1999 and 2000 6.0 has a LONGER crank. That is why the newer motors have the spacer between the flex plate and crankshaft. This spacer MUST be removed before installing the 5.3 flexplate.
    Other changes:
If your 5.3 is a flex fuel motor, swap your entire intake manifold because injector plugs on the harness are different. Depending on the year, GM switches fuel delivery to a returnless system so the rails will be different.
Other differences are the throttle bodies. The 2005+ motors are drive by wire rather than cable so this might be another reason to change the intake manifold.

Dude, don't worry about if the truck is worth as much as you put in. If you go with the Duramax 2500 (LLY) (hopefully the 2006 and up with the upgraded motor) your gonna sink WAY more in than that truck is worth! Diesels are expensive. You and I are on the same wavelength with our trucks. I just picked mine up and sinked 2 grand in it already and I just hit the upgrade phase of the build. I can tell you your channel will blow up if you do go for it and get the 2500 and build both trucks. One thing I really think you should consider is the coilover conversion with the mid travel upper A arm and hydrolic stops. Awesome upgrade!!! Would perform and look awesome on your truck!

Nice truck man, I recently finished my 6.0 swap on my 2002 cam, heads and intake. Only thing I had to swap over was a new 5.3 oil pressure sender and the flexplate, everything else is identical. To those reading this, make sure you don't get the 99-02 iron head 6.0 unless you want to mess with the extended crank shaft. 6.0's will eat up your 4l60e especially with a high stall due to the heat generated. My built monster 4l60e is holding up great so far!

Lifted Silverado Build omg fucking monster dude....I'm glad yours is holding up ...mine was absolute dog shit ..I got the HD and a 2500 stall on a 465 like 2400$ and I have had NOTHING but problems .got it ran it about 3 mons and broke a sprag sent it back Steve was like I'll warranty it this time but I think you reverse dropped it .which I would NEVER to with my 37s 513 gears and a tru Trac it would explode my rear .put it in drove it 4 mons 1 trip to Florida bout 1600 miles and it started slipping in the way back and only has 1 St and reverse .Steve said it wouldn't be warranted ..I got so fucking pissed off I parked it 5 years ago ..I'm about to start working on it I have a05 2500 I wrecked I'm using as a donor truck it has a 480 with about 10k miles I'm putting the whole drivetrain under my 02 1500 I am pulling my comp thumper cam out of my 5.3 putting it in the 6.0 so I have to Dyno tune anyway might as well put the 6 oh in it and the 480 hell with monster I did nothing but love that trans after all that money watched temp never let it get hot maybe I just got a bad one my buddy got a 700r4 and abused that thing never had a problem but I took one in the ass on that deal....

The stock 4l60 will never last with a cammed 6.0. it was shit behind a stock 5.3/4.8 you should get a class 2 built 4l80e and have them put in a shorter 1st gear from monster transmission. You will need a new starter, dipstick tube, flexplate and transfer case. I recommend getting a mechanical transfer case. If you get a mechanical transfer case you can use one of the speed sensor wires for the trans instead of buying a harness for the extra trans speed sensor. Then you will need a different front drive shaft and it's gonna have to be custom made. (don't trust anyone that tells you you can use a 2500 front drive shaft. The lengths are different and it will not work I promise). It's a lot of work but you won't be happy with a 4l60 it was made for a car not a heavy truck. Especially not a heavy truck with a cammed 6.0. also don't order a trans from power torque they are cheap but they are a mega budget trans. I made that mistake but I've done months and months of research on this stuff

If that’s all you want to do then make sure you get a 6.0 that is 2002 and up. The early ones have a different length crank. I wouldn’t mess with it. Then just use the flexplate off your 5.3 and you are ready to rock. Everything is the same. So you can use all your stock wiring and intake manifold and exhaust manifold/headers. Then just get it tuned for the 6.0, you won’t be disappointed

Use your factory stuff. You will have to swap 2 wires in your transmission plug and add a speed sensor. Super easy and there are tons of videos going over it. Tahoe Steve has some good videos.

I got a 2000 Silverado Ext Cab 4x4 5.3L I want to 6.0 swap it mainly because why not not trying to go all out I will do Heads cam headers exhaust and few small upgrades like electric fans etc.
But I was curious best year to find a Engine for it
My truck is drive by wire so was curious what would work I understand using my throttle body on different intake or using my 5.3 intake is possible but curious of your opinion

The engine blocks are all the same 99-06. The electrical stuff is what changed. Just swap a long block 6.0 in and keep everything from your 5.3. Lq9 are the best to get. 04-06 around those years.
