Floor is a hughe fan from Henk since she has seen him performing the phantom as a teen. They never meet till to thisweek for this show. The first episode was for Henk, so all have to sing something for him. Floor, mostly unknow in her homecountry, because they aren't much in metal, even they got 5 of the best voices for that genre... has started with Vilja Lied, check that out.
Btw. Henk have learned the distorsion that he brought in for Floor as a surprise Gift for her !
After that he was invited to her solo tour and they became good friends. Another colab is Dangerous Games from the musical Jekyll & Hyde
You can tell Hank is loving every second of it and it's as if he is discovering how talented Floor is and you see him pushing her more and more as the song moves along...and its simply Brilliant...
And since they did rehearsals, that's all acting. It's just an amazing performance, because that is what you're supposed to see in the song. That's the song. And he communicates that (she does as well!)
Even like the way she makes "back" sound timid and nervous, it's amazing.
I'm obsessed with this duet. Floor fangirling over singing with Henk is awesome.
I heard that Henk is Andrew Lloyd Webber's personal favorite Phantom. Also this was apparently a bit of a dream come true for Floor as she's been a fan of Henk since she was young and saw him as the Phantom

Henk Poort is a fully trained Opera Baritone singer who has been aked alot for musicals to do parts originally done by tenors but of course it is in his range. He is the originaldutch "Phantom" and became Floor's Idol when she was young listening to him sing. You should hear his rendition of "Vivo Per Lei" same show or his rendition of Disturb's rendition of "The Sound Of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel. 🎶🎶

Henk practiced with using distortion in his voice especially for Floor. He's used it more in his version of the "Sound of Silence", that he sang on the same show for Floor.
He also did an amazing duet in Andrea Boccelli's "Vivo per Lei" with Emma Heesters. I really advise you to check it out, because it's so special!

Mr Henk Poort was once the Phantom on stage and has a LARGE resume and skillset, a truly talented man.
Now you need to check out the Nightwish version of this song. Not to compare Floor with Tarja but because Marco is the secret best Phantom! 😁

Is it hard to say something nice about Floor and Henk (very famous opera bariton Marko made an awesome different phantom. But sorry, Henk was the best phantom, even Webber found the best.
@@monicacarolina6480 Relax. Recommending another version of this song that is also great is not disrespecting this one. I even mentioned Henk being Webber's personal favorite in another comment. I love this version and I was just making a tongue in cheek compliment to Marko. Obviously that is just one song from the musical and can't be compared to singing and acting the entire thing. But it is a really interesting different take on the Phantom and Marko is a great singer with an amazing voice so it is interesting to check out.

That night was the Night of Duets. They sang beautifully all singers, but… these two, literally broke the Internet. It was off the charts. The other singers were thinking: Thanks Lord that this is not a competition, otherwise we would be fighting for the second place.

Floor graduated from the Rock Academy in Tilburg,The Netherlands, and had
additional two years part-time training in musical and opera/operette.
So not a full classical conservatory training.
Congratulations, never too late to find this. Legions of Nightwish fans started following this show as the season progressed, and this was the final performance in the season. It's been said that it broke the internet.
Part of why why Floor chose this duet for the show was that when a Dutch rendition of Phantom of the Opera first toured in the 80s or 90s, it was Henk Poort who played the phantom. The rock grit he adds here is something really different from his usual styling. When you get a chance, it's definitely worth checking out more from this show (Beste Zangers). There were some real gems from all that involved. And Floor especially... She really blew a lot of minds with her versatility. Might be fun to contrast her rendition of Shallow to one of Lady Gaga's. ( I consider Lady Gaga one of the more talented musicians and vocalists on the pop scene but Floor's mastery of phrasing and dynamics is on a whole different level.)

For me this is the Duet of the Century. Excellent singing and acting chemistry from those two seasoned professionals. ⛄👍
Floor has done a series of concerts in the Netherlands, where Henk Poort , was a guest. And they do another duet together, this time a song Floor had from her time in another band before Nightwish.
In the same show "Beste Zangers 2019" (= best singers), Floor's first cover was especially for Henk Poort, whom she admired since she was a young girl. The song was the "Vilja-lied" (Vilja song) in German, from "Die Lustige Witwe" (the Merry Wodow), an operette from Franz Léhar. You should check this out. It was the first time the Dutch TV viewers saw her and she gave it her own 'rocky' stile, using all her technicus skills as an incredible versatile vocalist.

Love Floor! Glad to see you return to seeing what else she can do. I hope you return to checking out some more from Nightwish. I'd especially be interested in seeing what you thought of Everdream, Storytime, Romanticide and others, as sung by Floor. I'm sure Gabriel sent you a list of songs to check out in your Ghost Love Score reaction, but I might suggest a slight segue to check out Tarja with Nightwish doing Phantom of the Opera from 2005, maybe as a point of comparison and a brief intro to Nightwish's first singer. Enjoyed the reaction by the way!

The Beste Zangers show is about celebrating music and singing, and both Floor and Henk went into the version of the Phantom to have fun. To my ear Floor is quite purposefully exaggerating some of the widenings of the mouth shape, I think for a bit of a mischievous interpretation. And Henk coming in for the second half with the vocal fry is unexpected and refreshing.
About the stage show, they both have the moves. Floor towering over Henk, one would guess the Phantom would seem less powerful than intended, but Henk makes up for all of it with very good acting (specially the bit when he steps right into Floor's personal space to deliver the line "inside your mind"). As a contrast Floor acts as a girl both haunted by the Phantom, and as I see it falling in love with him, with those direct eye contact moments with a shy smile and the call to a dance gestures.
I'd say you'd love a duo reaction for How's the Heart. One the official music video, then the accoustic version at Planet Rock.

I heard that Floor taught Henk heavy distortion for this song and this was the first performance.

Nightwish did a cover of Phantom of the Opera. Check out the video of the End of an Era show. Marco sings the part of the Phantom, Tarja was the Nightwish vocalist at the time and sings Christine. If you want more Marco, highly recommended.
This show is so great, I'm watching again this year because Anneke van Giersbergen is on.
When Henk sings "inside your mind" and Floor moves slowly down, that moment seems so intimate, like he actually has a sort of hypnotic effect on her, she plays with the flirtation and a sense of fear while he's just menacing, Henk is amazing as The Phantom
PS: love the fact that nobody expected that raspy side of Henk lol and Floors looks so proud of him for letting his rocker side out
They sound so good! I’ve seen this so many times and it’s just better and better. I also love his version of Sound of Silence. And Floor, well Floor is Floor! She sings amazing all the time. Never disappoints. I absolutely love her singing ❤️🎤

Try listening to the Nightwish version of Phantom Of The Opera, but its not Floor its Tarja and Marco from an eirlier line up.

This is the first time Henk ever sang with distortion in his whole life to surprise Floor for her week in the show because she is a Metal singer. He did Sound of Silence & this one with a bit of distortion.
Don't forget to delve into more of Floor's songs. Some of them are classical Christmas carols.

They should do the Ziggo dome show this November together.
He did join Floor at her solo show at Paaspop, a Dutch festival, and actually growled there, instead of using distortion.
And he was in all of Floor her solo shows.
And since Floor is both solo and with Nightwish on Pinkpop, this summer, I really hope Henk will join her with Nightwish then.
Since I have tickets for that festival...
In order to understand what Hank is doing with the "gritiness", you NEED to see the Nightwish version, even though you won't see Floor but their first singer, Tarja (pronounced Tar-yah). But even though you WILL be impressed by Tarja, I bet you'll be more surprised by Marco. :)

Henk actually ended up performing the duet with Floor during a Nightwish-concert. He put on Jeans and a T-Shirt for the occasion and you can tell that he's out of his element^^

This show was beautiful to watch. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend watching Floor's performances- Vilja lied, Winner, Qué Se Siente and About Love I Don't Know A Thing are my favorites.
Also I don't know what is in the water over there, but there are so many great singers in Denmark.

You need to listen to her version of Shallow, by Lady GaGa, also on this season of Beste Zangers, it's a complete masterpiece.

Now you need to listen to Floor's other performances from this show. Only Tim Akkerman had heard about her before this show. She was not well known in The Netherlands before this show since they are not real big on metal bands. Floor started the season off with Villa Lied sung in German. She made it more of a rock song for Henk Poort because his mother use to sing it to him as a lullaby. Very good duet
Heck did the song after Floor promised that he could sing with Nightwish. They had to wait until COVID was over to make it happen. It's one you should check out, you won't be disappointed, even if you don't do it as a reaction.

Just one littel thing that's mostly forgotten or ignored (or just no known by many...): The Phantom of the Opera is, although it's missleading title, not an Opera, it is a Musical and as you mentioned in your reaction, the role of Christine is a young Women. So when you listen to this piece, always keep in mind that this is not supposed to sound like an operatic aria although this specific song has a pretty uncommonly high tone at the end which makes this pretty hard to find the right cast for, I belive it's not sung live most of the shows because most typical musical singers won't be able to sing this, I belive it's an E6, 2 times a day over several weeks. Even Floor did not sang it in this video, I think she's singing it one step lower D6 however, I think her range goes all the way up to F6 so this was more a musical decision rather than a "physical" limitation I think.

it is a bit of a pity for the clarity of the story of Floor and Henk together in the Show Dear singers 2019 that you now start with the end of the show series, namely the duets episode where this is a part of.
the Show Best singers 2019 starts with the evening of DE Henk Poort .
Henk Poort was THE Dutch Phantom from 1993 to 1996 .
Floor Jansen sang an Opera arina in the first episode for Henk : Vilia song.
this was the show's first performance and thus the kickoff of the show's 2019 season.
Before this first appearance in the Show, hardly anyone in the Netherlands knew who Floor Jansen was !
not even her fellow singers on the benches !

By the way , Henk learned how to sing with distortion in 24 hours , especially for Floor to sing a song for Floor in episode 4 : the Sound of Silence .

Alright, Floor is the best thing happening to Nightwish in many years. Too bad she's the late bloom of Tarja, but came in at the cost of Marco also. I know there are many reactions to Phantom of the Opera, and you've probably listened to it already, but I'd still like to hear what you think about the Tarja / Marco duet.
For me Floor and Henk took POTO to a whole new level, watching Floor flirting with Henk is magical, Henk did actually practice singing with a lot of Fry to impress Floor, he is a classical singer and it is not considered good practice to use grit and fry, Henk is perfect as the Phantom to Floors Christine
