This music video was insanely popular because it was the first and really only official view of the band without their masks, even though they didn't show their entire faces. You have to understand that when Slipknot was becoming popular the internet was just beginning. UA-cam didn't even exist yet when their first music videos were recorded. So unlike today, you couldn't just do a quick google search and get pictures of the band members without their masks on. No one knew what these guys actually looked like, so this video was a huge deal. I would highly recommend pulling up the lyrics to follow along. There's no shame in not being able to understand screamed metal lyrics on the first listen. That's true for any music genera you're not used to by the way. I think that any fan who watches you react to something beloved to them would take it as a sign of respect if you pulled up the lyric so you could follow what was being said. The lyrics are a big part of what made Slipknot as popular as they became. Their lyrics are very heavy on metaphor and allusion, and rarely straight forward leaving the interpretation up to debate, but still targeted just enough to hit their audience hard. As far as your comment on the 'zero effort' look for rockstars, there is definitely some truth to that especially when touring. However I would also point out that you would probably be amazed at just how much time and effort is put into getting the perfect 'zero effort' look for video's or other publicity showings. If you've ever watched the show "How I Met Your Mother" There's a good scene in one of the episodes where one of the characters spends several hours in the mirror trying to get his hair to look like he just rolled out of bed in the perfect way and it's a great metaphor for just how hard it is to get that perfect 'no effort' look. I'm glad you continued with Slipknot reactions. Their sound is almost always hard, but the variations in their sound from songs like Physchosocial where you started through Before I Forget, and up to songs like Devil in I is actually pretty huge. I still say that "Devil in I" has some some of the best vocal's of any of their songs and really starts to show off Corey's vocal range and talent. I would love to see you react to something by Stone Sour, such as Bother or Through Glass and get your reaction on Corey's voice from a slightly different perspective. Also I have to continue to plug "Corey Taylor - Snuff (Life In London)" as something to react to.
Great reaction… I’m 24 and i love old rock/metal but one of my favorite bands from my generation is a 3 sister hard rock band called “The Warning” from Mexico, their young but been around for over a decade and has been blowing up in recent years… they went viral in 2014 covering Metallica’s Enter Sandman… you should definitely check those ladies out… you can start with Choke, Evolve, or Automatic Sun for a reaction… you’ll love them for sure
Yeah you're right about the aesthetic side of Rock/Metal to an extent, although there are then bands like Slipknot who you are seemingly a little confused with as their wearing of masks and matching boiler suits is a deliberate aesthetic choice, as well as other bands like Ghost who put alot of effort into their costumes. On the whole, you're absolutely right though, it's a lot less about looking a particular way and you can be somewhat comfortable in jeans, a tshirt and sneakers on stage because it's the music that's more important - however - don't underestimate the deliberate choices some make, it's more calculated than you realise
The whole thing with there looks, there whole thing was that they aren’t worried too much about there looks, they focus more on the music. Corey Taylor once said they wear the masks because they don’t want people to focus on their faces, they want them to focus on the music they put out.
The bridge in this song is one of my all time favorites. Pearl Jam / Ed Vedder write the best bridges of all time. This one is fantastic. I love Slipknot, Stone Sour, Mick Thompson, Jim Root, Joey and Paul and Corey Taylor. Phenomenal musicians.
I LOVE SLIPKNOT, I assumed that this studio sound would be very difficult to perform live, IT IS NOT, THEY ARE EXCELLENT LIVE, I was amazed, Corey is a great live singer and the other guys are GREAT MUSICIANS
On top of that, each band member designs their own mask. They, as a band, put a lot of time into their look & image. It might seem minimal as you go through their discography. You will see how much they invest into that. Now that you have seen a couple of videos, you should do a little research & learn about the band. I appreciate your reactions & will be looking forward to your next one.
As soon as you said minimal effort i had to pause the video and comment but i saw all the comments commenting on that lol. I will still put my 2 cents in… it takes far less effort to be a major pop/r&b singer, or rapper than it does to make it in a major rock/metal band. Pop,r&b, and rappers have people who write all their music, pick out their clothes, do their makeup and most importantly have auto tune and computers to make them vocally not sounds terrible. In Rock/metal you have to master their instruments (when was the last time you saw someone in any of those other genres playing an instrument), insane voice control, write their own music, break through on pure talent and not their looks like the others. Only thing that could be said is minimal effort is how the dress when not performing. now that thats out of the way.. you’re gorgeous 🔥😮💨😍😍😍😍
My little brother was a big slipknot fan so I took him to see them on at ozz fest 2004 before I left for Japan. He got hit right in the eye by the drummers drum stick when we were in the mosh pit and it was his favorite part of the show. Saw Black Sabbath OG line up, Judas Priest OG line up, and Slayer all on that show.

This would have to be my favorite song from SlipKnot since I heard it for the first time also forgot to mention they were celebrating their anniversary
Great reaction, Mia. I will suggest you two other metal bands(and their songs) that I think you should react to: "Hallowed Be Thy Name" by Iron Maiden at the beast over hammersmith performance 1982 and "Critical Acclaim" by Avenged Sevenfold live in the LBC.
You guys is Mia ready for Female front metal band or heavy metal band? and What band do you guys recommended for Mia to react to ? JINJER or maybe HELLSTORM maybe ???
This video is the first time they ever appeared without a mask. Back in the 90s and early 2000s they were anonymous and no one knew what the looked like besides some bad quality leaked photos.
If you want to see the lead singer sing live, without his mask, with minimal screaming check out Corey Taylor-Snuff Live (Acoustic) youll know which one it is lol
14 years ago is when the video was posted on UA-cam this song comes from their album volume three subliminal verses which came out sometime back in 2004
To say it must be easy to wake up and not care how you look is quite short sighted. The point is they are making music, not entering into a beauty contest. It takes bands years to break through and become respected. Its harder for them to make it because there isnt a giant label behind them pushing them at the start because of how they look.

Another great Slipknot reaction. This was a big album for them commercially, and a lot more accessible to your more casual audiences. Their song "Left Behind" is one to check out, and still going to cast in the recommendations of the Deftones song "Change (In The House of Flies)" is a must on reactions of songs i can see you digging and Taproots somg "Poem". My recommendations are lighter and trying to ease you into metal rather than throwing you off the deep end, going extreme from the get go. Im loving the reactions, though! Amazing!

When you say they can just wake up and not worry about what they look at, don't forget they have put years into their art. They struggled alot, lost members. It isn't an easy path. The point of their masks is that it is about the music and not the individuals in the band.

The classic 9 Slipknot members in action in 2004 (20 years ago) ... Sadly, Paul Gray (bass) and Joey Jordison (drums) are no longer w/ us (R.I.P) and the band has parted ways w/ Chris Fehn (percussion) and Craig '133' Jones (keyboard/ samples) Slipknot also has some intense songs, different from the full-on metal... like - 'Vermillion' ... 'Wait and bleed' ... 'Purity' ... 'Killpop'... 🔥🔥 Corey Taylor (vocals) formed another band called Stone Sour, consisting of 5 unmasked members... They had a great run from 2002 to 2020 until Taylor announced their hiatus (Only Corey Taylor and guitarist Josh Rand were original members by their last album in 2017) ... Stone Sour had a different approach than Slipknot... more streamlined musically. U can check out Stone Sour - their songs: "30-30/150" ... 'Through glass' ... 'Get inside' ... 'Made of scars' ... "Say you'll haunt me"... 'Absolute zero'... 🤘🤘

@@MiaintheMoment I know you weren't talking about the music thats not what I said. You just copy and paste this same thing over and over in every response.
UA-cam subtitles have a hard time with metal vocals because of the distortion on the voice, I suggets Genius or AZlyrics as websites to look up the lyrics, and it will become easier to follow along with what they are saying, or you can check the lyrics after you have watched the video to dive into the context for your ending discussion bit.
Some guys know, intuitively, that they will need to be a 'Rock Star' to even get in the line that leads to a brilliant, and beautiful, woman like you. So they persevere to become Rock Stars, these guys are proof. Corey Taylor as a Janitorial Engineer, not so much.
We shall see if her tolerance for energized music swallows her or she pushes it away entirely. We can already see that she handles slower, softer music with the Nirvana video.

2:10 You completely missed the point! During a vast majority of the time when Rock/Metal were the dominant genres, it just got into the point where ridiculousness was taking over the music itself (specially during the 70's, late 80's and early-mid 2000's). Being a "rock-star" is not easy in any way... it runs much deeper than just appearence. This is Slipknot playing and saying that people need to put down their own masks (at least for a moment) and just enjoy and absorve the pure joy of being alive for the sake of experience life itself with and around others!

Can you react to some 1970's funk? Some songs are Fire On The Bayou by The Meters, The Cisco Kid by War, Right Place Wrong Time by Dr. John, Love Rollercoaster by Ohio Players.
A lot of people are missing your point about effort. Some rock artists dress up their appearance, and some don't. It depends on what their image is. If you want some easier listening Slipknot, you should try "Left Behind" and "Killpop". Also, try Stone Sour, it has the same lead singer. I recommend Stone Sour "Song #3" acoustic version.

Great reaction… I’m 24 and i love old rock/metal but one of my favorite bands from my generation is a 3 sister hard rock band called “The Warning” from Mexico, their young but been around for over a decade and has been blowing up in recent years… they went viral in 2014 covering Metallica’s Enter Sandman… you should definitely check those ladies out… you can start with Choke, Evolve, or Automatic Sun for a reaction… you’ll love them for sure
thanks so much for you comment
STONE SOUR is Corey Taylor's other band, THEY have alot of great music too, Corey sings more than he screams/ growls.
what really he has more than one band impressive
Corey Taylor once said they wear the masks because they don’t want people to focus on their faces, they want them to focus on the music they put out.
can totally see that and makes sense thanks!
One of the cool things is that for each album they wear new masks, if you want to check out a slower song from them react to Snuff.
omg wow really thats crazy lots of effort to get all new masks
The bridge in this song is one of my all time favorites. Pearl Jam / Ed Vedder write the best bridges of all time. This one is fantastic. I love Slipknot, Stone Sour, Mick Thompson, Jim Root, Joey and Paul and Corey Taylor. Phenomenal musicians.
I LOVE SLIPKNOT, I assumed that this studio sound would be very difficult to perform live, IT IS NOT, THEY ARE EXCELLENT LIVE, I was amazed, Corey is a great live singer and the other guys are GREAT MUSICIANS
love the comment thanks
You gonna go through a journey learning the masks as they changed a lot through the years lol each album is a different era
omg wow i need to look it up
On top of that, each band member designs their own mask.
Corey's voice is top tier. From his harsh brutal vocals to his melodic and clean vocals. He always brings it 10/10
totally agree
My little brother was a big slipknot fan so I took him to see them on at ozz fest 2004 before I left for Japan. He got hit right in the eye by the drummers drum stick when we were in the mosh pit and it was his favorite part of the show. Saw Black Sabbath OG line up, Judas Priest OG line up, and Slayer all on that show.
Imagine touring and bringing that energy.....rock is hard af.
i was not talking about the music, as i said i was saying that it seems like because in rock you can be grunge and look messy that you dont have to put in a lot of efforts into your looks and "looking" good. in the traditional sense that the music industry demands of like pop singers/mainstream music the shallow "beauty" type thing. how many amazing artist have there probably been in say mainstream that didnt make it because they didnt "look the part" which is a shame. where as(my opinion) that isnt as prevalent in rock. where if you are amazingly talented with an instrument, vocals and or writing music than that will win the day. again was only talking about basic looks NOT that its easy to create rock music.
This would have to be my favorite song from SlipKnot since I heard it for the first time also forgot to mention they were celebrating their anniversary
Wait until you get to Spit it Out at Download in the UK. It is a live performance with a fun crowd.
will check it out thanks!!
Great reaction, Mia. I will suggest you two other metal bands(and their songs) that I think you should react to: "Hallowed Be Thy Name" by Iron Maiden at the beast over hammersmith performance 1982 and "Critical Acclaim" by Avenged Sevenfold live in the LBC.
thanks babe and love the suggestions
You guys is Mia ready for Female front metal band or heavy metal band? and What band do you guys recommended for Mia to react to ? JINJER or maybe HELLSTORM maybe ???
ok ok lets go heavy
You should listen to a band called Tool. I'd start with the song "The Pot"
ok i will put that on the list to do
she’s not ready for that rabbit hole
@@Nolimitcam._"who are you to wave your finger…."
This video is the first time they ever appeared without a mask. Back in the 90s and early 2000s they were anonymous and no one knew what the looked like besides some bad quality leaked photos.
The disasterpieces DVD shows Sids face clear as day
If you want to see the lead singer sing live, without his mask, with minimal screaming check out Corey Taylor-Snuff Live (Acoustic) youll know which one it is lol
É a primeira vez que eu vejo alguém ouvir uma música dessas sem nem balançar a cabeça minimamente, interessantíssimo
14 years ago is when the video was posted on UA-cam this song comes from their album volume three subliminal verses which came out sometime back in 2004
thanks so much for the info
To say it must be easy to wake up and not care how you look is quite short sighted. The point is they are making music, not entering into a beauty contest. It takes bands years to break through and become respected. Its harder for them to make it because there isnt a giant label behind them pushing them at the start because of how they look.
i was not talking about the music, as i said i was saying that it seems like because in rock you can be grunge and look messy that you dont have to put in a lot of efforts into your looks and "looking" good. in the traditional sense that the music industry demands of like pop singers/mainstream music the shallow "beauty" type thing. how many amazing artist have there probably been in say mainstream that didnt make it because they didnt "look the part" which is a shame. where as(my opinion) that isnt as prevalent in rock. where if you are amazingly talented with an instrument, vocals and or writing music than that will win the day. again was only talking about basic looks NOT that its easy to create rock music.
Yeah, it's a great Slipknot song, thanks for reaction❤And i hope you react to one of my favorites Slipknot song - The Nameless
you are welcome thanks for the suggestion
Another great Slipknot reaction. This was a big album for them commercially, and a lot more accessible to your more casual audiences. Their song "Left Behind" is one to check out, and still going to cast in the recommendations of the Deftones song "Change (In The House of Flies)" is a must on reactions of songs i can see you digging and Taproots somg "Poem". My recommendations are lighter and trying to ease you into metal rather than throwing you off the deep end, going extreme from the get go. Im loving the reactions, though! Amazing!
ok thanks so much will look it up
@@MiaintheMoment really gotta give you props for plugging away at so much content so quickly. Big props for that grind! Your channel is definitely going places with that drive, and it's showing quickly already.
There will never, ever be another Slip!
That's because when you're in a band the Effort comes in the forn of making your own music and not having 20 song writers and producers make your album for you lol... more slipknot please!
so so true, im glad im doing this so i can absorb these different perspectives thanks
When you say they can just wake up and not worry about what they look at, don't forget they have put years into their art. They struggled alot, lost members. It isn't an easy path. The point of their masks is that it is about the music and not the individuals in the band.
i was not talking about the music, as i said i was saying that it seems like because in rock you can be grunge and look messy that you dont have to put in a lot of efforts into your looks and "looking" good. in the traditional sense that the music industry demands of like pop singers/mainstream music the shallow "beauty" type thing. how many amazing artist have there probably been in say mainstream that didnt make it because they didnt "look the part" which is a shame. where as(my opinion) that isnt as prevalent in rock. where if you are amazingly talented with an instrument, vocals and or writing music than that will win the day. again was only talking about basic looks NOT that its easy to create rock music.
@@MiaintheMomentI gotcha. Loving your content. Thank you for the insight ;)
Slipknot- Duality is pretty good as well.
The classic 9 Slipknot members in action in 2004 (20 years ago) ... Sadly, Paul Gray (bass) and Joey Jordison (drums) are no longer w/ us (R.I.P) and the band has parted ways w/ Chris Fehn (percussion) and Craig '133' Jones (keyboard/ samples)
Slipknot also has some intense songs, different from the full-on metal... like - 'Vermillion' ... 'Wait and bleed' ... 'Purity' ... 'Killpop'... 🔥🔥
Corey Taylor (vocals) formed another band called Stone Sour, consisting of 5 unmasked members... They had a great run from 2002 to 2020 until Taylor announced their hiatus (Only Corey Taylor and guitarist Josh Rand were original members by their last album in 2017) ... Stone Sour had a different approach than Slipknot... more streamlined musically. U can check out Stone Sour - their songs:
"30-30/150" ... 'Through glass' ... 'Get inside' ... 'Made of scars' ... "Say you'll haunt me"... 'Absolute zero'... 🤘🤘
thanks for the info
Ya unlike the "music" you listen to its not about the image or how you look, its about the music. Which is much harder than looking good.

@@MiaintheMoment I know you weren't talking about the music thats not what I said. You just copy and paste this same thing over and over in every response.
UA-cam subtitles have a hard time with metal vocals because of the distortion on the voice, I suggets Genius or AZlyrics as websites to look up the lyrics, and it will become easier to follow along with what they are saying, or you can check the lyrics after you have watched the video to dive into the context for your ending discussion bit.
thanks for this im going to look up lyrics next time
A good song to react to is Pisces by the female fronted band Jinjer. This song has a little bit of a surprise.
will do thanks
I definitely hope this journey treats you well great reactions btw ☺️
thanks you so much
This chick said minimal effort 😂
Some guys know, intuitively, that they will need to be a 'Rock Star' to even get in the line that leads to a brilliant, and beautiful, woman like you. So they persevere to become Rock Stars, these guys are proof. Corey Taylor as a Janitorial Engineer, not so much.
We shall see if her tolerance for energized music swallows her or she pushes it away entirely. We can already see that she handles slower, softer music with the Nirvana video.
im trying to absorb it alllll
@MiaintheMoment Hell yes by this time next year you will be going to your first couple metal concerts and absolutely DESTROYING the gym with the power Metal will guide ya!! Feed us fatass fiends MORE🤘🤘🤘
Circles by slipknot
Has another vibe 😮

Listen to Circle by Slipknot, such a calm departure from what they normally do, and it’s off the same album this song came off of, Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses
ok will do
@@MiaintheMoment you will not be disappointed I promise
I'd recommend either listening to either Snuff or Vermillion
You're gonna end up being a Slipknot fan 😅you might like to try "Dead Memories" or "Duality" 👌🏽
Not sure which way yo want to go, rock related, since you're latina, definitely try, "The Warning" (Mexican all girl band) love them, maybe try "Six Feet Deep" or "Dime que mas quieres"
You could also try "In This Moment", Maria Brink is awesome and the videos are sick! try "Whore", "Blood" or "Adrenalize"
In any case keep the reactions coming 👍🏽
omg i think you are right and i will check out those as well
Good video!! If you want a little bit of a softer slipknot song I would recommend “A Liar’s Funeral” :))
thanks for this

Im binging your reactions and subscribed. Noticed your responding as i reply. Thank you considering I'm late. 1 thing i notice is your having a hard time between the music videos and music. Try Hellyeah-Hush. Great message with that one and it supports a cause thats important to me and a lot of others. See you on the next one.
Thanks for subbing! & watching all my content love your input
One of my favorite workout songs!
Love your reaction videos! ❤🤘🏽 Highly recommend doing a reaction video for the band jinjer song pisces. Female vocalist will blow your mind.
thanks so much
2:10 You completely missed the point!

@@MiaintheMoment Eio sorry!😁Tbh i do think that it was me that actually missed the point of what you were trying to express. Sorry for being the one to misunderstanding you! But yeah, this is like a particular song for them. I don't think they have another video without their masks
I would highly recommend checking out Pisces (live session) by Jinjer. They are a femsle fronted Ukrainian Prog metal band.
ok thank you so much
You gotta react to Snuff, which still till this day is hard for Corey Taylor to sing. His real life break up song
ok i will do that thanks
Anything Pantera your welcome

@MiaintheMoment start with cemetery gates, Phils range (lead singer) paired with dimebag (one of the greatest guitarist of all time) is insane, something tells me you'll like that one the best ✌️❤️
This video is so aggressively southern Californian that I feel seen for once.
💜
If you want some Slipknot songs with clear vocals.
Try Killpop, Gehenna or Snuff
ok for sure will do
All I can say is I agree with 💯 percent on this video and song babe word for word
Your next stop is: 'Wait and Bleed'. One of the better Slipknot singles from their self-titled release.,

Slipknot- The Devil And I
Lol you touched a lot of nerves with that comment about the out of bed look (fair tbh lmao). If you want to keep exploring into different genres of rock music i recommend The Misfits, i would love to see ur reaction to "I Turned Into a Martian" (short, sweet and very catchy but unfortunately there's no music vid to it), if you only stick to music videos then watch "Dig Up Her Bones" from the same band.
yes, yes i did and i was totally not talking about the music just looks. i think lots were saying that they were not skilled musicians which i would NEVER think. & thanks for the suggestions
Dont worry MIA the metal people is not bad, we are super nice people 😊 but maybe your coment takes other way jeje, react to other side of slipknot, (snuff, dead memories, duality maybe, nero forte, ❤
Slipknot Heratic Anthem Live in London!!!! Hits hard!!!!

You might prefer the singer doing his own thing on his song snuff, just an acoustic guitar. It's a completely different vibe ----> Corey Taylor -snuff.
ok great thanks
Hi Mia you are my new favorite reactor. Btw I saw just Slipknot Live believe me they put lots of effort in the shows! I would recommend the song Custer and Eyeless for you to try next. You can try the band System of a Down

Can you react to Blind by Korn live in Woodstock and Domination by Pantera official live video? Two iconic live performances.
