No surprise, you love Roberts hair, with that great hair you’ve got rocking too! I was privileged to be at this show July 29, 1973 when I was 15 years old… Yes, an iconic live performance that gives you the blues side of the mighty Led Zeppelin! They cover SO MANY genres and styles. Hold on tight, there’s a lot more to come! 😊
I used to to have a girlfriend back around 1979 that watched this with me. I asked her if she liked it and she said.... Robert Plants cock in my face is pretty good
I'm 60 years old and Led Zeppelin is the sound track to my life. To see a young person, loving them at first listen is such a great feeling for me and that I wasn't wrong.
60, m 32 and i am from india where bollywood rules and led zepplin is my life. 6 years ago i heard led zep for the first time and i am still invested in classic rock. Edit: Stupid bollywood
Those days were the best days of my life! This is all my friends and I grew up listening to, and to see you and other generations watching it some 50-plus years later brings some deep emotions out from within me... WE never knew it then, but we were part of a time that once was, but sad to say will never be again..
Great Reaction! The cameraman "he's trying to do something" haha looks like it worked!! This is the stuff we were listening to driving to high school in our cars back in my days! Enjoy more Zeppelin, there's plenty more!
@@snodgrassgerald2352 The critics, of course they were only comparing the concert to previous LZ concerts. Personally I think it's definitely stood the test of time. When you watch reactors react to the individual songs it's hard to imagine that they were all from the same concert, just seeing the group perform any one of them would be a highlight. I had to wait till 2 Jul '80 to see them.
Knew you'd like this live performance Maddy. Who wouldn't?!? "Back-door man" IS "dirty" 😏, BUT the old-school blues def means a lover on the side... "I open my front door and hear my back door slam," as in I leave thru the front door to go to work (from 7-11 every night) and hear that other dude going in thru the back door.
I totally agree,@@patrice384... However, a LOT of what "they" (mainly Robert!) wrote about was borrowed from (Af-Am) old-school blues. Eventually, Zepp gave credit to a number of black bluesmen, for many of Robert's lyrics&vocalizations AND (esp Jimmy's guitar)licks!
Welcome to Led Zeppelin. Blues, rock and roll, Celtic, Arabic, Anglo folk,, sweet tender songs, thunder to whisper dynamics and power like no other. So diverse so amazing... got to meet them many times. and saw them live five times.
There will never be another ZOSO, This is a one of a kind....They are rock gods they were part of my youth.they changed my life and i'm so glad I was part of that.. The mighty LedZep🤘
This song, and "In My Time of Dying", are my two favorite LZ songs, but you rarely heard them, even in the 70's because they weren't considered commercial enough for radio. You might be surprised that back in the late 1960s and early 70's songs like this were only played on "underground" FM stations or college stations after midnight. When I was an undergrad I'd schedule afternoon classes so I could stay up until 3 or 4:00 AM and listen to all the tracks that weren't being played during the day. It was an incredible time for rock music with talent seemingly coming out of nowhere every day.. I discovered LZ completely by accident when I happened to be at the record store when the clerk was unboxing their first album. I loved their name and the cover art with the Hindenburg and bought it without knowing who they were. When I put it on the turn table I was blown away and told everyone I knew they had to hear these guys. Not long afterwards the FM stations got wind of them and started playing their more mainstream songs. As FM started growing their music got a lot more airplay and became popular; the rest is history. As you heard, they've always been inspired by blues classics and you can hear that in much of their music. So while everybody heard "Stairway to Heaven" played over and over again, some of their best music is still unknown to most people. You just discovered a gem so keep digging, there's more out there!
living through the music of the late 50's to the mid 80's was an earth shattering experience.... NO AUTO TUNERS, NO FAKE MUSIC JUST RAW TALENT... it will NEVER be MATCHED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The studio version is well worth hearing. Robert Plant himself considers it his best performance. It's sublime. Also, Led Zeppelin were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
Definitely the studio version is important to check out. From their 3rd album Led Zeppelin lll which was mostly acoustic surprisingly but this song "Since I've Been Loving You" captured the essence of the Blues genre.
It's a shame that the radio only plays the same 3 commercialized, cookie cutter songs, over and over and over. People are completely oblivious to real music that has soul, and that can actually change how you feel and your outlook on things. The way that REAL music can completely change your mood and give you a different attitude or even outlook on life, if even only for that minute, hour, or day, is seriously under appreciated.
Great reaction - I just stumbled upon your channel. They just laid it all out there on the stage. Many of the critics shot down their albums and gave them bad reviews. Despite all the negative critics Led Zeppelin outsold The Rolling Stones, The Who and even Elvis Presley. Their concert tickets outsold Elvis and he requested to meet them. They all met and had a good time chatting. Led Zeppelin ruled the 1970s and never won a Grammy Award -- LOL. Two of their album cover were nominated for Grammys -- and none of their songs or music were - LOL. Check out Achilles' Last Stand from Knebworth Aug 4th, 1979 live concert video for that song. That would be six years after this performance you just watched. 220,000 people were watching them on that night at Knebworth.
Every once in a while, I find it reaction person that I hadn't seen before, and I watch a whole bunch of their reactions. So you're my current favorite reaction person.
Madison Square Gardens NY 1973, probably the finest version of this song ever recorded. Zeppelin tried to make every concert unique, I think you understand what you just watched Maddy. One of a kind band, iconic in every way, hit after hit, I wonder if you ever heard Physical Graffiti, which was one of their best double records. Love that you respect the sheer talent this band had, no auto tune, just four men all the very best at what they do.
Thanks! I first heard this song when I was around your age, and so were these rock legends. It’s thrilling to see someone like you enjoying this song a lifetime after we first heard it.
Maddy, You young lady have selected a killer song by rock giant Led Zeppelin. It is bluesy and darn good!!!!... Just wait until Robert's vocals start! Not bad for four skinny white guys from England!!!! Jimmy Page, the guitar man has been in the music business since the 1950's. No wonder he is SO damn good!!!! Each one of them is a master of their craft!!! I never saw Zeppelin. Back in the 1980's I did see Robert Plant perform as a solo artist. The man is one hell of a singer!!!!!! I must ask, Maddy did you fall in love just now??? YES they are stars........ Maddy you are good looking right now. You are missing nothing in the hair department. Take care!!!!!!! Stay safe!..................
One thing you have to consider... back then... Most people NEVER knew what artists looked like.. their 1st exposure to an artist was typically via radio. It was only until they got an album that they'd actually see the artist picture. Back then there was only print media... no internet, no video, nothing digital. Heck TV only had 3 channels (ABC, CBS, NBC) and the only way music got on TV was something really really late at night like Don Kirshners Rock Concert... and Zep was WAY too huge for that. So the only way to see a band was to go to the gig. The only way most folks saw their favorite artists was via music magazines like Rolling Stone, Creem, Hit Parader, Kerrang!, and others. I knew a lot of girls who never went to a show.. but had their walls COVERED in posters of their favorite artists. Many of those girls had the same poster of Robert Plant on their wall and they all drooled over it... he was a Nordic god to them.

I love these live versions. Particularly at the beginning Page solo, as beautiful as u r Maddy, cant take my eyes off of the eye candy of Page on that guitar.
Three years prior to this mammoth and hugely successful 1973 tour, their third album was released. It was 1970. Robert was at the peak of his vocal powers that year - and ‘71 as well. I highly recommend looking up and reacting to the studio version of this song. His voice could kill any insect in the room. There was nowhere to hide from it!
I saw this in the cinema when the film first came out in 1976 at 12 years old and it floored me back then. You're so lucky to be able to hear it for the first time!

I love this live version, but I would recommend listening to the studio version on Led Zeppelin III. My favorite track on that album. The guitar intro and solos are incredible and the vocals are out of this world, especially for a studio recording. That's my 2 cents. Thanks for this!
Throughout history, moments come along causing fundamental shifts in the world that permanently change the way we feel and play music. Rember that you are looking at four British lads playing the blues which has always been deeply rooted in the American South.,
Led Zeppelin Wright songs and all genres but they are known for their blues songs they are the king of the Blues producing writing and recording.. check out You Shook Me the studio version.. Or a song called I can't quit you babe...
Can't go wrong with a bit of Zep, Maddy. You're right, this live performance oozes energy. The opening solo has a deliberate strong resemblance of the middle eight solo on the Led Zep III album. It works brilliant as an introduction, smashes you in the mouth from the get go. It is such a bluesy song. This is absolutely the right one to react to and I enjoyed your views on it. When you get a mo, I'd strongly recommend listening to the studio original, not as a trade off/compare which is best, simply because I must have listened to it a thousand times, it is truly iconic!
Back then we knew bands from the radio and sometimes got to go a to concert to actually see them. Every popular band was so recognizable and unique in their sound that we knew who the band was within the first two measures of music, even if the song was a new release. MTV changed this to some extent as how a band looked on TV became what people associated with the music, and to a great extent rather than a unique sound they may have had.
This might be their best performance, in my opinion. There are songs I like better, but the creativity on display here is staggering. Great reaction, Maddy!
The musical diversity of LZ is unbelievable. They have 50+ songs just as good as this. Greatest band ever!! Listen to Physical Graffiti. It’s so enjoyable to see a young person getting to experience them!!
When asked recently if Robert had any advice for a frontman of a Zeppelin tribute band.........He said "Tell him to dress it to the right". Referring to best angle to put some stuffing in the jeans. ( Mick Jagger had their management insist on a cucumber for a string of shows for the Stones. )
Go 35 - 40 years forward and see HEART sing the live version of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN in FRONT of Led Zeppelin. One of the best covers ever, and very moving, as most people will attest to.
1975 Valentines Day Long Island New York Show started at 8:20pm it was still going strong at 11:30pm..Ron Wood for the encore...."Communication Breakdown"..sorry but in 2024 I still can not reach again,..that natural high❤
I never got the chance to see them live ,I tried but tickets sold out too fast and I did not have drivers license, too young and depended on friends for these things .. I was planning on seeing them when they were going to tour in the 1980s but drummer John Bonham died and they could not make it without him and LZ went busted up..I did see this concert film in a movie theater though and it seemed almost real anyways .I wish it could be re released again in the theaters ..check out Song Remains the Same and The Rain Song . and they should be heard together
You should hear The Song Remains the Same/Rain Song from the same concert! Live Madison Square Garden 1973!! you think that was hot guitar, just wait... 🙂
Back in the day, a "backdoor man" was the guy your gal was seeing when you're at work. "I opened my front door, heard my back door slam". He was running out the back door when they heard you drive up.
Page opens with a "REAL" solo, then silence, Plant kicks in with his magnificent primal screams, silence, and Bonzo in his brilliance does a jazzy sound to pull them both together. THAT was the magic of the Mighty Zep. Bonzo could pound out the heavies with his drums, or lite it down when the mood called for it, pure genuis. Opps, should try spelling genius correctly.

I was at this show in the garden and there were plenty of cameras filming. You're right they chose that angle to put in the movie.
🌸🩷🌸
This is The GOAT by The GOAT.
The heart and soul of the band, Bonzo, can best be heard on "dazed and confused"
Nice reaction, Beautiful
Sweetheart...LZ ...is the greatest rock band of all time!
You need to hear their song "Rock n Roll"
Nice reaction! Thank you!
No problem 😊
Since I've been loving you, girl 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, Jonh Bonham.....🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
you know i think that show was performed 3 nights in a row at MSG so there may be 3 versions of each song floating around
I’ve been working from 7-11 777 to 11. Funny I’ve listened to Led Zeppelin for 45 years and never heard Jimmy referred to as Jim. Very refreshing.
Same, totally caught me off guard.
I love the way u say "swining, swinging"
I love all their albums. I'm partial to Physical Graffiti. I used to break up my weed in the crease.
I strongly suggest you to listen " When the Leeve Breaks" from LedZeppelin IV.
The blues of the 1950s was a major influence on this band and other 60s and 70s bands. They reimagined the blues with a unique rock influence.
