This is one of the best versions of this song. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! Huge list of hits! "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Proud Mary", "Fortunate Son", "Down On The Corner", "Green River", "The Midnight Special", "Susie Q", "Born On The Bayou", "Travelin' Band", "Run Through The Jungle", "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Bad Moon Rising" etc.
Maddy…just realize that the artist you listen to are old enough to be your grandparents! Love watching young people turn on to the best decades of music ever! The 60’s, and 70’s! 😎🤷🏻♂️🙏✝️❤️
Starting around 1965 through to 1979, you'll find about a hundred rock/pop/blues bands that were great and put out some timeless music! I wish you well on your musical journey of discovery and reactions! As someone who grew up during those days; it is heartwarming and a joy to see younger people like yourself now looking back to these bygone eras and uncovering these old gems of yesteryear! A part of the culture as a teenager in the seventies was to gather around with friends and share in listening to the great music of those times. Watching your reactions to the music of my youth puts a smile on my face and makes me feel young again! Thank you!
John Fogerty was the master of his craft -- and after all these years, he still is. Hearing this made me temporarily young again. Truly enjoy your reactions, Maddy. I like the fact that you're hearing so many of these people for the first time and actually listen to them without yakking all the way through the music.
You have so many songs to choose from when it comes to CCR. I can list a few, my personal favorite has got to be 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain'. Fortunate Son The Midnight Special The Night Time Is The Right Time Run Through The Jungle
CCR is probably my all time favorite band alongside Eagles. John Fogerty had such a unique voice! still sings pretty decent for his age today but nothing compared to what he once sounded like :)
Many of my favorite CCR songs are their hidden gems, as that shows you just how deep their catalog is. Very few sleepers. Some of them are 'Cross-tie Walker', 'Effigy', 'Feelin' Blue', 'Sweet Hitchhiker', 'Keep on Chooglin', 'Ramble Tamble', and so many more. I wish you could hear them all!
I remember my older brother 15 telling me to check out CCR and I loved them. It's fun to see people today reacting the same way 50 years later. We had the best music.
All thought they were from the Bayou but they were from Haight- Ashbury in S.F.. Lived down the street from the G.D. and found a niche for their music. Such a great band and had many great hits.
This was a great reaction! Thanks for doing it and a shout out to Morbius! I hope Maddy gets to react to "Down on the Corner." If she does ill tell you guys a funny story...😊
One of rock's great performances. Hands down, CCR's cover of this song is legend. But as I got lost into this old favorite, I completely neglected to watch your reaction, which is why I opened the video in the first place. Wow, wow, wow x3 pretty much sums it up. I couldn't have come up with a better response, and I heard the song fresh when it was released. Always a fan Maddy. (wear more tank tops)
This is the true benefit of social networking. It allows us to share, discover, and re-discover all the amazing music and comedy the world has to offer. Also, the creative, incredibly talented writers and musicians, and their incredible performances . And as others have said, I really appreciate how Maddy saves most of her commentary until the performance has ended. ✌️ ☮️ 🎵🎸🔥🇺🇸❤️
Now you're getting into my genre of music that I love so much. It's awesome to watch someone else hear this music for the 1st time and enjoy it. Never gets old! They released this album in 1968. The video you just watched was the studio version of this song dubbed with their live performance at Woodstock, the original Woodstock Festival. They got on stage like 12:30am after midnight. Sadly they were not in the Woodstock movie.
Great Reaction Maddy! John Fogerty the lead singer turned 78 this year! And he just finished a World Tour with his son! He’s still going strong! I believe that I Put A Spell On You is the theme to the TV Series True Blood! And Born On The Bayou has been in a lot of movies!🎸🙏🏻
If you feel it today, imagine how AWSOME it was when it was released amongst some very 60s music. It had my immediate attention at 16 years of age along with PROUD MARY released around that time.
Much more referred to as just Creedence or CCR in the day. Such a classic band with the fabulous John Fogerty as lead guitarist and lead singer. No voice is more recognizable. Powerful!!! As a life long (77 now) Bay Area rock addict they were just one of so many bands formed here in the 60's. Some of them could have been seen in their infancies playing at the iconic Frenchy's (RIP) on Mission Blvd. in Hayward in the late 60's thru the 70's as well as, naturally, San Francisco's Filmore West and Avalon Ballroom once they were more established. What memories.
Screamin' Jay Hawkins wrote this song and recorded it first. His version isn't as good musically as the CCR version, but the performance is entertaining because he comes across as completely unhinged. Nina Simone also did a good version. If you've never heard of Creedence Clearwater Revival until now, you have some great discoveries ahead of you. Some of their best songs are Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Green River, Down on the Corner, Fortunate Son, Who'll Stop the Rain, Up Around the Bend, Run Through the Jungle, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Have You Ever Seen the Rain, Born on the Bayou, Lodi, Cotton Fields, and The Midnight Special. Three of the four members of CCR went to the same high school that I did, though they graduated several years before I got there. We Three Kings by The Roches and Jingle Bells by John Fahey are a couple of my favorite Christmas songs. Both are available on UA-cam.
I grew up listening to CCR. I always thought they sounded “swampy”. Like from Louisiana! Come to find out, they are from California! I have never cared where they came from. Great music!
I remember the first time I heard this I absolutely loved it and I bought this first album of theirs well after the fact, and fell in love with every single song on it. For some other emotional bangers, check out, Feeling Blue, Long As I Can See the Light, and, Hideaway (Wish I Could), and about 8 billion others. And they had so much amazing material for such a short time. It's one of those bands where I literally like every song they've ever done.
Amazing to find someone that hasn't heard of CCR before. They had the highest slugging percentage of any band, and it's not really close. Song after song is a straight up bullseye. You're right that CCR was very soulful, and Fogerty's voice helps a lot with that. If you like their jam band capabilities, react to the live version of "Suzie Q" that's on the 40th anniversary edition of their debut album. Or the epic 11-minute "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." You won't be disappointed.
They are performing this live at Woodstock, wish we had more video. I love your reactions, Maddie, I would like to see more. Wrote some great songs about the late '60's and Vietnam, check out Fortunate Son, Run Through the Jungle, I Heard it through the Grapevine. All with the same grittiness, set the mood then on how we were all feeling. No bad songs from Creedence!
You are about to go down the rabbit hole of CCR. They have a whole catalog of hits. You might try the cover to “ I Heard It Through the Grapevine” or for a change of pace listen to Tina Turner cover “Proud Mary” the live version. It is a cover of one of their early songs. Keep up the good work.
John Fogerty has one of my favourite voices along with Stevie Wonder , Whitney, Chris Cornell and Streisand. Born on the bayou, Fortunate Son , Have you ever seen the rain , run through the jungle, so many bangers. Please do more ❤❤❤.
More than any other cover, CCR's version resembles the 1956 original by "Screamin' Jay" Hawkins, but with a bayou flavor all its own. The most famous song by John Fogerty (the lead singer) is "Center Field," released in 1984 and often played in baseball parks.
Screaming Jay Hawkins did it originally said CCR owns the song since he dug it so much. May be my favorite tho they have over a dozen very good songs. Up around the Bend and The Night Time is the Right Time are 🔥🔥🔥 like this. John Fogerty is a great singer. Im listening to music over 60 yrs this great band is still my favorite of all time. Their in Rock n Roll hall of Fame and surely deserve it.
Maddy, another great reaction as usual! If you are looking for another Christmas song, try "Oh Holy Night" by David Phelps (live version). This will replace any version on your playlist, by one of the best tenors you'll ever hear!!! I believe it's from around 2002, and he is even better today....What a true gift from God!!
I get to go see John Fogarty in a couple weeks at the casino here in San Bernardino CA. He just got the rights back to all his songs after like 50 years. Do Suzy Q!!!
This is one of the best versions of this song. CCR has always been one of my favorites. John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. They don't have a bad song! How can you forget "Lodi", "Who'll stop the rain", "Lookin' out my back door" & "Have you ever seen the rain"?
Agreed, but seriously, you should look up the original. Screamin' Jay Hawkins was one of a kind.
CCR had the best version of this song I have the original by Jay Hawkins it doesn't even come close to CCR
@@johnbumgardner7977Even Jay Hawkins said himself that CCR owned this song, that tells you something right there!👍✌️
Not one of, but THE best version, hands down. Screaming Jay agreed.
One of GREATEST of all time. He still sounds great today. Helluva raspy high pitched tenor rock voice, great songwriter & guitarist.
This song still haunts my soul 56 years later ....
Drums. Guitars. Vocals. All incredible. And the atmospherics. Whooooo.
Maddy…just realize that the artist you listen to are old enough to be your grandparents! Love watching young people turn on to the best decades of music ever! The 60’s, and 70’s! 😎🤷🏻♂️🙏✝️❤️
Always loved CCR! Sooo many classic hits!!!
They were called The American Beatles for the # of hits they consistently cranked out.
The best version of this song ever made. The instrumental is fantabulously scrumtralescent 😉👍👊
Love this but also love 9 year old Angelina Jordan's cover.
Love me some CCR! One of my favorite bands back in the day. 🖖❤
Rock on!
Spock on too!
@@anthoantho1989 Thanks. You too, although there is a deeper meaning of this greeting chosen by Leonard Nimoy . 🖖❤
Hello, Jeff " Dude " Lebowski enjoyed Creedence Clearwater Revival too.
This was music in the '70's .

I would strongly suggest your next CCR reaction should be "Born On The Bayou". A groove that's truly iconic...and hypnotic.
Best cover version of this song ever. Nothing else is even close.
one of my favourite cover versions of all-time... CCR are The Bomb
Respect & Peace ☘
You have so many songs to choose from when it comes to CCR.
I can list a few, my personal favorite has got to be 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain'.
Fortunate Son
The Midnight Special
The Night Time Is The Right Time

It helps to have lived through the 1960’s to appreciate this song.
CCR is probably my all time favorite band alongside Eagles. John Fogerty had such a unique voice! still sings pretty decent for his age today but nothing compared to what he once sounded like :)
Just saw him LIVE. He still sounds great & does all the songs in the original key. He's a great guitarist & songwriter.
I don’t think he has changed the keys of his songs over the years.
@@markthoele1808 Correct.

Fogerty's Pageboy haircut is killing me
Classic CCR!!!!!! GOT TO LOVE 'EM!!
My favorite version of this song 🎵 ❤️ Woodstock performance.
So many GREAT Creedence songs Maddy. You would love BORN ON THE BAYOU and RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE.

First heard CCR 54 yrs ago. Never looked bk. Not one bad song out of soo many to choose. Still sound great all this time ltr. TALENT!🎯 .
GReat reaction Maddy! CCR was a great 'back water' blues/rock band. I grew up with their music and still love it today. Thanks for the memories!
Cosmos Factory was my first 8-track I bought in high school. Listened to it driving to school. I had to listen to their other albums. Great band.
CCR is worth looking into 👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️❤️😉
Great Reaction Maddy! John Fogerty the lead singer turned 78 this year! And he just finished a World Tour with his son! He’s still going strong! I believe that I Put A Spell On You is the theme to the TV Series True Blood! And Born On The Bayou has been in a lot of movies!🎸🙏🏻
True Blood theme song was 'Bad Things' by Jace Everett , but I Put A Spell On You would have been perfect too.
You know exactly what your talking about. Great singing is about great communicating the emotions of the song.
Thanks, Bright Angel Maddy. It was a great choice of song, and there was fantastic insight and commentary on the music and vocals.
Do the long version of 'Heard it Through the Grapevine'. It's a classic.
I love the attitude John Fogerty brings to this version of the song.Mesmerizing indeed.

Oh yeah and for something extremely emotionally intense but it's still rocks like crazy, Someday Never Comes.
I liked your summary of the effect a good guitar solo, as a longtime guitarist. "Born On The Bayou" is amazing, like many of their hits!👍👍

I Put a Spell on You is a 1956 song written and recorded by "Screamin' Jay" Hawkins. but you cant deny CCR did it better than almost anybody

It's incredible this is a live performance from Woodstock. So clear no studio help
