I agree. Vampires never really intrigued me in terms of gameplay, and the fact that you're weakened in sunlight? Eh, I'm running all over the place 24/7, that doesn't sound very appealing to me.
The volkihar clan has beast mode and some other abilities but they have the usual weakness to sunlight silver weapons and such but the Cyrodillic clan well fed with fresh blood can move freely in sunlight among other abilities such as if you feed on one racial type consistently your character will begin to show physical traits of that race maybe even gaining the abilities of that race, plus the Cyrodillic clan is more powerful than the beastial volkihar by moving undetected in high positions throughout the empire controlling political machinations by comparison that trump's vampire lord mode imo

I've always thought the silver hand to have been started by someone who climbed the ranks of the companions and was offered the beast blood but refused due to his own morals and then left the companions and started the silver hand to try and cleanse them of the werewolves and bring it back to how they use to be
So much for 'five hundred companions'. There's only like, seven people in the entire goddamn guild nowadays. So who's to say that 90% of them didn't leave over it?
Possibly the lycanthrope-version of Argonians. You can become a werewolf as an Argonian in-game, but it would make more sense for a reptilian creature to turn into a different, stronger type of reptile if infected with lycanthropy. The fact that they're supposedly live in Blackmarsh and southern Morrowind supports this. So it does sound quite plausible for me

The inspiration definitely comes from D&D. In the 1st AD&D Monster Manual alone, there were werewolves, werebears, weretigers, wereboars, wererats, weresharks, and jackalweres. And yes, you heard right. Not werejackals, jackalweres. They were jackals which turned into people, not people who turned into jackals.
I was most exited about the werevultures, I can't imagine being able to "fly" (if it was in the game it would probably be floating) and swoop down and attack your enemies. Sadly I don't see that ever being introduced.

I hope you have a vid on Argonians coming in the future. They are fascinating, and don't seem to be featured much; even less than Khajiits. Of course, this is a Nord land...
Here's one thing you may not know about Argonians. During the Oblivion Crisis, portals opened up all over Tamriel, not just in Cyrodiil. The Daedra voluntarily closed the portals in Black Marsh because the Argonians would enter the portals and fight the Daedra in Oblivion itself, basically invading Oblivion and defeating armies of Daedra. Kinda like the player character but on a much larger scale.
I wish they'd made the Companions questline longer and more complex in Skyrim... The Silver Hand was an interesting faction, but they're kind of brushed to the side for the most part as the villains.
Dragonborn:(Joins imperials and has lycanthropy) Imperial commander:Get that vermin’s head Nate:Quick join the hunters on solstiem (Dragonborn joins hunters and discovers 5 things about werewolves)
I love the fact that werebears and werewolves are in open war with each other. It's a lovely little nod to DnD, and I always appreciate that. For those who aren't aware, in DnD, for most editions anyway, I won't speak for all of them, werewolves are evil creatures degraded by a curse and become more and more violent and animalistic over time, whether transformed or not. Werebears on the other hand are lawful good by nature, and generally speaking take it upon themselves to not only prevent the spread of their own curse to the innocent, they oppose lycanthropy wherever they encounter it. Basically werewolves almost always give into their curse after a long enough time, depending on the individual it may take longer, because it's a malicious curse and is born from vengeance or violence, depending on how you get it. Werebears on the other hand maintain a strong sense of self and duty, because their curse is much more benevolent, and could even be considered a blessing from a nature god to make them better guardians of the land, depending on setting and the traditions of the pack. The only major exception in most cases are natural born lycanthropes. They tend to have a lot more moral grey area, and adapt better to the beast blood because it was a circumstance of their birth, not retaliation for misdeeds or because of a traumatic attack. And for DMs out there that hate how black and white the alignments tend to be, as I used to be in this case, also consider that evil people are considerably more likely to become werewolves in the first place. To be a first or second generation werewolf, you would have to do something so terrible that someone cursed you, you had it forced upon you in the worst moment of your life and it ruins your life forever, or you were raised by pretty horrible people who suffered the above. It's hard to imagine a lycanthrope who isn't a terrible person until you get to at least the third generation, if not fourth or fifth. Werebears get to just be awesome though
Well, congratulations, Nate! You finally got me. I was completely unaware of the theory about the Silver Hand being a splinter group of the Companions, as well as the fighting between Werewolves and Werebears on Solstheim. @@scarfhero2073 - I personally would love to see Weresharks. However, I know that is unlikely. They'll probably have Werewolves, because they've become kind of expected in TES games now. And they'll probably have Wereboars to some capacity, even if they're just NPCs like the Werebears of Skyrim. After that, they may start to think they'd be overloading us with Werebeasts. The one place I thought would be most likely to have more Werebeasts is in The Elder Scrolls Online. I actually like the theory that there is more to the Silver Hand than we get told, and that they might be more than just menacing beast-hunters, but it makes me laugh that they would be so upset that the descendants of Yssgramor's Companions sport the curse of a Daedra when Yssgramor himself was no saint, and probably firmly in the control of the dragon cult. They want the ax that literally crushed an entire breed of elf, but fear that the Companions are tainted with lycanthropy. And maybe they won't go to Sonvgarde; that's too bad for Nords, but then maybe they won't get eaten by Yssgramor's master, ad Alduin seems to use Sovngarde, andcthe souls of the honored dead, as his larder. I don't know ifvsouls under Hircine are actually destroyed, or if he just keeps recycling them fir future hunts, but that might still be preferable to being eaten by the World Eater?
While I was playing vanilla Skyrim, I killed a Silverhand member and found a Skyforge steel sword on him. That's when it first hit me that they were once a part of the Companions but did not agree with the beast blood. I think it would add to the confusion and panick of being a werewolf, where you actually need to track the moon and prepare for the change and either lock yourself up, go somewhere distant or medicate yourself and sleep through it.

Possibly the lycanthrope-version of Argonians.

That game could get away with having as many lycanthropes as they want, and yet they've limited themselves to just Werewolves. I do hope they at least add others, even if they're just skins.

I think it would add to the confusion and panick of being a werewolf, where you actually need to track the moon and prepare for the change and either lock yourself up, go somewhere distant or medicate yourself and sleep through it. If you get lazy and forget you might try to fast travel and not realize that fast travel covers the full moon and awaken somewhere along the path in a monstrous rage, or be deep in a dungeon and just wig out in the middle of a quest.
I want actual CONSEQUENCES for being a MONSTER!
Dude try moonlight tales, it adds some of those things. I've also heard of an extension of the mod that adds something where you become uncontrollable if you kill/feed too much in beast form
@@pagananikey *Me casually eats popcorn while my character just kills everything without me touching the keyboard*
@@pagananikeycan confirm good mod, there's a separate mod I think that changes the appearance too so you can even be a wearbear with different colours fur (Xbox, PC id imagine is way better)
Me before every Nate video:
“Pfft. why don’t you “tell” me something I didn’t know about skyrim”
Me after the video:
“oh neat. I didn’t know that about skyrim”
Keep up the good work my man.
In ESO the werewolf quest is so fun. Having to get bitten by another player, going on a hunt to assert your lycanthropy. So fun.
I'm pretty sure I've seen the book "On Lycanthropy" in the Skyrim game. I once made a point to gather one of every book in Skyrim to make use of the useless house library in the Hearthfire DLC. But I could be mistaken... which is unfortunately very likely in my case.
Twenty7Sins yea u have playing Skyrim rn after that ac release trailer announcement 🙏🏽 seen it recently but can’t remember which town/area exactly maybe try the bards collage or winter hold?
i collected books too. would just grab books i thought i didnt have yet just to find out i already had a copy. a lot of them were pretty interesting.
i only know of practicalities of werewolves and lycanthropic legends of skyrim you probably have one of the two.
Source: i went into Apocrypha around 30 times looking to find any books i was missing (they generate there).
I also made a library couldn't help myself your comment actually made me go back there and look around i had them ordered monster information, skilling books, spell tomes, scrolls etc.
There's also the book "The Hunt of Hircine" (or something like that) and the book about Hircine's Totem, Maybe a book on Werebear as well.
@@Balila_balbal_loki Yeah, it's plausible. Like I said, I possibly could be remembering wrong. I know some of the DLCs introduced new books and such, but felt that it may be a chance i was mistaking it for something else.
