    BOURBON BBQ SAUCE RECIPE
    Bourbon is a staple food item in any good Kentuckian's home. A bourbon BBQ sauce is a close second! Before we get started . . . make sure you are using a really high-quality bourbon. The better the quality the better the flavors will hold up during the cooking process.
    Ingredients:
    - Salted Butter - 2 tbsp
    - Diced Yellow Onion - 1 Small
    - Crushed Garlic - 6 Cloves
    - Woodford Reserve Bourbon - 1 cup
    - Ketchup - 6 cups
    - Water - 2 cups
    - Tomato Paste - 6 oz
    - Apple Cider Vinegar - 1/2 cup
    - Hot Sauce - 2 tbsp
    - Worcestershire - 1/4 cup
    - Brown Sugar - 2 cup
    - Red Pepper Flakes - 1 tsp
    - Salt - 2 tbsp
    - Black Pepper - 1 tsp
    - Nutmeg - 1 tsp
    - Paprika - 1 tbsp
    - Cumin - 1 tsp
    - All Spice - 1tsp
    - Add as much water as you like to get the desired consistency.
    Directions:
    Mis en place:
    1. Slice one medium onion.
    2. Dice six cloves of garlic.
    1. Melt butter on medium heat in stockpot and sweat onions. About 5 minutes.
    2. Add garlic and saute 1 - 2 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low.
    3. Add the remaining ingredients into the stockpot and stir.
    4. Let the sauce cook on medium-low heat for 20 minutes. Stirring occasionally.
    5. When finished pour the sauce into a blender or food processor and mix thoroughly.
    6. Store in an air-tight mason jar and refrigerate.

    Chandler, thank you for this fabulous barbecue sauce recipe. I did not even think about using fresh cut onion and fresh pressed garlic until this video! This made a major improvement in the flavor. I used whiskey in my sauce, and a few other variations of similar ingredients. If I produce a UA-cam video of me making BBQ sauce, I will be sure to give you credit and much appreciation. I will include a link to your video in the description.     Is the Woodford Reserve you use the Kentucky Small Batch, Kentucky Derby, Double Oak, or other variety? I used Woodford Reserve Kentucky Small Batch, and it made the barbecue sauce outstanding. My experience at making barbecue sauce is limited, and this recipe is a lot of work, but it's worth it! Makes me want to make it at home because it's far better than pre-made barbecue sauce from the grocery store. Thanks to the Chandler Lyles channel for this awesome recipe.

    Ahh man, I am going to have to quadruple the recipe to coat meat, extra for those who want more and to make homemade baked beans. Great recipe!

    About the onions I completely agree with you is gonna make a difference between onion powder or onion sauce,I used onion in almost all sea food I cook specially shrimp,I when to a restaurant the other day and I tasted the bbq bourbon sauce in the vegetables and for a minute I was wondering what kind of sauce is that till I starting figuring out and a was bbq bourbon sauce and now I want to learn how to make the sauce and adding to some of my latinos foods I think is going to be fire🔥

    Hi, Chandler! I prepared your Bourbon-bbq sauce recipe, and it worked out purrrrrfect ! Used it to make pork "burnt ends" spare ribs :) The sauce was so good, our visitors took home a jar with a quart of sauce :D

    tip....add the bourbon and vinegar to the onions and garlic, cook for 5 min and puree that..then add to the rest and wont have to dick around pureeing the whole batch.

      I started with 1/2. But when the sauce was cooling down, I added another half cup, as I do like the bitter tang of bourbon in the sauce.

      @@lylesbbq This is why it pays to read more carefully. I followed the instructions verbatim, to double my batch, but used 2 cups of bourbon instead of 1 cup. The end result was decent, but something was clearly missing. My daughter thought it called for too much ketchup. Will see how the family likes, and will most likely make it again for the 4th or Labor Day.
