@@rashawnda-professor2999 I have only seen the film so far. But it seemed a bit strange how this assistant, Todd, came in their life without experience and then set them up for the grammy contest when no one else did before. I listened to Wondery Blame it on the fame. What ever happened, many people behaved without any empathy or knowledge about their situation and previous life.
The truth shows here. Rob and Fab had the look, but not the sound. Visually, superstars. Unpolished in studio and press conference settings. Frank Farian put everything together perfectly, underhanded or not. I love Milli Vanilli.
I was 2 years old when "Milli Vanilli" was at its peak, I knew something about the story, but I have recently seen the documentary, some videos, read articles, and seen this. I have never seen any living (nor deceased) celebrity who has had the courage like those two at this conference to stand in front of all these people, the media, without any management, PR experts, or even lawyers, and answer the questions, the accusations, the palpable contempt, for something that wasn't a murder or robbery. They were almost kids, and even so, they admitted their wrongdoing (which was probably any of us would have done in their shoes), credited real voices, and showed they had an ambition and will to work on themselves, to become real artists, and to stand behind the songs. To know that poor Rob died due to that pressure and to see them on the video, with talent that could have been polished to perfection... so sad, so tragic, and I am glad that today, at least Fabrice is here to be apologized to...
I love how Rob was he was very charismatic and he deserved so much praise they both do and I’m glad fab still carries the legacy of Rob cuz his memory will live on forever rip Rob
Rob did a really good job trying to explain their situation and how it came about. English was not his first language but he did so well to try get people to understand that they were taken advantage of. where was that Ginger ninja guy Farian? these poor guys left to fight off the vultures on their own. They were very truthful and apologetic here and they were still picked apart.
I remember watching this, I was super mad how they were treated so unfairly. For singing on the spot after the scrutiny acapella? They did pretty darn good.
That definitely could have helped keep their music selling. But back then, if you didn’t have a record label effectively bankrolling your music, you really had nothing.
It was a great song and these two guys deserved that Grammy. They were put under unreasonable pressure from the media and did what they thought was the right thing by returning it. Sadly Rob never recovered from the fallout. RIP
Facts. Shortly before Rob died, Frank had paid for Rob's bail and wanted to do another album with Rob and Fab. Fab refused and told Frank Hell No. Rob was eager to get back to recording but he died before he was due to return to rehab and Rob's sister was pissed at Frank for showing up to his funeral for to get good press. Fab revealed that he couldn't attend the funeral due to visa issues.
I loved these guys. They were young and tenacious and wanted fame and to have a successful better life. They were thrown under the bus by Farion (record producer) after he made millions from them. No due diligence, no support for them afterwards. And the sad thing was..they both were lovely singers in their own right. RIP Rob. 💜
So sad for these guys esp as Rob took his life. I seen an interview of Fab and he was so wise, calm and spiritual. You can see his light. So many artists have lip synced and had poor voices needing a lot of auto tune. These guys at least were the show. They performed and I remember enjoying their light. Corrupt agents took advantage of their naivety. The after math for two was unfair. 🙏💕
When I first heard about this when I was younger, I found the whole thing funny. Watching this video now and understanding the situation properly, I actually feel so sad for Rob & Fab. 💔

Lip-synching is more common than it is realized. Zelma Davis was shown singing in the video for C&C Music Factory’s ‘Gonna Make You Sweat,’ but it was actually Martha Wash singing.
This video is a time capsule. Shows that journalists were really tough back and there were no softball questions. Journalists today have no balls! They were really grilling these guys with absolutely no mercy. Too bad this practice was is not also carried forward during actual important events that would follow, like 9/11

To be fair, I would be furious if I were the original singer. Someone else uses my voice to get laid, get loads of money, get awards, go on TV, go on tour!? Rob was so delusional, he started to think the real man's voice WAS his own. That really pissed off the real guy.
It's criminal what Frank did to these guys. Their voices were good enough, not great, but good enough considering the music in most songs often hides a lot of imperfections in even today's songs. The fans loved the music, but they loved Rob and Fab (the image) more, the songs would have still been big hits. Lip synching Boney M was understandable, but there was no excuse for what was done to Fab and Rob. Frank could have and should have handled the whole thing with respect for these guys and the real singers, to which he most certainly did NOT! Today this wouldn't be such a big deal, we have bands that do not have a real image to the singing.. eg: Gorillaz.
VULTURES! Listen how mad these "reporters" are for 2 poor kids who made it and were lied to. Everyone of those vultures posing these quesions would've done the same thing. Love Milli Vanilli & RIP Rob!
Some of these reporters maybe could see what happened, but were thinking about their own careers and wanted to profit off of somebody else’s downfall. It was all about what sold.

@@rashawnda-professor2999 Wasn´t it their driver and later assistant, Todd? That they began to trust ...
Wondery blame it on the fame, podd.
@@MariaDanielsson-cy7ql Turns out that the person who managed them never managed anybody. I saw their documentary and it was deep.
Rob speak well
Rest in Peace
There is one thing I don't understand. How can Rob sound exactly like his voice double on the record.
Hat er sich so angehört??
They acted like they committed murder or something, they both genuine people that got exploited and took all the blame ,they deserved better Rip Rob
Just finished the new Milli Vanilli movie. Was good
Where can I watch it?
You should get the soundtrack too, or if you would rather, the 35th Anniversary Greatest Hits album.
The movie was so emotional
@@sierrac4157Anywhere that sells video-on-demand.
So heartbreaking!
I am obsessed with these 2 so sad
rob gone away too soon 😢
Rob did a really good job trying to explain their situation and how it came about. English was not his first language but he did so well to try get people to understand that they were taken advantage of. where was that Ginger ninja guy Farian? these poor guys left to fight off the vultures on their own. They were very truthful and apologetic here and they were still picked apart.
should have just let them sing. they both sing good enough. would have been a hit either way
I’m not sure it would have been.
I remember watching this, I was super mad how they were treated so unfairly. For singing on the spot after the scrutiny acapella? They did pretty darn good.
Wow they seemed very honest just were put in a very bad situation and they actually can sing!
robs so gorgeous rip ❤
Thank you for taking me back.
Poor Rob and Fab.
Rob never recovered mentally from this til he passed fab was just calm
He also was battling alcoholism and drug addiction.
Wow! Too bad they didn't have streaming outlets back then. It's pretty sad they didn't get to truly tell their part of the story.
RIP
It was won ultimately fraudulently because the success of Milli Vanilli simply could not have existed without Rob & Fab masquerading as the singers.
Yes rob and fab deserve big applause for everything that they went threw and over came it’s sad that rob gone
The vocal coach Fab and Rob hired to help them happens to be Seth Riggs who worked with Michael Jackson, Natalie Cole and Whoppi Goldberg.
Maravilloso, maravilloso, nada como escuchar y ver su testimonio. Gracias por subir este tesoro en youtube. Rob&Fab por siempre en nuestros corazones.
Franck Farian has been a total bastard with them. Rob died because of that.
Dios mio que hombre más precioso fue Rob pilatus tenía todo hermoso y talento 😢😢
These journalists were unbelievable....
The singing teacher tried to take up for them God bless him ! ❤
Lamento todo lo que han tenido que soportar, la humillación y el sufrimiento...siempre serán Milli vanilli ❤
They deserve their Grammy back and the whole world should not have condemned them they were innocent
I can never unhear that “TRUE” ever again!!! R.I.P Rob… fab did great though
Loved them. Saw them in concert. Great times
Poor guys,I love him forever ❤❤❤❤
Those people ARE FICIOUS!!! Lean Rob and Fab Alone!!!!
Lip-synching is more common than it is realized. Zelma Davis was shown singing in the video for C&C Music Factory’s ‘Gonna Make You Sweat,’ but it was actually Martha Wash singing.
Zelma Davis sings on all the other songs in that album, and she did sing "sweat" live on tour and live performances...
This video is a time capsule. Shows that journalists were really tough back and there were no softball questions. Journalists today have no balls! They were really grilling these guys with absolutely no mercy. Too bad this practice was is not also carried forward during actual important events that would follow, like 9/11
That’s a fantastic video, i was 12 when they were exposed, couldn’t really understand what was going on. Watching this after all these years is amazing
Who’s that British reporter? He was venomous and vile. Rob and Fab were victims of this scam too and it’s a shame they did not have the means to sue them for everything. Rest in peace ❤
He was making money knowing this and it didn't bother him.
Only when they wanted to start singing on their own did he say it was a fraud.
He made millions off this and one of these people took his own life. For him, only money is important
It's so sad. But this story impacts so much! I'm sorry for Rob. They have been good ENTERTAINERS.
Saw the movie !!!!! It was really amazing!!!!…. My goodness these men are so handsome 😭
It makes me irritated how they used these guys and the singers of the music
@@Cedrclovesutube All four of them were played by Frank Farian
I admire your courage.
Rob Pilatus se defendió muy bien
They took them apart like sharks!
To be fair, I would be furious if I were the original singer.
Someone else uses my voice to get laid, get loads of money, get awards, go on TV, go on tour!?
Rob was so delusional, he started to think the real man's voice WAS his own. That really pissed off the real guy.
@agathajadwiszczok3503 I wonder if he had him un alived
It’s disgusting how bad they were treated by the media. Why didn’t their lawyer step in and say something. Try to protect them.
I’m sure he did what he could.
Those reports are like selfish children screaming over each other. Ruthless, they should feel ashamed of themselves!
The mic wind screen is proof they could sing! It was moving
Rob took the hardest hit on this, RIP Rob.
Those reporters really feel morally superior, no clue what it means to struggle and be poor.
Rob und Fab = Milli Vanilli forever ❤
Still love Milli Vanilli
Who cares if they sang, they were gorgeous.
That’s not the point in music
Lol how do you infer they would have done the same thing? You’re deluled
