The steel helmet actually was quite a precise replica of the WWII German M40 "Stahlhelm" Helmet, in fact it looked as if the thickness of the steel was similar to the original. As some metal detectorists proved by finding originals, those didn't stop a bullet as well - they, as the kevlar helmets used by the German Army of today, were designed to deflect stray shrapnel and ricocheted bullets and protect from everything that has the ability to fall down on the soldiers 😂
so basically both this helmet and the M40 weren’t made to stop a actual bullet and were made to just lightly protect the users head from scars i love german engineering lol
@bluscout1857 EVERY helmet, that doesn't belong to a juggernaut- or bomb suit doesn't stop rifle bullets. Imagine carrying a weight of at least 5kg, what a ballistic helmet would weigh, at all times.. It would have to be made of quite a thick layer of steel.

I was going to comment something similar. Namely that 24 joules is pellet-gun levels of energy. Then again, I read an anti-gun paper once that claimed a .177 pellet gun firing at 1100 fps was "as powerful as a .45 handgun." So by that logic, the vest should be able to stop a .45!

Probably true
Lmao na that’s just him bro
Bro I was just thinking about that
"The turrets fire the whole bullet, so there is 65% percent more bullet!" -Cave Johnson, Aperture Science Military Grade turret advertisement.
From a company that sells women’s shorts that literally have a special fart vent sewn into them.... I’m not surprised of anything they produce anymore.
Hi, mat, great to see you here. BTW, can you link me to the fart-vent shorts? Just curious.
God that’s disgusting 🤢
What they called tho?
noway.a fart vent??? is this genius or total crap idk🤔wish😂🤦
They even sell shit
...like 'em sanitary napkins in vending machines?
Matt's logic: maybe the bullet isn't hot this time?
Ken: why can't you be the test dummy?
We need a compilation of every time Matt picks up a bullet and goes “ow, hot!”
Fr😂
Listen, I dont have six months to spend watching a single video
😂😂😂
I thought the same think that was what three or four times in a single video
Yessir
Can we take a second and appreciate how great his aim is!
"Can withstand 24 Joules of Kinetic Energy"
a 9mm has 467 Joules of energy
My thoughts exactly.
That's pellet rifle territory
So this is useless practically.. like in airsoft that is way to much. Bruh no one shooting more than 3-4 joules. And a 9 mil has 467... useless..
Maybe it was meant for BB gun
at least it came with a knock off Stahlhelm
So I’m guessing this is the intro Meredith laughed at
Ha yeah
1:00 my family anytime I trip on something
Your pic is cute
Hahahahha you beat me to it. But seriously If that don’t make you laugh you may not have a soul

The intro is one of the funniest things I've ever seen
Mats intros have devolved to a crazy man screaming in the woods by himself
His brother is behind the camera. I hope he showed concern after recording that intro. 😁😆

one of the armour plate's slogan was "buy it and protect yourself", not buy it TO protect yourself, implying you have to do that yourself lol
Imagine you walking around the forest then you see a guy laughing crazy
After hearing gunshots.
Damnnnn........that would be scary
Just imagine that same guy walking back and forth around a table talking to himself

Run away from there as fast as possible , lol
My first time watching this channel and never laughed harder at anything in my life more than the plate flying out every time you shot it
I know it's not Dragon Skin....but when are you shooting the shoulder armor I sent???
he is probably planning a video around it. I would bet maybe within 5 videos he would get to it
Hell I bet he lost it by accident lol, he'll find it in some random box a year from now when he starts moving into his mansion.
The fact that he said he doesn't have any currently makes me think your package went MIA or overlooked mate.
Funny seeing you here. Been subbed for several years. Excited to see the armor tested
I'm excited to see your armor on DemoRanch!
Pov: you're witnessing Matt's slow descend into madness in every intro
Hot lead
“exists”
mat: “oooooo shiny!!!”
"Oh it's hot!" - Matt, still surprised after all this time...
I ordered something from Wish and 6 years later I’m still waiting for it to be delivered!

1:47 a 9mm 115 grain bullet travelling at 1,180 feet per second/360 meters per second produces 481 Joules of energy. the vest shown at the beginning can only withstand "24 Joules"
9mm parabellum is used as a "control" assuming that most americans will be carrying an 9mm pistol.
2:38 a 30-06 150 gr bullet @ 400 yrds produces 1,636 joules of kinetic energy.
as a general rule, military helmets are not designed to withstand even small calibre bullets. their main purpose is to protect the head of a user from fragments and debris.
nice video. :)
The reason why it passed their tests is because no one lived through the test to tell otherwise, therefore it works. :)
