Kentucky Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

  • Kentucky Bourbon Barbecue Sauce has a tangy flavor with just enough sweetness. I made this with a reduction of Kentucky Bourbon, molassess, apple cider vinegar and just a few other ingredients. The full list of ingredients is at the very end of the video. When you are choosing your bourbon, you do not have to use an expensive one and I actually recommend that you use a less expensive one. I used Jim Beam. I have a video coming soon of baby back ribs using this sauce, sooooo good :)

    Thanks again for this recipe. I have been looking for a bourbon- based BBQ sauce. I will absolutely try this one this weekend, I hope. I have all the ingredients, except of course, the bourbon. Lol......hats off to you, Chef!

    I've got to try this sauce! Reminds me a lot of my Tennessee whiskey mopping sauce, and those flavors are just so good! Thanks for sharing!

    Oh. Yeah your sauce looks hot. Yo, but what about the honey, if we use it, you know..is it a kosherer (yoe) version, satisfactory!! Great verd-ehh yo! :)

    How would I thicken the sauce up a bit? In the video, it seems to runny for me. Also, is there any sort of spice kick to it? If not, what would your recommend adding to add a very small amount of spice?

      Hi, I think that the easiest way to thicken this sauce would be to add a slurry. So what you would do is in a separate little bowl or ramekin, mix 2 teaspoons of cornstarch with 1 1/2 teaspoons of cold water and stir it around until the cornstarch is dissolved into the water. Add this into the sauce at the end and bring it to a simmer (you may want to add 1/2 of the cornstarch mixture and check the consistency before adding the rest). That will thicken it right up for you 😀.....This sauce doesn't really have a spicy kick to it but you can easily add one. I would probably go with cayenne pepper myself (start with 1/4 teaspoon and taste it to see if you want a little more heat). You could also add your favorite hot sauce (something like Tabasco) although it would affect the taste a bit. I hope that this is helpful 😀 Have a great weekend!

      That is sad lol! You could replace it with another Bourbon if you needed to 😀

    Could I sub extra virgin Olive oil without sacrificing the flavor?

      Hi :) If you are only trying to replace the canola oil with olive oil, it will not really affect the flavor. If you are also replacing the butter with olive oil, it will have a slight affect on the flavor and the richness of the sauce. I think it will still be good though. The other ingredients all have a pretty strong flavor. I hope that this is helpful :) Thank you for watching!!!
