Many people don’t understand how tough this gig was for Floor. Nightwish fans were still loyal to Tarja, and they ran Annette out of the band. So stepping into this role was a monumental task. But this was early into the tour and she was already winning over the fans around the world.
I am assume you thought this was the Wacken 2013 performance, whereas this is from 2018. I totally agree with you about the pressure Floor was under in the very early days after Annette left.
That's what happens when you fire your lead singer every few albums. Floor is an amazing singer, seeing her with Nightwish live a few years ago really convinced me of that again. Sadly the new music Nightwish started to make ever since Floor joined hasn't reached even a quater of what it once was. Not one song came close to any of the old ones and I'm not just stuck in my old ways, struggeling against the changing times. I'm just 26 years old, when Endless Forms Most Beautiful came out I barely graduated high school. They didn't just switch singers again, Nightwish has become a completely different band now. Recently I rediscovered Dark Passion Play for myself and I was blown away by how much of a masterpiece it is. Annette may have struggled with Tarja's songs live, but she was amazing in the songs written for her. Compared to that and the Tarja albums, the new Nightwish is simple rock music with a hyper active flute every now and then. It doesn't bring any excitement or emotional depth across. What happened to the beautiful compositions that tell a story of their own? When I listen to Tuomas old work I get lost in memories of worlds I never visited. That didn't happen once in the new albums, no matter how hard I tried to give them a chance. As far as I understand it they appear to have found a new audience that likes this simpler music, although to be honest I only hear them talk about Floor, never the music. For me it's as if Tuomas lost his muse along the way. When I want to listen to Nightwish nowadays, I can't touch anything beyond Imaginaerum, because for as much of a legendary singer Floor is, the music is not Nightwish anymore and in my personal oppinion Floor's voice is waisted on these vocal lines.
Hello Bethany [The Vocalyst] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This song is from Buenos Aires in December 2012, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an wild Argentinian audience. At this concert Floor Jansen was in the band for just about 2 and a half months, joining Nightwish in the middle of a world tour, in replacing the former female singer. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hoping you'll continue this journey with us, I'll drop here a list of songs with links with the current lineup of the band you may like. @@bradkline5716 I'm something of an iconoclast in this respect but I think this performance in Buenos Aires is better. Sounds more natural, less forced to me. But whatever specific performance you dig, this song is perfect for showcasing the incredible power, range, and flexibility of Floor's voice. She is a once-in-a-generation talent.
For vocal coaches, Floor Jansen is the gift that keeps on giving. All her live performances with Nigthwish from Wacken 2013, Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015 & Buenos Aires 2018 are all fire. Then there are live performances with her previous bands After Forever & ReVamp which are also amazing and to me maybe even more versatile vocally. Then she did a TV show in her home country, the Neatherlands, called Beste Zangers where she sang covers of all styles like pop, aria, musical, etc. and more recently she recorded a solo concert from Amsterdam with killer vocal performances that she all posted for free on her UA-cam channel. And oh yeah, almost forgot she has other covers and vocal masterclasses too on her UA-cam channel. For Nigthwish just follow Gabirel Bardac's posts and you can't go wrong.
Amy Lee is an excellent vocalist for sure but in my opinion Floor Jansen is better. Amy`s voice is almost a bit too clean for my liking, to the point where it lacks warmth. Floors voice does have that warmth and she's certainly more versatile.
Sooooooooooooooooo much talent on that stage! The keyboard player writes, composes and produces all their works! He is genius, they are all world class musicians.
Great reaction! Personally, I would have recommended the official version from Wacken in 2013, which is considered one of their best performances of the song. Gabriel Bardac will most likely comment here soon with a list of recommended performances to react to, if you want to continue to explore Nightwish. He knows what he's talking about, so I would suggest following his advice. :)
Fell in love with her presence and talent, but over the years I've watched her in countless interviews, she is even more amazing than I expected. What a woman, Mother, and Wife. Truly giving human emotions a voice, to express such pain, joy, love, anger, etc from deep within our being.
Your guess is correct. Floor does have classical training. I won't spoil it for you. A little research will reveal how wide of a background Floor has in music. However if you want to hear her sing classical, Floor has sung both phantom of the opera as well as o mio bambino Caro.
A big welcome to the Nightwish Universe - and please do yourself the favor to listen to the Wacken 2013 version. The audio is so much better, and Floor has refined the song significantly!!! And please continue with this journey - you won't regret it - and you will meet The Nightwish Army, a few hundred thousand fans from all over the world, all very keen to help you the best we can. And please ask us whatever you want - some of us knows the answer. You have opened the door to the next level in music. Deep complexed stories, wrapped in poetry and filled with quotes from poets and scientists. Music composed to enhance the story - musicians never overdoing anything or showing off - everything they do is just to enhance the story. And Floor Jansen - you ain't seen nothing yet 😉 😂 She is unique, with breath and voice techniques, and a range and power like no one else. And she is still evolving.... Again - welcome to the Nightwish Universe - from Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 👍 💪 🤘 🤘 🤘
Yeah, Floor always goes with the feel, so there'll never be two exactly same performances, but that Wacken one has to be the epitome of Ghost Love Score. Kinda bittersweet as it might never be done as perfectly again so if you weren't there, tough luck. Of course there are no BAD versions done (or to be expected) and we will always have that recording. Five more nights and it's the first time seeing them live for me (Tampere). Slightly excited maybe... 😜
Nightwish Army Chicago Division. Check out all the songs from Waken Live. This band is amazing. Gabriel is our General. Biggest fan I think. Enjoy your ride to the wonderful world of Nightwish
Hello Bethany. Nightwish Army reporting from the Netherlands. Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish. They are from Finland. And they make Symphonic Metal. What you've heard here is just the tip of what this band can do. Nightwish really hits you in your heart. And that's what makes this band so unique. Her name is Floor Jansen and she is Dutch. I happily refer you to Gabriel Bardac's comment (he'll be here soon) for a list with lots of song suggestion. Watch out for the Nightwish Army.
This one has though that part that only The Vocalyst has appreciated a lot. That line end "quiet of the night" sounds incredible to me, better than in Wacken perhaps to follow more the original (?). The rest is better in Wacken, no surprises there.
Floor is amazing and even more so when you consider she had only been singing with Nightwish for 10 WEEKS when this was recorded and was still officially a guest singer to complete the Imaginarum tour, of course she was asked to become a full member in 2013 along with Troy Donockley (not in this song). You have to take a look at a lot of the list Gabriel has supplied there are some outstanding performances to watch
Floor's first show with Nightwish was Seattle 2012, about 9 months before Wacken. She and Troy were announced as full official members of the band in October 2013. But still, to be this good and have this sort of chemistry after only 9 months when the other members have been playing together for 16-17 years is amazing.
@@amygoodson-catlady Her first concert was October 2nd 2012 and this was recorded December 14th 2012, The Wacken Show was 10 Months after Floor Joined, this is the Buenos Aires 2012 concert
@@billtbodger Thank you!...I am aware. I hit send on the comment b4 realizing it wasn't Wacken. Whether it's weeks or months, for either show...Floor is impressive! Just the nerves alone, but to perform at the level she did... applause!!
Oh what a lovely new face at Nightwish reactions. You seem honest and competent, I like it. If you want to do more reactions to Nightwish and their singer Floor Jansen, that will make me and many others very happy - and often amaze you! Nightwish is something really special!
Hi Beth, in my opinion Floor is one of the best female singers i have ever heard, any genre any song she fits the bill from rock to disney this woman is amazing.
this version live is a 7. live at Wakken is a 10. everything is better. Production, stage, direction and most important performance. thanks for the reaction from Colorado.
Also I love the parts she perfected her growl on by then, in particular the growl she adds to “adoring beast” that’s missing here. Special shout out to the parts she decides to do in chest voice rather than operatic. Here she’s still doing more Tarja version as she’s learning.
Great reaction. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. Welcome to the Nightwish rabbit hole. Nightwish Army U.S.A. 🤘🏽 ( Urban Operators ) in the house.
Great reaction Bethany. I would still recommend watching the Wacken 2013 live performance because you get to see her after having been with the band for over a year and more confident and comfortable singing these songs. You can really tell a difference.
I recommend it too, just one correction. During Wacken 2013, Floor is with the band for 10 months only, not over a year. There is a video compilation here in YT called "the evolution of Ghost Love Score ending" or something like that. It's interesting to see and hear how she came up with it. I think this is the first performance where she actually did it the way we all love and cherish.
Hello from the Netherlands . the singer is Floor Jansen she is our 1m84cm tall Dutch valkery queen. this itself was a bad example of a video because at this performance Florr had problems with her earplugs she couldn't hear herself or the band well. watch the video privately or not : Ghost Love Score Live wacken 2013 this is a live and open air event with 82,000 people attending . - for Opera Floor : Villia song Best singers 2019 before this performance hardly anyone in the Netherlands knew who Floor Jansen was . - for Opera musical : Floor with the Dutch Phantom Henk Poort with The Phantom of the opera Best singers 2019 . - for high, low and a little screaming : Nightwish Yours is an Empty hope live at Wembley arina 2015 . Sincerely, Hollandduck from the Netherlands
Hi Bethany, welcome to the world of Floor Jansen and Nightwish. I see that Gabriel has arrived here. You will get a "Cliff Notes" (well written) from him to give you a comprehensive history of the band. I also encourage you to research some into Floor's solo offerings that can be found on her own UA-cam channel. It always makes my day when I watch a professional voice teacher and singer react to GLS for the first time. Well done!
I am addicted to watch reactions of ghost love score live performances. However you are the first person who watched the correct video. Cuz this one explains how she screams better than anyone in the world.
Hi! Nightwish army Australian division. For more diversity in Floor (we call her a Valkyrie) I would suggest a couple of songs, 'Shoemaker' is a must as well as 'Romanticide'. Honestly you can't go wrong with what ever you choose. The entire band are geniuses. ** Floor also has done some amazing covers, including Phantom of the Opera that you need to see 👀
Hi Bethany , Nightwish Army here, German Division. Greets from Hamburg. It's awsome to see your reaction to this beautifull Band. ^^ And the singer, Floor Jansen ist really the best. Hope come more reaction from this band from you. Thx , you made my day
Good one. people usually do the Wacken 2013 version but this one is great too and good when the crowd chant her name at the end. Try Story Time , Ever Dream, Song Of Myself etc. from Wacken 2013
Great reaction, welcome to the NW rabbit hole! You cannot go wrong with any song from the Wacken 2013 concert. Follow Gabriel's list to get your full dose of this phenomenal band and the entire vocal range and uniqueness of every song. You will not be disappointed and will be pleasantly surprised. Note they are one of the few bands that sound even better live!
please stop telling reactors to follow one persons list, they are not perfect links nor the best venue versions,a reactor should not be lead to rely solely on one person for song recommendations with such a massive fan base on YT, ALL the fans should participate with equal validity .
She is Floor Jansen, First of Her Name, Siren of Sound, Monolith of Metal, our Alabaster Angel of Emotion, she is our Queen, our 6'1" Valkyrie Goddess of music. Long may she reign. Mortal singers sing what they can, Floor sings whatever she wants.
Great performance for sure! Now check out the Wacken 2013 version. THAT one I personally consider the best performance I have ever witnesses anywhere, anytime in my 55+ years on this rock! If you want more Nightwish, check out Gabriel's list and links. Can't go wrong.
This 2. are great too hear why Floor is the best in the world!! NIGHTWISH - Storytime (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) and NIGHTWISH - The Poet And The Pendulum (OFFICIAL LIVE)
trust Gabriel on this . go by his list, they are the perfect links. you have no idea the journey you are in store for, Floor can do it all, your mind will be blown, in my humble opinion she is the best vocalist on the planet.
please stop telling reactors this, they are not perfect links nor the best venue versions,a reactor should not be lead to rely solely on one person for song recommendations with such a massive fan base on YT, ALL the fans should participate with equal validity .
Welcome to Nightwish! Floor Jansen is my favourite vocalist of all time. The lady is a machine!!!! Believe me, you've barely even started. Have a look at Gabriel Bardac's comment for some good background on the band, and some ideas what to react to next. Buckle up tight, because it's going to be one hell of a ride 😉👍
Hi Bethany! Congratulations on your first Floor Jansen and Nightwish review! As a die-hard fan of Floor's, I certainly hope you will be encouraged by the reception you will see here and our enthusiasm with rub off on you and you will continue with many more reactions to Floor's outstanding singing. As dedicated fans however we are in a conundrum as I still cannot figure out how reviewers wind up listening to this version of the GLS song, when virtually all of us would much more prefer reviewers listen to the Wacken version. One key reason is that the audio quality, as well as the photography, came out much better. As a rule for Nightwish, DO NOT rely on what the band calls their "Official Versions" all the time, which may be influenced by commercial or strategic considerations, vs. musical quality or fan acceptance. Gabriel's list is not bad, or go with some of the other recommendations from the "Nightwish Army". Finally, don't forget that Floor has many fine solo performances to review. Top requests include her cover of Lady GaGa's "Shallow", her cover of Lara Fabian's "Adagio", her performance of "Phantom of the Opera" with European operatic tenor Henk Poort on "Beste Zangers". And Floor has just wrapped up singing in a German show called "Sing Meinen Song", which should have her performances available in the next few weeks or so. Floor speaks 5 languages (English, Swedish, Dutch, Finnish and German), so the "Beste Zangers" and "Sing Meinen Song" are not in English, but in Dutch and German, respectfully. But they are great shows for singers to watch, as they really showcase the brilliance and creativity of each of the singers. I'm sure you would love them! Keep well ...
Nightwish Army South Germany Division here Hello The Vocalyst...Welcome to the wonderful world of Symphonic Metal and another welcome as a new recruit to the worldwide Nightwish Army. Floor Jansen (Yansen) is an amazing talent and her stage presence is incredible. Thank you for this wonderful reaction. Please read Gabriel Bardac's extensive comment. He gives some band history and has links to many wonderful live performances. I can't wait to see Nightwish at the Warfield in San Fancisco on May 18th as part of their May 2022 North America Tour.
Hey Teach, nice reaction, thank you. Better late than never ! Welcome to the Nightwish Community. Pretty sure the NW Army will have a request or two, Gabe has already dropped of his information package, I see. Looking forward to your next NW reaction, we will be here to hear your thoughts. Be well. BTW...Congrats on having your first ( of many ) Floorgsm.
Consider that at this concert she had been with the band only 11 weeks, having been flown in mid tour as an emergency replacement. Her previous band ReVamp is a better example of her versatility. ReVamp was her band so she was free to take the music anywhere she wanted. "Disdain" ua-cam.com/video/tIqzPXzhEuw/v-deo.html. This will probably be a better example for your students, though she does let go an F-bomb at the start. ;)
@@TheVocalyst The "F" bomb happens before she starts the song, so you can just start the video after that. Floor has rarely if at all, sworn during a Nightwish video.
@@TheVocalyst So Floor started with After Forever at 16yrs young. After they broke up she formed ReVamp. She has also done a lot of work with Arjen Lucassen's musical projects (Star One & Ayreon mostly). She was on Angels of the Apocalypse by Timo Tolkki's Avalon. She made a more rock than metal album Northward with Jorn Viggo Lofstad. She was on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers 2019 if memory serves her first 4 songs were all in a different language (Shallow, Winner & Phantom of the Opera were particularly good). She also has a UA-cam channel with clips from her recent solo show and many high quality clips made during the lockdown.

Perfect reaction. Welcome to the show. You are going down a beautiful path and be better for it. We will take this journey with you, as we've done with so many who are discovering Nightwish and Floor. See ya on the next reactions. Subbed.
As electric and exciting as this version is, the Wacken version is even more amazing. You owe it to yourself to check that version out too. Great reaction! One of my favorites I've seen for someone new to Nightwish. I love that you got caught up in how much you appreciated what she did with "night" and other vocal color changes she was doing. That's what she does, and you've not seen anything yet! She will continue to impress with her range and how quickly she can change to suit what she wants in pretty much everything she does. She's the most amazing female singer I have ever heard. She makes me tear up on songs I have heard dozens and dozens of times, because I know I am hearing something truly special and I am amazed every time like it is the first. Let's not forget her stage presence either. She is mesmerizing. I hope you continue to explore Nightwish and react to them. I'm subscribing because I think you're going to have an especially wonderful journey hearing more of them (there's also two singers previous to her - she was with the band for 2 months at this performance). I think you'll have a lot of great things to say and will really enjoy it. Storytime and Ever Dream are a couple of my favorites, both from Wacken 2013 (they are almost always better live, and their live performances are better than just about anyone's studio performances) but it's all amazing. Gabriel will fill you in more. :-)
Welcome to the Nightwish's experience There are so Many great songs and performance by the band, and the singers before Floor Jansen I want to suggest you: -everdream (Wacken 2013) And ghost love Score (same show ) You will enjoy your journey With this awesome symphonic metal band
For a great example of progression. This was just one of the first times Floor singing "the note". Check out her Wacken 2013 performance. Which is about 7 months after this one. Floor is a lot more comfortable both in the band and with her changes to this song.
NW Army, western NC Battalion here - reporting in to say brilliantly done! Also, I concur with just about all of the comments below & of course "General" Gabriel's roadmap. I sure hope we get to experience your NW journey - you won't regret it for a second.
This song at Wacken 2013 is probably the best version (since you said you'd listen to it few more times). Another interesting thing is that she performs the ending differently at each concert, on purpose. Before going into flagships like Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth (when you know the band), vocally interesting Nightwish songs are Storytime and Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean.
It was this show i guess, where the guys recognized what an unbelievable treasure they got with her. Dear Bethany, maybe you want to give "Yours is an empty hope" a listen (also Nightwish)? I bet, this one will blow you off your chair completely- because THAT shows how unbelievably wide her spectrum really is ;). No living being to time can top that range, what leads to the conclusion, that this woman is more or less nothing but the best female vocalist on our little blue planet. And we have the absolute honour and privilege to live to the same time!
Great reaction and perspective! I know you'll probably get some comments preferring the Wacken 2013 concert, and I certainly do as well--but it's also really nice to see other versions like this one, with its incredibly passionate and vocal crowd. Looking forward to seeing more--Gabriel's list is a good place to start, but please don't be afraid to jump around to any particular song that catches your eye, including Floor's solo work. They'll never be what you expected after the last, and they'll always be a pleasure.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish and Floor Jansen your only scratching the tiny tip of the iceberg when it comes to the band their singers and of course Floor. Hope to see you react to more of their songs especially for the vocal techniques!
Ok... I'm sold. That was an amazing reaction, with the education to back it. Thank you for listening. And thank thank you for blessing us all with your first experience.
You could consider this to be the dressrehearsal to the wacken one,as this shows the jitters she had, which are gone in the wacken one,in that one she ows it totally.
Well, the Wacken performance we've all seen isn't truly live audio. She certainly hits the notes, but that audio has been retouched so much - if not completely rerecorded in the studio - because it was produced for official release. There couldn't be any imperfections. This one sounds more like a board recording and you actually hear what she sounds like live, imperfections and all.
Welcome to Nightwish rapid hole. If you want to hear Floor uses her voice like an instrument in the band check 10th man down from Buenos Aires concert 2018. Or same concert Devil and the deep dark ocean. Other really good songs are Romanticide(You can hear Marco, the bass player sing too), Ever dream from Wacken 2013, Well to be honest pretty much any concert and any song and you find interesting things she does. Tuomas(keyboard player) founded NW back in 1996 and writes/composes 95% of their songs. Marco did help too. And had some own songs that he made. Before Floor there were Tarja Turunen who was more operatic voice, then Anette Olsson was in NW for few years. But most think that everyone gave band what they needed at the time, now we can enjoy the perfect storm of nand excellence and Floors vocals abilities.
Welcome to the Nightwish family. Nightwish along with our Queen Floor is a journey worth exploring. You will not be disappointed. Greetings from Alabama 😎.
Thank you. You're reaction is why I think lots of us enjoy reaction vids. We get to re live the first time we heard this song.....andcsome of us(me) first time hearing the band!
As others have said, Wacken 2013 performance of this song is a must watch, and Floor Jansen on her own channel, released a video herself talking about the song and that specific performance.
Happy you watched the 2013 Wacken performance. You can hear a few minor flaws in her Buenos Aires performance, but the Wacken delivery is just about perfect, and it is over an hour into the set! Happy to recommend more Nightwish songs for you. They are probably my favorite ban now after discovering them in 2020 thanks to Covid. I truly enjoy your analysis, you seem very authentic, as does Floor and the amazing band Nightwish! Tuomas is an absolute genius. Not everyone appreciates this band. They perform magic on the stage. Music I never knew I needed. The story of Floors life is also beautiful what little I know of it.
Hey and thank you so much for your reaction. The first time I heard this woman and Nightwish I was hooked for life. I am 54 and in Floor's fanclub, never thought I would be in a fanclub in my life, and a Nightwish Army Member from the state of Georgia. Nightwish and Floor have so many amazing songs, and hope you take a journey with them, it is beautiful. I liked and subbed for it.
Floor Jansen the Queen of metal ❤️is a classically trained and a professional voice coach with at least 20 plus years experience and can do anything from death metal growling to high opera notes and different styles and languages, her previous bands After Forever, Northward and Revamp and she was also featured in several Ayreon performances and a Dutch reality show beste zangers in 2019 and 2021, she is married to the drummer of the band Sabaton and has her own UA-cam channel, awesome 😎 you should really check out the 2013 wacken live show same song, better quality. Thanks 😊
@@DrSkeff this is from 2012
@@DrSkeff not only was the band and floor 10/10 at wacken 2013 the camera work was perfect switching between floor and the band I thought 😁
I am still a Tarja fan, and probably I will always be… but Floor belongs in that band
Nightwish Army Canadian Shield division reporting for duty
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer.
So be prepared. lol "
Hoping you'll continue this journey with us, I'll drop here a list of songs with links with the current lineup of the band you may like. @Nightwish Arena: Since most of the reactors end up doing a lot of reactions from Wacken 2013 concert, they should be warned that there are a lot of slowed down and even high pitched versions of this concert, so it is better to use only official videos or videos from this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLexzLA11Cst1G4E0D61rAnWvnDF4zIz8M.html
Last but not the least - they released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg.html (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..)

Welcome to the Army. We live DEEP within the rabbit hole. Don't worry, we'll leave a light on.
Floor is so great you can react to the 2013 Wacken version tomorrow and no one will mind.
Yeah this is not even the best version
Wacken was way better i think
@@bradkline5716 I'm something of an iconoclast in this respect but I think this performance in Buenos Aires is better. Sounds more natural, less forced to me. But whatever specific performance you dig, this song is perfect for showcasing the incredible power, range, and flexibility of Floor's voice. She is a once-in-a-generation talent.
Yes, react to that one❤
Floor is the most flexible female singer of the last 20 years

Welcome to the world of Floorgasms! You just awoke the Nightwish army! Loved you reaction!
Never heard a better female voice in my life. Floor is incredible. Amy Lee is incredible but Floor is insane.
Nancy Wilson, Amy Lee, Lizzy Hale are all remarkable - Floor stands a half step above in her own category.
Amy Lee is an excellent vocalist for sure but in my opinion Floor Jansen is better. Amy`s voice is almost a bit too clean for my liking, to the point where it lacks warmth. Floors voice does have that warmth and she's certainly more versatile.
This is what Symphonic Metal is all about: great composition and strong music with powerful lyrics
I love the crowd vocalising along with the guitar solo
Sooooooooooooooooo much talent on that stage! The keyboard player writes, composes and produces all their works! He is genius, they are all world class musicians.
Great reaction! Personally, I would have recommended the official version from Wacken in 2013, which is considered one of their best performances of the song. Gabriel Bardac will most likely comment here soon with a list of recommended performances to react to, if you want to continue to explore Nightwish. He knows what he's talking about, so I would suggest following his advice. :)
Concur
Concur.

Yep, whilst this is great, Floor was just a few weeks into the band here, at Wacken She had months to get it perfect, and boy was it perfect.
@@AlvenmodFoto It truly was.
They did a show in Toronto 2 days ago and also played Ghost Love Score where she held the last note in F5 for 15 seconds 😱🤗
I only found Nightwish in June, a month after they left. I was sooo bummed I had just missed this group!
Can You please upload a Video if is Possible?!
And Floor Jansen - you ain't seen nothing yet 😉 😂
She is unique, with breath and voice techniques, and a range and power like no one else.
YMMV - for me this is the best possible version of the song.

This one has though that part that only The Vocalyst has appreciated a lot. That line end "quiet of the night" sounds incredible to me, better than in Wacken perhaps to follow more the original (?). The rest is better in Wacken, no surprises there.
Welcome to your Nightwish journey. You have just scratched the surface. Nightwish Army Denver reporting for duty.
Floor was with the band for 10 months at this taping.
So sorry, my mistake...I thought she was watching the Wacken show!
Floor's first show with Nightwish was Seattle 2012, about 9 months before Wacken. She and Troy were announced as full official members of the band in October 2013. But still, to be this good and have this sort of chemistry after only 9 months when the other members have been playing together for 16-17 years is amazing.

Yes the wachen version is better. Also Floors chant on the stage is awesome
Also I love the parts she perfected her growl on by then, in particular the growl she adds to “adoring beast” that’s missing here. Special shout out to the parts she decides to do in chest voice rather than operatic. Here she’s still doing more Tarja version as she’s learning.
I think both are definitely comparable. And this version has something special that the second one hasn't. Emppu's out-of-body experience in 15:07.
Thanks, welcome to Nightwish, greetings from Colombia
Great reaction Bethany. I would still recommend watching the Wacken 2013 live performance because you get to see her after having been with the band for over a year and more confident and comfortable singing these songs. You can really tell a difference.
I recommend it too, just one correction. During Wacken 2013, Floor is with the band for 10 months only, not over a year. There is a video compilation here in YT called "the evolution of Ghost Love Score ending" or something like that. It's interesting to see and hear how she came up with it. I think this is the first performance where she actually did it the way we all love and cherish.
PLEASE
Never too late to join this party. And the best part is that you were invited. Enjoy.
A big smile the whole song!! Wonderful. Fantastic reaction. Nightwish and Floor Jansen is masterclass and beyond. Thanks for this fun reaction. ❤

Well done!
"I see that Gabriel has arrived here", ngl that cracked me up lmao, you guys are fucking heroes xD
I love the ending here, I get emotional for her. And Emppu with the floorgasm :)
I love the audience chant "Floor, Floor, Floor" at the end
Finally! A vocal coach that doesn't stop every 5 seconds and telling a rockstar HOW they should sing! You will find Floor is the best!

Note they are one of the few bands that sound even better live!
please stop telling reactors to follow one persons list, they are not perfect links nor the best venue versions,a reactor should not be lead to rely solely on one person for song recommendations with such a massive fan base on YT, ALL the fans should participate with equal validity .
here from Atl, GA for what is a deep rabbit hole dive! cheers!!
I've watched it a thousand times and I'm still soaking it up!
NIGHTWISH - Storytime (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) and NIGHTWISH - The Poet And The Pendulum (OFFICIAL LIVE)
you're ready for the journey through the rabbithole..enjoy, we will follow. greets from the Nightwish Army in the Netherlands...
She: "I don't know what's gonna happen"
Me: The valkyrie is gonna be unleashed 😅
There are *_25_* meter changes in the introduction alone. And 4 key changes before a word is even sung.
trust Gabriel on this . go by his list, they are the perfect links. you have no idea the journey you are in store for, Floor can do it all, your mind will be blown, in my humble opinion she is the best vocalist on the planet.
please stop telling reactors this, they are not perfect links nor the best venue versions,a reactor should not be lead to rely solely on one person for song recommendations with such a massive fan base on YT, ALL the fans should participate with equal validity .
👏👏👍Welcome to the Nightwish Army 😁❤️Nightwish and ❤️Floor !
She has a range unexplained so beautiful and you got Flooor gasimed
The Wacken version elicits tears!
Nightwish Army South Germany Division here
Hello The Vocalyst...Welcome to the wonderful world of Symphonic Metal and another welcome as a new recruit to the worldwide Nightwish Army. You've just seen and heard her, who is named by her fans worldwide in the sum of her honorifics in dozens of React videos:
This is Our Majesty Floor Jansen, First of her Name, Goddess of the Valkyrs, Highly Queen of the Vikings, Lady of Nightwish, the House Band of the Gods of Asgard, Protector of our Metal Realm
Long may she reign
There is nothing more to say about this
Greetings from Germany
the lady
Floor Jansen (Yansen) is an amazing talent and her stage presence is incredible. Thank you for this wonderful reaction. Please read Gabriel Bardac's extensive comment. He gives some band history and has links to many wonderful live performances. I can't wait to see Nightwish at the Warfield in San Fancisco on May 18th as part of their May 2022 North America Tour.
Wow! Amazing smile! So infectious because it doesn’t look forced!
Enjoy your journey, this band is like no other.
Floor was in her sisters wedding in Netherland when she got call. We are on world tour could you please learn set list and come to Seattle in 48 hours. She did it.
@@TheVocalyst her 1st band AfterForever has much better displays of her vocal talents & versatility.

@@ilkkak3065 She said she was in the middle of Irene's wedding, and could she call them back. I always have wondered how she kept her mind on the wedding during that time.
Nightwish Iowa here. Welcome to Nightwish. I can see the adoration in your face, and I'm just so glad you have started on the Nightwish journey.
Perfect reaction. Welcome to the show. You are going down a beautiful path and be better for it. We will take this journey with you, as we've done with so many who are discovering Nightwish and Floor. See ya on the next reactions. Subbed.
That was a floorgasme at the end 😄😄😄 welcome to the wonderfull world of nightwish and floor jansen you have a lot to discover
wacken is a lot more polished , sound engineering wise and floor's vocal wise.
I could feel your excitement! Enjoy the great music to come!
Welcome to the Nightwish's experience
There are so Many great songs and performance by the band, and the singers before Floor Jansen
I want to suggest you:
-everdream
(Wacken 2013)
And ghost love Score (same show )
You will enjoy your journey
With this awesome symphonic metal band
Nightwish Army reporting from the Bulgaria. 👍👌🤘✌☝
Honestly, the „first time ever“ reactions are just so nice.
that's what floor does to you, a constant smile on your face.🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶
Years ago i knew one of the best powermetal band named Nightwish. And the lead vocalist of this band was Tarja.
Well that was enjoyable to a fantastic band. More please.
Great reaction, your smile is infectious. You will have a blast watching this extremely diverse band. Can't wait to see more from you 🙂
Welcome to NIGHTWISH..... you've just found a rabbit hole that will be difficult to ignore.....enjoy your journey! 🤯👍
Welcome to the Nightwish Army! The word you are searching for is "Floorgasm", and they are amazing!
That's a concert in Buenos Aires, one of the best audiences ever!!!
I believe this is the performance where she had a cold and still killed it.
As others have said, Wacken 2013 performance of this song is a must watch, and Floor Jansen on her own channel, released a video herself talking about the song and that specific performance.
Definitely a Floorgasm was had today! Welcome to Nightwish and Floor Jansen!
Nightwish Phantom of the Opera with Tara should be your next stop - it is also mindblowing
Need to go straight to Shoemaker to hear Floor''s opera chops!
Now you must keep diving into the world that is nightwish. Welcome to the club.
Nightwish Army UK popping in for a great reaction, Follow Gabriel the general and you will not go far wrong.
Thanks 😊
The Greatest Show on Earth, also by Nightwish. Mindblowing
Floors singing and your smile is so far my favorite combination in whole "reaction community". 😄
