Just a few things. The heated/cooled sport seats are upgrades over the Recaros. Recaros came standard and the sport seats were optional. The oil filter "issue" was solved in the early run of the 17 model year. Ford switched to a canister style system to alleviate that problem. The issue stemmed from engine harmonics vibrating the spin on filters off the mount if they weren't torqued to 18-20 lbft. Ford sent owners of the earlier cars the appropriate filter wrench for their cars which needed simply a torque wrench to install the filter correctly. You can install the newer canister style housing on the earlier cars if you wish. Ford made upgrade kits to do it that are still available. The engine issues. It's a hand built "track" engine in a street car. They were never meant to be a jump in and rev to the moon engine. They simply won't last if treated that way. They have to be completely warmed up to temp before putting any RPMs on them. Can't count the number of times I've seen a YTber or idiot at a car meet let the engine sit till cold then jump in and rev them to the moon. That's not great for an assembly line engine, never mind the Voodoos. And people wonder why they let go. Oil consumption, see what I just wrote. Not saying there weren't issues with some of them, of course there were. Some were built on Friday. You can say the same for just about any vehicle. There are crappy ones. Is what it is. You don't buy a GT350 and treat it like a GT. It's not a Coyote. The reason the Voodoo isn't really the best platform for boost is the compression. The Voodoo is 12:1 from the factory. 12:1 isn't a ratio anyone would pick for boost in a street motor. It'll work, but YMMV. The Voodoo engine itself is one of the big reasons the GT350 was laid to rest. And not because of issues with it's performance or reliability. The Voodoo engine couldn't be certified overseas due to emissions. The Coyote has been certified for years. The Mustang platform is a "world" platform and it made sense for Ford to discontinue the engine altogether and stick with the Coyote. I don't believe the new GT500 can be sold "On the lot" at a dealer overseas for the same reason. The GT500 engine is a Voodoo based engine but with the traditional cross-plane crank. If treated properly the GT350 is as reliable as any other vehicle really. If you buy or own one, you just need to treat it a little differently in those first 10 minutes. Once it's warmed up, it's show time. Have at it. They're not street brawlers. My 705rwhp 13 GT500 was a street brawler. If you want a street brawler, like you mentioned, look elsewhere. If you want a car that will out handle most everything on the street and cars that cost 2-3x more as well, with brakes that will suck your eyeballs out, with a sound that you can't find anywhere else but from a GT350, then it's your car. If you want a fancy Coyote with bits and pieces from the GT350 and GT500, and you like the looks and perceived "reliability" of the Mach, then that's your car. You can't lose with either really. You just have to know that the Shelby has some quirks you must accept in order to be happy with it long term. You don't have those same quirks with the Mach but in the end, it's a Mach. Not a Shelby. Depends on your motivations. :)
what do you mean Perceived "reliability" Its been proven coyotes are EXTREMELY strong engines. World record manual transmission car is a Coyote mustang. That being said the voodoo is not a different engine its still a coyote. It has a flat plane crank. the issues i know of are the rod bearings were too small and spun the bearings. You cant sell a street car as a street car and claim oh its a race car you have to warm it up ect. Then dont sell it as a street car. That out the way, Im so sad that they axed the motor. Its one of the coolest sounding motors ever.
And the GT350 looks better. Front/rear fenders, hood, grill. It's special. Nothing against the Mach1, but looks wise it's pretty much just a GT with some badging. The 350 has different metal. I daily drive mine probably about 3 days a week with zero problems.
@@DragNetJoe the mach 1 is a gt350 with different aero and a gt coyote engine. same suspension as the gt350r and the same chassis and mostly same interior.
@@sariahreigns3666 The GT350 has different metal. It's more than just the aero. The front and rear fenders and hood are different also. Does the Mach 1 have the extra oil and transmission coolers (I don't know)?
Had a 350R as my daily for a couple of years. Absolutely amazing car and turned a lot of heads. Issues on these seem hit or miss, mine had minimal oil consumption and ran like a champ.
My 2018 engine exploded at 6k miles, threw all the rods out but had 100+ psi oil pressure.. ford bought it back no questions and I bought a 18k mile 2017 grabber blue and haven't had a single problem. Oil consumption is about a quart per 2k miles? Seems fine to me!
37k miles on my 2017. Runs hard every time I drive it. I always check the oil and watch the oil pressure. They’re great motors. Unlike any other V8 I’ve driven
Getting a gt350 with Gen2 motor solved many of the issues including getting the upgraded parts that they now use in the Gt500 motor. No one has a perfect engine without issues. As for boosting it, only needs a few modifications that you have done on your coyote. A Gt350 is meant to be N/A
Love my 2019 GT350. Absolute beast. Handling, comfort and looks are just flat out on another level!! Gen 2 Voodoo motor is the 350r motors with all the coolers. Shelby hands down!
Well said... I have a 2018 Shelby GT350 and actually spun a rod at Road Atlanta 7 weeks ago. My car has 30,000 miles on it with 95% of those miles being on track. Ford stepped up and replaced my motor under warranty so I now have the V2 Voodoo motor. I have a 1000 mile break in period and I'm halfway there. I can't wait to be able to get on it again once I hit 1001 miles. Thanks for the video RacerX!
Yea, I run a lot of HPDEs. The issues with the GT350 show up every HPDE I attend with the Mustang clubs where somebody has issues. I know folks who lost motors and one buddy has a GT350 with 80K miles on it (!!) and he has a ton of HPDEs. His only issue is the oil filter backing off. I have some buddies with zero issues on an R and std GT350. I guess it's a crap shoot.
I’d definitely get the Shelby for the snake alone. Shelby always holds value much better than the other Mustang trims. I’m still debating if I want one of these.
For daily driving: bad turning radius, tram lining on even roads, slow warm up, gas tank meant for an Eco Boost, and the worst…the gearing. It’s a 5-speed with a huge overdrive 6th that I personally only use above 70 mph. Mine is a 2018.
We bought a 2016 GT 350 with only 7000 miles on it 3 years ago. It's 2022 and now has 40000 on it, still low for that long. We don't really drive it to death, baby it like crazy. Ride a Vespa down the street to the store, leave Shelby in the garage. Car is insanely special. Feels like an invisible hand is pressing the car down on the road from above. And wow, what a sound!
The Shelby GT350 will go down as one of the best driver's cars ever to come out of America. Watch CJ Pony parts UA-cam video on 350 vs 500. 90% of people would pick the Gt350 over the 500 for what the 350 is. As a collector, the GT350 is what people are gonna be lusting after. Mach 1 great car, just missing the Magic that Voodoo has, regardless if the hype of failures. The Mach 1 in the end is just a modified 5.0.. It will never reach it...
2019 GT350 here. 6 different tracks, 10+ track days (3 of them in 110+ degree weather), 20+ canyon runs out here in California, 40,000+ miles and still going strong. Planning on taking her to Road America in Wisconsin and driving her back to California this summer.
@@RCXDerp Catch cans are a great idea...ive collected about a quarter of fluid in my passenger side catch can in the 40,000 miles ive driven it. I am going to the first track day in August at Road Americam hopefully see you there.
Just bought my 2020 GT350 techpack car a few months ago, almost the same spec you are showing in the video. So far, it's been amazing! Fast, comfy when needed, very sticky. Vert track capable.
I’ve heard of people having issues with their voodoo motors, but I’ve honestly had nothing happen to me. I even daily drove mine for a year and a half when I bought the car. Mine’s a Gen 1 also. They’re solid motors, you just have to check the oil, let it warm up before you go high rpm, and watch the oil pressure. It’s worked well for me so far at almost 40k miles. I’ve also seen several of them go boosted, and love it. Just keep in mind the high compression and use the right fuel. Trying to run 93 octane above low boost probably isn’t the best idea.
One of my favorite cars of all time. Hands down my pick for anything south of $150k. And certainly my favorite car that I may just have the slightest possibility of getting myself into.
Love love love my '17 GT350. Added Cup II tires and the rest is history. Always let it come up to temp properly and then enjoy the best Mustang ever produced. The End.
I`ll preface my comment with saying, I am not a Ford guy...at all. I owned one once for about 4 months. A 2000 F150 4x4 with the 4.7 Triton V8 brand new. Starter went at 800 kms. Rear main seal had to be replaced at 2700 kms and again at 12,000 kms. It was in the shop more than on the road. That said, the Voodoo platform has too many issues. If I had to choose between the new Mach 1 and the GT350, I would go with the reliability of the Mach1 with the 6 speed Tremec. (I currently own a 2021 Challenger 392 T/A 6 speed Tremec...and pulled an 11.94 with it at the track, bone stock. If you know how to power shift well, having a manual is not necessarily a disadvantage even against today`s auto transmissions). This all said, I do love the exhaust note of the 350 and a Shelby is a Shelby. They are special cars.
Ooh, I think I've seen some videos on the Triton that say it's a terrible engine. I'm not into trucks. Besides, you can't beat the Cummins 6.7 B series engine in a pickup. You can get more horsepower in some other trucks but those B series will nearly outlast the owner.
Love the video. I roll my window down every time next to a 350. I feel like thats a car that sits in the garage and a magic voice whispers in the air, Drive me! Really want a mach 1 but just don't think the price tag is called for on that car. Pretty much the same price as the 350 minus brembo on all 4, voodoo motor, and a shelby badge.
You are 100% accurate on the "drive me!" voice. 10 track days, 20+ canyon runs, and 40,000+ miles on my 19' GT350. I have to hide the keys from myself.
Ive had both. The Mach1 with the track pack is a better car and 6 speed. Almost identical track times, the difference is the 5.0 has superior reliability, and the 5.0 can be built to far more power. Its been updated, digital dash, better ride, car. The one thing the Shelby has is that sound. That is outstanding and the fact that it is a Shelby. A boost added to the Mach1 and you will be at GT 500 power.
Great to hear your opinion, since you have owned both! I looked at used GT350s and chose a new (2023) Mach1. They were basically the same price (within $3,000). I couldnt be happier with the feel, ride, speed, performance of the Mach1 ....but I still see GT350s and wonder if I settled? Glad to hear your opinion as it tells me I made a good choice (on a decision where there ARE no bad choices!)
@@OtisSpringerpilot if you could find a 2019, the 350 may be worth it. But with all the issues, the 5.0 will be the more reliable motor and has the capacity of more hp with forced induction. Enjoy!
I like the high RPMs of the Mustangs. I was a Honda kid with an 8400 RPM JSpec block and now have an M3, but I love seeing them 8s growling on the streets.
I had my 2011 GT500 out last night first time in a long time. The sound of my super charger my borla exhaust together and the grip of my super car 3 tires and the launch you feel when you step on it in second gear or third it is like a streamline super fast roller coaster at Disneyland that you can ride all day if you want and the fun just never stops.
@@MStrange88 that's great you did well! I've been selling all my vehicles left/right buying stocks/crypto. Likely 2024 I'll be back in something 🔥 hopefully C8Z or top trim S650 mustang
GT350's built after Feb 2017 received the cartridge style old filter. So both Gen1 and Gen 2 had that type of filter. Gen 2 do not seem any more reliable than Gen 1.
Love the 350. Just bought a 2022 Shelby GT500 Base Model, gets here this week. Would love to own a 350 down the road. Would be cool to have both the GT500 & GT350(R) Got the markup on the GT500 down to $7k from $25k. Still BS, but kept the GT500 in the price range. Only reason for the huge markdown, a friend of the family is the Finance Manager. I got super lucky. Really hope dealers stop with the insane markups.
I daily / track a 350. It's better looking, sounds better, and is all around more badass. As a daily, the mach1 is probably a better car. The 350 is really a track car and is geared like it. The FPC combined with the gearing means you will be revving your ass off everywhere you go which can get annoying.
I’ve tracked both n spanked more 350 guys w mach than vice versa. Crazy how no one talks abt the handling ability and downforce of the M1’s gurney flap n the sicknPS2’s (over the much smaller 295/305 on 350) Now a 350R- diff animal
The newer ones aren't like that. I would Def take a gt350 over a mach 1 all day every day. A Mach 1 is a loaded gt with a decal package and hand me down parts from the gt350 like trans and suspension and stuff. Nowhere near as special. Doesn't look as good either imo.
@@midnight347 there have been documented engine failures with the 19 and 20 model year (Gen 2) as well. Some on the way home from the dealer after purchase. Including GT500’s. These engines are or were $25k to replace. I wouldn’t take that gamble out of warranty.
I told a lot of people to get the 350 while It dropped. I forget when it dropped, but I remember seeing around 2018 the GT350's drop to sub 40k prices for cars with 20k miles or less... If you would have bought one, even a 2016, it would probably gain 10-20k in value since then. even if you drove it to 50k miles or more. Just now I looked and found some 2016 350's w/ 10k miles for 60k, 2016 350 with 20k miles for 53k.... I honestly think if you get a good car, the 350's will only increase in price... and then there's the curb appeal, it's a shelby... park it next to an 18 mustang, and people will usually look at the shelby 9/10 . That being said, the 18-23 5.0 are great.... boosted can make 900-1000 hp pretty easily, Now ... if only they would include forged rods in the S650... really stupid how they don't put forged rods in the gt500 too, it's 1-2k for essentially 1000hp capable engines and safe engines from the factory.
@@poopscooper5038 I run HPDE's with a couple different Mustang clubs. Sadly it's not internet "hype". Now, some issues aren't gonna result in a blown motor, but when you're balls out on a track you don't have long before bad things happen.
As an owner of a 2010 GT500 and also a 2016 5.0, I would pass on the GT350. Have seen several in the service shop pay getting new engines. I bought both of my mustangs pre-owned with a warranty. New Mach 1 for me if I was gonna lay out 65 grand.
I’ve had my ‘19 GT350 over two years now as a daily driver. I still love the car; so much fun. Uses about half a quart of oil in between oil changes, most of it going to oil catch can. I won’t be selling anytime soon. The 2nd gen engine (19-20) apparently is much more bulletproof.
Yes, I have been waiting for this one, This is in my wheel freaking house. This is my favorite Mustang out of all of them.Just can't afford them, and love that dark blue, my favorate color on a mustang. Man Racer X you got me wanting one so bad, and the fact they only come 6 speed manual is why i truly want one of these badass cars. Man thanks for this one really enjoyed it bud.
My wife and I bought a 2017 GT350 last year as a long-term investment. Some may question that strategy, which is fine, but certain cars do well over time (Shelbys are such. Look at prices of 65-66 GT350s vs any other Gen1 Mustang other than a Boss 429). Simply amazing car. If you want a daily driver get the Mach1, you will probably be able to live with it better, understanding its not in the same class as a GT350 or the new GT500. The 5.2L FPC makes it bespoke, they only made them for 5 years and they are already getting bought up and stored.
While I understand your decision, I truly do hope your are actually enjoying the car. This car does not deserve to be garaged and looked at, it deserves the open road!

Thankfully I ordered it from a dealer that stuck with msrp and as long as they do that it's an amazing value. Nothing like driving a muscle car on a nice day with your 2 sons u turned into gearheads!🙂
Thanks for the great content RacerX, gt350's are about 8/9k over what they should be..I was in the market for one about a year ago and should've pulled the trigger then..Most of the problems were with the 2016's..
I saw a Mach 1 the other day. I’m a Mopar guy, but I really liked the look and features. The GT 350 is cool, but I wouldn’t want to put many miles on one.
@@justpray365 😆 love it! When you said wouldn't put many miles I'm like what... this is like luxury grand tourer from my Miatas I daily. I MUST stay fit to drive lightweight forever gravity is real haha
A lot of guys were racing the 2016’s without the track package and blowing the engines. Which is why they made track packs standard 2017 and up. Also, if you change the oil, you MUST torque the filter to 16-18 ft lbs. Don’t blame Ford for these guys not following simple instructions. As for my GT350, the only oil I lose is from wiping off the dipstick. Never loses oil and drives like a gem and I drive her hard. Not for sale but really get annoyed with the bad publicity these cars get.
I’m of the opinion, The Mach 1 has the better power down low and we know it to be a fact it is a better and faster overall car than the Gt350. Parts bend or not, it has All the Best parts.
Ford really knows how to make a car!!! I like how after each drive you can pop your trunk and and take out a couple quarts to add to the engine oil as its already burned that amount. And like you said knowing your driving around a ticking time bomb as the vodoo engine is very prone to failure. Also I love that ford had a lighter less robust tremec transmission that can handle way less hp is so reassuring. Oh also the transmission over heats often!!! Ford has done it once again and made such a beautiful car with the worst possible drivetrain. Also there was a post above that stated the voodoo engine “was a hand built track engine ” as a excuse to the many issues they have. I call bull crap, look at a c5 z06 LS6. That was a track built engine and they have zero issues. Its just very rare can ford put out a good product any more plain and simple. Thank you Ford!!
How much is that GT350? And yeah the Scat Pack Challeger widebody is a punch in the gut with that toqure and the Shelbys have always been good cars. Thanks for the info on cars again always enjoy learning and your great content 👍🏻.
I really like the way the GT350 looks, but I’m personally more a GT500 kinda guy. Now would I want this over a Mach 1? I think I’d go Mach 1 and supercharge it. Why? Part of it is the sound, as I must be that one guy out there who doesn’t like the GT350 exhaust tone. The other part is that I don’t really want a car that you have to wind the engine to 8000 RPM to make max power. It’s just not my style. Note: I own a ‘21 GT500.
I mean the coyote isn't much different you gotta Rev it high to make power too. The Mach 1 is a loaded gt pp2 with a decal package. It's nowhere near as special and unique as a gt350 and it don't look as good either imo. Why not supercharge the gt350
@@midnight347 It does have the Tremec as opposed to the manual trans in the GT that’s made out of Chinesium, along with the nice rear spoiler if you order it. I’d much rather have a Mach 1 than a PP2 GT.
I own a 20 GT350 and I will tell you that I have Zero issues with the voodoo engine. No oil consumption whatsoever and my god is this thing a blast to drive.
All the gt350s ive seen recently are at least 15k miles and they are all 70k+ too expensive for most people and unfortunately any lower mile 350s at this point are gonna end up in rich peoples garages who will never drive them
Bought a 21 mach, boosted Whipple Stage 2, very fun car, didn't buy the gt350 with Oil consumption issues that many people claim, otherwise I would've bought the Gt350. Either way. Mach 1 still an awesome car!
I like the Shelby GT350. In my opinion it’s possible the best looking Mustang every built ( Bonestock). Unfortunately I haven’t had the pleasure of driving one, dealers in my area want a complete commitment to buy. I always say no drive, no buy.
Flat plane crank engines have vibration issues hence the cause of the oil filter backoffs....Chevrolet had the same problem when designing the new Z06 FPC
I have a 2017 R. Love driving this rare beast. Can’t see letting it go. What would I replace it with? The only other car is a Porsche north of $150k. No issues with oil consumption. Best sounding exhaust system!!!
Owner comment the only voodoo 5.2 that had filter issues was the 2016 build after 2016 the filter was converted to the internal cartridge just like gt500 oil filter. The other tip always let the engine warm to operating temperature oil must be 180 F or don't rev it wait be patient. The voodoo engine is designed loose on tolerance let it warm up tolerance come into spec at operating temp
If you are going to buy a gt350 used you need to make sure the last owner was always checking the oil. They are known for burning up esp the early cars and they hold 10 quarts. Can’t run low and you are also supposed to keep the revs low until the shell really warms up to like 180. There’s stories of them blowing up. The regular gt Coyote is more reliable overall esp the gen 3
I would pick the Mach 1 simply because it’s a better motor that’s proven and doesn’t have issues and is boost ready vs the 350 already screaming high compression na track focused. Love the look and used to want one but after doing research the design is a bit flawed and cost to much money to fix for real power numbers. The Mach is ready to rock.
Personally I would rather custom order a Mach 1 and get exactly what I want. You can buy them at MSRP regardless of what people say. You just have to order and wait. I think the GT350 is a cooler car and way more special. But the Mach 1 is just a more sound car in my opinion for long term ownership.
Hi Cool video, i have a 2019 350R with 4,800mi on it. Was thinking about getting a Whipple, but you’ve helped me change my mind. Thanks for the info. Jamie 🚀🇺🇸 Joshua Tree, Calif.
apparently the Mock 1 comes in a ten speed....... I had no idea that was the case. aside from a ten speed Mock 1 the GT350 is the the more powerful car to go with, that 5.2 Voodoo engine is a masterpiece in typical Ford fashion. At the end of the day you can't go wrong with either car.
The flat plane crank was the problem. Bad... vibration and balancing caused bearing wear ,vibrations that loosened oil filters and bad ring sealing + high oil consumption
Love the vid! Wish you had the MACH 1 next to the GT350 side by side comparison! We never got a cold start or no revs! Wanted to hear it rev to 7500rpm.
I just read that the new flat plane Z06 in testing, had the same problem with the oil filter backing off. Chevy decided to go with a cartridge type filter as a pre fix.
Had a GT350 and spun a bearing was under warranty. Ford replaced the engine and it did the same thing before it had 6000 miles on the new engine. Ford dropped another engine in it and I got rid of it. Bad luck I guess 🤷🏽♂️
Great video Bro. I love the GT350. My concern would be replacement parts since everything on it for the most part is unique to it and it's now a discontinued model. Like you said, that's the only model using the NA Voodoo 5.2.
In the end it's just a coyote based engine. There isn't anything truly unique to it outside the crank. The heads are shared with the gt500 I believe and it is also a 5.2 just different crank. It's a coyote based engines so alot of parts work for both.
@@midnight347 It's not what I heard. The Voodoo is a whole different platform. Some parts might work for both, but a lot won't. 5.2 vs 5.0 means a lot of things won't fit right. It's an expensive gamble if you need replacement parts in the future.
@@cmdrdredd I'm talking about basic physics. Bigger displacement means bigger dimensions on the engine block and the internals will most likely be different dimensions as well. I'm not talking about the chassis.
@@midnight347 If what your saying is true I wouldn't have to pay a minimum of $1800 for headers while 5.0 owners can buy $700 ones. Granted, the GT350 does share a majority of its general parts with a PP2 mustang.
2019 and 2020 voodoo motors can handle up to 12lbs of boost. They share engine components with the gt500 motor that make the engine able to handle boost
2020 Heritage GT350 #45. No drivetrain issues whatsoever. Absolute pleasure to drive. Likes 3500RPM or higher. The Ford Sync entertainment-Info system, on the other hand, sucks.

Not sure if the values will go up much higher unless I keep it longer term. Any advice?
Obviously the gt350 is a much better buy. The Mach 1 is just an alternative to the stock gt and I'd rather choose the gt over the Mach 1. The best are the gt500 and the roush!
We have had a few GT350's in the shop with blown engine. The tires are way expensive and don't last much more than 5000 miles. And if you had the R version the carbon fiber rims were easy to scratch and very few places wanted to change tires on it.
@@cmdrdredd yes you don't need to put the stock tires on it. We put different tires on one here and 2 days later he was back putting on the stock tires. Said it doesn't drive like it should. I think he drove it like he stole it. Traded it in after 20000 miles on it and got the GT 500

Your absolutely right. 13/14 gt500s are absolute street brawlers.
And the GT350 looks better. Front/rear fenders, hood, grill. It's special. Nothing against the Mach1, but looks wise it's pretty much just a GT with some badging. The 350 has different metal. I daily drive mine probably about 3 days a week with zero problems.
@@DragNetJoe the mach 1 is a gt350 with different aero and a gt coyote engine. same suspension as the gt350r and the same chassis and mostly same interior.

do you happen to know if yours was a gen 1 or gen 2 motor?
My 2018 engine exploded at 6k miles, threw all the rods out but had 100+ psi oil pressure.. ford bought it back no questions and I bought a 18k mile 2017 grabber blue and haven't had a single problem. Oil consumption is about a quart per 2k miles? Seems fine to me!

My 2018 has 21k miles with 2 track days and has been flawless. Love the thing
Most insane car from America besides the new Z06.
350 looks nicer, more exotic and will age like wine. BUT, it had its issues. Mach 1 is definitely the more reliable drivers car. And still looks good.
The Soundtrack of the GT350/R can’t be beat... The issues with the Voodoo are hit and miss! Mine has been Flawless! 🤙🤙😎

37k miles on my 2017. Runs hard every time I drive it. I always check the oil and watch the oil pressure. They’re great motors. Unlike any other V8 I’ve driven
I do agree with you, the Mustang GT350 is definitely better than the new Mach 1. Love your videos Racer X very informative.
Getting a gt350 with Gen2 motor solved many of the issues including getting the upgraded parts that they now use in the Gt500 motor. No one has a perfect engine without issues. As for boosting it, only needs a few modifications that you have done on your coyote. A Gt350 is meant to be N/A
In the market and the 19-plus GT350 seems to be the sweet spot. They're still MSRP, which is still a relative bargain for what it is.
Love my 2019 GT350. Absolute beast. Handling, comfort and looks are just flat out on another level!! Gen 2 Voodoo motor is the 350r motors with all the coolers. Shelby hands down!
Do 18s have the Gen 2? I heard that some of them have it?
I would say YES a GT350 is better than the Mach1. I think the Shelby will hold its value better also.
It's a loaded gt with a decal package and hand me down parts. Its nowhere near as cool as a gt350 imo.
@@midnight347 not nearly as cool but effectively just as fast if not faster, if you're buying to drive and enjoy it's an interesting comparison
I really wish I could have been able to purchase a 350R when they came out. Absolutely an amazing car.
2019 GT350 here. 6 different tracks, 10+ track days (3 of them in 110+ degree weather), 20+ canyon runs out here in California, 40,000+ miles and still going strong. Planning on taking her to Road America in Wisconsin and driving her back to California this summer.
I live in Wisconsin and still need to bring my 2018 to Road America. I'm going to put the ford catch cans on it then I might finally go.
@@RCXDerp Catch cans are a great idea...ive collected about a quarter of fluid in my passenger side catch can in the 40,000 miles ive driven it. I am going to the first track day in August at Road Americam hopefully see you there.
Gt350 are a hidden gems right now and gonna be very desirable in the future
Just bought my 2020 GT350 techpack car a few months ago, almost the same spec you are showing in the video. So far, it's been amazing! Fast, comfy when needed, very sticky. Vert track capable.
Glad your enjoying the car my friend
GT350 all day, no question here. we can come back to this in 10-20-30 years and we will see the Shelby's hold onto their value 100x better.
The 19-20 350’s have cartridge style oil filters along with many other motor upgrades to combat the issues the Gen 1 voodoo had.
The 2018 has the cartridge style filter too

Really hope dealers stop with the insane markups.
I daily / track a 350. It's better looking, sounds better, and is all around more badass. As a daily, the mach1 is probably a better car. The 350 is really a track car and is geared like it. The FPC combined with the gearing means you will be revving your ass off everywhere you go which can get annoying.
I’ve tracked both n spanked more 350 guys w mach than vice versa. Crazy how no one talks abt the handling ability and downforce of the M1’s gurney flap n the sicknPS2’s (over the much smaller 295/305 on 350)

@@midnight347 there have been documented engine failures with the 19 and 20 model year (Gen 2) as well. Some on the way home from the dealer after purchase. Including GT500’s. These engines are or were $25k to replace. I wouldn’t take that gamble out of warranty.
I still own a 2017 GT350. Only issue was with the A/C. No oil consumption, not loose oil filter, nothing else. It's an awesome car!!
GT350 was one of my dream car but I would still choose my Mach 1 over the GT350 just because of the spotty reliability of the voodoo engine .
Hardly spotty. Vert small percentage. Just regurgitated internet hype
@@poopscooper5038 I run HPDE's with a couple different Mustang clubs. Sadly it's not internet "hype". Now, some issues aren't gonna result in a blown motor, but when you're balls out on a track you don't have long before bad things happen.

Over time it’ll be seen that the Mach 1 will be the more reliable vehicle. Better handling and you can mod to out perform any Shelby..

What does having a track pack have anything to do with the engine blowing? The early engines had issues they resolved with the later gen 2 voodoo.

I haven’t drove either vehicle but I think the GT350 is the one the I will go for, like you said a very special car.

The answer is yes.
Feel really lucky to have gotten my 2020 GT350 New for 5K UNDER sticker. Right place right time.
The answer is yes. In every way, yes. The Mach-1 is meant to be an step down from the 350. It borrows most of the suspension but not everything.
That’s a bunch of crap 😂 they both can handle boost just fine.
Black gt350. Sick looking car
GT350 all day! Love mine!
The oil filter is changed on later built 2017 and up 350s. The new design is a cartridge filter and not a spin on. It doesn’t back out.

I wish I could afford one because I think it's going to be worth a ton in 20-30 years.
Used 350 vs New Mach1 - no brainer, 350 all day long. In my area, got a used R for less than ADM Mach 1 at same dealer.
Personally I would rather custom order a Mach 1 and get exactly what I want. You can buy them at MSRP regardless of what people say. You just have to order and wait. I think the GT350 is a cooler car and way more special. But the Mach 1 is just a more sound car in my opinion for long term ownership.
At that point just get a Camaro zl1 instead of a mach 1

apparently the Mock 1 comes in a ten speed.......
I'd rather hear it Rev to 8250 which is the gt350s stock redline.
@@midnight347true. I must’ve misheard him
I just read that the new flat plane Z06 in testing, had the same problem with the oil filter backing off.
@@thullraven1 what are you going to replace? It’s an s550 platform so every chassis part is the same as the GT/mach1.
They share engine components with the gt500 motor that make the engine able to handle boost
you the mann thank you for the videos
2020 Heritage GT350 #45. No drivetrain issues whatsoever. Absolute pleasure to drive. Likes 3500RPM or higher. The Ford Sync entertainment-Info system, on the other hand, sucks.
Does ford warrantying the engine problems? the 350. Has ford put a re-call for the gt350?
I have a 2019 GT350 in Ford Performance Blue with white stripes. It is a sick car. Bought it right before the pandemic shut down dealerships here in NY. The values are crazy right now and I'm considering selling it. I have 5,100 miles and cant find one on the internet for under 70k. Not sure if the values will go up much higher unless I keep it longer term. Any advice?
If your not using it, sell it. While the values may hold or go higher...the R's will be the ones highly sought after in the future.
Obviously the gt350 is a much better buy. The Mach 1 is just an alternative to the stock gt and I'd rather choose the gt over the Mach 1. The best are the gt500 and the roush!
I would like to see the 2018+ PP2 vs Mach 1 on track. 2018+ PP2 seems to me is the best bang for your buck.
I would take both 🚗🐺🐎💰🤣👍🏿🔥
Excellent video as always. I’d choose the Shelby if it had low miles. The Mach 1 is a nice vehicle nevertheless.
I got 67,000 on mine because (A). It's torqued to spec and (B). I'm not revving to the moon from a cold start, then acting innocent when I break it.
There's a all black one for sale where I'm drive by all time love it
We have had a few GT350's in the shop with blown engine. The tires are way expensive and don't last much more than 5000 miles. And if you had the R version the carbon fiber rims were easy to scratch and very few places wanted to change tires on it.
You don’t have to use the cup 2 tires you know. In fact almost nobody keeps them on for street driving. They are track tires.
@@cmdrdredd yes you don't need to put the stock tires on it. We put different tires on one here and 2 days later he was back putting on the stock tires. Said it doesn't drive like it should. I think he drove it like he stole it. Traded it in after 20000 miles on it and got the GT 500
@@dragvan1937 I hear the 500s go through tires much quicker all that weight and extra torque
My dream car for a long time was the Terminator Cobra. I almost bought one back in 2012 for $19000. Wish i would have. Anyway, When the GT350's came out, that became my dream car until I kept hearing about all the problems. I still love the way the car looks and sounds but i will never ever spend that kind of money for something that may blow up on me. The price of these cars has gone through the roof. I wouldnt even think of buying a 2016 GT350. I was going to save for a 2013 Shelby GT500 but im afraid the prices are just going to keep rising. I'd like to get one for around 50k or less if i could. I realize any car could blow up at any time but when is the last time you heard of a 2013 Shelby GT500 blowing an engine. I'd rather take my chances with the GT500. Hopefully I can find one that hasnt been modded all to pieces ...
