      @M D there’s no “failing”, they just keep the bracket in place during install. Years down the road you can add new 3M tape in less than 10 minutes. I would worry more about rust and loosening rivets on the other types. Cheers.

    Your right side front mount screwed in easily ...On my 2017 TRD Sport 4x4, it didn't screw in that easy. it will screw in about 4 threads and stop. I didn't want to break it by applying excessive force. So I sprayed the hole with WD-40 and tried again and ended up with the same results. It seems like the diameter of the hole is a bit small or maybe rusty.
    What I ended up doing was taking the the screw from the left side ground wires and I used the screw as a tap. ( make sure you lube the hole and turn the screw in and out until it screws all the way in. and that should do it .
    Note : This is a tip for those who encounter this problem. hope it helps .

    Just finished adding these hood struts to my 2017. Really easy install except for dropping the washer on the right side, which of course slid down under the washer fluid reservoir...#*@&!. I wish the lower mounting bolts were more substantial. Will keep my eye on these for longevity, but really nice to lift the hood with so little effort now! Thanks!

      So I saw another video with the bolt on struts where he only mounted one strut to hold it up and said it worked just fine.
      now you talk how easy it is to work from the front cuz you don't have that rod in the way how about when you need to work on one side. can you remove one of the struts and will the other still handle the weight of the hood so you can work on the opposite side?

    • @ClassyTacos
      @ClassyTacos  3 роки тому

      @@garydp9760 Thats a freaking great question. I would say yes, during the install I had one strut on and supporting the hood in the open position, with no issues. I will say to be clear with one strut on I would take it easy shutting it and opening it as it will require more effort from you. Once the hood is all the way up/open one strut will hold from what I have seen. Thanks for watching and for a great question.

    I’m all for after market upgrades that allow you to use existing components. That being said, if you are afraid to do any level of fabrication, don’t get into “modding” your Tacoma. I just installed a set of QuickLift Plus hood struts that required drilling and rivets. If you take your time and just follow simple instructions, there’s no reason to be intimidated. The end result was an installation that puts the struts in a way better location (from a leverage perspective) than these, and look as if they are OEM factory installed parts.

    • @ClassyTacos
      @ClassyTacos  2 роки тому +2

      Comfortable is subjective. I have installed both types, with rivets and non riveted. Both have pros and cons.Don't assume it has anything do to with intimidation, we all think differently. These are just way easier of an install and require less tools. There are more factors at play than just being intimidated. Thanks for watching.

    1. Do you notice any play side to side as you’re closing the hood?
    2. If you stand in the side of your hood and look inline to where the side ball mounts are, do yours have a noticeable slant towards the front of the truck? Like too much force is being put onto the ball mount?

    • @ClassyTacos

      No play side to side, mines goes up and comes down. If there is any play I have not noticed. I don’t feel like to much force is being put on the joints. I see no slant. I have not looked in detail, just not something that stands out to me.

      I've noticed that the pressure tape is actually to keep side to side movements to a minimum at the top of the bracket. It's not meant to hold the bracket in. The force from the strut is always pushing against the tape not pulling on it. Very ingenious set up and a most helpful professionally done instruction video.

      Hey buddy quick question, have you noticed bending in the bolts where the dampers attack on the threaded side for the passenger and the driver side ground bolt? It looks like mine are bending away from their original position. Any cause for concern?

      Hello, I have a question. Does it slammed when you close down the hood? I’ve watched a video with the same brand like yours by Robmotive. When you close down the hood around 10 inches before it touches down it wil slam. Is it true?
