It's very on the nose, but honestly considering how long it's been since ftl released, i have a pretty high tolerance for gameplay related yoinks. On full release, i would definitely like to see it lean even farther into the grimdark aesthetic, and maybe add in a couple more unique systems. Been too long since a game like ftl was released that lived up to it's predecessor, so at this point im fine with a carbon copy as long as it's good. Definitely gonna be adding this to my wishlist.
It at least needs a mechanic where one guy is wired into the ship as a pilot, hopefully "integrating" as a whole mechanic that upgrades your systems at the cost of losing a crewman.
honestly respect them just copying the ftl mechanics. it'd be different if subset games were still releasing ftl content (sequels, dlc etc.) but it's been more than a decade and people are still so into the game that this is just filling a need in the fanbase. It'd suck if they were just changing the mechanics arbitratily to hide the association.
Honestly one of the things I would like to see is a greater sense of impact with weapons. In FTL, missiles, lasers, and other weaponry does't feel like they slam into the enemy ship, it just sort of goes pew pew instead of boom and impact.

I do see some downsides and some upsides. I hope they make it to steam and when it's released I'll happily cough up the dough and try it out.
I believe you are running the game at a non-standard resolution, making the pixel art look weird and inconsistent. It should have a resolution to run at where it looks fine, especially when comparing your footage with the trailer.
I feel that this game has a lot of visual clutter. Looks incredible, but there is just so much you can look at, and I don't feel the important stuff is given the proper attention, in this regard at least.
Overall I like the details and clutter, adds to the grimdark aesthetic, but I totally agree, it could be toned down/certain aspects like the system bars could be made more clear/larger.
I was a lil wary Kuz it looked like straight rip off of FTL but I love the new crew system and I'm hype to play after seeing your gameplay. I would like to see how the source code looks under a microscope next to FTL though..
Oh dear god that font is AWFUL.. It looks cool, it fits the grimdark vibe. But WHY did they force it to be lowres and smudgy for "nostalgia". Up the DPI of that text ingame and it instantly becomes a better game. Dont cling to pixel nostalgia when it literally hurts the game.
I love the idea to copy everything that was best from FLT and build more mechanics on top of it, but I really wish they would have gone with some cool campaign and lore-based gameplay instead of a simple one-boss roguelike that FTL was. As of right now it seems more like a heavily modded FLT rather than a standalone game, but considering the fact that it's the presumably first project of a 2-man team without any resources I guess it's fine. I STILL will play it as I loved FTL and a WH40k themed modded FLT sounds fun, however, I believe that a game based on 2 absolutely amazing things - FTL and Warhammer 40k should amount to something a little bit more than what was shown till now, a heavily modded FTL. I will back this game, and wish all the best to the devs. If this one succeeds, I hope they will make another one, more ambitious.
My initial reaction is that the UI is much less readable than FTL, definitely a turn off for me, but the mechanics are solid and more ftl-like content would be amazing.
Man that's some in-your-face old school tutorial popup spam, how are things if you just skip that part entirely? Actually you know what this artstyle reminds me of, is Ian Bird's Deuteros from back in 1991.
I think it's too similar to be a stand alone, if they wanted to make this a mod I'd be all for it. Also the tutorial is way to long, I much prefer how FTL had next to no tutorial.
Even UA-cam thinks this is FTL. But yeah, this is awesome, I'm probably buying it soon (got too many expenses this month). Edit: I wonder what happens if your captain dies? Can you appoint another?
I'm shocked that the ships' exterior artwork are so similar to FTL. No 1 thing I would imagine being easy to differentiate. I'm glad for another game in the style, but mannnn, this hits way too close to home.

I believe you are running the game at a non-standard resolution, making the pixel art look weird and inconsistent. It should have a resolution to run at where it looks fine, especially when comparing your footage with the trailer.
"Gorth the Exile" sounds like a skin condition. ...or a death sentence.
Take my money!
Looks dope. Is it on steam?
I feel that this game has a lot of visual clutter. Looks incredible, but there is just so much you can look at, and I don't feel the important stuff is given the proper attention, in this regard at least.
Overall I like the details and clutter, adds to the grimdark aesthetic, but I totally agree, it could be toned down/certain aspects like the system bars could be made more clear/larger.
I was a lil wary Kuz it looked like straight rip off of FTL but I love the new crew system and I'm hype to play after seeing your gameplay. I would like to see how the source code looks under a microscope next to FTL though..
i think we have to remember this is just an alpha, the game will probably become more distinct as development continues, both from 40k and FTL
How did I not know this game existed!?
Lovely!!!!
UA-cam says this is a FTL: Faster Than Light video.
Man that's some in-your-face old school tutorial popup spam, how are things if you just skip that part entirely?
Actually you know what this artstyle reminds me of, is Ian Bird's Deuteros from back in 1991.
RPG/RTS with pause is such a blessing
Cons: copy of FTL
Pros: copy of FTL
Like many have said, its been 10 years, if someone else wants to copy FTL, then I have no issue
I think it's too similar to be a stand alone, if they wanted to make this a mod I'd be all for it. Also the tutorial is way to long, I much prefer how FTL had next to no tutorial.
If you like games like this and FTL, Shortest Trip to Earth is in a similar vein (though way more complicated so not to everyone's taste I'm sure.)
UI is too cluttered and harder to read, than FTL's. Hopefully it will be fixed via mods.
Is this actually using the FTL gma eengine? Regardless looks awesome
bold statement
How in the world are they making this without getting sued? Games Workshop is famously litigious.
I feel like the ftl formula could be adapted to 3d, even if many of the operations were still done through ui.
Have they fixed the resolution issues that FTL has? Also Warhammer may be grim dark, but I can't remember it being monotone :(
Even UA-cam thinks this is FTL. But yeah, this is awesome, I'm probably buying it soon (got too many expenses this month).
Edit: I wonder what happens if your captain dies? Can you appoint another?
If your captain dies you lose the run.
I'm shocked that the ships' exterior artwork are so similar to FTL. No 1 thing I would imagine being easy to differentiate. I'm glad for another game in the style, but mannnn, this hits way too close to home.
DUDE! Uninstall the Hate thing to put it into your cargo to be able to sell it. It's really not that hard >.

'Uninstalled modules will be destroyed. Do You wish to uninstall this module?'
The interface needs more contrast to the background.
Maybe change it from grey to metal/red?
