Nice video, very informative and easy to follow. I'll be purchasing a camera shortly myself and I'll be looking to install it in the same manner that you have!
Another thing I thought id mention is the angle of your windscreen also dictates where you should position your camera to allow correct exposure and light hitting the lens (aswell as protecting it from those summer days with sun over). I've had a few instances where i've mounted the camera behind the windscreen and the exposure levels had to be dramatically upped (ie +1.5/2) in order to get consistent video quality. But I guess it all depends on your car and camera. Apart from that, great review and is exactly how I ran and hid my wires.
An inverter is a DC to AC converter. Its a DC/DC converter in a dash camera power supply or usually simply called a voltage regulator. You can buy these separately if you want to hard wire into the cars 12v electrical system or simply crack open the casing of the supplied power adapter to solder that into the system directly or solder a 12v outlet on the inside of the dash. Do it from a switched line though.
This is a truly excellent video! I am not tech savvy at all, but this video made installing my new Navman MiVue 800 Duel Camera logically quite simple. Thanks for the superb upload!
Cheers for the video, been seeing a lot of crazy shit around town so I though I might get a dash cam and put a clip together of the shitty drivers/ accidents in Mildura.
Great video! I'll be sure to follow this when I install one. Does anyone know any good reasonably priced dashcams, that can survive in the heat of Perth summer?

Your detailed description was very helpful for me to install my cable for the dash cam which I have now done. Thank you!

What about to the Rear?
Great video. Thanks a lot - running power to the camera has always been something I've been confused about.

Thanks for trick and tip.
You should've filmed it in the light rather than a dark garage
How bout connection to the rear dual cam?

The steering wheel is on the correct side of the car. Your steering is on the wrong side.
