I did exactly the same thing today, even the dash cam it's the same, except I put the dash cam upright due to the length of cable is not long enough, probably it has something to do with the car model.
Is there any reason you cannot safely power your dash cam with a portable battery backup charger? I hooked up my Falcon Zero to my Anker portable charger and it seems to work fine in the car and when I take it inside to make changes in the set up.
what about the charging cord. do you have to plug, and unplug it when starting and turning off the car it won't over load if left in the plug?? i have a 2013 ford escape. and the charger socket is always on.
If the socket is always one, I would recommend removing it from the outlet when you turn off the vehicle, as not to drain the battery. Or you can always purchase one of our hardwire kit, and connect it to switched power fuse.
I managed to run the wire through the headliner, through the b pillar, and around the front seat to the rear cigarette lighter. 95% of the cable is not visible. The car is an MB C300.

Cam on glass? Nothing. In winter or sommertime cam will fall from glass. So I use a small line to secure cam at sunshade
