He could do plenty of entry level office jobs that require writing. He may have some mental health issues like depression or anxiety, sometimes you just stop caring and life begins to feel meaningless.
The college degree in creative writing is probably not gonna be too much of a use. Maybe he needs some hard core skills that would land him a job without having to spend 3 years writing free blogs and free articles to build a portfolio
“What’s wrong!?” He sounded so genuine when he asked that 💔. This is just terrible. Not having no life with direction will really mess you up. Sheesshhh!

Yeah, I caught the same thing when he mentioned 15 hour days. You do that once a week at $8 and that is 6k a year. Is he working 2 days a week at these two jobs and nothing the other 5? I mean, he cant be working more than 10 hours a week at either job ig he is only making 10k. He still has lots of time to work another job
I think he mentioned that he just graduated, so maybe he graduated in May/August and has made 10k to date? Still low for the hours he’s mentioned though
He's averaging 10 dollars an hour between his two jobs. He said he makes less than 10 k a year. 10 k a year is only 200 a week. 200$÷10/hr=20hrs a week. Dude is working less than 20 hours a week. He probably works both jobs on one of the days of the week and calls it 15 hour day

When you take advantage of an 18 year old kid and lend him over 100k, in some cases, to pursue something you know is generally not going to be fruitful you are engaged in fraud.
Again, when a mortgage broker just goes around approving loan applications from anyone who asks they are considered corrupt. They need to be jailed, taught a lesson, etc. Yet somehow giving a child (because yes that's what an 18 year old truly is) a loan to go waste money at college is ok?

@@HandfulOfTranquility Well I'm not sure but he could be making $5,000 - $10,000 a month driving ubers, delivering pizzas and mowing lawns. He needs to get out there and get it done!
This proves a college degree means nothing without confidence, the right knowledge to use the degree, skills that are in demand, and maybe experience.
Having a plan and desire to succeed is important factors in success. Going aimlessly to college with no real motivation does not help.
You need a good college degree + networking= opportunities= jobs
I should stop beating myself up about not having a college degree, as I got really depressed seeing people more qualified than myself doing things I wanted to do.
Facts..Etc
Proud of this dude for asking for help!
And I liked how his voice perked up and straightened up when Dave called him "sir". We are rooting for you, young man.
I would be on Uber so fast if that was an option!
Real rap man. My heart aches for this man.
Yessir. I make $66,000+ a year as a self employed courier.
You need a “newer” car for Uber. Maybe Uber eats or door dash though
His 2004 car isn’t going to meet the requirements for Uber, but it’s possible he could do food delivery.
Most online apps such as Uber Lyft require you to have a car that's 10 years or newer. This car is as old as mine and they won't let me sign up.
He's right, delivering pizzas as a SECOND job is a great move. I did it back in my 20s and was making a very nice income in Florida at the time, while I was figuring out what I wanted to do.
I delivered pizzas when i was like 18-19 and made 120 bucks a night plus 8hr shifts. Its not a bad gig. If you had a 2nd job thatd be some good money, fr
Sadly, Eric is not an isolated case. God only knows how many Eric's there are out there...
The calls on this show are very eye opening. Many of these callers are in deep holes with no direction and all of them are at least financially concious.
Far too many people aren't even that. They see money as disposable because it "comes and goes". This gives you an idea of the general populous and how illiterate they are when it comes to finances. It is sad. We have to start teaching people at a young age, whether in school or at home.
Millions.
I'm in the same boat as this guy. I also have a creative writing degree. Currently I work at Safeway.
My heart melted out when I hear the suffering into his voice.
Ramsey is a man of integrity.he’s probably saved lives. I’ve been at low points in my life as well.
This poor man has had fear and doubt beaten into him so hard he literally is submitting to asking even a question. This is so wrong. Hey may not have ambition and personal accountability is key but it sounds like that wasn't fully his doing either. Props to him actually calling in and hopefully he finds some well needed courage.
I’m really glad that Eric called in. He knows he has a financial problem and he sought advice from Dave before making a possible mistake filing for bankruptcy. It was rough to hear his story. I’m sure the pandemic knocked him further down mentally and financially. The pandemic has been difficult for so many people. I really hope that he’s able to turn things around by applying Dave’s advice and Financial Peace University. He also needs a hug and then he can get to work finding some other sources of income. I want to know why he had to go to the ER so often. I hope he’s on the right track now.
I wonder how this guy is doing. He sounded so down in the dumps... Hopefully life has been treating him well in the past 3 years and he managed to sort all of his problems.
I'm 31 and this didn't make me feel so bad living off of a teacher's salary. I guess I need to realize I have a lot of good in my life.
It hurt to listen, someone failed him. I respect him so much for calling in! Hopefully his future is bright.
his parents. some people just fk for the sake of it and make children not knowing their role on this planet. i had the same kind of arse hole parents. my mother was sick for her entire life, unwilling to get better and work a job and my father blew all of his money in pubs and with women. Now I am 51, I work as engineer and my income is below the median. No connections, no luck.
@@globalmuffin2 Same with mine. Too busy wallowing in their own drama, misery, & victimhood to f'n raise their kids. Then you grow up, middle aged yourself before you can look back & see crystal clear how monumentally f'd it all was. My saving grace is I'm childfree & single, so I have the time & space to set things right.
God bless you for being to gentle with your delivery and for being so helpful instead of being judgmental!
Let's pray for this guy! We don't know what he's going through
I think this person is experiencing depression or something. It is not normal. I hope he can get his income up soon.
I dont think so
I feel for this guy. He's a full grown adult but he seems to be in a lot of pain, or clueless like a child. He's probably afraid of taking a step towards sorting his career/life because no one ever had his back and pushed him in the right direction.
A lot of people are in this boat.
Dave is honestly being so kind to this man. He is down bad and I hope he's able to get a better job and do well.
Bless his soul. He's trying and I know it's hard to see a way. Been there and poverty adversely affects the mind greatly. 🙏💜
Prayers for this guy ❤ I truly hope he can turn this life around
My prayers go out to you, brother. I know times are tough and it seems like you’re stuck but you have a whole community here behind you and ready to give any advice you need. Keep your head and prayers up but NEVER give up!
Thank you guys, for being so kind.
This was actually so sad to hear I hope things get better for him
Also I delivery pizzas right now and make a great deal of money for my age would recommend 😂
I kind of feel bad for him. He sounds like he's just living in the moment and just thinking about how to survive today.
Its easy to sit and post comments for the guy. I feel for the man. Someone or something really let this guy down in life. He has lost hope and confidence. I hope you get back up Sir and may god bless you.
I agree, I pray that he prospers
Calling Dave is a step and action showing he wants to change the situation. You already took a first huge step. Congratulations
Eric I hope you are doing much better. Takes courage as a man to call Dave & crew. I’d love to hear updates on these callers. Prayers
