Imagine being a huge fan of the Mosquito, and then you find out it has a successor. The Hornet
As a massive mosquito fan, I can relate to this. As soon as I found out about the Hornet, I checked to see if it was in War Thunder. I grinded it out and now it is my favourite plane in the game - massive climb rate and speed, great guns and it looks great.

The hornet never flew in ww2 though it never reached squadron status

I just use black prince + hornet ,have done for past year or so now, my hornet has a 3:1 kd now and in arb its just that much better ,nothing is faster than it I love it

UK has such a strong 6.0 lineup if you include the Black Prince. It's my favorite lineup

this thing is one of my most favorite planes. Massive engine power, high top speed, and a devastating armament. Also bombs!
It has so much potential but isn't always easy to use, especially the stall characteristics...
Attempt #2 It’s been five years since you’ve played the Ta-152. Recently I’ve enjoyed using it naval battles with the lower tier destroyers and hunt down the slow bombers trying to get to my ships, the constantly varying incoming AA just adds a little extra fun to chasing them down.
I honestly think early jet fighters like the meteor and 262 are best for fleet defense basically maul the bombers and get away before the enemy fighters come
Mad respect to that HE112, got on phlys six, was engaged by P 51, got on his six, and was only shot down because of the three v one
What is there to respect? He was playing basically a biplane vs monoplane, obviously he would overturn them and got on their six, it is expected from such plane. He could not use it to his advantage though, missed both hornet and mustang and they simply flew away. If it was not for the spitfire he would survive for another turn or two, but eventually be shot down. Bring a capable plane into a fight, not a highly maneuverable useless biplane.

An example would be me bringing brummbar to 6.7, or a biplane with bombs at the same br. I don’t do it to be serious, I do it cause it’s fun.

My dad worked on its younger brother, the Mosquito , he loved working on the plane as an airframe mechanic. It was so much easier to repair than an Aluminium framed aircraft. All you had to do the patch the holes in the wooden skin and it maintained its structural integrity. The De Havilland Mosquito was made in Canada and the English could not believe we could produce such an amazing aircraft in what they considered “the colonies” . My dad , a feisty young man from Sudbury Ontario would correct them on that assumption. Sometimes very …. Kinetically . I’m 52, the last child of parents from “ the greatest generation “ If I was half the man my dad was I would be twice the man of any in my generation. May he Rest In Peace.

I really don't want to be that guy but I am not sure if the Mosquito is the aircraft you are thinking of. The Mosquito was developed just up the road from where I live in a place called Salisbury Hall near Shenley in the UK. They have 3 intact Mosquitos one of which is the prototype developed in a building adjacent to the Museum that was demolished years ago.
Edit: I just re-read what you wrote I assume you mean licensed and built in Canada?
Day 205: Phly, you should play the Hawk III Chinese fighter; 900lbs of bombs in a biplane at 1.0 that you can dogfight in after dropping. Totally balanced.
What's so special? A stuka carries 1200 lbs at 1.3 and has no redundant pair of wings.

The mustang at 3.3 now has 20mm that have 38mm of pen

the hornet is one of my favorite aircraft the 150 octane fuel makes it a BEAST in air rb its so fast no bomber gets away
Fun fact: there is a company in New Zealand restoring one of these . It will be the only flying example left anywhere.
The hornets energy retention is just insane. I love playing this plane in air rb. You'll be like 2 or 3km above the whole enemy team the only plane that can rival your climbrate is the Japanese twin engine Ki. And even that plane will just be at the same alt as you.
Happy to see someone giving the Hornet some love. Now, have you used the Brigand? One of my favourite planes for CAS.
Great vid. I use the Yak-3U for the same role in GRB. Very similar flight performance while turning extremely well too. No bombs and limited on ammo though, but recent 20mm Svhak buffs made oneshotting enemy aircrafts possible.

I do like the Hornet, and am a big fan of late and Cold War era British aircraft. Have to say though that in terms of fun the A36 Apache is probably one of the most fun aircraft for ground pounding I have flown and the Starfighter is such good fun in air rb, just suddenly going vertical and climbing 8km or more in a few minutes is such good fun.
*Sees a tiny spec of an aircraft with no visible details* "That's a P 40". I don't understand how you do it but that's a good skill to have.
Same line-up with the RATEL... so much fun. Especially as the Ratel has HEATFS which can one shot most things.

Attempt 168: Loving the Unloved: Play the lovechild of a Spitfire and a Mustang. The beautiful MB5.
I think its time to re-visit the T-114 paired with the F89B now that it was moved to 7.3. The F89B in the 7.3 bracket feels like what people thought the A-10 would be like. The lack of SAM's in that bracket combined with Afterburner + the Armored belts (earliest jet in US tree to get them) make it a great CAS plane that is really cheap to spawn in. Combine that with a light tank like the T-114 and you have a lineup that prints fun and SL/RP.
I love the hornet/mossie line. great ground attackers.
The He 112 turn was movielike, I didn't even know that that was possible in the game.

Man my favorite interceptor! In Air RB this thing dispatches bombers back to the hangar and specially Ju288c players.

I reckon the best fast Gun CAS prop is the Tempest Vickers and the best jet for zooming around is the La-200

Phly, you gotta try out the firecrest, this thing is 2.3 but has the Bristol Centaurus engine with about 2500hp, yep at 2.3. Only get a pair of fifty cals though, and some rp-3 or bombs, but still 2.3, 2500hp

Bomb racks slow you down, even without the bombs. It makes a really big difference on the Wyvern.

Attempt 7. Play the m6a2e1 using the is2 reverse hull tactic. Due to the 18mph reverse speed you have no issue getting around.
This is the perfect plane to fight against the ju288c. Full WEP, shallow climb, Hispanos for days.

I can say as a user of the british 20mm...the universal belt is the best for CAS, having HE and SAPHE is an incredible advantage against AAs, Not to mention how good their rockets are (even if they are a bit nerfed)
P.S: Mosquitos and several other planes that I can't remember right now have rockets similar to the Tiny Tim (big as fuck)
The mosie and hornet where amazing aircraft and far superior to the fighters and fighter/bombers of many nations at the time and was imo only lost out to the jet planes starting to enter the war scene.
