I’ve watched a lot of reactions to this and not many pick up or talk about the changes in the lyrics to bring it into today and showing nothing has changed... so good job on that! 👍 Great reaction!!
Just caught up with this. This is the first time I've seen the video to this version (I've loved the Bad Wolves version since it came out) and the thing that struck me most was that it is such a moving tribute to Dolores. Reprising the gold figure from the Cranberries original, and having her slowly paint the barrier between them, separating them forever, is powerful stuff. Briefly scratching the date in the paint, too - that was neatly done.
We need God's love and to give God's love. We are always repeating history and even when we get someone who changes things for the good the people of "the system" silences them. We get hurt. we hate, we separate ourselves. Don't stop loving those that look like those who hurt you. We need to come together in God's love.
Yeah man, you got it. The part that jerks a tear out of me was when the girl writes 1-15-18 on the glass. Very emotional tribute to Delores. They did a great job.
The best part of this video is the heart wrenching symbolism. The woman, who clearly represents Dolores, being on the opposite side of a pane of glass, obviously representing that she is no longer on the same plane of existence. The hands touching shows the emotional attachment the band, and further, the world, felt with Dolores and the Cranberries. The cover is probably the best that ever will be, but the video has so much visual depth and emotion, it’s incredible.
I am a huge Bad Wolves fan and love that you did a reaction video of this powerful song. Remember When is definitely another song to check out Also Learn to Live is another good one. I love this bad because you can feel the strength and energy when you listen. This guys put their hearts and soul into making music. They are also making some new music videos that should be out soon.
I met Tommy Vext at a bar in Kansas when he was the singer for Divine Heresy, along with the rest of the band. Very cool and very talented. Thanks for the upload!
Mad respect T. I love watching you get into it man, the energy passes from the musicians to us and makes us feel every bit. Tommy is a badass. Another great song they made was Remember When. A lot of his personal history was revealed with his older brother who actually killed him, but they were able to bring him back and he's a living miracle
Right on, man! Perfect comments. I'm with you. I actually first heard this cover yesterday. I never was interested in it, as it was so sad Delores passed the day she was to record with them. Now, I think this version is just incredible. Imagery with the video is haunting. Thanks. Going to give you a sub on the basis of this. Peace, love, and Hendrix!
You are the first reaction I saw where you knew the difference in the lyrics and the song references and the comparison to the original video. I appreciate you understanding the history prior to this reaction. It was refreshing to see because most reactions I see frustrate me. Thumbs up from me.
As English it's hard to comment on the Troubles except that it was essentially civil war. Neighbours against neighbours, families torn apart and streets turned to war zones. If you look at the original music video there's a fair bit of footage. Think of tanks and the army just rolling down a suburban street. There's still a lot of tension around the topic and still a lot of resentment. Lots of people were killed and it wasn't so long ago, relatives are still alive and hurting from their loss. Bombs were set in public places in Northern Ireland and around England, particularly London. It was a war. The original song was iconic. But speaks to all war which makes it have such relevance and longevity. I like the lyric changes. In another 30 years it'll likely be able to be covered again with more updates. The Bad Wolves I've not heard of but they have the perfect amount of rage and talent for this song. Brilliant job.
This song was written by the Cranberries for two young boys who were blown up and killed by an IRA bomb walking by a bin outside McDonald's in Warrington England on Feb 26 1993, the boys were Tim Parry aged 12 and Jonathen Ball aged 3. They were innocent victims of war between Ireland and the UK, thankfully this war is over forever one hopes. But, may the souls from both sides of this long hard war finally RIP.
Great reaction!! I still prefer the original (nostalgia), but they do do a great updated/tribute... it was good to see the golden goddess in this video too, interesting how it looked like she was melting in this rendition... foreshadowing???. I believe the have donated all monetary gains to charity after Dolores' death... RIP, she was so talented and beautiful
Actually, i think the woman in gold is NOT Dolores... she never made it to the recording... this video is a tribute to her...the woman in gold even scratch the date of her death in the paint...
Go back and listen to the very very end. They say Thank you. I feel it was their way of telling Delores thank you for the song she wrote and the hearts she touched.
I don't know if it's because I love the original so much, or it's because of the fact that Dolores died and all they dedicated this to her. But as soon as that piano starts, I can feel myself struggling to hold back the tears. Afterwards I have to drink some beer and hammer up some drywall to rediscover my manliness.
I do wish that someone would have mentioned the date traced thru the gold paint….01-15 and then the year of her death. THAT was the most touching tribute to the Cranberries lead singer 😢
Hi Northern Ireland is British with British people it also has people who want to be with Eire and that’s the issue here. It’s been going on for centuries yes this British did some awful things BUT so did the otherside. There will always be tensions in Northern Ireland because of this.
Here is some history on how the troubles(conflict) in Northern Ireland started. This video is on the event known as Bloody Sunday in Derry in Northern Ireland, however there is 800 years of britsh occupation that preceded this. To put things simply the Irish catholics were living in a Jim Crow style situation in Northern Ireland (which remained under british rule after the rest of Ireland achieved freedom from british rule). Inspired by Martin Luther King's civil rights movement they organized a civil rights march and this is what happened. ua-cam.com/video/CquBS2hnLNI/v-deo.html
If you arent familiar with Pink Floyd, then I strongly recommend Comfortably Numb (studio version). The way you talk about music suggests you'd dig this. The live versions are great, but start in the studio.
I find the lack of education Americans receive on the world outside of america stunning. It is this kind of ignorance that leads to a lack of understanding and creates a path to self-centered arrogance. Willful or intentional ignorance should never be tolerated, it leaves us shallow minded and dumb. Your shit stinks the most when you don't think it stinks. We can learn a lot about ourselves when we learn about others, more often than not we find that we have a lot more in common than we do differences. Mankind is not as civilized as we lead ourselves to believe, mans inhumanity to man is a testament to that. We can do better, we must do better.
I think he modernized it to make it reflect the conflict in the middle east. But he didn't steal it they just covered it. I believe it was suppose to feature the original singer, Delores but she passed so they decided to donate all proceeds to her family.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT Yes, What I just said, he toke a Irish song and made it about some thing else. Lets not pretend he did any thing good for the song, or the original artist. It is what it is.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT Don`t forget the Irish have been under English rule and still are today. All the time America have been free, the Irish are still not. It`s part of the Brexit problems, the border between north and south Ireland. That war is still very modern, the song need no chancing, or modernization. He is just delting there history, to use it to hate on America, a nation there broke free from England.
Tommy simonsen The reason the song is so iconic is because it forced discourse between generations. It was the younger generation telling the older generation to swallow their pride and squash it for the good of the future. It’s Delores’s gift to the world to show that this could be done. Them updating it, especially the way they did it, is them asking us not forget what she (and the whole band) did. While the original was about The Troubles, it had a very powerful universal message about collateral damages in conflicts, no matter who they are between.
I’ve watched a lot of reactions to this and not many pick up or talk about the changes in the lyrics to bring it into today and showing nothing has changed... so good job on that! 👍 Great reaction!!
kiwigirljacks completely agree. First time I heard it and caught drones, maybe we should do reactions! 😂 Well done
I wish you could've come with us.
Yep, didn't have drones back in the day. Plus they put the year 2018 in (the year of Delores' passing).
I weep when I hear this song. Be it the original, or the cover, I weep.
Me too. Emotional song. 🌸
Me too.. I can't help it.
It's not a cover. Listen close. It's the second version Delores O'Rorden approved of 5 weeks before she died.
Me too - it's so hard not to! I have been a fan of hers from the beginning. I cried a LOT the first time I saw this. I do love this version too.
She is a physicist.

I'm glad I am not the only one who caught that.
That's not something Tom really wants to do.
The other day, I watched this cover and sobbed thinking about how nothing ever changes. I'm scared for our children. 😢
Nothing fucking changes.
Everything we do needs to be for our children. All we can do is teach them to be strong & true.
We need God's love and to give God's love. We are always repeating history and even when we get someone who changes things for the good the people of "the system" silences them. We get hurt. we hate, we separate ourselves. Don't stop loving those that look like those who hurt you. We need to come together in God's love.
This cover still brings tears to my eyes

The changes to the lyrics are perfect. IMHO, this is one of the three best covers of any well-known song in modern music history.
Absolutely! Have you seen ‘the sound of silence’ cover by Disturbed.... it is breathtaking.
INCREDIBLE cover and tribute. Actually teared up on this one. WELL DONE... audibly/visually... EVERYTHING ❤️

I love your emotional reaction. Thank you for your sheer love of the song.
Great rendition...captures the same emotion as the original....RIP Dolores
Apparently I watched before cuz I hit the like button. I'm going to watch again because it's so good.
lol
Thanks for hanging with me tonight. That Hotrod Lincoln song was a great request.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT I really enjoyed myself and I'm looking forward to Friday night. I'm making a list of upbeat country music.
This is how you make a cover. Pay tribute, make it epic, sound awesome.

Excellent reaction my man! You know your history!
Thank you for your very genuine reactrion.
This is first time I saw their version. Ty, I cried .
nice, talking thru the intro about her passing the day she was supposed to go into the studio with this band to do THIS song ........
Just subbed, can't wait to see more of you to help through this quarantine!
awesome reaction tho, ur channel deserves so much more views, greetings from brazil :)
amazing reaction my dude, excellent!
Your first reaction to Tommy's voice, love it. Not sure if you have done it, but you should do a reaction to their song "Remember When".

In general, communication between doctors and their patients is the most important part of medical treatment.
Great reaction,I've subbed you!🏴
This is only one of two covers I’ve ever liked more than original. This was amazing. The other is disturbed Sound is Silence
I appreciate the fuck out of you noticing them changing the words to include drones. It's subtle, but powerful considering they're an American band.

Absolutely listen to Remember When by Bad Wolves! It's crazy moving.

Badass!!!!
You should do Disturbed- sound of silence. It’s a really good song and the way they interpreted it is amazing.
Please react to "Sober" by Bad Wolves - it's a new track of their's and the video & the song itself are REALLY good!
_PLEASE_ Check out Breed 77's cover of Zombie - too - for another take on this. Bit rockier, but strong flamenco vibes. You won't regre it. :)
Breed 77's version is a lot angrier, too. This one is frustrated, and the original was horrified.
Agree! I always thought of Breed’s as more of a lament that nothing seemed to be _changing_.
Tommy is the man!!!

Yea I went back re read it.
and you talked over and ignored the important message written at the start of the video

Chancing guns to Drones, destroy the song, there were used no drones in that war. he just stole this lovely song from the Irish.
