Loretta was known as the queen of country music. A true icon! Her career spanned six decades! RIP 🙏🌹
Tennessee meets Kentucky! Great singing!
Loretta, came after Patsy Cline and before Dolly. Loretta, told it like it was in her songs. R.I.P. Loretta
Patsy took Loretta under her wing and they became the best of friends.
Sissy Spacek won an Oscar for playing Loretta in the autobiographical movie Coal Miners Daughter! It was a big hit!
Britt, you just gotta dive into Loretta Lynn's catalog. She was pure talent wrapped up in pure sass. The songs she wrote were about everyday women and spoke out for a generation. Her song "The Pill" was so empowering commentary for women that many radio stations banned it. RIP to the OG Country Queen.
Loretta was a badass. No one messed with her. The song The Pill was about birth control with in the 60' was very controversial. Many radio stationed banned it completely.
Loretta Lynn the 1st lady of country music and a fellow Kentuckian! ♥️ (Fist City)Loretta's song is a must.
Loretta will ALWAYS be the Queen of country
Two absolutely amazing women. Loretta, with that sweet smile on her face, was a complete badass who sang the realities of her life. Many of her songs, like "The Pill", were banned by country radio stations because of that. And Dolly, whip-smart businesswoman & incredibly talented singer/songwriter. It's a joy to see them together.
The movie, 'Coal Miner's Daughter ' is about Loretta's life. It's really interesting
Dolly, Loretta and Tammy Wynette recorded an entire album together "Honky Tonk Angels" - absolutely amazing.
Loretta is the Queen of Country. You should watch her movie "Coal Miners Daughter" 😊
LORETTA kicked the doors down that ALL the others walked through while staying true to herself. Never changing who she was. I was blessed to have met her many times. She was the same off stage as on. She didn't care if you saw her in curlers and no make up. She made time for her fans. She was one of us. God rest the Queen of County Music ❤️
Loretta was famous before anyone ever heard of Dolly Parton. Her best friend was Patsy Cline. Radio stations wouldn't play "The Pill."
Dolly and Loretta both wrote their own music. Loretta was the Queen
Loretta Lynn was Dolly’s idol. Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn were friends, and famous, before anyone heard of Dolly Parton. So Dolly is giving respect to her idol in this video. 😃
Loretta Lynn pave the path for people like Dolly, Parton, and her songs are usually about her life every one of them
Loretta is the Lady who forced country music to observe the truth about everything she was the most controversial lady singing ever she pissed the establishment off always love her and you and Dolly
Loretta Lynn the queen of country music wrote all her songs she be very miss now her songs will live on forever now.👍
Before Dolly Parton was a queen, Loretta was queen of Country music!❤
That's country royalty right there on those stools. Miss Dolly and Miss Loretta. Country music wouldn't be country music without those two wonderful ladies. RIP to the Queen of country music, the Coal Miner's Daughter herself, Miss Loretta Lynn.
Loretta Lynn was one of the few performers who had a movie made about her life and Sissy Spacek won an Oscar for portraying her. That should tell you a little bit about Loretta Lynn. Check out "Coal Miner's Daughter". Song and movie.
"delved" is a perfect word to talk about coal mining. "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" really paints that picture.
My father, grandfather and uncles were all coal miners. My dad was 15 when he started. I still have several male family members who are coal miners. It’s a hard life. 37% of the world’s electricity is still generated from coal. I think of my dad every time I turn a light on.
Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn pretty much lived the same life. They've been friends for years!! Loretta had a ton of kids! Her husband was a trifling mean alcoholic!!
Loretta Lynn and her sons did alot for women's rights! She spoke her mind and let everyone know how she felt about certain things ❤
Loretty was born true, true to life and all her music. Dolly came later
You got to watch The movie: Coal Miner's Daughter Sissy Spacek played Loretta, Tommy Lee Jones, of Men in Black, played her husband Doo Little. You will learn how poor, just like Dolly, Loretta was growing up. Great movie. In fact, Loretta had so much spunk that she insisted that Sissy play her even before Sissy knew about the role. Loretta would go on talk shows announcing she wanted Sissy Spacek to play her in the movie.
And Sissy Spacek could hold her own in the singing department. There are some great videos of Loretta and Sissy singing together.
Loretta was and will remain my favorite female artist. She was real and never forgot her roots. RIP Miss Loretta.
"We worked hard so at night we were tired." Loretta was very young when she got started in country music.
Loretta’s Song The Pill was so controversial when it came out they wouldn’t even play it on Radio …. Love me some Loretta
R.I.P. Loretta, it's only been 5 months since she died. First got to know Loretta when my grandmother bought a copy of her autobiography "A Coal Man's Daughter". I been a big fan since 1980. She really wrote songs about everyday life.
You need to do some of Loretta's music! She was revolutionary in country music!! She spoke out for women by singing about things people wouldn't even talk about at the time. She was a trailblazer!!
Loretta was s straight shooter! She wrote about her own life experiences & stayed true to herself. She said in an interview the record co executives tried to get her change her diction, but it didn't work. I love that about her. You should listen to her sing Fist City - what a hoot, she wasn't about to let anybody run over her! A beautiful, sassy, tell it like it is lady from the hills of Eastern Ky. RIP Loretta, your shoes are going to be hard to fill!
Loretta is a country Icon!!
Loretta Lynn was the undisputed Queen of Country music. She was so feisty! I so clearly remember my mom playing her records while she cleaned the house. Beautiful memories.❤
"The Pill" is THE PILL!! It was about the availability of birth control pills. Before my time but Mom talked about this song being banned from radio stations.
RIP Loretta
Two of the most beloved country singers ever!
Loretta Lynn is huge. this is great stuff.
Loretta is the greatest country singer she is dolly icon female singer
I don't see any reactors react to Barbara Mandrell. She had a tv show with her sisters when I was a child and I loved her so much. I wish that someone would react to her. My favorite song by her was "If loving you is wrong" and then there is also "I was country when country wasn't cool". So if you want to react to another great female country artist from the past, she would be a good one. She gets overlooked even though she was one of the biggest country music stars in the 70s and early 80s. She had a tragic car accident in 1984 and that is when her career suffered. I love your channel. Thank you for the great reactions.
I have suggested Barbara Mandrell on many reaction channels but no one ever does her.
@@Pauba1946 I know, I don't get it.
loretta is THE queen of country music ,period !!
Loretta Lynn is the Queen of Country Music
Dolly also has one of the best laughs ever. 🥰
Loretta Lynn. One of the original Queens 👑 of Country music R.I.P. ✌️❤️🙏🏿🙏🏿
Lorettie, as her parents called her wrote many of her songs from her life experiences. Married to Doolittle Lynn and a mother multi times over she grew up hard and quick. She was the oldest child. Dolly grew up poor in Tennessee while Loretta grew up in Kentucky in coal town. After making it big in Nashville, she became friends with Patsy Cline and was pregnant with twin girls when Patsy was killed in the plane crash and named one of those twins after Patsy. She is also the older half sister of Crystal Gayle, a country star (Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue).
Miss Loretta died last year, she was the undisputed Queen of Country music.
"Coal Miner's Daughter" was the song she wrote about her youth. There was a movie of the same name, in 1980. It won a lot of awards, including a best actress Oscar, for Sissy Spacek's portrayal of Loretta. BTW, Loretta was married at age 13.
ua-cam.com/video/6hnuKNXAp9E/v-deo.html
Loretta was born very poor as her dad worked in the coal mines and they had little, even to eat. They could only afford shoes once a year just before winter. Dolly has done this many times and is just that type of lady to everyone.
Now, if you really want to see Loretta sing and have an attitude, please check out her performing "Fist City." You will love it.❤️
yes!!
Check out "Fist City" by Loretta. You'll fall in love with her.
Lorretta Lynn and Patsy Cline were very best friends. She wrote from her life experiences!😅
Loretta and Dolly were such good friends, Dolly referred to Loretta as her sister. You should check out Loretta's music; it's all fantastic. :)
RATED X was one of many Loretta Lynn songs that were banned from radio play, but still hit the top of the charts based on sales. It's about how divorced women were seen in the late 60s/early 70s. Loretta never stopped writing and recording, and toured until she was in her late 80s. When she died, she still had 3,000 songs written that she hadn't recorded, and was in the middle of a 5 album deal. Coal Miner's Daughter was the first movie to be made about a female country music artist's life, and was based off her autobiography Coal Miner's Daughter. She had a 60 year career, with many firsts for women, and was the most awarded female country music artist. Her motto was "Don't quit. Keep working. Never retire."...and she didn't. You can get a better understanding of her by watching 60 Minutes Uncut Loretta Lynn. Mike Wallace spends time with Loretta on tour.
The movie Coal Miners Daughter is a must see for you. True story of Loretta Lynn.
I am not taking anything away from Dolly. Lorretta Lynn is LEGEND. 24 number ones not to mention her songs that charted in the top ten. She broke so much ground for other women. Mama's Got The Pill was extremely controversial. She was and still is the Queen of Country Music.
Coal Miner's Daughter is imo the best country song ever written.
There is a very specific region of Appalachia where it is completely possible the rhyme the words hard and tired. These two ladies and one half of my family are from that region. It’s the tri-states area where VA, KY and TN meet.
Loretta Lynn is known as the Queen of country music for good reason. Coal miner's daughter is a song she wrote about her childhood. Most of her songs are written about her life experiences. The movie Coal miner's daughter is one of the best biographical movies you will ever see
You just can't get better than Loretta and Dolly the creativity/talent between the two is unmeasurable. If you asked me to choose one over the other, I simply would not...
You have to react to the movie Coal Miner's Daughter. It's the story of her life and is sooooo very good
Britt, You HAVE to watch 'Coal miner's daughter' the story of Loretta Lynn's life. Her husband was a womanizer but she loved him and fought to keep him.. He WAS protective of her. The movie also shows that she had a great friendship with Patsy Cline and she had a rough time after Patsy's death. Sissy Spacek won an Oscar for her portrayal of Loretta and actually did all the singing of the songs Loretta wrote in the film. (Loretta was brave to sing about things like 'the pill' and hang my 'wings upon your horns' check it out.
You need to watch the movie. I love these women
They made a movie about her life called “Coal miners daughter.” Great movie
My current list of all time great country females, Loretta, Dolly, Tammy Wynette, Reba, and of course, Patsy Cline who blazed the way for all who came after. Loretta and Patsy were best friends before Patsy's tragic death in a plane crash. Yes, they were singing about mama's got the Pill, as in the birth control pill, Loretta wrote the song about women no longer being forced to be pregnant when they didn't want to be and the song was banned on the radio in a lot of places. The best Loretta song of all time as far as I'm concerned for telling it like it is...is Fist City!
Loretta broke more barriers and the leader in the women’s movement of any other country singers. She spoke truly of the drinking and loving on your mind, then of the pill, meaning birth control pills. And many stations would not play any of her songs. She just pasted away at age 90, in her bed at hurricane meals tn on hers and Duds ranch
Loretta Lynn was my first favorite country singer. I listened as a child. My grandfather was a coal miner, so when sang "I was a Coal Miner's Daughter" it hit home. Patsy Cline, Dolly then Barbara Mandrell & Reba McEntire. Ironically, I did training in Cline's hometown, there were signs everywhere couldn't forget.
I would love for her to reaction to fist city by Loretta. Miss Lynn is one greatest country singer of all time. Yea they singing about birth control in the 60. Rest in peace Loretta Lynn the world is a worse place with out you.
Dolly: Oh, please find it in your heart to leave my man alone...
Loretta: You ain't woman enough to take my man, and I am sending you to Fist City!
If you want to hear more Loretta, I would start with the full versions of these songs!
There is a movie about Loretta's life, called "Coal Miners Daughter"❤
One of Loretta's best (they didn't sing) is "Fist City".... so worth checking out.
Loretta's life story was made into a movie called A Coal Miner's Daughter. It stars Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn.
The funniest one Loretta ever did was a duet with Conway Twitty called "you're the reason our kids are ugly". The world is not the same without her. She had so many songs I liked.
Loretta Lynn was the Queen of Country music
Now you need to react to The Queen of Country Music Loretta Lynn doing all of those songs! She wrote and sang about real life, and some was controversial, like The Pill, Rated X (which is about the stigma of being a divorced woman). She had many songs banned from radio but still had #1 songs out of them. The song Coalminer's Daughter is about her life.
Loretta's songs were all written of true life experience, retired coal miner
Got to personally meet Loretta when I was stationed in Germany. She autographed my wife's picture for me. She was such a country sweetheart. My wife's picture was the only thing I had for her to write on. They are both together in heaven now.
The radio stations banned her record "The Pill" because it was inappropriate to speak of such things in mixed company. The birth control pill had just become available. She was also referring about all the love they missed out on by practicing the rhythm method, LOL
If you want to learn more about Loretta, you really need to see the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" -- it's about her life and how she got started in the business. It's a really good movie.
You need to dive into LORETTA LYNN. She is the most awarded female in country music history.
Ahhh!!!! I fell off my chair when you said, "I don't know ow who Loretta Lynn is!"!!!
Loretta seemed to stay pregnant and she wrote a song about The Pill. (birth control pill). Loretta is the Queen of Country. We lost her not too long ago. She did many duets with Conway Twitty and they had a very loving and respectful friendship. You would like her song called "Fist City".
I Love and respect Loretta Lynn so much ... watch her movie 🎬 coal minners daughter about her life
Ohhhhh .. 💙 .. Dolly & Loretta
Legend & Legend , plus wonderful person & wonderful person .. I love it !! 🎼🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼🎼🔥🎼🎼🎼
There are a couple of Loretta Lynn's song that raised some eyebrows. The pill was a shocker back then, some radio stations refused to play it. 🤣
I love the way they rhyme “hard” with “tired”. My dad was from Tennessee and I have an unknown number of cousins from back there! 👵🏼💜☮️
An artist searches for something real. I heard a tune from Loretta a few years before her passing; it returned to "Old Timey" roots, not country, but further back to Old Timey... Hearing that, as I grow older: it was REAL. We grow older. We KNOW death is coming. We confront Death and Love as we age... And here is Loretta singing "Ain't no time to go, darling..." Thank You, Loretta, for putting a timeless feeling into a timeless musical form: ua-cam.com/video/gtmy7Wn31SE/v-deo.html
Loretta Lynn third pregnancy turned out to be twins!❤
Loretta wrote her songs from true life experiences between her and her husband.
You’ll have to watch the movie, called coal Miner’s daughter, the true story of her life, and it was so well done. It was very special to her. She said she had a hard time watching it because it was so realistic.
You Aint Woman Enough to Take MybMan is my favporite Loretta Lynn song, followed by Don't Come Home A Drinking....I loved all of her songs. Back when Country music was not pop rock!!!
Loretta was very down to earth, say it the way it is!❤
Love Loretta ❤️
Hey Britt. I love your adventure into this music. Please check out the movie, "Coal Miner's Daughter "... Loretta Lynn's life story. It was awesome.
Patsy Cline has a movie of her life story out there too so does Johnny Cash.
Plz plz plz react to more of Loretta Lynn ..I think you'll love her even more once you hear more of her songs..she straight up tell ya like it is..lol..I love her and Dolly..because I grew up very similar to both of them..♥️
Loretta Lynn is the original coal miners daughter, she was born and raised in Butcher Holler Van Lear Kentucky, the same county as Chris Stapleton is from, I know this because that's where I'm from !!! Them mountains are in my blood !!
Dolly is from Eastern Tenn. And Loretta is from Eastern Kentucky Both in Coal Country About 150 miles from each other. Also most of Loretta's songs are Autobiographical, Her Late Husband Do' little was a drinker and woman chaser but she stayed with him until he died. Some of Loretta's Best music are her duets with Conway Twitty
You should check out the movie Coal Minors Daughter about the life of LL. While country isn't my preferred genre of music. I have so much respect for the talents of these two ladies.
Britt, I just love your reactions and comments to Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn ( Medley of songs)❤
They made a movie about Loretta Lynn ... titled "Coal Miner's Daughter" with Sissy Spacek playing the part of Loretta... ❤
Always liked Loretta's Fist City. She was my Grandpaw's favorite singer and my grandmaw about always kept her hair the way Loretta's was in the first performance of Coal Miner's Daughter. THE First Lady of Country!
Hello Loretta Lynn was and is one country legend when she started making music she was still a child and at that time women had a hard time getting a foothold in this scene without the help of men until one day she met Patsy Cline and she basically drowned her Taking her under his wing, they became good friends and performed together until they died in the plane crash. I'm not American and I still love country music and also the songs from the 60's, 70's, 80's and for me Patsy, Loretta, Dolly are the ones who showed me how beautiful this music can be, but also Emmylou, Linda, and those too new generation Shania and LeeAnn catch me every time
So nice to see you digging into country music. You might want to look at Gary Allen. He has had several hits. "Songs About Rain", "Best I Ever Had", and "Tough Little Boys". Not a great big star but certainly holds his own. With some Grammy and CMT awards.
The Pill...birth control...it came out about that time and she made a song about it and and how it made her feel.
