I have had both sets shown and I agree with your assessment. I don’t remember what I paid for those xop sticks when I got them but it was definitely way more than $99. That is an absolute bargain.
They take some Lone Wolf tech and some Hawk tech and integrate it all into their own heavier stick. I'm not opposed to a little weight on my back for more comfort during an all-day sit, even if it is three miles in. But, I am a fan of double step sticks. Overall, I agree with you. They are a value. Thanks for the review, Jason.
I just got a four pack of Sebnux short sticks for a grand total of $102.19 off Amazon. Very happy with the quality of the product. Thanks for another great video.
Great review. Glad to see you continuing to show the full length, 3 stick, foldable step system. The speed and efficiency of running that system on the swim noodles on treestand is hard to beat. The slim profile and very little snagging makes a big difference. My only regret is not buying a 2nd set of original lone wolf full length sticks when I bought mine for $100 for a 3 pack.
Another practical perspective review for the average Joe trying to stretch their paycheck. Some people hate on them, but the four pack Hawk Helium mini sticks are on sale at MidwayUSA for $80. I've run these sticks for the last four years without any issue. With a double step aider on the bottom stick, I can comfortably reach 15-16'.
I love mine BUT I put LW straps and removed the suction cups. The Hawk straps are too slick and the buckle has no bite. The suction cups I could not pull apart in the dark one morning, so just sat on the ground. Took those suckers off after that!
@@mb748 The suction cup nesting issue is well documented, and an inherent flaw in manufacturing. As soon as I got mine, I used a utility knife, Dremel, and sandpaper to fine tune the fit. My sticks stack & unpack without issue. I never ran the Hawk straps because I went straight to amsteel daisy chains. That attachment method has served me well. Season 4 on the Hawk sticks has been good thus far; still no issues to report.
That discount and weight rating is why I got mine! I’m 245lb but with all my stuff on plus my bow and JX3 I’m close to 300. The sticks have been great so far. I silenced them with tape and they’re good now.
I ordered a set. I’ve had some of the high dollar sticks but I like the simplicity of three full size sticks even if it’s a little more weight. I didn’t like dealing with aiders and more sticks to get to the same height. Around $90 after a promo code. Can’t beat that. Their warranty is great as well.
As far as getting extra height out of them, I don’t believe that’s true. The steps are the same distance apart on the xop and Novix. Line the bottom steps up on both and you’ll see the top steps line up too. The tubing is longer on the xop bc of their step stopper design being larger. Nice video, thanks for sharing. Good luck hunting 👍
I watched your video when it came out but just got around to buying these and Amazon is running a save $25 on $100 and these are included....so I got them for a cool $75 🎉
Just got the Rubicon and these sticks to try out this year. Cant wait to see your opinions, and mods. Especially curious if you have any ideas to most effectively use the MOLLE system on the Rubicon seat.
I will say this also too they do weigh a bit more than your new modern carbon sticks, but the standoff and the extra length of the step itself gives you the confidence of not falling out of a freaking tree so that’s worth the extra couple pounds to me
My steps are the XOP short steps sticks and I just bought a pair of the ones that you’re reviewing in this video for the price. Why would you buy anything else? The quality is there the price is there do I need to say anymore?
@SamkoTradBow awesome. That's what I've been using this year, I'm a big fan of how I can pack them in and not having to attach extra of the shorter sticks to climb the same height. Thinking about grabbing a 4th stick after season is done. Greetings from Ontario Canada
I love xop much more. The steps on the Lone wolf/novix climbing sticks seem so sketchy because of how small the steps are, but thats just my personal preference.
How rigid are the steps? I had some hawk helium sticks that had the folding steps and they bent when you put a lot of forward pressure on them (when climbing with a lineman’s rope and setting up the tree stand)
@@genericyoutubeuser1700 Some people, especially nowadays, can't except or rescind their mistake... possibly he doesn't even realize you're pointing out the fact that he misspoke claiming they get you 6" higher o.0
@@SamkoTradBow I like many of your videos, but there are times when it seems like you jump on something new as the greatest thing since sliced bread, and it clouds your judgment. The only thing you mentioned about them is that they will get you 6 inches further up the tree, which they won’t.
Pack a lot tighter if running full gear on long hikes. Biggest diference is how comfortable you are setting up on a single step or double. I set 2 stands off 1 set of sticks for me and my wife for run and gun.
It’s sad to me when folks demand we only buy “100% made in USA” when that is financially impossible unless I force my family into poverty. So what if it’s made in China, Taiwan, etc. so long as it’s going to allow me to keep my family fed and comfortable.
These are super heavy go with something else. Maybe if you’re setting a stand and it’s staying in one place. But if you want to be mobile you’ll want a lighter option
Unless your leaving them in a tree for a permanent setup , i can’t see any advantage to these sticks … makes zero sense to carry sticks this big compared to sticks the same price already on the market
@@SamkoTradBow aside from packability there’s no huge difference … i carried 3 full size heliums for a while but went down to three hawk minis with 3 aiders way easier to pack and saves some weight
I would rather carry three larger sticks and not have to worry about fumbling with heaters at 4 o’clock in the morning and pitch black and having to worry about falling out of a tree bud
Secret is out, i got mine a month ago for $99. I currently have x2s as well but like the lmo4s for longer hikes. They pack tighter with full gear. I am 49 and my wife is 50 and she is comfortable on either. We carry 2 stands and 1 set of sticks

If the top of the bottom step is 32 inches from the top of the top step, the length of the bar holding them together is irrelevant, isn’t it?
@genericyoutubeuser1700 yep. But I didn't measure step to step

Use two of the long straps as a carry strap for over shoulder and held on the side. What is 2 extra pounds, nothing.
