I love the concept of "finding" adventures. Most people want to "go" on adventures, like finding a new place or area to explore. But when you say "finding adventures", its different. Finding adventures in places you have already explored and know about. I often go back to the forests and streams I would play in as a kid, and its always a unique experience when I go back because I am gaining new perspectives. Love the way you tell your stories.
Its a shame where I had adventures when I was a kid are not possible to explore as an adult. Funny how being a child the world is basically given to you in every way possible then once you reach adult hood seems like the world is shut off to you in almost every way.
@@fishinwithish i think it's all about your view. As you age your imagination and drive dies down. You need to force yourself to go out of your comfort zone and re inventing new adventures. You still have it in you, you just gotta dig a bit buddy
This film and Beau's walking commutes inspired me to give my on-foot commute a go. Preferring to avoid the highway I made a 24 mile route on mostly trail and ran home after a day's work just a few weeks ago. It took me about 4 hours and the wildflowers were stunning!
Imagine if Beau walked into the office while everyone was there, covered in mud, dragging a filthy kayak behind him. They would have all looked at him and said to themselves "yep, typical Beau"
I didn't do something this extreme, but just started biking to work over the last 2 months. It's made the experience of going to work a lot more enjoyable. I'm no longer on autopilot during my commute. I start to notice many small things in the neighborhood that I usually miss. By the time I get to work, I'm more awake, alert, and in a better mood. The commute home is where it starts to get fun. I'm off in the early afternoon and the routes home are endless. Do I go for a nice cruise along the ocean? Make a huge climb up the mountain take some dirt/gravel trails? Ride along the reservoir? Typing this got me thinking of a video for you. You have done car, walk, and now kayak to work, why not bike? Now the time to get to work isn't going to be anywhere near as long as those last two, but what if you showed you can change your commute through nice detours or sights you want to see. Show that your commute doesn't always have to be on paved roads or the shortest routes.
I can't believe that it is already two years since I've watched this film for the first time. I've saved it actually, as a reminder of what our adventures should be all about. A mix of hard effort, seeing the world around us for what it is, and sucking up things that are out of our control. I'll most probably come back here to reflect some more. Great job and insights in this film Beau.
When I was 9-10 my aunt and uncle build a small raft with me. We went down the river that flows along our village. A couple years later I went fishing there with my neighbour (ca.50yo). He wanted to show me where the river runs deep and where the fishes stay and hunt. I could tell he was wrong and showed him a couple of really deep parts that I discovered with my aunt and uncle. I could tell him where the river had formed hidden caves under the embankment and how the ground was shaped like. Traveling down the river once had shown me much more about it than just walking along it for 30years. Great video, greetings from germany.
I work in a bush crew and most of the time my job involves me trying to clean up creeks and rivers. The fact that not many people know the true health of our waterways is astonishing. Thank you for making this film and shining a spotlight on the health of these Ecosystems. You're an absolute inspiration. Keep doing the good work.
"Pushing and pulling myself through a place that's usually a blur in my window, has reinvented this place I thought I knew." Don't know why, loved this line. Usually I too love walking instead of taking car or public transport. And when you walk, you notice every single detail on the route. When you drive, all you experience is either google map or irritating other drivers who think traffic rules are not made for them.
This man knows how to make the most life affirming films. A sense of wonder so well communicated that you can't help but reset your own notion of what basic life can offer. Thank you Beau.

You are the reason I fell in love with walking again. After binge-watching your videos, my urge for adventure awoke in me. I've been on 4 bush walks and have walked over 20 km in the last few months. I've seen more of our beautiful country in the last few months than I have in years. She has such a pretty face when you see her without the makeup we've put on her. Thank you.

I did something like this once when I was a kid. My dad took me and my brother out, and we canoed from a small river out into the bay. We had to go under bridges and through storm drains could barely fit through. It was a lot of fun. One really memorable part was a storm drain we all had to lay down in the canoe to pass through. I remember being inches away from the top of the storm drain, and it was covered in spider webs too.

Even a tiny kayak has to be portaged much of the way until you get near the ocean. Makes you appreciate just how important water conservation is down under

What an exceptional film Beau, seriously, you re-invigorate the backyard adventurer in me. Makes me grateful that I won't be living and studying in the city forever.
The past few weeks I have gone in a 45 minute radius of where I live. I found out that I am so close to so many wonderful Hiking trails and views! You really don’t need to travel hundreds of miles for adventure.
I just completed the 2021 Mile Pottsburg Paddle Challenge I began January 1st and took 116 days. Some endeavors are taken up just because...it was one of those. No sponsors no prize money and very few even knew what I was doing.... I knew...and I cared whether or not I completed my challenge. So many things I learned about myself...my "friends" and associates and my community. The body aches and pains the sights and sounds and wildlife encounters are memories I will have forever. I love the look on someone's face when I tell them what I was doing... ...and for the last 2 weeks I am the guy that did it....2021 miles on Pottsburg Creek. I was inspired to attempt it by watching your adventures...thanks mate.
Perfect timing for this film - just read this section in your book (signed copy - brilliant!). How to make the best of a bad situation ‘the best thing about only one mosquito in your bivi - he can only take so much!’ Great outlook on life.
Beau, this is brilliant. This is downright inspiring. Your bravery and will to adventure is unmatched, far as I could tell. Your videos always leave me with a sense that I haven't truly lived. You are living. And it's not all about exotic locations and novel experiences - but rather about reinventing the mundane and extracting such beauty and deep insight out of suffering. Love your work, Beau. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family with good health and you with an abundantly rich life full of meaningful adventures.
Listening to the summit, arctic, remote landscapes tourism that is filled with jet fuel and tons of gear but sold with pristine spaces makes Beau's adventure commutes seem more real and raw. We could all use a walk through our own backyards.
@@constancemiller3753 in the last few weeks before i left my old city i found countless spots i've never been in before. most of the time on my bicycle because i was moving slower and looking around.
Legend! I once paddled 6hrs to work, and camped out in the bush for the week then paddled back home at the end of it. Your videos were some of the best motivation for me in the times that I doubted myself before the adventure!
Overused phrase; "inspirational". Definitely applies to you, Beau. Not the whole motivation, but certainly an influence; I quit where I lived and moved to a Scottish island. 5 walk (towing a kayak) to the lochside. Even a one hour paddle takes me to new interesting vistas, every time. Walk from my door over ancient hummocky landscapes, spot signs of otters, and just breath.
Your videos are really inspiring. I started to look at the water ways in my own "backyard" and it´s quiet an adventure to wander through a dry riverbed. Thank you!
Beau, I am hooked, I have to say your content is amazing. It is inspiring, and sobering all in the same segment. I am one of the lucky ones who still has many videos to watch, as I am only 5-6 videos in. Have to say thankyou, this video and another one of paddling a different river, actually was the reason today while walking across a parking lot, I picked up a small bit of trash sitting on the ground and deposited it into the bin. Thankyou for what you are doing, don't stop. Cheers from Canada.

Favorite quote from this installment of Beau: "that's what our lives become, we become this squiggle of lines or straight lines that trail behind us as we travel through life."
I love the world you create for yourself. And your attitude created from testing yourself, connecting back into your environment and see life as black and white, but always aim for the white. Seeing the world for its hidden and ignored beauty but highlighting more importantly that Water is Life. But we are shittin in our own bath. So insightful of the ignorance of humanity. Also, now I think I understand my husband's need to drive different routes on his 5 mile commute to work or a trip to the grocery store.
Hey Beau I just wanted to say your videos have really helped me over this last few months battling drug and alcohol addiction. I get such a sense of inspiration and happiness from your videos that it brings me back to my childhood. Anyway mate keep up the awesome work might see you out there oneday
Beau: 2 pointless conversations.
2 Coworkers: Aww, man, I subscribed and everything.
Call your boss and tell him "I'm gonna be a bit late to work."
"How late?"
"Four days, give or take."
What an exceptional film Beau, seriously, you re-invigorate the backyard adventurer in me. Makes me grateful that I won't be living and studying in the city forever.
Why not have a backyard adventure in your city?
The past few weeks I have gone in a 45 minute radius of where I live. I found out that I am so close to so many wonderful
Hiking trails and views! You really don’t need to travel hundreds of miles for adventure.
When I see you posted a video, it's like a re-set to remind me just what it is like to be inspired creatively and in lifestyle.
I just completed the 2021 Mile Pottsburg Paddle Challenge
I began January 1st and took 116 days.
Thats sick
@@koenskills6796 Thank you very much coincidentally I just paddled 16 miles there yesterday.
_Pushing and pulling myself through a place that's usually just a blur in my window, has reinvented this place I thought I knew._
If UA-cam had an award system, you'd get my vote Beau!
"Your carbon footprint goes through the roof, just so you can go find yourself somewhere else." That really struck me.
Climbing is also a form of greed" Tengbonche Riponche sort of the same theme. He was talking about Everest.
@@letsallbe-friends1120 ambition, nor the human condition, was his context.

He'll yeah. I needed this right now.
Agreed. He will, indeed, yeah.
Legend! I once paddled 6hrs to work, and camped out in the bush for the week then paddled back home at the end of it. Your videos were some of the best motivation for me in the times that I doubted myself before the adventure!
I worked for Melbourne water and always drained * dreamed *of doing some like this. UA-cam gold!
The legend is back for another masterpiece!
That drone shot with the stingrays was beautiful
Everything about this is amazing...
These videos make me rethink my surroundings. A simple commute turns into so much more when you look closely. Thanks, Beau for this powerful video.
Good do see adventure can be found so close to home. Thanks for showing us Beau!
Wow, that was so much more than I expected. I will never complain about a bad day on one of my trips. EVER again.
Beau, thank you for sharing your beautiful, creative and absolutely innovative storytelling. Watching your channel has been absolute pleasure. I’m looking forward to seeing your channel grow. Your camera crew is killer.
I get excited like a little schoolgirl when I see Beau posting a new video!
Favorite quote from this installment of Beau:
"that's what our lives become, we become this squiggle of lines or straight lines that trail behind us as we travel through life."
May the lines of your life be extra squiggly.
Meanwhile, his neighbours are like - "Keith.. He's at it again"
Indeed! There is a Keith down the road actually. Spot on.
@@BeauMiles 😂
I did not expect to see my name in the comment section xD
Your backyard is all you need for an adventure. Love this
I love the world you create for yourself. And your attitude created from testing yourself, connecting back into your environment and see life as black and white, but always aim for the white. Seeing the world for its hidden and ignored beauty but highlighting more importantly that Water is Life. But we are shittin in our own bath. Thank you for taking us on your journey, and being an inspiration to our journey.
You are the spirit animal of the concept of adventure mate! I love this and every piece you make. Cheers!
Every one of your videos is an inspiration to get out and see the world. Even if you only make it a mile.
Gorgeous and thought provoking as usual Beau. Love your work soooooo much. Thank you for continuing to bring your moments of joy and love for life to us.
“I’m earning my opinions” I love that phrase
Better than any Discovery channel survival show episode, ever.
Farmer yells out to the bloke paddling down the river that runs through his paddock.
"What you doing down there mate?"
Beau - "Going to work mate!"
Beau does all the things I fantasize about doing. I'm continually inspired to do stuff instead of just thinking about it when I watch a Beau movie.
Great vid Beau, as an avid kayaker myself I appreciate how hard you would have worked getting that done! Grit - you got it dude.
I have never seen anyone utilise the ability to story tell through videos and words as well as you. No words can explain the beauty of these projects, the way thoughts are provoked and perspectives are distorted in such elegance, congratulations to you for refining and mastering your own art, with millions of people benefitting as a result.
My grandfather was a “bushie” and your stories and adventures remind me of the stories he used to tell me as a small child. Thank you for bringing back all the wonderful memories.
“I can get to work via the very water that falls on my roof” I love that!
This was nice. I lay on my bed with my little daughter and even littler son snuggled up on my shoulders and we just listened and watched together. Thanks Beau. Hope the hemoglobin level got higher (or lower, depending on whether it was too low or too high). Haha cheers mate. Looking forward to the next movie already!
I love this, and I love your personality and wit! You look at every obstacle through the purest optimistic lense! Thrill seeking is not for the faint of heart but you make it look so enjoyable. Peace and safety to you, mate.
I listened to a few of your videos that I had downloaded for my first ever backpacking trip. 8-days in the wilderness, with some Beau Miles to watch when feeling down…. It was truly one of the most magical experiences I have had yet. Thank you for your amazing content 🙏🏻
Just stole the milk and had himself a treat at the end. No one there to stop him.
Good job
