    My 82, I've kept it in the garage all these years, has only 49k miles, and still, every time I go to fix something, the part next to it breaks. But, it is just fun fixing and updating her. Great video. Will look you up and sub. I hope you are still making videos.

    Adding a resistor helps also, 6 ohm / 50 watt I think is correct for most cars to simulate a bulbs resistance and load the flasher correctly.

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  3 роки тому +1

      Ya when dealing with older vehicles most won't require it you could just do the Flashers or just the resistors but the Flashers are definitely an easier upgrade but as you get into newer vehicles where they may not use load Flashers the resistors are definitely the easier route to go all depending on the vehicle.

    I added 2 LED flashers in my 86. Installed LED front signals from SuperBrightLEDs. Now when I install the led rear turn signals, there is no flashing. When I place incandescent back in, it flashes fine. 🤷‍♂️

      If you have already done both Flashers then you may want to start looking at the wiring. I.e. grounds

Now the blinkers and reverse doesnt work as should when it worked just fine before. Could the Flashers help with the gauge light as well???? 1984 Trans Am

    I want to run LED up front and incandescent in the rear. What flasher would I need for that?

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  3 роки тому

      This one would work. Just when you go to order them make sure it says it works with both incandescent and led bulbs

    • @JimmyMakingitwork
      @JimmyMakingitwork 3 роки тому +1

      The blinkers might blink a little faster, but having incandescent on the same circuit should keep them working. It won’t harm anything to try it and see how it works.
      There are also resistors you can add to LED’s to load the flasher and keep it working normally if needed instead of an LED flasher.

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  3 роки тому +1

      @@JimmyMakingitwork very true great point. Incandescent bulbs have more of a strobe affect due to the bulb cooling down then heating up where the LED bulb is instant on and off. 👍👍👍

    OK buddy, I'm not changing over to LED... it's just a lot to do for me, and I just want to find where the flasher module is located so I can change the flasher and put in a new one. Mine is very old and blinking very slowly now. My car is a sports coup, so I can't always follow the Z models to fix things. Does my car need 2 flashers replaced too? I was only given one when I went in for the parts. No computer in my car!LOL lucky me, the 85 coup did not have one. Cheers and thank you as always!

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  2 роки тому +1

      They have 3 Flashers but one is tucked up further in the dash and is for the 4 way Flashers so I'm sure that one is fine. You should find it under the dash between the steering column and the center console area. Hope this helps

    • @TonyTheTechnician

      Ya a majority of the time they look the exact same depends on if they have been swapped before. I don't think you need to worry about the top one. I would just start with the main flasher. Keep in mind yours might be like a black plastic or a silver metal one right now

    My car is a pain to do! I have to get the LCM out because the flasher is in the LCM, de-pin 2 wires in the flasher, hook everything up, install and reinstall. Ugh! Yep, I have not done it yet. :-p _The main thing is, finding LEDs that do not overheat, because even with the relay if they overheat in about 5 minutes, less in hot weather, they will hyperflash, anyway._ That is no good for the hazard lights. If actually needed, the time used is (probably) always over 5 minutes.

I got pulled over by a dsp trooper who must have had 5 min on the job because hed never heard of hand signals or so he said. I just bought my very first car from when i was 16 back from the guy i sold it to before i left for the military. It popped up on FB market because apparently his kid didn't want it. And side note, id have done unspeakable evils for a car like that to he given to me, fucking hell. Anyway looks like the dude i sold it to fancied himself an electrician and created an automotive wiring modern art sculpture that ove been trying unsuccessfully to unfuck all summer. So i just ordered a 22 circuit universal wiring kit. And just for the sake of my sanity, how the hell can people invest so much time and care into the paint work or their car, keeping the interior immaculately clean etc... but when they tryi wiring its "twist it, tape it, and never fucking look at it again! I know its only 12 volts but it can absolutely burn your baby to the ground. On rant over
