Fab Morvan on Milli Vanilli Being Forced to Lip Sync After Signing Their Deal

Поділитися
Вставка
  • Опубліковано 9 кві 2017
  • Fab Morvan, one-half of Milli Vanilli, opened up about being trapped in one of the biggest music scandals of all time. Morvan opened up about being a struggling artist alongside Rob Pilatus before they signed to German producer Frank Farian, who had already had massive success with Boney M.
    Throughout the conversation, Fab spoke about forming a friendship with Rob in Germany and meeting Frank while playing soccer. Fab even went into detail about first hearing "Girl You Know It's True" and Frank telling Rob that they're going to lip synch the track, which you can hear more about in the above clip.

      They got so lucky!!!
      They couldn't sing!
      They could barely speak English 😂
      But their ego and vanity couldn't handle it being taken away from them.
      They got lucky!! Really lucky.

      @JessieWinterspring 5 років тому +7

      @Carolinen100 Yep. It's a mystery that not even a book is out about them. I have no idea how powerful Farian is, but those around him are VERY influential people that can't afford to be shame for being involve and condoning the whole lip-synching business. Farian himself sounds pretty scary and powerful (despicable too) in the full-interview: ua-cam.com/video/lqmO9VE0PuY/v-deo.html

      They were ahead of their time. Very few people get pissed when their favorite artist lip sync. I.e. Mariah Carey and many others. The difference is at least the fans have heard the other artist actual singing and proven themselves as great vocalist. They came on the scene under false pretenses and believed not to be even mediocre singers. Which I don’t know of their vocal abilities. I’m just sorry this all happened.

      He had vitiligo, your skin becomes white in random patches. He first used makeup to correct and average his skin tone, and then became addicted to managing his appearance. It is actually quite sad. I don’t think it was really him making decisions like that, when people have that big of an addiction or problem, it’s the drugs or dark forces around them driving them to act strangely.

      I agree. Enough time has passed, I think. Fans who bought the album I am sure have gotten over being played, especially now that a fuller picture of what happened is coming out.
      However, I am sure some in the music industry still look at this as a sore spot & probably would do their best to make sure it never gets off the drawing board. As long as Frank is alive, I am sure he would not want to be portrayed as a bad guy in this whole scenario & he might prevent it from being made, as well. I will never understand his reasoning for exposing the duo, however he tries to explain it (his explanation in the VH1 Behind The Music episode made absolutely no sense).

It made the idea of whether or not Rob & Fab actually sang matter less. The "U.S./Remix" album's original songs are what were recorded for the album that was released in America, so that the group's music here would fit more to the traditional conventions of American pop music.
