- Today, I start work on my open ditch renovation. My neighborhood is what you call an "open ditch" neighborhood where the ditches are open and roll from the street. This is unlike the typical neighborhood with curbs and sidewalks that typically have small yards.
My ditch measures roughly 4,000 sq ft and is riddled with various grass types. Also, this open ditch renovation will begin with trying to eliminate all weeds and at least 3 different grass types: Bahai grass, Centipede, and St. Augustine.
First thing I will do is use Spectracide Weed Stop to try to kill as many weeds as possible and hopefully the additional grass types.

I think that grass is actually carpetgrass. It is hard to tell as it looks pretty similar to centipede, but if it goes to seed the seed head will look a lot different.
Could be, I’ve never seen it go to seed, though.
But wait, you're telling me the cheap stuff actually kills weeds? LOL, dang right it does. Spectracide for the win! The bermuda will bounce back like a champ when you finally get plenty of rain. Crazy that you've got that much St. Aug. Nice video man.
Can’t beat an $8 bottle of Spectracide!! The St Aug is all over my neighborhood in the ditches along with Bahia. It’s raining right now! Yah!! I’m ready for a real mow. 😎
I put an application on my yard, but I didn't use enough. It hit things and missed things. Need to apply it thicker next time.
Watch the temps. It can sting the Bermuda if it’s over 85. We hit 95 today! 🥵
Quinclorac that's in the weedstop and a high phosphorus fertilizer like a starter fertilizer will smoke the centipede... Worked for me this spring.

I am going to have to try it out. Getting some patches over clover starting to pop up on the lawn. Looks like it worked well.

I think that grass growing from a center point is goosegrass, not bunching tall fescue. The sulfentrazone in Weed Stop is what took it out.

I had a lot of luck using MSM Turf to kill off the bahia in my back yard. It took two apps and took a few weeks for it to kick in, but I was pleased with the results. It also only cost $20, which is good as well
Good idea! I saw that today at my local Ewing’s. Bahia is a tough grass.
Lawn Care Life says it's his go to for Bahia. I haven't tried it yet but have some I need to knock out.

Thanks!! The sprayer is OK, it's basically a Chapin that you can get on Amazon. I added a TeeJet knozzle and it sprays like a champ.
Trust me it will get better. When through the same thing after you get some rain.
