#badwolves #zombie #thecranberries #cover #musicreactions #reaction
I read somewhere that when the actress playing Delores came onset wearing the gold paint the band had a very emotional reaction.
The reason the golden woman is in the video is because in the original Cranberries music video Dolores was wearing the same sort of outfit and gold body paint.
The glass pane separating them is representative of her passing away and being separated from us since. At least that's the only reasonable interpretation in to my mind.
Great reaction as usual Rachel :)
Plus she wrote Dolores' date of death on the glass
That was how I interpreted as well.
So their cover is coming, purely, from a place of respect for her: obviously they wanted her on the "cover" and that unfortunately did not happen due to the terrible circumstances. They did what they could without her. You also have to remember the song itself comes from a place of unrest between Northern Ireland and The Repulic of Ireland, which is still prevalent to this day, but not taught in US schools nor is it really talked about much around the world, but children died because of this futile feud between two religions... Bad Wolves are working backwards from a place of little knowledge and no personal stakes in the topic, while also trying to pay due to a very prominent figure in Irish culture, and I think they did a very good job at it.
The band was actually at the studio in America, while Dolores was supposed to show at a studio in London and have a video call with between the two, when the news of her passing came through. They immediately did the final round of vocals, to cover the parts where her vocals would have been, including the first verse, and then mastered it and released the single that same day. In the first verse, you can absolutely hear how Tommy (the vocalist at the time) was pained by the news, and while his voice is steady, if you listen super closely to the line "but you see, it's not me," his voice wavers ever so slightly, and I personally think it adds so much more to the song that he was singing while in pain. Makes it hit so much harder.
This cover hit hard for so many reasons, they did an amazing tribute cover!! much respect to them for pulling it off and giving alot of effot to to it, nice to hear your opinion and thoughts on it.
This was their spin on it. The heavier tone, the different key, the solo, and the lyrics are even updated for the recent era of warfare. This cover is mind blowing because the heavy tone as well as their performance in the video is their genuine emotional expression of just how much Delores meant to them and by proxy to us. I'm wondering if we're watching the same video here...
god this song just became so relevant again,....
Exactly!! When she said she hopes they put their own spin on it, I was like... "Are you listening to the song??" This is totally a new heavy spin on this song. Love it so much.
This has got to be one of the best remakes I've ever heard. They killed it
The fact that they updated the lyrics by saying "2018" and "drones" is brilliant
100% agree with this! It was the best touch to the original giving the time frame
yeah unfollow if u have half brain of her
Not only that, it highlights our inability as a species to stop hating and killing each other. It's passed time to be done with that foolishness. I doubt we ever will, human nature being what it is and all that.
In the original zombie music video she was painted gold like that. So it was a call back to that, and very well done.
i was a teenager when the original version came out. at the time i was a die hard metalhead. but something about her voice caught me and ulimately brought me to explore other genre of music. her voice was one of a kind. the song, powerful. this song brings me back to those years and hold a place deep down.
IMHO the two versions are on different levels: the original was the song of a mother and her pain for the loss of her children (the song was written after the death of 2 children in an attack), I see this version as the a young man's anger at seeing that despite all the progress, humanity is unable to find peace
eah them donating the money was a great thing .. and then the children decided to sue them for exploiting their mom. go figure
This is the only video I have left of my reaction days.... Such a great cover and very emotional
Tommy is a beast of a vocalist. You should hear him with Divine Heresy.
This was my go to song for a while because zombie and linger are my two faves by the cranberries. I’m glad you reacted to this because it’s so heartfelt and emotional. Loved the reaction as always❤ RIP Dolores O’ Riordan ❤
Please next one be Motionless in white Another life " im sure you will love it !! We are waiting !! ❤❤

Or there song voices
I always loved the Cranberries. And Dolores and I were the same age when she passed. I think this was a solid cover. Reminds me of her and that is always a good thing.
The Original is amazing but the fact that it's a tribute done for the artist that was supposed to already be in the process of making the song and then dying. It hits on a completely different level just like So Far Away By Avenged Sevenfold
I don't know if you've seen the original music video, but in this one Dolores was the golden woman. Here, the golden woman represents Dolores.
She stands on the other side of the glass wall, she is unreachable. A beautiful and sad metaphor in the video.
You talk all the time about how they should have had a spin in the song. Have you been listening? The whole song is musically different from the original. The original one was punk rock and this one is metal. In addition, lyrics were changed. The song was brought into the year 2018 and drones were edited to it. I don't know what you want more. It's become a completely different genre.
Don't forget that the date that the golden girl wrote on the glass was the day Delores passed away.
@@jessestonebarger1796 I didn't forget, I didn't think it was necessary to mention it, because the anniversary of her death was mentioned in the video before the song.
I would like to tell you that She had the Most Beautiful Casket I have Ever Seen ❤️ 😢😢😢😢
It was an admirable, honoring tribute. Still stops my breath and now I need to go back to Dolores again again again. Painful for all the right reasons. Peace and Love.
The golden woman in the video was paying homage to Delores because she was the golden woman in her video.
One has to remember - it was going to be sung with Dolores right up to the day she died/it was recorded. Changing it was too late and, realistically would have been really disrespectful. There's a moment when covers are planned from the ground up to be different - this wasn't it.
No one could ever replace Dolores (RIP 😢) but this was a great attempt and the intent was admirable!
I had heard this before when I was searching for the original, curiosity got to me, not at all what I was expecting but very good! Interesting fact: the singer was sacked some time later because he had controversial political opinions, this was deemed to be possibly damaging to the band.
Nice reaction, liked it! 🌹
Oh and congratulations on the 100k 🎉🎉🎉 woohoo - what are we gonna do for a celebration?
the singer wasnt sacked right after it was several years later
@@stevehayles9721 sorry, my bad - that’s what I was led to believe!
@@DarrellW_UK No apology needed. yeah BW and Tommy had a rather Nasty parting of ways.... legal action and all sorts of trash but you were correct it was about his political views and his outspoken distrust of the government responses to COVID and Protests
what a good guess about "Delores's" golden ghost representing her spirit they were supposed to collaborate with that day! I've read that when the model playing her, Ava Capra I think was her name, showed up on set in the gold paint, EVERYONE on set just FROZE ........
ava seems incredibly we trained. her movements in this reminds me of mady from dance moms that got that gig with sia
This cover couldn't sound more different from the original. How did they not put their own spin on it?
These guys opened for nickelback when I saw them in 2019. Really happy I got the opportunity to see them live.
You can see and hear the passion and emotion in this video, absolutely one of my favorite covers of all time
Yeah, this was originally supposed to feature Dolores and she literally died like the day before or a couple days before so they shot it anyways and did it as a tribute and from what I understand don’t know if they did but all the money raised from the song, went to her family. She drowned in the bathtub. The world definitely lost amazing singer when she passed. But bad wolves do a really good job.
Like you, the original is incomparable; untouchable. Updating "and their -- tanks, bombs, bombs, guns" to "tanks, bombs, guns, drones" does make it more relevant to today, but doubling "bombs" was so impactful. I do think "Same old thing in 2018" and the screaming on "Zombies" were good changes to make it a tribute without sacrificing so many lyrics for change that it disrupted the message.
But I also acknowledge that there were a number of last minute changes because of Dolores's death.
Some covers end up being the version they were meant to be. Disturbed (sound of silence) and Johnny Cash (Hurt). Simon and garfunkle was a warning, disturbed was you didn't listen... Trent reznor did hurt about his younger life and drugs.... But cash was a reflection of his whole life
I remember the day Dolores died. It was January 15th 2018. That day was my friends 21st bday and we took her out to the bars and everyone was Karaoke cranberries songs every bar we went to.
I attended the first concert after they released this where they actually played it live for the first time for the band. It was mind blowing.
Ray, thank you for covering this. I love the original and never knew about this cover. It had me in tears.
Leo Moracchioli does a great cover of this song. Well, he does great covers of a lot of songs. My 2 favorites are "Hello" by Adele and "Africa" by Toto.
Have you heard his cover of "Easy on me" Adele loved it !
I agree. Leo does great covers. Africa is amazing and Hello is great too. I love his videos. All self made, fun and a bit goofy too. He has played at big metal festivals like Waken Open Air.
a wonderful tribute to a woman who dedicated her later years to advocating for and raising funds for all children in war zones in our troubled world.....R.I.P., Dolores, we miss ya' and need your heart more than ever ( I wish you could hear me 'keening' these words ).........
Crazy how that works sometimes having to do a couple things at once to be able to focus.
I think the music itself in this song expresses more than the words
You must watch the original one, because it’s just a piece of brilliant
The glass is the veil of death that separates us all.
Not sure if you caught it but he adds the word Drone into the song to that wasn’t in the original
Watch the original video. The Golden Woman was a tribute to Dolores !
You need to listen to Remember When by Bad Wolves... it will knock your socks off... Also... Still waiting for the Dayseeker reaction.
i actually heard this before the original lol, let my aunt listen to it and she was oh i love the cranberries, she didn't know the singsr had passed though
I think exactly the same than you. I read that there was some different points of views in the band for the rendition of this cover/hommage. But the fact that Dolores passed away the day she had to sing with them may have impacted the final result to transform this cover in hommage with maybe less variation than they thought at start. But it just my personal interpretation.
Congrats on 100k Rachel!
If you liked Bad Wolves, they have a great song called Hear Me Now ft Diamante if you'd like to give it a listen! As always, keep up the amazing work :)
Song Request: Come On by Oktaf Kanis, thanks! 🔥
Oh yeah i hope 'come on' will be the next reaction 🙌🏻
COME ON IS A BANGER!
I thought the golden woman was Dolores. I thought they finished filming and she was due to sing the next day.
If you want something a little different but beautiful from NIN, check out The Great Below, or A Moment to Breathe.
Also my favorite music video of his is the one that keeps popping up at the end of the videos youve been watching, The Perfect Drug. Directed by Mark Romanek, who also did the video for Closer, amongst other iconic music videos for other groups, as well as some great feature films like One Hour Photo.
I'm Afraid of Americans is another great music video, which was shot in the late 90's but is now available in super sharp 4k. Trent and David Bowie.
Oh brainflash! Since you did this amazing cover (not gonna go into all the details and backstory,as others has done it) Did you know that they have one of the best duets made in Rock/Metal history? Diamante (with all blue hair, like Alissa White Gluz) has been a bestie with pretty much the entire band for years, she can be spotted in at least 1 of theyr music videos backstage with them. They were/still are under the same label (Better Noise Music),and Diamante is technically a solo artist, but she has her own rock band with her on tour, and in some of her music videos.
And i fell in love with her voice from the first time i heard her voice, and the first time i heard her,was singing a duet with Tommy Vext from Bad Wolves. I discovered her through Bad Wolves basically.
She makes what she calls Glam Rock, and shes a natural stunner of a beauty. The song in question is possibly the best harmonizing voices you have heard in a LONG time: Bad Wolves - Hear Me Now feat. DIAMANTE (Official Video)
For the next video, i request:
*FILTER - WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE*
You gonna love it, trust me ❤
You did this reaction eight months ago. I don't know if you've watched the original version done by the Cranberries. If you haven't by highly recommend it!!!
✌️💚🤘 it's the only way to fly!
Tommy Vext has a great voice
I would love to have heard that collaboration
I hate and love this song; it's so mind numbingly nearsighted if 20 years of war are reverted to such insane standards, and then the human factor which I still understand but I'd rather go fight again. Shit, if I had my way rules of engagement wouldn't exist and it'd be real bloodbath.

I love this song! Is one of my fav covers of this song!🔥
the original vocals are very sad with alot of pain and the bad wolves one is kinda more a anger caused by what happens cause the world still has these kind of events happening. on the other hand the drums on this version are still very sad sounding. like the original. i think this version hits very hard. imagine if Dolores was also on the track you would have the mix of the anger and saddness in 1.
congrats on the 100k and great reaction
Thank you very much!
That's one of the covers, that I know that they were covers and actually liked more than the original. And I knew and listened to the original since my teenage years. Anyway, I'm subscribing.
P.S. I would love to see some System of a down on the channel
Thank you 😢❤
Can you make for the next one papa roach - no apologies
Skinderd - that's my jam
Avatar - bloody angel or dance devil dance
7:44 the date when Dolores passed away, a tribute to her.
You should see the original version too, it's really good
Another cover I'd highly recommend is In This Moment's cover of In the Air Tonight that was originally done by Phil Collins. In my opinion, In This Moment did a great job of keeping the same vibe of the original while also making it their own.
This cover has gotten some radio play around here. I didn’t see the video, so I didn’t know about those text messages until now.
Gotta say thanks and Dolores would, I believe, appreciate the power in his voice. GB.
I also appreciate your reaction and the insight you have shown...
Wasn't she supposed to sing on the song the day she was found?
If I had one wish in this world it would be to of seen Dolores complete this colab. As much as I love this remake to not hear her vocals.
If you ever see that Bad Wolves on tour in your area go and see them. Damn good band live. Saw them when they were touring with Hollywood Undead and Papa Roach
The Cranberries did a video showing the golden women.
Congratulations on 100k🎉
Mr. J
Thank you!
A very well done remake 😊
You need to check out remember when by bad wolves
You watched this version before the original? Huh? Watch the OG now it will give you retrospective to this one. This is a great heavier version.
You have to understand it would have been different with her vocals but I actually prefer this version to the original as I am a hard rocker but the original is more emotional as it is very personal. They grew up with the fighting in Northern Ireland. I hate war as it is controlled by religion, politics and greed. Greed is the root of all evil IMO. Well money but fueled by greed. I love rock and metal as they are not afraid to takle the difficult topics. My fav anti war songs are Holly Wars by Megadeth, War Pigs by Black Sabbath, Civil War by Guns N Roses, One and Disposible Hero's by Metallica and Fortunate Son by Credance Clearwater Revival. Most are anti political as well as anti war. Iron Maiden like to sing about war but they are more a history lesson than taking a side. War! What is it good for! Absolutely nothing! One of the best lines in any song.
Let's get some Ghost videos soon. Halloween is coming soon. Dance Macabre, Cirice, Square Hammer, Hunters Moon.
Love your content Rachel I was wondering if you could react to Dino gala - owlz fyi it's a sad acoustic song
Can you image this song with Delores’ voice It would have been amazing
It would have
Does anyone know who the golden woman depicted here is? I have done a Google search and can't find anything.
If you look at the golden woman as being Delores and that they did this with him but shes now gone and shes the woman behind the glass that they cant quite reach. Big oof.
Is it just me, or is your audio always way softer than other video's?
PS: Still love your vids, just have to turn it up a little more 😀
Congrats on 100K
Drones were added, and year updated
One thing I think you missed he said drones instead of guns.
Nice Cover
You should react more of bad wolf's when tommy still the vocalist... Like
Remember when
No masters
Hear me now ft Diamante
If you get a chance, I’d love to see a reaction to Hail the Apocalypse by Avatar.
Please do Sabaton "1916" and then do the original by Motörhead. But you cant do wrong with any Motörhead song cause Motörhead didnt do bad songs. They played anything rockin' from blues to thrash metal
It’s a good cover as far as covers go. Hurt by Johnny cash might be the best cover
Not a popular opinion I think but I like this better then the original
You should do my immortal by amy lee
Difficult to cover such an iconic song; especially given the passion in the original driven by witnessing the Troubles first hand and ultimately such an awful event. I remember the trauma of what was known as the Mainland Campaign. I surprise my self that my favourite version, after the original, is by Miley Cyrus.
Gotta do some Periphery or Bad Omens! Both have great vocalists!
If you watch the original video the gold lady makes a ton more sence.
so sad you said you know this song really well but didnt notice the quite a few lyrical changes in it.
Listen to Shaman - Fairy Tale (André Matos)
You should definitely check out Reds cover of Ordinary World. It's really good.
Reaction, Bad Omens - The Death Of Peace Of Mind 🙏
i know it's a completely different genre but please react to Juan Gabriel - Amor eterno
Tommy Vext is a fantastic vocalist. He is no longer with Bad Wolves. Try some of his solo stuff...
Please react to "2022 em uma música" by Lucas Inutilismo!!! Brazilians love to see the reactions!!!
