- How Toyota Created The Perfect Driver’s Car
The Toyota Yaris GR started as a rally-bred machine developed for Toyota's return to the World Rally Championship in 2017. Designed with a bespoke chassis, a surprisingly light all-wheel-drive system, and a punchy three cylinder engine, it was built to meet WRC's stringent regulations. These rally-inspired features translated exceptionally well to road use, resulting in a compact, powerful car with exceptional handling. The Yaris GR quickly became celebrated as a perfect driver's car, combining thrilling performance with everyday practicality.

When Akio Toyoda said "no more boring cars", he meant it.
💯
Akio Toyoda is a legend !!
😢 too bad someone else is running the show at Toyota and is ruining things
Toyoda's legacy is eternal,@@twanvorstenbosch
@@MotorLegends-storiesall the modern Toyota hatchbacks all looked awesome.
As a past and current WRC fan i have to say you cant help but love toyota. All of thier classic and retro rally cars are loved and the modern rally one yaris is truly something to behold. Plus toyotas lineup of drivers is easily the most likeable with sebastien ogier, elfyn evans and kalle rovanpera who are all great people and drivers. I used to feel mixed about toyota cars but ever since i started following the wrc i cant help but love them. Good video!
Yaris gr makes me want to forgive Toyota for the celica gt four wrc cheating.
@@dpaterson42 Fun fact: The FIA's investigative committee that examined the Celica GT 4's tampering described the mechanism as "so advanced and so new that you can't help but marvel at the technology and new ideas.
Although it was a serious fraud, the method was so clever that the FIA engineers were astonished.
At the same time, Toyota, which accepted the punishment, also took the cheating very seriously and suspended its participation in the WRC for a longer period than the penalty handed down by the FIA.
This sincere attitude is highly appreciated by WRC fans outside Japan, and is one of the reasons why Toyota's return to the WRC has been received so favorably.
(In Japan, there are many people who originally have an aversion to motorsports, and their reactions were different from those of WRC fans in Western countries, partly because they could not read the FIA reports in other languages correctly.)
Cheating in motorsports is a combination of innovative ideas from engineers who exploit loopholes in the rules.
Motor sports fans should understand that such problems are a common occurrence in the fierce competition.
@@dpaterson42man i still miss the 1986 to 1995 Celica ST205 WRC cars.😢
Now I want to have a gr yaris with a body kit 😂 as if my dream car list couldn't get any longer😂
Not a bad choice
Pandem makes a kit and probably some other companies
I've owned a lot of cars in my 40 odd years of driving hot cars but my GR rallye (bang for buck) tops them all
BECAUSE you can have fun driving it
1) In any weather dry or wet
2) On any road smooth or rough
3) Fast or slow
GR Yaris Rallye also has nimble handling like Lotus Motorsport Elise.
THE NFS MOVIE WAS GREAT I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL
fr, NFS slander will not be tolerated 😤
One of the best opening race scenes in a movie 🍿
Underrated af
Listen, I love nfs but they did not make a good movie. If you want an nfs movie then go play The Run
Toyota have created a monster ❤
best car ever! I'm definitely not biased haha, look into Lampeed racing, they've already pushed the platform to make 1000hp from the G16E engine.
Great video. Keep up with good work. When you use imperial measurements, could you also write them in metric system?
Thanks for watching, we'll take your feedback on board 😇
This video made me fall in love with toyota once again ( I am a toyota fan )
they build 3 of those 2021 GR Yaris WRC cars, there's a video about those cars on DirtFish youtube channel. I think it's the wildest looking Yaris rally car ever build, those Rally1 hybrids don't have all that crazy aero anymore
Definitely different, but the diffuser and rear wing are still huge lol almost comical looking especially on the Hyundai. I personally think it's the best looking car on the grid with that low nose.
Thank you for another fantastic documentary with a brilliant narrative yet again. The Yaris! Who'd have thunk it? I want one too ...
Thank you for watching, Hound Dog!
Kalle Rovanperä being a factory driver makes a lot of sense. as a privateer team it would be really hard to be able to compete with that, as they can just break parts and replace them with no remorse to secure the title. It's a different form of racing
Thats why i got one
“Hey honey I got the Yaris…honey?”
Tomi Makinen was my favorite rally driver.
Wow…….awesome video!
Thank you!
Do a series on Mitsubishi , Subaru , Peugeot , Lancia rally history !
@pasasitheran7737 Have You heard of ALBON? His channel does a lot of history videos about JDM carmakers. You might like his content. Really good vids
Yaris is one of the most underrated car
Toyota in WRC even in 2024 still is the dominant force and the team that they all wanted to beat in 2024 WRC Season.
1:35 did he put F1 car sound on?
Nice video, but no mention of how good the 4wd system is 🤙
Could you make videos on the Ford gt40
👍
CO2 footprint??? ridiculous...out of a zilion cars moveing right now idiots picks up raceing...brilliant
No driver ever said that a drivers car is a drivers car.
