    its crazy how restricted bikes are now a days. Back in the day it was almost unheard of to get 10whp out of a bike unless you open the motor up. Now a simple flash to get rid of restrictions is 30-75whp. Thats crazy!

      Actually you’d get a pretty good bump with just an exhaust and jetting because the factory exhaust didn’t flow great and the jetting matched the exhaust flow. I remember seeing 10+ with just an exhaust and jetting on a 2002 Kawasaki zx9r

      A number of bikes from 20+years ago could jump over 20hp with a tuned exhaust, carb jetting and airbox mods.

    Lamborghinis and the new corvette have a flat plane crank shaft, which is why they have a high pitch sound… like most inline 4 bikes have. The R1 is different bcz it has a cross plane crank shaft like a muscle car. Yamaha deemed it superior to the flat plane crank for its firing order allowing better grip coming out of corners.

    I’ve got a 2021 R1M, from what I’m told the manufacturer told the dealership that only 1400-ish total were made in 2021 but it’s uncertain because less were made in 2021 due to parts shortages. They said for any year model of R1M it’s under 2000 total units made and nobody I know has seen a badge that has over the #2000. I was also told only the top end dealerships in each state that make the most sales get to order these bikes in for their inventory. I went to the largest Yamaha dealership in Texas that had the highest sale rate in the state and they only were allowed to order 1 R1M for the entire year period. They also have a couple hundred R1M’s every year that go to other countries to the dealerships with the highest sale rates. So it’s not many, it was an absolute pain to get mine, but talking power wise I was told they have slightly different tuning from factory which is why they come out more powerful. It’s been proven by many tuners that they are different in power/torque than the base R1.

    I had a 2005 R1 that I bought new, and was totally stock. I put it on a dyno, and it made 152hp. Funny thing was that another guy there that day had an identical bike except that his had a full aftermarket exhaust, K&N filter, and a ecu upgrade of some sort. His bike made 153hp. Lol
    BTW, I MUCH prefer the sound of the older R1's with their traditional firing order.

    I think you may have misspoke about crossplane engines and the unique sounds. The newest Corvette is going flat-plane, Ferrari has used flat-plane, McLaren uses flat-plane, other examples are out there. Standard inline-4 engines are flat-plane and the R1 is one of the few exceptions, with a cross-plane crank it has some of the characteristics of an American V8 engine (not a Shelby GT350 or the coming Corvette). Also the R1 has a similar firing interval to a V4 without the need to arrange the cylinders in that manner. R1 sounds similar to the RSV4 for example. But even so, some V4 engines can sound pretty bland and unlike convention (VFR1200 for example). Whether the cylinders are inline or splayed out, crankshaft crank pins can be arranged in unique ways and the sound pattern entering our ears reflects this. GSX-R1000 vs R1. Vmax vs Panigale V4. VFR1200 vs. VFR800. Nuda 900R vs any air cooled Harley. 800 Duke R vs KTM 1090.

    They make maximum 1000 units per year of the R1M model.
    Its sad to see with every year the restrictions go op. My dad had a new 2003 R1 back then, and then got the new 2004 R1.
    That bike had 180hp on 180 kilo. Sadly he and my mom crashed and died riding it when I was 19. I miss the sound of all those 1000cc bikes every weekend at my house. The crash was at 80kmph, just a small oil patch and hey went into the railing. Their friends saw it happen. My dad started when he was 16 just like me. When he went on track days he always had marks on hit suit from the sick lean angle, and always smiled when he told me most people have those marks on the kneepads from sticking out their legs. He had those marks on his ankle and shoulder. He told me the tires really show how fast you go trough turns, the edge of the tire is not lighter, but same colour, because that part is actually being used. Man they would have loved these new R1 and R6 models. Be safe out there guys! You never know when its your last ride...

  • @petersafwat8228
    @petersafwat8228 2 роки тому

    Dude, the R1 has a cross plane crank yes
    The C8 ZO6 has a flat plane crank that's why it revs like mad and sounds like a Ferrari 458 V8 engine
    Lamborghini uses a custom crank because a flat plane or a cross plane only applies to 4 and 8 cylinder engines as any more or less cylinders would mean the amount of cylinders divided by 360 would yield a smaller or bigger number than 90° or 180°.
    Therefore only V8 and 4 cylinders engines (inline 4 or V4) can have a flat or a cross plane crank.
