rogers sing "Lady" you are missing out. I was fairly young when it came out, but after hearing that man sing that song I had a full on crush.
Dolly is the ABSOLUTE BEST! My 2 yr old granddaughter asks EVERY day for " Down " ( Jolene ) of course what she's talking about. When Kenny was first starting out he came to the town I live in, and he didn't even sell out the high school football field. This song was written by the Bee Gees. If you ever get the chance go to Sevierville or Gatlinburg and go to the Dixie Stampede and go to Dollywood. She is such a huge part of that community, because she came from there. She actually gave each family affected by the fires that effected the area money to help them try to get through until they could talk to the insurance companies. It was $3000 or $5000 a family and she provided the library with computers and books. In my eyes she's just an AMAZING soul and I think that country music as well as just everyone she's touched in any way, has been blessed. I don't think there is a video but she has a song, that I love, with her and Kesha. The fact that she sings with all these younger audiences says ALOT. Sorry this was so long.
I love these guys together. They had such chemistry on stage and were great friends off stage too. You should watch their live performance of "We've Got Tonight" at one of his concerts. He originally cut it with Sheena Easton, and that is a great version too, but I love seeing them singing together. Also, Barry Gibb, from the BeeGees, wrote this song. He wrote a lot of hit songs.

Love some Dolly, but Kenny on another level. He was the King of Country in my opinion. So many great love ballads and the stories he tells..voice is golden
Here is a song you might like and relate too very much, it is by Brad Paisley he didn't have to be.. great story and I heard on one of your video's that you use to be a single Mom, so you would relate very well with this one. Yes it is country
These two made love to each other musically with this song! The chemestry between them is undeniable. Everyone who hears them sing that song is fanning themselves EVERY TIME! When she says to Kenny something like "excuse me Kenny," She implies that there is something going on! LOL In reality they were both married and deeply in love with their respective partners.
I have loved Dolly my whole life. She was my first crush. I saw her on SNL when I was like 8. That was enough, besides from what I have heard she is one of the kindest most legit people in the world.
_A "shout out" from a fellow reactor... Great review!! I must echo so many other comments with the suggestion _*_"Lady"... LIVE in 1980_*_ . This is WHERE you will hear more of those gritty, raspy vocals which you refer to as red merlot, lol... This was my first YT reaction ever, 3 years ago, and I've grown so much musical awareness since then._
Dolly Parton is one of the great treasures of the world. This duet made a huge smash in the culture back in the day when TV was everything. I was older before I found out that Barry Gibb wrote it. Love the Bee Gees, too!!!
A song written by the Bee Gees Barry Gibb back in 1984. Still to this day still one of the top selling country hits all time. I saw the Bee Gees sing it in concert in 1997 in Las Vegas...GREAT VERSION!!!
@@pfcampos7041 there is a version where Dolly surprises Kenny on stage to sing it with him. She does make reference to Sheena Easton during the duet, though.
Kenny started out in the late 1950's recording with "The Scholars" and then joined the "New Christy Minstrels" in 1966 which became "Kenny Rogers and the First Edition" which scored the 60's a psychedelic rocker "What condition my condition was in" made even more famous by "The Big Lebowski" cult hit movie in the 90's. In between, he had a massive country music career with hit's such as "Ruby, don't take your love to town." and "The Gambler" and "Lucille"........I've missed a lot of stuff here, but Kenny, like Dolly, is a music icon, whose impact on music cannot be overstated.
My favorite one by Kenny and Dolly show how deep their love for each other was is You Can't Make Old Friends.. I watched it and cried after Kenny died knowing Dollys heart was breaking 💔
If you want to see how truly iconic Dolly's songwriting skills are, watch her sing "Down from Dover" live from London. She wrote it when she was 18 years old. That, and "Me and little Andy".....you will cry!
Great reaction and what you said is very true. If you have not listened to Kenny Rogers song: Lady written by Lionel Richie you need to. You will truly love it and him.
When she says “excuse me Kenny”, idk if she made a mistake, but she’s such a professional it doesn’t even phase her and she just carries on! Another hit written by the amazing BeeGees! Kenny singing “Lady” live with his cool white suit….you’ll love it!
@@carolynnewcomb2153 You can see it on the video. He doesn't miss a beat. With her tiny feet and weighing as much as a hummingbird I doubt he even felt it. Ha!
Dolly and Kenny are the absolute best musical marriage of all time. Their friendship, respect and love for one another is without words I can find. Simply Amazing
I'll tell you back in my day after a date with me the woman was singing the song that they fell in love last night and that was a popular song by the macaya sisters code I fell in love again last night they did it last night 3 sisters I fell in love again last night the macaya sister
This song came out in 1983 and was a huge hit, knocking Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart off the Billboard Hot 100 number one spot. It was written by the BeeGees and was supposed to be for Diana Ross in an R&B style but was reworked into a country song for Kenny and Dolly. This came out when I was 5 years old and I loved it even then. In my kindergarten class the teacher was asking kids to go up before the group and sing their favorite songs, which most kids doing songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Mary had a Little Lamb, I got up and started singing this song to some very confused looks...
I love watching your videos Britt, and you got a great voice. Amazing. 🤗🤗. Thank you for this song. It’s one of my favorites. You honestly don’t hear music meaningful like this day and age.
Fun fact. You will never hear a sour nore out of dolly she has perfect pitch. Her tag line is "It take a lot of money to look this cheap" her perfect pitch is also a reson she can talk in the middle of a phrase and come backmin dead on.
Dolly wrote this song a long with I will always love and no many more. She is a National Treasure for sure. Hate to burst your bubble.....Dolly always wears a wig. She says her hair is to thin to do anything with it. So she wears wigs, also she had a breast reduction done because they were messing up her back. Another little secret about Dolly.
Next, check out Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. Both are every bit the country royalty that Kenny and Dolly are. I recommend "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" to start with by them. You will love Conway's growl and Loretta was known to be a real "Firecracker"... Another duet worth checking out... Loretta's little sister, Crystal Gayle and Eddie Rabbitt, "Just You and I"
They were rumored to be lovers for many years, but not true. They both admit to being attracted but if they were to act upon it they would ruin the chemistry. 3 must listens are we’ve got tonight with Kenny and Dolly live. And Kenny Rodgers singing lady live. Lady was written by he and Lionel Richie. But I love the way Kenny sang it. And then Kenny and dollys last performance before he passed of you can’t make old friends. He was sick by then but the chemistry and deep love and playful banter was still there. It was a magical performance
I just love your enthusiasm. This is one of my favorite songs and watching you enjoy it makes me feel like I'm listening to it for the first time. You're doing a true services introducing these songs to your followers.
OMG. When you were trying to figure out what song sampled this. You started humming and I had no idea what song you were talking about, but you are so good with your pitches and musical ear, the first thing I said when you hummed that was sounds something like Maya would sound like. Then not 30 sec later you remembered and mentioned the song. You are amazing!
You need to react to dolly and Kenny’s farewell concert . When they sing you can’t make old friends. It also includes the very last time they sang islands in the stream. Dolly got emotional and Kenny passed away not too long after
Dolly Parton truly is a national treasure, an absolute sweetheart! The duo of her and Kenny Rogers is legendary! One song you absolutely MUST react to of his is Lady!! Preferably the live version in the early 80's. He was in a white suit. It will melt your heart, guaranteed!!
Yes! Kenny Rogers was the male equivalent of Dolly back in the 80's. When this song came out it was a huge hit on almost every chart you can imagine. And like Dolly, Kenny should be in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame too. He worked closely with artists like Lionel Richie, Sheena Easton, and was even a collaborator on the mega-hit We Are the World in 1985. You should absolutely check out some of his songs like The Gambler (maybe his biggest solo hit ever), Coward of the County, Lady (which Lionel Richie wrote specifically for Kenny), and She Believes in Me. Just by himself Kenny Rogers is a rabbit hole to go down that has no end but his duets are the stuff of legends!
They sound beautiful together always loved Kenny rogers and dolly Parton and them seeing this song together was amazing.. I could listen to them sing together all night long.. This definitely was a very big hit song back in 1983 ..my generation...
BeeGees Barry Gibb song for Kenny Rogers solo, but he felt it needed to be a duo. Dolly married in 1966, not to Kenny. She is married over 56 years. BTW BeeGees, Eagles & Fleetwood Mac top of game in the late 90s. When i visited Garret Aviation in 1988, Kenny's biz jet was in the hangar next to Barbara Streisand's and John Travoltas. John had a Gulf stream we powered up outside plus a Boeing 727.
Dolly Parton is simply a national treasure. She might be the most grounded superstar there is. Such a great woman.
National Treasure is the best title for her!

I love how you notice all the little details of people. Your a very observant person who is beautiful inside and out. Great reaction 😁
One of my favourite songs is The Gambler by Kenny Rogers… it tells a story. You’ll love it!
Barry Gibb of the BeeGees wrote this. He also wrote Chain reaction for Diana Ross. Lionel Richie wrote Lady for Kenny rogers.
I have loved Dolly my whole life. She was my first crush. I saw her on SNL when I was like 8. That was enough, besides from what I have heard she is one of the kindest most legit people in the world.
I couldn't hit that "subscribe" button fast enough! Somebody else who notices the fashion as well as the wonderful singing!
Dolly’s hair is always amazing. She wears wigs all the time…and she admits it. She has a ton of them.
Dolly is one of the latest member of the Rock'N'Roll Hall of Fame.
"We Got Tonight" is another fun duet between Dolly and Kenny.
I may be mistaken but I thought that duet was with Shena Easton...
@@pfcampos7041 It was released with Sheena Easton, but he and Dolly sang it at one of their concerts together, and it was a great live performance.
😢
@brittreacts when this song came out, I was in college. It went #1 country and pop! A HUGE crossover hit!
If you want to see how truly iconic Dolly's songwriting skills are, watch her sing "Down from Dover" live from London. She wrote it when she was 18 years old. That, and "Me and little Andy".....you will cry!

@@brittreacts Dolly has been married 56 years to same man. Just a musical pairing performance
She stepped on his foot. Ha!
@@rsw1227 Oooh- I always wondered what that was about!
@@carolynnewcomb2153 You can see it on the video. He doesn't miss a beat. With her tiny feet and weighing as much as a hummingbird I doubt he even felt it. Ha!
@@rsw1227 That is the story that I have always heard, she is so polite!
These too always had a special connection
Dolly and Kenny are the absolute best musical marriage of all time. Their friendship, respect and love for one another is without words I can find. Simply Amazing
She is special. Great talent and amazing personality
I'll tell you back in my day after a date with me the woman was singing the song that they fell in love last night and that was a popular song by the macaya sisters code I fell in love again last night they did it last night 3 sisters I fell in love again last night the macaya sister
Kenny Roger's and Dolly Parton had a huge chemistry. Dolly Partons her music.
Two supremely talented vocalists as well as performers and not all are BOTH
when you said 'when i hang up this phone its gonna come to me' took me back to the old days
Yes her perfect pitch gives her a ton of freedom in songs. Itis also why se will often harmonize with people instead of taking lead
Loretta's little sister, Crystal Gayle and Eddie Rabbitt, "Just You and I"
I remember watching this live on tv when I was a kid. They are both national treasures!!
Hi, Britt! My husband and I loved this song so much that after we were pronounced husband and wife, that song was played! You're doing terrific!
Dolly's one of the best at ad libs.
Kenny sang country as well, have a listen to his song 'Reuben James" when he was with his group 'Kenny Rogers and The First Edition'
I always loved the Christmas albums they did together ❤️
You are so much fun to watch as you enjoy music. I love how you can just pick up with any song perfect pitch. A true Ray of Sunshine!
This might be one of my fave reactions of all time. lol You were so genuinely tickled with them.
One of my all time favorite songs - of any genre! Dolly Parton is one of our most important artists, ever.
I love how you love talking about Dolly! You crack me up girl!!!!
This was written by the Bee Gees.
Unfortunately it was dear old Barry who worked his magic on this one as well, wasn't it... He did a decent job on it though, di'nt he...
