In this video I am building the greatest piece of furniture I’ve ever built, the Cece Rocking Chair. This chair was designed, built, and named for my new niece, Cecelia. It is made with Beech hardwood, and love. We also created long form video plans that can be purchased on our website, so go check that out if you want to build one of these for yourself, or any of our other projects. This build utilized plenty of interesting techniques including template routing, part tapering, domino connecting, and a lot of rocking good times.

Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.
Why didn't you show the chair rocking? Apparently I'm the only one that wanted to see that. 😑
No fking way the dont show that
Because it sucks to use I’ll bet you
The chair is beautiful, tying the armrest into the rocker is fantastic. I really love the storyboard and interactions you throw in on top of the covering the woodworking.
Damn. That intro though. They had us in the first half, not gonna lie.
Haha! We had fun making that one.
haha, i was like, "Damn, Chris is laying on the love!"
Okay, good, I'm not the only one thinking, "Uh, what the hell is happening here?" It was good laugh.
Totally agree with you 😀
Brilliant, this design rocks.
Nice
Hiyo! Thanks!
You're god damn right it does.
Did no one pick up on the pun?!
A. 2. and D.
MAN, I LOVE YOU!! Great Home Alone reference! :)
Haha, glad you caught it. Thanks Joe!
@@shaunb66 Loved it! on 2 i was like... "didn't he say A?"
I say/write the same combos, but never thought to skip one. Definitely going to irritate the wife with this :-)
Shaun Boyd - Foureyes - Actually kind of expected that kind of humor from one so decorous!
Also a National Lampoons Vacation reference. Love it!
I really enjoyed the discussion of the different design decisions that went into the piece instead of just the instructional way to be able to build this specific thing. Hoping for more of that in the future!
Glad to hear that! Thanks Matt!
I just gave to tell you both that I don't build, but I love watching your channel(s)! As a freelance art teacher, I can appreciate how difficult it can be to create instructions and complete packages and projects that function for the masses. BRAVO!
and nice shoes!
This is a masterpiece guys. Everything's perfect: the story, the project, the woodworking, the editing.
Thank you! Really appreciate that!
Silliness aside, the design of the chair is freaking awesome. And honestly there's something about it that feels like it has more sentimental meaning to it than your other builds.
That's a Beautiful Chair.
I just discovered your channel and I am obsessed! As a beginner woodworker, this is so inspirational! Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you! Glad you found us.
Your furniture and content are equally amazing!
Thank you!
You literally had me laughing out loud at the intro. I had to stop the video so I can say this. OK, back to the build…
Haha! That is what we were going for!
It's not a rocking chair, till you rock in it.
But it's still a nice chair and a nice shoes.
I have literally been wanting to start a channel for almost 5 years! I wanted everything to be perfect and I think that was the issue that was stopping me. Then I thought who cares, lets go. Great info😁😀
Shaun (and others), i'm still kind of a beginner, so i just have to say that the process you demonstrate around 9:35 (and shortly before and after) was SO helpful! i think i first saw you do this in an old video on your original channel. anyway, i recently built my first bed frame and used this method to taper each of the four posts. it was easy, gave me perfectly repeated cuts, and felt safe! thanks for teaching me! and great job on this rocker -- as a father of two, i know just how important this kind of furniture is during those first months.
Isn't that awesome? when you learn a new tip that makes a task that seems daunting actually easy and achievable, it's so rewarding.
Really happy to hear that! That is really what we are hoping to do with the videos and plans. Yes, building a specific piece of furniture is great, but more than that it is the techniques and procedures that can be used on other projects that is really valuable. I know that stuff was for me when I was getting started!
A, 2, D. I like the way you count, my friend.
“A, 2, and D” hahaha! Y’all have a brand of humor that speaks to my soul. Also, your furniture, videos, teaching is amazing.
Firstly, I learned my lesson and hit the bell icon.
Secondly, I just sat on a rocking bench during vacation and loved it 😂
Guess im getting old...
Awesome build! Looks absolutely amazing and it's great that you're able to build something that means so much to you!
Really appreciate that! Thanks!
That intro. You guys are perfect comedians. :D
I love the way you guys add humor in every video. God bless you all!
It's retro-moderne. Really like it's nostalgic aspect... like something from the Great Gatsby. Top shelf stuff.
Мужик, это гениально! Супер кресло!
Оборудование мастерской на высшем уровне! 👍
This is a very smart design
I would love to see a video of the designing process
7:54 Businesses? I think you meant busini.
I think you might be right, I knew it sounded weird!
Pretty sure it’s businii.
@Mark Hesseltine for the win!
So beautifull
What a beautiful chair Shaun. Great craftsmanship and design. Cecilia is a very lucky niece because her uncle is amazing. Have I piled it on enough????? You both are rockstars in my book.
Thanks for sharing. Felix
20 STARS ON THAT INTRO GUYS!! That was authentic and not mind numbing like most...and OF COURSE...another great vid and QUALITY JOB on your project!
Sense of humor between these two >>>>>>>
I would love to see you guys design and build a mid century modern style couch!
This is great, I should try to make one.
I'll take two!
Is the whole seat attached by just the two screws on the back? Because these better be some mighty screws. May have been an idea to use bigger bolts with threaded inserts.
That modern rocking chair looks incredibly retro.
Crazy sick
Shaun always kills it.
I certainly try! Thanks, man!
Don’t listen to him, Shaun. You’re shoes are fine.
Chris does have the shoes game won but I can't wait for the beard fashion to time out. (Nothing to do with not being able to grow a beard myself ...much)
He makes you a better man.
I love this channel.
cutest couple
😂😂
A, 2, and D. The shaun boyd number system
Late to the party, as usual, but just watched the intro and sprayed Shiraz all over my iPad due to explosive laughter! Next time, how about a safety warning?? 😀
First of all, you guys are one of the best duos of all time. You guys are super charismatic. Second, this chair is definitely an art gallery piece. It's just insanely beautiful, and one of those objects which you just can't decide the best angle. Bravo.
Really appreciate that, Alexandre! Thanks for watching!
@@shaunb66 I really mean it. Although I'm sorry to say, but his beard IS better than yours used to be. 😁
This is gorgeous
Gentlemen . . . you Maloof'd this one. Outstanding.
Good job bro thanks
Gold. Out-freakin'-standing. Loved the intro and outro.
Great chair, Shaun. It definitely has a special meaning. How many takes for the pitch and catch scenes? You guys stay safe. Bill
Really appreciate that, Bill! We are actually getting pretty good at those blind throws, so it only took a few tries this time.
You're looking at the next Harlem Globetrotters
New fan here from the city down under -Manila 😃
That is way better than cool!
Thank you. Thank intro really made me laugh just when I needed it. The video gave me the inspiration to start designing a peice that’s always been lurking in the back of my mid. Thanks again!
Awesome, glad to hear that! Good luck with it!
The first minute of this video made me actually laugh out loud, so thanks. I needed to smile today 😔
Beautiful design
These plans are game-changers. You both are killing it with these designs. Thanks for putting out this type of content!
I would have told anyone you used a C&C machine that is just how perfect it is! I almost didn’t watch the video because I was like “I don’t have the big machine doe I couldn’t even think about it!” 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 BRAVA!
Really appreciate it! Thank you!
Proportions ore perfect! Mid century modern, good call! Always looks great 🎉
Love the design and your guy’s humor. It’s pretty cool you guys work together now. Keep it up.
Humour and design. Love it!
What kind of a commercial is that ?? I like it.
Wondurful
Great project as usual. Little Cecelia will be proud.
Mr SBMT rocks 👍👍👍👍

Absolutely fantastic
Guys I love the look of this chair, and I know it was built with comfort in mind, but is it comfortable?
Stunning. Wow
You are very good brother’s ✋👍
Stunning piece! This might be in my future. Thanks for sharing, cheers from BC!
Looks great. And they way you two interact is awesome.
Hahahaha, I was wondering where the beginning was going and was not disappointed - now, back to the video!
Beautiful rocking chair. Love the outside- of- box thinking.
You boys going up
🙌👍
A2D, the classic McCallister numbering scheme.
Chris & Shaun, I've always enjoyed your individual channels and have even noticed design similarities; however, the two of you together produce the content I enjoy the most. I wish you both all the best.
Really happy to hear that! Thanks Daniel!
You guys RAWK, plain and simple!
Great into !!! Total BROmance !!!
Too good for any words...its rockin
You guys are very enjoyable to watch
Absolute beaut🍻
Remarkably elegant, my guys!
Beautiful, elegant and above all fresh. Contours through meters? Glorious. Who would’ve thunk it? Why, Boyd of course. Chock full of original thought, brother. Best Boyd design to date. Bravo!
Really appreciate that! This was a fun one to come up with. Thanks!
That’s a piece of art!
👍Thanks for sharing knowledge,
I like this project bro. 💝💝💝
Thicknii! Love it
Haha! Thanks!
that looks aero dynamic
You two work so well together and keep me entertained. Thank you
Thanks for watching, Eric!
I liked the design... Will try my own techniques... BTW you love too much machine work!
I’m a subscriber and I love the shape of the seat on your chair !!! If I knew the dims. Of just the rocker thing on each side pointed in back, just the length at the longest point and the tallest height I could figure it out. Looks like you wouldn’t care to take a pencil and mark down the entire template for them !!!!! But I can do with just the height and length if possible….. thx.
Stunning !
beautiful love that idea
Hey guys, thanks for the sweet videos! Why is it you use the tablesaw to make the joint cuts rather than relying on the router template?
Very nice
Love it... Beautiful design!
Make a classic desk as in the old days
Love watching the both of you working together lol love seeing all the cool this you both make keep it up from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks! Glad to hear that!
