Agreed, I just tried the Alpha version and went with a boarding strategy. Compared to FTL, the added layers of customizations such as weapons, armor, etc make boarding as it is now REALLY strong. It is a little bit balanced out by the healing system being limited, but you can make up for that with spells. There's everything from healing spells to summoning spells to buffing spells etc. Also unlike FTL there's no crew limit, so you can drown your enemies in waves of bodies easily.
This is not "inspired", this is plagiarism... And I say that as someone avidly defending Palworld vs Nintendo. It's not just the same gameplay, it's identical UI elements, layouts, even down to many of the icons...

Loving the game. Fantastic companion to FTL. The “ripoff” talk is so lame to me. It’s a 12 year old game only supported by Modders. I tried out reclaim the sea (pirate FTL) and much prefer this (though RTS is fine), RTS felt a bit clunky but it’s gotten way more advertising and coverage on UA-cam. I’m hoping this game gets its flowers
I have high hopes but I sincerely hope to see bunch of factions with very different playstyles. I would be thoroughly disappointed if I don't see Chaos undivided and dedicated ships to each of Chaos Gods, with different playstyles. Since mind control wasn't seen so far, I'd think such mechanic would be core for Slaanesh demons, with Khorne ones being good at combat, Nurgle ones being immune to bunch of stuff and lots of HP and Tzeetch ones having like 2-3 slots for spells just slinging. Now that I say it, it's probably best to put it in Chaos undivided, since they so neatly occupy different roles akin to humans we've seen so far, and development time should be dedicated to other factions as well. But if this is all we see from demons, just supplement for auto drones from FTL and basic enemies, it's going to be a doo doo game mark my words. My hopes are high though.
I do understand the rip-off talk though. When I first saw this game I thought it was a FTL mod. Hell, if you told me it was FTL2 I would believe you. I'm gonna buy it if it comes out on Steam, cause FTL and 40k is a dream come true, but I don't blame people for calling it a rip-off. I feel like the devs could have done a lot more to make it not look like an FTL rip-off too.
@@MrMrtvozornik Well, the game clearly is heavily inspired by 40k, but it is not actually a 40k game. I would honestly much prefer if they take the grimdark but build their own universe with it. It seemed like most of the ships he was fighting couldnt really hurt him since he got lvl 3 shields pretty quickly. There don't seem to be a lot of missile weapons
True the ships are too small for 40k standards where a frigate is a kilometer long battleship that could easily pass as a capital ship in any other setting. Someone might mod the game to make bigger ships and have them hold more crews but for now the game is just an updated and reskin of FTL.
Boarding was always the best option in FTL because it gives you more resources than destroying enemies. I wonder if this game discriminates shooty solution as well.
