That sounds fun. Nothing like spending quality time with the kid!
When you do these trips on the CT River, do you bring water for cooking/drinking? While the surroundings look natural, I'm wondering if agricultural run-off or other issues make the river difficult to treat for drinking/cooking along the way? Thanks for your help with this. Until next time...be well.
On this trip I did bring water to drink. I freeze water in bottles to keep my food cold in the cooler. As the ice melts I drink the water. It is a system that works pretty well, but heavy. My concern about the river this time around was the flooding. The river was very high a month ago. I was concerned about some of the sewage that was reportedly swept into the river.
To my surprise the river was quite clean. And cold!!!! By the last day of the trip I was filtering water from the river to drink. It was fine.
Thanks for your reply. I've done the frozen water bottle trick for years. I used to guide in the Adirondacks and that allowed me to have good cold water for folks on those particularly hot summer days. Glad to know the Connecticut is clean enough that standard filtering will work. @@ItsGoodintheWoods
