- I updated this pre-emergent lawn video. I think everyone with bermuda grass, and other lawns, must use pre emergent several times a year. Preemergent is critical to great Bermudagrass. I use WeedStop and a liquid spray premergent shown here.

Dont know what I would I do if I didn't have youtube. You taught me something and made perfect sense. You're right cant control the weather. I wish I would have just just bought a liquid pre emergent. But im using both granular and liquid now.

I live in Oklahoma and have Bermuda with a clay soil & have never found anybody on UA-cam talk about my needs till today! I am so glad I found you, thanks for all the helpful videos! Sam Cooper here in Oklahoma too and I’ve had a hard time finding Bermuda grass treatment videos too. Our sod was put in during some brutal heat in the summer. Pretty sure it gave the weeds free reign. Hoping to knock them out hard this summer and maybe get pre emergent done next season. Had a hell of a time finding anyone saying what was the right kind to use for Bermuda.

Did not know what pre-emergent was this past spring. Let's just say I will never forget to put PE down ever again. I've had the toughest time trying to fight weeds, crabgrass, and everything else the past couple of seasons.

The lawns in my neighborhood are infested with weeds but I'm fortunate enough to be virtually weed free thanks to my lawn care specialist that uses a great pre-emergent during winter and spring. My neighbors to the left and rear have yards infested with too many types of weeds to count, mostly nutsedge, that are creeping into my lawn. It's nothing I can't keep at bay with hand pulling a few times a week but I was wondering if this product would be a viable solution for killing off the few weeds that are trying to invade my lawn and using as a winter pre-emergent to keep anything else that may enter my lawn from taking hold. I just watched your latest video on Barricade granular but I would like something that has some weed killing properties to kill off what has already germinated.

I wish I could find a channel like yours that addresses Bermuda grass in central Florida. We don’t have winter lol.
Florida is gonna be the same basic principals. Every quarter put down a pre emergent 4x per year instead or 3 times. Add a good balanced fertilizer before it gets super hot. Use a organic fertilizer when it’s hot out (so you don’t burn the lawn with synthetic nitrogen). Bermuda grass is easy, just give it nitrogen, a lot. I use Scott’s turf builder for drought resistance right before summer. I live in Arkansas. We don’t have a whole lot of winter. A couple weeks in the 20’s is about as cold as it gets. My lawn is dormant for about two and a half months, it just gives me a good window to kill weeds without stunting the grass.
I am in Arizona. I do pre emergent in March and September. In between it is 100+ degrees.
I planted hibrid Bermuda and the grass is looking pretty good. My grass is 2 months old and it’s very hot here in south Texas. What weed killer do you recommend? Should I wait for the Fall to apply weed control?
Doc, I watched the calendar video so much great info. Little backstory real quick. My wife and i live in Chapin South Carolina (red clay country) over the last 2 yrs we have laid bermuda tiff tuff and its taken really well. Im little lost on something, Pre emergent when do you put it out? I know in late may you said fertilize after you scalp but on the calendar video i must have missed when you put it out. I really appreciate the work you put in your videos...Thanks again Travis

If im starting whole new lawn process with seed do you think the preemergent would hurt the seeds from germinating and sprouting. I would probably wait 3-4 weeks before sowing seed but just wanted to get your opinion.
No PE if seeding. It will stop seeds from roots growing.
How long should you wait before putting down a weed n feed on newly planted Bermuda? If done to early will it stop the germination process?
How long after applying that granule crabgrass preventer in your video can I put down fertilizer/grass seed? I put the preventer down mid March and live in Georgia
I have applied a pre emergent on my Bermuda grass here in SC in March and in May. In my back yard now I have some weeds growing back strong in July. What should I to get rid of them and prepare my other half of the backyard for new Bermuda grass seeds full of weeds that grew back after applying a weed killer. Please help!!
Doc, I have a thick layer of thatch on my lawn. My former landscapers didn’t use a catch and I noticed waves of thatch throughout my lawn from the rain. It’s March 7th, and, I would like to know, if it’s to early to dethatch my lawn and apply my granular pre emergent?

I just purchased a home in late Jan with Bermuda grass. Yard is full of weeds and crabgrass. I refuse to have a company come out and give then almost $500 for 8 treatments for the year just to spray for weeds and not even cut my grass. It is now march. What is the first thing I should do to get my grass to grow healthy for the summer.

Doc have you used weed stop on bentgrass? Will it kill weeds and keep bentgrass?
I had beautiful St. Augustine grass then after Hurricane Harvey something took over my grass and killed it. I think it looks like your grass but I don't know for sure. I'm so sad cause I like St. Augustine but I have no idea where this came from. I thought I had a yard full of weeds but now I'm not so sure and Scott's Bonus S does not kill it.

Doc, will the pre-emergent stop my bermuda from filling in over the summer in a lawn currently 40% weeds (crabgrass)? I've read it will hurt rooting and shooting when a residual is present. Advice?
The only "activity" it really may hinder is root growth really and that is only a real concern on new sod. Also... we mainly put it down while the grass is dormant in the spring. Timing is critical and lots of crabgrass is worse than a little pre-emerge.
Greetings. I have a newly sodded back yard with St Augustine that has dead spots. Will Bermuda seed be a good seed to add?
Bermuda for full sun only, st Augustine is good for sun or shade as long u water it alot. Till up the dead spot, transplant some good st Augustine into it
what is NPK spec for pre-emergent ? i get 0-0-7 from Home depot. Is that good ? should i look at something else ?
I use 0-0-7 as well. No problem since the ‘7’ helps the root system. Can use the liquid if you like. I’m thinking about switching over to liquid anyway.
WeedStop isn't available in Texas anymore. Very strange.

The calendar video is not clear about these three months.
Mow the lawn to pickup any weed seed heads and to scrape the top only if you’re not going to be spraying any.
But if not spraying, just keep any weed height to a min to reduce the amount of sun they seek.
What mixing ratio do you use with the dimension? I’ve got a 5 gallon Smith backpack sprayer. Not sure what ratio to start with…

@@omardelgado2978 I have been told no. It can prevent the new seedlings from starting. I have just seeded my lawn and was told to put up with the weeds the first year so not to stunt or kill off the new grass shoots. My wife caught me pulling individual weeds today and said Oh My. so just put up with the weeds and wait till next season and go strong.
