Just got a pair, already own the standard edition 8. Edition 8 are my favorite closed headphones, absolutely fantastic aggressive headphones and they are stunning to look at too.
I have edition 8 original for 8 years. Even with first edition your head size and ear size are very important.. everything Your describing is on the money... if you have a big head and big ears don’t even bother, you won’t get a consistent seal.. I am still very happy with my edition 8 and the service provided from Ultrasone. Although the $2,100 is way too high
The demo unit in a store near me put these on sale for 750USD. They originally cost over 2000USD, so I tried them out. I wonder if the burn in issue continues, because they were insanely bassy and warm. Could have been the amp, they only let me use a Beyerdynamic a20 to test them, but I can't imagine the amp and streaming amp affecting it . Thing is I am into warm and bassy sound signatures, but it was almost too much. Sadly the demo unit was so beat up I didn't want to get it, but Ultrasones seem to be massively discounted these days so maybe in the future...

Thank God it's normal shape headphones. Not that weird looking most expensive Sennheiser HD820 cost USD 4K
