@@BlacktailStudio I was able to achieve exactly what I wanted to in my most recent table attempt because of your tips and the gradual upward swirl, avoiding disturbing the epoxy resin setting up on the bottom
You could use the pigment settling to the bottom to your advantage, maybe you could use less pigment at the bottom of the table compared to the top where all of the pigment would have settled?.
@@MMmmmmBobbert he’s suggesting, if both sides are evenly leveled, after the pour, that you could use what would have been the bottom for your now top, since the dyes will settle; quite simple and brilliant really. . .🤙

I'm was an 18-year-old construction student living in Ireland (when I first wrote this) and I just spent the past school year building my own blue epoxy resin river table. your 'what not to do' videos helped me so much with building my mold and how best to go about it so thank you so much for the content you create. I was hoping to improve my skills over the summer and make some custom pieces, however I began going to college doing outdoor sports so I havnt had a lot of time! I've made some small things but for the next few years I'll be far too busy getting my windsurfing and rock climbing instructor qualifications and working in adventure centers to get to a shop to build!

Art Director / Character Designer. Very fun to watch! For the photo shoot, the white background worked better imo simply b/c of the pearl white epoxy coloring mixed in the table. The white background brightens the blue and pearl white epoxy some, and makes the colors shine a little brighter. When you shoot with a black background, it oddly darkens the blue epoxy and really separates that pearl white epoxy where it feels too bright and unnatural. My guess is the black background absorbs too much of the light from your primary light sources and isn't bouncing around enough. Especially not hitting that epoxy as much as it could. You may be able to get away with the black background if you have multiple defused lighting around the room. Any case, I also recognize this video was done like... almost exactly one year ago so I'm sure you have a better photography solution now. Keep up the awesome work!

Skillshare is a website where people can learn things, I think... I never really looked into it to be honest. But almost everyone seems to be sponsored by them. Skillshare is blablabla.” So you had the perfect opportunity to bring up Skillshare. Sponsorship you have now is way better, thank you.
I’m 54 and back in high school I figured out that I enjoyed manual labor. At 16 I took a summer job with a building contractor. We did a lot of roof jobs, house remodels that taught me how to build or redo a house ground up. When I turned 47 I was in a accident. This forced and I do mean FORCED me on disability cause walking became difficult due to nerve damage. We lost our bank savings and I sold everything of value to pay monthly bills and food on table. That only went so far for a year and a half until I got my disability. Now it’s day to day. It never ends. I always enjoyed the carpentry side of what I did for years. Building decks and adding some personal tricks customers seemed to like. Woodworking is the one thing I wish I would’ve pursued more. I could’ve been real good and it would have been something I could’ve done at home. I’m amazed by your talent and enjoy watching a good person succeed. Best wishes from Alabama.
one of the keys to your videos is your pleasant voice. you seem to understand that you're not really trying to "sell" us anything so you don't need that loud jim cramer tone and that you're mostly explaining things (which is awesome). so, thank you for not only not having an annoying voice, but using it in a manner that actually pairs nicely with the visuals (in your videos). keep up the great work!

I'm glad to see all the progress you've made over the last 4 years. Some things you mentioned here are things you've conquered later on!
Software developer, I really love the troll of the week thing :D :D :D
More to come!
Software Mgr: How much does a table like this go for (roughly)?
$3900 😊
I wish I would have learned to be a professional wrestler. That was my life’s goal and I never did it.
Retired I enjoy all of your videos and learn something always, and I see this beautiful blue and pearl table. God bless.
How old are slabs that big?
$90 for this one
@@BlacktailStudio im sorry?
Without seeing whole trunk I would say 60 to 100 years
That made me chuckle, how old? 90$ duh
Some days I feel 90 dollars...
It's hell to get old.
8:00 he starts talking about learning new skills and my UA-cam PTSD flared up and I knew for certain I was about to get hit with a Skillshare endorsement.
Skillshare?
Skillshare is a website where people can learn things, I think... I never really looked into it to be honest. But almost everyone seems to be sponsored by them. And usually the sponsorship is brought up with something like “I have yet to learn this skill, what have you always wanted to learn? Skillshare is blablabla.” So you had the perfect opportunity to bring up Skillshare. Sponsorship you have now is way better, thank you.
Umemployed Veteran. The black scene looks best and fits with your signature. Blacktail. Great looking table!
Hi, I'm not a wood worker, just a chef who loves and appreciates a beautiful table!
I'm a woodworker/cabinetmaker.
I love this project! Must try it some day!
Walnut and blue is so beautiful!!
Am an Architect from Hong Kong and am a recent fan of your works. Lots of dedication and passion. Keep it up!
one of the keys to your videos is your pleasant voice. you seem to understand that you're not really trying to "sell" us anything so you don't need that loud jim cramer tone and that you're mostly explaining things (which is awesome). so, thank you for not only not having an annoying voice, but using it in a manner that actually pairs nicely with the visuals (in your videos). keep up the great work!
your voice is easy to listen to. I like that you talk through the process but it's interesting and informative what you say. Your work is amazing.
Retired Elementary Teacher - This table is simply stunning! I preferred the white background for taking the pictures!
I was a carpenter/commercial superintendent foundation to finish. Working with wood and steel gang forms, to cast concrete. Then inside at places like microsoft, banks, old and new homes and TI. I have been building basic design furniture for years. Now it's time to step it up a notch. To be possibly building fine furniture as you do. Great video
I am an award and trophy maker
I just love how this table ended up, hopefully I'll get around to making one like this one day, great job!
My name is Diana and I am an RV technician in CT! My father is a woodworker and has been building beautiful custom furniture my whole life so I am spoiled as far as getting to see gorgeous craftsmanship- just saying this because I am stunned by your work and absolutely adores watching this video! My father is getting older and I am now doing research into how to make a table similar to this, something he and I can do as a project together! Thank you so much for these awesome videos! Now I must go watch the rest of them!!
Community maintenance officer.I love the colour blue. Then mixed with the white it makes it stand out so much more. Please keep these videos coming. Andy
The contrasting blue offset with the wood grain really makes it pop. Love your work!!!
Metal - doesn’t detract from the features of the table top. Beautiful top and great workmanship!
I've just watched your video today (September 5th 2022) and I can tell you happily that I built a tea tray as a woodwork school project and the dovetails (we had no machines in Swaziland!) of the tray were so super good that the teacher built a glass cabinet and put my tea tray and hung it on the wall of the classroom. It is still hanging there today.
Director of operations here and very far from a woodworker as I'm terrified of saws. Although I enjoy my day job once I start working on a given day, I see it a meal ticket to help me keep up with life and its complexities. Thanks for sharing this video of your wonderful work of art! The recipient of the table is very lucky!
Master Photography (I still love shooting 35mm film) and Graphic Designer. My on board Drafting Skills are F1rst Class. I need to finish learning how to play Drums. And I prefer the white backdrop.
I love the blue river running through this table!
I was a manufacturing, mechanical and design engineer for 22 years in California. My family and I now live in Dubois, Wyoming at a 186 acre ranch. We rent cabins and I’ve been doing everything under the sun. What I really enjoy is working with wood and one day hope to have time to do amazing work as you.
Cam, RN here, I’ve been hounding you for a colorful epoxy on some other videos, glad I ran across this one. Love the pop.
Hey! Active Duty Marine stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I have always enjoyed woodworking but up until the last year I have never done anything more than just around the house projects. I have recently gotten into epoxy pours, and purchased a CNC Router, doing plaques and stuff. Your videos and tutorials have saved me a lot of heartache already! thanks for the education and keep them coming man, really enjoying it and looking to take it next level myself as i retire in 3 years.
While I don't build many tables and have never used the epoxy fills, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I concentrate on mountain dulcimers.
I'm retired. This was an amazing video the table is beautiful. I've ordered from someone close to me in Michigan and I'm waiting now for it so informative watching your video
I like the black back drop and you do beautiful work I am a retired plumber &steamfitter always loved wood working bought a couple of slabs and going to try a river run table been watching your videos before I try it thanks for the pointers
Retired, but looking for inspiration. I feel the white background is best as your tables are quite dark. This table is AMAZING, I love the blue! Thank you for taking the time to film your creations.
Been in the oilfield the past 12 years and I am so done. Tables like these are what I want to do....just need to get started. Don't even have equipment/tools yet but I will get there.
Cosmetic chemist. I've bought some tools like a router and an orbital sander which I didn't have already. The men around me think I'm going to mess my table up because I'm a complete novice with wood. I'm confident I can pull this off. Fingers crossed. If I do it is in no small part thanks to you. Your videos have been my go to resource. Thank you
I'm a submarine electrician. Really enjoy watching your videos. Initially found your content when trying to figure out how to fix some epoxy issues I ran into a while ago. Super helpful and I really enjoy your appraisal of yourself and difficulties. Thanks for your honesty and for sharing your process!
Hooyah! Retired STS here. Cool to see another SS sailor here. Stay safe brother!
patience is something I wish I had learned. probably the most useful skill you can have.
This is my very favorite of all the stunning work you have done. Thank you!
I'm an executive of a delivery company but I used to do cabinetry for about 5 years. Love your videos they make me want to get back into wood working
Engineer in the Silicon Valley. Always enjoy watching your process and end results. Very entertaining and inspirational. I'm working on putting together a home workshop with the challenge of making enough space to allow me to get those creative juices flowing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. It is most appreciated. All the Best!!!
I’m not a woodworker. Although I really enjoy watching your projects. I am a retired nurse anesthetist.
My passion is American government ( not US government ) and currently studying common law and grand jury. It floats MY boat.
BTW, very pretty table!! Love the blue pearl.
A table inspired by the elements (earth, fire, water, air) and combining the charring, colored resin, and some ideas from your other pieces could be amazing.
Your honesty is refreshing in a world of content creators with regards to you being sponsored by Liquid Glass.
I am disabled, so I don't have a job. I am watching your video's as a passtime. I love your work (and all your talking and expliciet stuff for that matter.....!)
I really like what you did here with the blue. I would like to see you use more colour epoxy. Keep up the good work!
Blue being my favourite colour, this table is stunning!
Okay, my favorite ... with the blue ... but would like a huge dining room table, or a kitchen island done this way. Dreaming, of course. Sigh. So sweet.
This is so cool. I am a commercial fisherman. I work certain months of the year then have some time off. I think I'm going to start playing with epoxy projects. This is really impressive.
I appreciate your video. Wasn't sure how to get a mixture of colors and to keep adding swirls . The swirls gave it a great touch, thanks
I am a Construction Manager for a commercial GC! Love the videos and also watched your video regarding how you got started. I am a true hobbyist but getting tired of dealing with lying subcontractors. Looking to eventually go full time. Your videos are laid out very well and appreciate the truthfulness and being real about your mistakes. I really appreciate that you try not to be humorous or over do it with comedy skits. Keep the style and content you use now. Really helps to motivate someone like me to keep trying!! Thanks!!
i am starting up a sawmill business and my son is getting in to doing the resin tables and i love your table that you did
Ex-commercial pilot, running my own renovation business now. Love your work, not because you are a fellow aviator, but because you do excellent work!
By the way, I got my first instrument rating in Washington at Paine field (home of the 747 at the time). I love washington, and the people, even though I'm Canadian.
Technical Analyst - Fantastic job on that table, I love the blue/white mix of epoxy.
I think the black backdrop looks very cool!
I just got my first circular saw! & just made my first bed frame & closet organizer! Im still a rookie but would love to learn more about epoxy to make more creative things. Thank you for your videos!
Horticulture student. Oyur videos are great thank you for the content. I'm just beginning to do stuff like this as a de-stresser. Your videos help me get ideas for pieces of wood i find.
Scientist. I love what the pearl white did to make it look more water. Uneven island of scrap even with holes for more character.
But I would love to see what you could do when they put the battery ends on the table and let it burn into the wood and use some hint of color, maybe not just blue. And the rounding of the edges. Details are amazing. Coffee table or a wall piece as a conversation starter.
I love this table with the blue and the pearl white, it's superb.
Badass table and video!! Loved how you added two islands and dovetail legs. That's original for sure.
