@MiBUNNY168 honestly, I think the FT1 would be a better fit than either the FT1 Pro or DT1990 mk2 for casual gaming and movies. Great sound stage, punchy and extended lowend, and really good imaging. Unless you just really want an open back.

@shammaideen6628 Welcome to the hobby! The earpads are over-ear, so they fit around your ears. I also have somewhat larger ears, and I don't find them uncomfortable. The good news is that the pads are easy to remove and replace, so if you don't like how the pads fit, you can replace them with larger pads. This will have an impact on the sound, but in most cases, it can be worth it. Open back headphones do leak out sound. This is purposeful to allow sound to breathe naturally. If you are sitting close to someone with open back headphones, they will be able to hear what you are listening to. If you need a headphone that doesn't leak sound then you might be better off with a closed back headphone, in which case I reccomend you watch the video on the FT-1. Excellent closed back headphone.

Hope I can get a chance to go to the 2025 show too. The kid will be about 8 or 9 months old by then, so we'll see!

It's the headphone vent at the top of the cup as GadgetryTech showed. I'm sure FiiO will replace them but meanwhile if it disturbs a lot I guess you could stick some blutak to make it stick into place avoid rattling.

@@RPGWiZaRD nope that’s not the problem on my copie, I knew about the vent problème and did try to block the vent, but there is really a loose piece of something in the inside of the left ear up

I think you meant the ATH-M50X? If so, I definitely prefer the FT-1. I actually prefer the M40X in the ATH lineup, but even then would choose the FT-1 over the M40X.

Yes thr bluetooth one version 2 that one actually was so much fun that its in my wishlist for 2025 but thanks to you the FIIO is coming from China since last week in walnut

I'm considering speding no more than 500 bucks on either a complete DAC/AMP stacks (ex. d50iii+a500iii stack or ifi zen dac 3 +zen can 3 stack) or the hifiman ef499 (used) and the FT1 pro. I'm using the fiio FT1 atm, and still new to the hobby. Could you give me some advice?

@widarta7 true, but to be fair it was totally unused until i started this whole audio thing. In retrospect I probably should of started a new channel, but thems the cards.

He mentions that these are V-Shaped and going off of what Fiio has made in this price bracket before I'm thinking they're aiming for a "fun" signature versus a more neutral one that would help with M&M. At that price, look for a used HD600 or something in the AudioTechnica line, but if you're looking exclusively for planars that becomes a little more difficult at that price bracket. If you're comfortable with the design, maybe some IEMs would be better/more cost effective for that purpose.

I'll be able to tell you soon, have the Edition XS right here, just waiting for it's turn. Will point out though that the Edition XS is $500 MSRP, so well over twice the price as the FT-1 Pro... as long as the XS isn't on sale, anyway.

i owned both and the ft1 pro sound similar without the driver buzz issues the Hifimen all have apparently (i never got a unit that wasn't buzzing)

Correct, the SM57 is XLR only and would require an audio interface. PD400X can be used just USP, plug and play. Definitely one of the best USB mics I've heard - but, spoiler alert, I just got in another Maono mic I'm testing out this weekend. We'll see how it goes!

I have the edition xs, I love them but I still might get the ft-1 pro

sounds similar to the Edition XS with less QC issues.

@alphariusomegon8507 yes. The closed back FT-1 would be great for casual and cinematic gaming, and the FT-1 Pro would be great for slightly more competitive gaming.

@MasterMarslander yep. Are not the same. Look for the leather connection. On the FT1 it's on the front and FT1 Pro on the bottom where the connectors are. Also FT1 Pro has 2 side that are more thick on the pads and are not flat as the FT1s.
