Great piece of equipment. I use it for deads, rows, RDL'S, farmers walks, shrugs, etc. I like to alternate between conventional deadlift and trap bar deads. I allows for extra volume without the lower back fatigue. Also, rows with it really hit the lats and provide a unique stimulus.
Trap bar deadlifts are so much more comfortable being 6’3”. Also feels much better on my knee that I had a full ACL replacement and all 4 meniscus repaired. I blew it out hyperextending during a rugby match in college. Used part of my quad muscle for the replacement. Had 3 people land on the front of my knee during a tackle and just demolished it. Due to that I also use the low handles and high weight in a quad dominant stance as a substitute for squat. As deep squats with high weight really agitate my bad knee. Great piece of equipment.
As someone who does mainly calisthenics and resistance bands, trap bar dead lifting is my only real weightlifting movement. I like it for the overall strength gains and the fact that it's a great posterior chain exercise allows me to work my back while giving my elbows a rest from pull-ups and inverted rows, and I can make it more back dominant or leg dominant just by changing my position a little bit.
I love the trap bar. I am 45 and I had a total hip replacement 10 years ago. I had it worn due to a femur acetabular impigement I was not aware of, after many years of muay thai. Now I feel comfortable with the trap bar and enjoy it a lot
I find that with the high handles trap bar I am 10% stronger than my conventional barbell deadlift. With the low handles I’m actually about 10% WEAKER than on the barbell.
45 years old next week. Stopped using straight bar for deads and have incorporated heavy carries. I bought mine from Dicks sporting goods for I think 125 usd. It weighs 60 pounds and I swear by it
I’ve tried various exercises with trap bars and the only lift I actually like using them for is shrugs. Not enough to justify for a home gym with limited space IMO, but no shade toward anyone that enjoys other lifts with them.
What strength training programs or forms of it do you recommend for infantry / military training? Enough to gain strength, but not be too fatigued or broken for conditioning/endurance training?
@@TheStrengthClassroom I'd like this too. I do mountain ultra marathons and mountain biking but still want to strength train. At least to look good in your t shirt on the start line if nothing else. 😶
I am 188cm, long femurs, long torso and short arms and really struggle with deadlifting. Have a shagged hipjoint and alot of osteo in lower spine and facet joints, trap bar helps alot
Why do it then? You don't have to deadlift, there's a lot of other exercises you can do which do a lot more good than deadlifts. Try them for a while, you will see it's not worth to risk your health when there are better options, much better options. I do weightlifting to improve my health, not to injure myself.
@@DavidStacey-tx7on yes, I also enjoyed it, but I had to stop doing it regularly because it was doing more harm than good. I still do it from time to time, but after a while you realize you don’t have to do it to increase your strength.
1:29 Bro I closed this presentation and hit DO NOT RECOMMEND CHANNEL when i saw that booty shot and moose knuckle shot... Clearly I am not your target audience
You're right that you can still injure yourself with a trap bar cause I've done that. Once I focused on proper setup and technique, I've been enjoying using it

I agree with the part about barbell rows.
Had both knees replaced and find the trap bar much easier than a straight bar for keeping good mechanics
NICE!

Damn sorry to hear about your injury that sounds brutal

Exactly. Everyone thinks there is just one way to use the trap bar (high handles, quad dominant)

Awesome to hear!
Love my trap , I too change from straight bar to trap dead lift stay 💪🏽
Nice!
I do power shrugs with them, aligns better with the traps.
I love them
I would agree with that

I agree the low handles seem harder than a straight bar for some reason
I love the trap bar deadlift
As do I

They are good for shrugs imo. I love trap bar deadlifts. I think the wider neutral grip really agrees with my anatomy.
I am 60 years old and I have a trap bar for deadlifts and is better and safer.I can lift up to 255 lbs with no back issues.
Awesome!
I've never used one. But thought about getting one for the backyard and doing a bunch of concentric-only training.
What type of training would you do in the backyard
@TheStrengthClassroom trap bar deadlifts, and dropping it after each rep

I will get back to you on this one. Is this a video you would like seeing made?

Awesome different bars can help work around things.

Yep
Take ur ego out- the trap bar is the best safest way to deadlift plus the movement does translate to sports… conventional does not
I agree for sure
it's not listed for 73% off
I bought it on their canada day sale
Trap bar feels so ackward to me it feel unnatural I dunno
I guess it'd not for everyone
Hey bud some of those skin tight leggings you should probably only wear in front of your wife 😂
Why is that?
