      @fredericfuknchopin4552to be fair, these guys are using it for racing applications like Drag racing or Time Attack rather than for daily driving, so they are already fully expecting to do a rebuild of this engine multiple times.

    Due to being a 3 cylinder the powerband is different, its longer. The dynamics of a 3 cylinder longer duration crank, is when it has spun up it delivers a natural power rotation much like an airplane propeller. Even with a bad counterbalance the engine will want to naturally spin at higher rev's. Put some forced induction on that engine and you will achieve good power gains with little effort.

Maybe have 2 or 3 modes. 1 for regular sunday driving, 2 for street fun or track days, and if I had the 3rd then it would be for bonkers foolery just for kicks or for the dragstrip. I think 300HP at the wheels max would be good for that street/track day setting, and like 200 for regular driving. On a car that weighs about a ton flat with a full tank of gas, that’s more than enough to keep a massive grin on my face.

    funny enough the NA pre XP210 models make well north of 800 if you add a turbo. one extra cylinder really does help, those also come with APR studs from APR for the motor which has been around since 1999. bigger injectors up to 1200cc. and then alot of piggyback options available mostly from greddy. but nobodys going to care about those. couldnt understand why, post 2012 models were made in france and post 2014 models came with 25 extra spotwelds for rigidity as well as tons of chassis upgrades from cusco, tien, whiteline etc. i think it was underloved because it was not fatter but just FWD. its no heavier then pre 2012 models. whatever, just means it will handle better. doesnt need slip correction from an AWD system. power is instant instead of split between wheels. but whatever ill just wait till their 25 year importable. i hope i can snag an 8 speed auto version someday.

      Huh ? Ignoring the power number, they actually said multiple times that it is running in the 9s. I believe if you know the weight of the car and the quarter mile time you can figure out the power. Probably an online calculator for that, but can't be arsed looking for it. Also someone else commented it was 880 at the wheels so 960 at the crank. Add in a bit of generous rounding, and you get the "magic" 1000

  • @EliCamacho

    Why are we measuring a gas engine's power in terms of kilowatts? I hope thats not what we're going to be doing from here on out. These engines are powered by gasoline explosions, not electric current. Horsepower is an all around universal measurement we can use interchangeably. You can't use "kilowatts" interchangeably. Let's stick with what makes the most sense to avoid confusion between an EV and a gas engine.

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  2 місяці тому +1

      Kilowatts were used before horsepower and are part of the metric system.
      It has nothing to do with EVs. It's a unit of measurement.
      Hope that helps expand your knowledge base along with some time on Google needed on this topic perhaps😉- Taz.

    3 cyl will always be unbalanced and so is a stupid base to build from.
    Tough materials sustain high cylinder pressure but that’s not the point, it’s not balanced.
    I6 or V12 will make the same power with a nicer noise and better balance without requiring a big, laggy turbo.
    This whole build is an exercise in pointless bullshit.

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  6 днів тому

      Speaking of pointless, good luck fitting a V12 in a Yaris and not completely ruining the handling 😂
      Every option comes with a compromise, an I6 or V12 will have different trade offs/issues/downsides, that's all 😉 - Taz.
