This is the channel I need! Thanks!
Hi from Quebec city, Canada! Great clips! My Burb now has 201K miles and really contemplating rebuild the top end and delete DOD. Your clips really helped me understand better how to do it right. I should do it later this summer and will keep your clips close for reference. Thanks a million!!
That exhaust leak sounds like my Harley. Great video man! I own a Tahoe and may need to do this. Just recently replaced the valve gaskets and grommets
Awesome bro. We all forget sh!t. Thanks for showing it.
Thanks for the video, it just helped me figure out that sound in my Tahoe.
You supposed to soak your lifters the night before lol
No you aren't.
Lol.. if you like it put a ring on it !!🤣good one bro.
When in doubt always check… Great Job..
Keep do it bro. Cuz of your vids im doing my 5.3 03 yukon xl. I want to go high performance
Thanks for all your vids man I'm working on the same vehicle right now going through about the same thing.
Dod lifters will fail at one point or another. Switching to the original hydraulic roller lifters is the best thing for your engine. 👍
Eliminate the problem
I wish you were near colorado to fix my truck ,great videos
By the videos...looks like you know what you are doing.
Im dealing myself with the same problem on a 2011 gmc sierra
"The Tahoe is Done" said no Tahoe owner ever 😂
I get nervous wondering if I turned off the coffee pot, I can imagine.......
😁 yea, better safe than sorry!
Good on you always check it twice. Engines are costly
Drop the oil put one quart of Marvels Mystery Oil fill the rest with your choice oil to level. View the results..... Hope this helps.
There’s a bolt on the left side of the block or drivers side you remove and stick a 3/8” hose in there and fill with oil. That’s where you prime the oil pump.
Waste of time. Prelube all moving parts and pour oil in the pump and turn by hand.
Built hundreds of ls motors the same way.
Never a problem.
Lmao I got a TPMS light on too 😂 but doesn’t really bother me.
I hate it when i second guess myself. Either way i can't think straight until i check on whatever is bugging me out. Then you complete the dod delete and then it's something else. Dang how about that. Life caught on camera. Haha. Sorry about that leak but something so simple i am sure you got it.
Well if you have time then you will never regret doing something just to make sure
Put the multi layer steel oe Exhuast gaskets back in the best ones to get
Oil pump seal.... the bottom pipe in the pan
What’s your mpg looking like ? and would u Recommend a tsp vvt 2 cam for truck Sierra 1500 ?
Good job bro I'm thinking about doing everything you did to my 2007 caddlic escalade 6.2 motor but to my understanding everything is the same as a 5.3 liter I am a mechanic I did my a job like this to my cop car a little different but all is the same concept 💡 😅
By the way very good videos bro
When u bought it when it had the collapse lifters ..was it knocking
You should've got you some headed so you can get all the power
All in all. You did a great job GT. Cleanliness is a plus. Engine sounds good bro. Better than before the upgrade. I am curious to know how it effected your mpg. Keep up the good work.
I just put $40 premium today, and reset the trip.. we'll see in a few days👍
So check it I have a 07 suburban thinking about doing the delete on my on just on question how long did it take for you and what’s the hardest part
That flange is a pain....but she will sound great after replacing it. 👍 Thumbs 👍
Whenever you get an estimate, let us know about how much of a difference you notice on mpg before and after DOD delete.
I can't really say how much gas it used before, because I bought the Tahoe with a misfire caused by the collapsed lifter. But, I put $30 at $2.30 a gal. That gave me about 13 gallons, and I did about 100 miles. So, I'm guessing about 8 - 10 miles per gallon!
I'm sure I can see the gas needle going down just as fast as the speedometer going up! 😅
Got the same truck mine was chp.
Sucks second guessing those cam bolts, I noticed you videoed torquing everything except those. I put a motor in my 2011 z71, and the drivers side uses a flat gasket where the passenger side uses a regular donut gasket, mine was the flat exhaust gasket on the drivers side
kool sounded really good and what about the oldie the 65 chevy kool video sir till next time
Thanks! For the oldie, I have planned on taking the ls 6.0 engine, harness & tranny from my blue truck, and swapping it into the 66. But, I want to give it a fresh overhaul while the engine is out. 👍 I think it gets better attn and value on the 66, than the 01.
I'll save some cash to make it happen.
Sounds kool looking forward to those videos again thanks and can't wait 4 the Camaro video's 2 well stay safe sir
Needs an exhaust it's too quiet with that stock rear resonator. On our 07 Tahoe we deleted that resonator and stock muffler for a magnaflow straight through muffler.
I already installed a magnaflow and deleted the resonator. Still have stock manifolds with cats
What were the hp & torque ??
After the tune
You have to soak the lifters in oil and I like to unplug coils and crank the engine for 30 seconds to get the oil in the galleys before the first start
Soaking lifters is NOT recommended.
Cranking without plug wires is a great idea. Sure way go get oil pressure
@@davidsharp922whys it not recommended? Everyone ive seen replace them, soak them
@@oliverrivas5957 I built hundreds of LS motors without soaking the lifters. Then,we were using the brian tooley Delphi ls7 lifters that had a piece of paper in the box saying to soak the lifters in mineral oil to break up the stuff that was in the lifters and then to soak them in oil.
Before using the brian tooley lifters we never had a problem.
Needless to say we stopped using those lifters and use the ones we always had been using but I spray them out with brake cleaner and soak them in oil. The machine shop does not soak them and they don't have problems but my buddy at the shop got scared by the problems with the bryan tooley lifters so I soak them anyhow.
I would avoid the bryan tooley LS7 Delphi lifters. Too many problems with them.
Did u make a video on the exhaust leak
As far as the arm/delete goes can you drop a older engine in before the afm and just get a tune on that idk I’m in motor issues think new engine but got an older one so just curious thanks
You can put a gen 3 block in but you have to use gen 4 crank, gen 4 crank sensor, gen 4 4 pole cam gear and gen 4 timing cover with the sensor in it.
Also have to extend cam sensor harness and drill and tap block on each side for the gen 4 knock sensors.
Easier to use gen 4 if that is what vehicle has from factory.
Any pointers when I do my 6.2 liter let me no
😎 👍 👊 ✌
12:12 If you like it you should put a ring on it 😂👍🏼
Did you do the 90 and 70 degrees turns after the 22 foot pounds?
I sure hope, he did, otherwise.......bang=))))
Nice video, planning same work on my 2010 Silverado. Did the tuner tune it on a chassis dyno?
It was a street tune
@@GTsPerformance thanks.
Nice build...did you figure out why it was running on 4-cylinders? What did Lucky's do to fix it?
After the cam swap to disable DOD. Cyl 1, 4, 6 & 8 were disabled. Had to take it to disable the active fuel management.
@@GTsPerformance So I understand it was only a matter of tuning or re-programing it after the DOD delete? There was nothing wrong parts-wise?
Y cuando le apagan los 4 cilindros el ruido desaparece
A k torque ban los tornillos de las cavesas
I have the exact same sound on my truck. Did it get rid of the knocking sound
Anyone know a good tuner in Houston?
Ayuda !!!!
Oil pump seal
Oil pump tube seal
Ok tank you aunque la oil pump they put it new ill try to make them check that
Karla Lopez ok let us know is it fix it
After the tune what kind of hp and tq did you get?
340rwhp no doubt
If you didn’t tighten any valvetrain bolts you would know immediately lol
I live in San Antonio, how much would you charge to do my Tahoe!?!?
Seriously
1000$
Need to torque to spec
Needs long tube headers and cold air intake.
Lol if you like put a ring on it lol
I hate cars that are loud. I know most people like it when their cars sound like a damn harley but not me i like it when i cant tell that my car is on cause its so quite. I feel like when your car is too loud you cant even tell when you actually start having other issues
Buy a Tesla
Not exhaust leak new sound.of.CA!
Yes, torqueing is IMPORTANT, now...did you put new lifters soaking in oil over night?? Very important, they have to slowly fill up with oil!! I knew your exhaust leak was from that flange, very typical, Chevy problem, I was yelling you,...you did not hear =)))), also did you torque that small bolt, pipe going to oilpump?? I hope you did, and...also thread lock into cam bolts, yes??? hope you did......;o) One more thing: No timing chain tensioner into new chain??? I sure did not see it????, just wondering....
what is DOD
Ismael displacement on demand, fuel is shut off to 4 out of the 8 cylinders in normal driving, when you accelerate, the other 4 will come on. Sounds good in theory, why not just supply all 8 cylinders with less fuel & keep it simple?
@@jdub229r and it always, ALWAYS, fails.
How much do you pay for a garage like that
All together, It was about 12k. The size is 24x36,.. the concrete slab was 3k, and the garage was 9k. Material & labor
How much was tune
$200 for the first time. $50 anytime after that
What did it cost u to delete it
Well, if its only to deactivate the DOD.. it should only be like $60-$80 depends on the place. But, that is IF your truck is already running and want to disable the DOD so you won't have this problem with a stuck lifter.
Since I changed out the cam and lifters.. I had mine "street tuned". So it was $200 for the first time, then $50 any other time I want to change the tune.
After you did the delete why was it only running on 4 cylinders
Originally, the DOD had solenoids that have all 8 cyl running so you have all the v8 power. While cruising highway speed. 4 of the cylinders deactivate so it saves gas. Once you give it enough gas again, the solenoid active and all 8 cyl begin to work again.
These afm lifters are on cyl 1, 4, 6 and 7. One of the lifters stayed stuck so basically the truck was only running 7 cyl at its best. I had a dead cylinder.
After the cam swap, the kit came with a valley cover that bypassed the solenoids so the truck would always be running on 8, but since there is no longer solenoids in place. The computer detected it and stopped sending power to 4 injectors.
👉Basically, the solenoids are an on/off switch to oil going to 4 of your lifters (the other 4 always have constant supply of oil). If you shut off 4 cylinders, there's no need for the injectors to be sending fuel either.
I hope it explained.
Thank your government and the dumb CAFE rules in place now a days
HOW MUCH YOU PAY TO TUNE IT IF I MISS THAT PART
The first time was $250, but anytime after that is $50. It's street tune not dyno tune
Some SPM would have been appropriate background beats
She sounds mean!
Awesome content, Just finished mine. Check it out
Those are some messed up teeth dude!
why do you have tinfoil in your teeth
😅 it's not tinfoil.. they're gold grills. And I use them because my teeth are less than perfect.
@@GTsPerformance Oh. i understand now.
i saw your cam install. its great work man!
I think my 4.8 sounds better stage 4 cam with a 40 series FM
Soak your lifters
No, just coat them, give them a quick oil bath....you soak them you risk a chance of one of them not pumping up and then you got bigger problems
Trent robey Where did you hear that?
Why would soaking the lifters cause them to Not Pump Up?
@@kyleallen3857 well soak em that way it's all there. No dry rub. Not a good way to start up a fresh build... 😭
Yo that how mine sound firts crank the dod with out tune and with the 1 plug in ecu thinks it needs to be in 4 believe it or not i pluged my old valley plate in and truck ran great ecu is learning every drive
