Got my best buck with my longbow on puplic land the other day. I'm happy
Congratulations
Where’s the video bro?
@greeneyesfromohio4103 man i had a good pro on and forgot to hit record. Ik feel stupid
I've seen two other Dudes in the woods this Fall (Michigan) with Pool Noodles on their Stands, Including Myself 😂
Another good one Jason 👍🏻
@@MarkShelby2025 pool noodles rock!
I started out with mini sticks.
Then i found this chanel. They got relegated to being put up once a year in a prime rut spot and left until after late muzzle loader.
Full size im up the tree in less than 5. Love it
Glad they work great for you too.
Your good my boy..I’m 67 now and have thought about trying your mobile hunting but seriously doubt I could do it or I’d be so tired I wouldn’t be able to get back down..lol..been watching you for years..
@markdederick1953 every year I get close to being done messing with climbing too.
@@SamkoTradBowI’m 64 and just got into Saddle Hunting this year, looking forward to getting busted and playing the Game of Cat and Mouse. Oh by the way I love the content Jason picking up a lot of tidbits
@captainjoesanglingadventur4894 nothing better than thos cat and mouse game in the amazing outdoors
@@SamkoTradBow - When you are done with climbing and tree stands what method of deer hunting will you be doing? I would assume ground hunting but gotta ask…..
@greeneyesfromohio4103 yep ground huntingbwith my waldrop pack seat
The reason I like a short 20-inch stick with a cable aider is because of the funky curved and split trees. Good video none the less.
Your Samko style system is total perfection. I havent seen anyone else on youtube that can beat you in speed and efficiency for a hang and hunt system. I also have a set of the SS carbon sticks and theyre great. I use them for certain situations but 95% of the time I find myself using my original Lone Wolf full length sticks run on my stand Samko style on swim noodles. IMO it just gets the job done the fastest with the least amount of effort.
@markfaria1684 yep it's all about finding what works best for you and your situations. I think for me my set up is spot on. Will probably use these sticks and this size stand forever. It works.
You do have a good system. I've been fooling around with different systems for 30 years (like you). I hunt from the ground more now probably because I'm weaker and lazier at 64 years old. I'm just not as aggressive as I used to be. I still enjoy fooling around with equipment. Your videos are great to me because there are many subtle tricks that your hard hunting has taught you and you share this with us. Thank you! My current toy to try out is the Rubicon stand and 4 lightweight sticks from Tetherd. 14# system. Never tried it yet so I don't know how difficult it will be but should work ok since I don't like to be higher than about 12 feet.
@donaldbuckner2935 you will love the rubicon and those tetherd sticks are excellent. Jon has those in camp right now
@@SamkoTradBow I have aleady modded the stand with the filing of the bottom of the teeth like you do.
@donaldbuckner2935 sure does make it slide lock quick and easy
This system works great for me. I’ve tried shorter sticks too, and although they are nice to have the two steps the ease of packing and set up I found to be unbeatable.
Love the simple efficient set up
Well done this has changed my thinking about sticks for sure
Funny how different people are. You couldn’t pay me to go back to full length signal step sticks. But like you say use what works for you👍🏻
@@ikswodolg2 yep try it all and find what's best for you
Great video. I still love my original lone wolf sticks. I'm going to try your setup for stand and sticks and see how I like it.
You will love how simple and efficient it is
I got the lone wolf alpha and three lone wolf sticks. I also have the beast stand with four mini beast sticks. Don’t use the alpha anymore and been experimenting with saddle hunting. I’m using those sticks for saddle and keep my beast sticks with the beast stand. I love switching it up . Your set up makes sense. Keep on kickin it off Jason! Keep on using the sound effects in your vids lol!
@thedangler1371 loved my beast stand too! Awesome stand.
my XOP Lmo4 came in today. Going to shed some weight and streamline my setup for reason of that added weight! Using the pool noodle design to space the sticks to evenly distribute weight. Great sticks! Especially for a semi permanent setup. Im mobile but I've shed enough weight I can make the 34in work. cut down on time and amount of pieces I gotta pack in the woods 👍
@JunkyardGardener love it. Get the system dialed in that works perfect for you
Just started using xop lmo4s this season instead of my x2 minis and this is quicker and more efficient. I always put both straps on my stand though. After a l3 l4 fusion 2 years ago I wont risk a stand kick out. Love your channel
@@jedwards-yr5sy glad you survived the fall. 2 straps is always better than one
I agree I use 4 32” sticks.
I’ve owned LWCG .5/.75/ and 1.0 I’ve also owned all the different stick lengths and even double sticks.
While it is excellent quality and I still own their products. I cannot recommend people to save their money and buy the Novix hunt ready system and ditch the plastic stick holder and strap them to the stand and upgrade shoulder straps with waiste straps and your good from 5 miles in on Pisgah National forest or 1/2 mile in in flat land. I don’t hunt gear I hunt deer. Tags filled and more money in the bank. Good video.
@@godsgraceoutdoors2659 well said
I’m with you. I told my son that the mini’s are for young guys. I use XOP 3-steps. Little heavier and I’m in no hurry. Old guy sticks😊. Good video sir thanks
@jeffstillings8624 yep hard to beat 3 full size sticks for efficiency
Great video! I have used just about all the sticks out there! And went back to 3/32inch LW sticks with my Assault 2stand!! I'm still waiting to see how long it takes for you to go back to your Assaults2!!! Nothing beats it IMO!!!
Amazing sticks, amazing stand
My buddy uses a climber still i recommend you're channel told him he need a hang on.
You’re missing the point. Perfect your own system and don’t care what anyone tells you should do.
Climbers are great in some areas. But as a traditional bowhunter climbers are tough as they require a capable tree and often there is not one where I need. And moving 10 yards to one cuts my shooting distance in half
Great points on the sticks. I've tried mini sticks, fixed steps and once the combination of both. I even tried aiders on the mini's. Not much help. They only made me feel like I was fumbling around for feel when climbing down. All of the aforementioned suck!!Full length sticks with folding steps is the only way for me.
@ALNTV1541 agree. Tried all of the other sticks and styles ans aiders. Like my system best
Great video! What knot did you use to tie your purple tether to the tree? Thanks!
@@BrownFamSpfld bowline
I use a combination of X2 sticks and their 32 inch sticks two and two it works really good
@@bqoutdoors2334 perfect
Great video as always
Is that 17’ to the stand?
I have the same exact stand as you (lwcg 1.0) but I have the 20inch compact sticks from lwcg and I use the J hooks to line up the sticks with the grommets so I can secure them on the stand.
I completely agree that lining up the grommets, turning the j hooks to secure your sticks on takes me like 2 mins to do which is too long. I am looking to cut down on time on my set up so after watching your video I'm looking to make adjustments. However I don't think I can stack my 20 inch compact sticks on my stand the same way as you are stacking your 32 inch sticks. I tried that and they stick out too far and there's no where to store my backpack because I would have to collapse the seat shelf to fit sticks on.
I think that idea you described in your video would work better for me if I had double steps because you don't have to worry about lining up rubber grommets onto those. Just use a bungee for that.
Overall I do like the way you have your set up because it's quick and less time consuming, but the problem for me personally is if I set my sticks up that way, I won't have room for my backpack to store on the shelf. And I don't want to carry my stand set up on 1 shoulder like you're carrying a gun. Having said that,
Is there any suggestions you have that would work better based on my set up that would help me cut down on time?
Thanks
@bobbydenezza7795 love that you arr experimenting and trying it all to find what works best for you. When I carried my pack on my stand I just dropped the shoulder straps of the pack over the v notch of the platform. But not sure how well that would work with the 1.0 and how aggressive the teeth are
@SamkoTradBow Well, I could try hanging the straps onto the sticks when they are secured on the stand. Not sure how well it would stay on. But the one I just discovered that would cut down on time getting set up is swapping the J hooks for rubber gear ties for securing my sticks on my stand. I timed myself undoing both of the J hooks off my sticks and that took me 40 seconds to do. When I undid both of the rubber gear ties off my sticks it only took be 12 seconds to do. That's 38 seconds longer it takes me to disassemble J hooks as opposed to untieing the Rubber gear ties.
Another way I think I'm losing time is by using the lwcg buckless straps because when I wrap them around my sticks, the width of the straps gets in the way of the grommets therefore making it difficult to line them up. So maybe if I use daisy chain to replace the straps, it'll be easier to wrap around the sticks and because they're thinner they won't interfere with lining up the sticks with the grommets.
A 3rd option could be I buy double steps sticks and stack them in the middle of the stand and without worrying about lining them up with grommets, I can just simply bungee cord those down the same way as you did your sticks in this video. That would be quick and easy and less time consuming as well.
What are your thoughts?
@bobbydenezza7795 love how ypu are diving deep into perfecting your system. Nothing i can add. Just keep doing what your doing to whittle down what works best for you.
What about 2 threader climbing? And Jx13 hybrid ? The silence of no stick plus speed of repelling down is awesome specially when you have to reposition
This is also in response to your earlier video on hunting/
Driving 21 days straight .
I don’t think there is any other system that provides structural support when hanging out of a tree.
Plus it also acts as a pack out system and thus reduces carrying a backpack with a frame.
Not to mention its ability to act as a ground hunting chair!
I wish I knew about it before I bought my saddle+ 1 stick
Have you ever used the xop vanish evolution.
@@Dixiebowhunter have not
Looks like an easy climber tree , ive been using my summit openshot for years now and started playing with sticks this season. I started with the xop 3 pegs like and just grabbed some minis and they are sketchy
Brother, I am always messing with stuff and making mods, Like you I still use old school 3 step sticks, and dont plan to mess around with a bunch of tiny stick. My question is this since you mentioned in your video, you said you had some deer some in , down wind and not shot opportunity. May I ask how close they were when they got your wind, if you dont mind me asking anyhow. Thanks agian for another great video and I hope your hunt continue with success and being safe sir. Keep up the great work and I hope you have a blessed week.
Dale
@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors they were about 40 yards when they busted me. When hunting feed trees deer often treat them like a bait site and circle down wind before coming in from down wind. It's very frustrating
@ yes sir. I understand. Thank you for letting me know brother and continued success out there my friend.
@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors thanks. Wishing you great success as well
Do you still use a camera arm to film your hunts, or have you went to a different system?
@@tylersoutdooradventures8919 i do not. I use a combination of my phone free hand and my gopro on my head
Can you post a link on the type of aider you're using on your main stick?
@bobbydenezza7795 will when I get a chance. On the road today. But it's called a rock climbing sling on Amazon. 2 feet long. Just a thinn loop of super strong climbers webbing
Are you using the Lonewolf stand this year only and ditching the XOP stand?also why not just grind those square versa buttons round with a small router
I have not touched my assault this whole trip. Running the rubicon every day and love it. I did use a dremel and round the hard edges of the versa button on the lwcg 1.0
What safety harness is that where the lineman belt connects to?
@@soothingmind3174 tactisaddle.com tbws tree stand safety harness. And i have a few reviews of it on my channel if you search harness
@@SamkoTradBow thanks!
Have you tried the lwcg 3 step stick?
@GarrettLaPolt I have not. Awful expensive for something that is shorter and similar. So I just stick with my tried and proven set up.
@ that’s valid, also have that same style versa button.
Do the math… If you say inches per oz
Tethers One sticks: .97oz per inch (the lightest climbing stick on the planet they say)
Novix Full Length: 1.1oz per inch (old tried and true dusty crusty climbing stick)
Less than .5 of an oz isn’t worth carrying more sticks imo if we’re talking weight. Two of my novix sticks with cables aiders I get the same height as 4 of my 17” Shikars. Like them both a lot but the novix makes way more sense. Cheaper and more efficient.

I much prefer to go slower, not breathe as hard, and minimize sweat as much as possible. The woods is where I go to slow things down. 10 min to get up instead of 4? Eh negligible.
Starting to drop below freezing, 1 minute saved on the climb means 10 minutes venting off sweat on the top before putting on rest of the layers and being able to sit still.
@@smau990 He is sweating in a t shirt
It's Georgia in September. You sweat the second you open the truck door

I hate mini sticks. They are a pain to pack and like you said they don’t have the speed. Just hooks take too long and suck when dealing with ice and snow.
