    I have these headphones and sent them to Sonarworks to get a custom EQ profile for them and boy are they AMAZING! Definitely the best headphone investment I’ve ever made. Now I can fully trust them for mixing in the box exclusively if need be.

      Ahh, that's very interesting! I've never explored Sonarworks myself. What is that process like?

    • @123ATank
      @123ATank Рік тому +1

      @@MasterMarslander it’s a pretty easy process, you just pay to mail it to them and they ship it back with a calibration number you put in Sonarworks SoundID when you get them back. I recommend letting your headphones fully burn in before sending so all the bass and treble sounds the way it should. Probably takes 100 hours or more depending on the headphones, but out of the box they sound cheap and metallic but that’s normal and they really open up later on. Now with them being customized, they sound even better. Sonarworks really did a great job for my pair.

    I demoed the flagship edition 15, they are nearly $4000 in my country. They were marked down to $2000, so I tried them in the store. Sound was interesting, but the pads felt like wearing two bricks on my head.

    Dang, that unboxing got me pretty hyped for these. Then you mentioned it's pretty much all plastic and my excitement quickly went downhill from there. Did you try putting them over a yoga brick to help with the clamp force? Have you heard of people removing that plate to get rid of their S-Logic and seeing if that helped anything? And I think the new mic is pretty snazzy!

    Pair them with a FiiO K5 with the correct drivers downloaded from the manufacturer's website. All problems you mention in your video disappear. Sound becomes so clean you can raise the volume to the point it is unbearable but without any distortion. Voice brought forward and takes the centre stage, mids very present, bass boominess gone. Linear bass extention and midbass tamed "a lot". It all falls into place. Oh, I also changed the pads for some thick oval micro suede Brainwavz to open up the soundstage and for comfort.

    I have the Signature Master, and even if it doesn't have the same sound signature than your Pulse, I totally agree with you. Despite reading dithyrambic reviews on Head-fi, I can't ignore the agressiveness of the Master.
    For sure, this is one the most sibilant Ultrasone i've never had. (I had all the HFI line, all the Pro's, Edition M, some Performance except the 860, and the Signature Pro). It's like a mega HFI-780, with high peaks at 7Khz and 11Khz and a small weakness in the lower midrange. Bass is slightly rolled-off too.
    Yeah these have soundstage, deepness, realistic mids, details and overhelming dynamic, but the highs are wayyy too loud and agressive. Fortunately, it plays very loud without clipping, unlike other Ultrasone.
    Oh, and comfort is terrible. :)
    To me the Signature Pro is more linear, more listenable (just better imo), at the cost of a smaller soundstage.

      hey did you ever try the Edition 11? I was able to demo many of the signature line and didn't really like any of them, but the 11 was quite interesting with the wider soundstage and bass

    I agree that most ultrasones are extremely amp dependant, thats why most people have a bad impressions and give up on them…

    I was interested in that s-logic tech but more likely in their "edition" series yet it looks like nobody like ultrasone sound xD so I gave up

    Do you think it is possible to stretch out the headphone by putting them on a block to reduce the clamp force?

    • @MasterMarslander
      @MasterMarslander  9 місяців тому

      That would probably help a little, but it would take some time to loosen up. It is very stiff.

    So I don't believe in burn in really, but I have seen enough reviews on ultrasone products now to make me wonder if it depends on the manufacturer. Many people gave up on ultrasone because of harshness or wonky sound signatures, there are some famous videos of this on youtube. But others put them on burning rigs and walked away for 100 hours and said something changed. I find myself interested in ultrasone stuff mainly because I wonder who is buying these [are there that many DJs out there still?] and demoing them in stores, marveling at amount of stock stores have for them at still insanely inflated prices..... Have you tried any other ultrasones?

    • @MasterMarslander
      @MasterMarslander  Рік тому +1

      I haven't tried any others, no. I can try a thorough burn in and see if it changes my mind about anything. I would love there to be something. As much as it might seem that I didn't like the signature Pulse, I do find it very charming, and I appreciate them trying something different.

      @@MasterMarslander Yea might be worth a try. I demoed the Edition EX closed back because they were trying to sell the demo unit, and it was crazy warm and bassy, like tubes on steroids. But reviews online mention that they are bright and some said harsh even, it makes me wonder if the signature changed from burn in and pad wear in, because the demo unit I tried had pads that were really worn out. Still, seems weird it would make that much of a difference...

    I have owned and have regularly utilized an Ultrasone headphone for about 23 years. From tremendous experience with an Ultrasone headphone, I adamantly and completely disagree with your opinion generally about your opinion of Ultrasone Headphones, although I have never heard the specific Ultrasone Headphone you discuss in this video.
    As a highly experienced user of an Ultrasone Headphone, a couple of ideas come to mind regarding the problem with the sound characteristics of the specific Ultrasone headphone you have been reviewing. From your description, I would guess the Ultrasone headphones you reviewed have not been sufficiently "burned in".
    Ultrasone Headphones need to be played for at least 48 to 72 hours before the absolutely wonderful Ultrasone sound quality is audible.
