Im in the phillippines.

Papa Yam ain't about that reckless 150 on the highway life. He keeps it at a cool, responsible 107.
Big difference tbh but yeah it’s hard to not speed a little bit on a liter bike 🙃
Lmao me too expect I got an R3 so I’m balls to the wall because that’s pretty much h top speed
He right, my cbr1k just chills at 110-120 like I'm going 40. Don't even notice at all
Wasn't always like that, as I'm sure you'll know.
Truth! Just put it in 6th gear and cruise around 110mph
People get an R1 for the same reasons people get a sportster. They like the way it makes them look and they like the song that it sings.
Except the sportster guys are wrong
What about track day bois and grrls and knee drag bois and grrls? What about the people that want to look around and be faster then just about anything they see. Not everyone wants to commute on their bikes.
They can also be a drug dealer.

Yammie Nannie "its really easy to ride"
Me as a beginner "... im getting an r1"
actually its not a problem at all, when i start practice bikes, i use my brother HD Sportster 1200cc. Now, my first bike is MV agusta brutale 1099RR. As long as you ride with care and know your limit, its not a problem at all.
Bagas Agung Hmm. My first bike was a 05’ ZX10 in 2008. It was what was offered for a trade and I took it. I loved it. I survived obviously but, I was scared to death when on city roads. On backwoods roads, it was a dream. I sold it before I ever became confident with it.
Not everyone's mature enough for a big bike as their first bike. Not everyone's not.
But hey, what do I know? I started on a 650 about 6 months ago.
@@bagasagung1097 It's actually pretty damn stupid. The bike isn't going to "respect your limits" because the bike is gonna do whatever the fuck the rider tells it to and the margin for error for a newbie on a liter bike is next to nothing. Dumb to get such a powerful bike and spend so much time being scared of it and dropping it
My first bike r1 still killin the game !!!

It's rude to make fun of people with Synesthesia. Which Yammie clearly has.
I bet if you just looked at it...
😹😹 that was funny hehe we all do that at times
Bottom line: people who want to feel awesome. Cause the R1 is awesome. Screw logic and reason.
I love how Yammie acknowledges the emotional aspect of choosing a motorcycle.

Went around a pretty hard curve at 156 on my R1 a few years back and it was the scariest/best thing I've experienced. The R1 will keep you stuck to the pavement. Such a great bike.
Riding an R1 gives that feeling of getting away with something you're not supposed to literally all the time. Take corners faster than everybody else. Smoke everybody and run from cops like it's a stroll on the beach. Your throttle is a literal time machine.
You can punch up to a five star wanted level on a liter bike effortlessly.
Mph or kph?

Poppa Yams. Love your video. I do like the new R1, but the one I cherish is a 2005 Ravin. I chose the 1000cc only because it fit me better .It was between the R1 and the 04 GSXR1000. When the Dealer called me in, the sly devil had my bike broadside at the front door as I walked in. I was in love. It wasn't the thought of how fast it was or what I thought other people thought. I was the feel of the bike. I may not have been an unfit individual due to being in the service when i purchased it, but at 6' and 220, I still kind of look like a circus bear on a bicycle. None the less, it felt right. Now, at age 54, she still makes me laugh while scaring the 💩 out of me. Props to you Mr. Yams for keeping us informed. Young and old...er. Stay safe Sir.
Love my 06 Raven R1, gotta let er rest, and remember, I have 3 others that need to be ridden.
@yammienoob you’re absolutely right about getting a bike for how it makes you feel. Lots of haters for the Gixxer life, but I recently bought my GSX R 600 and love the way it makes me feel on it. The look and feel of the bike is like it was meant for me. Thanks for the great video!
Gsxr are dead no one rides those anymore it’s not 2005/2006 anymore
primo sparazza my homie rides a 2011 gsxr750 😜 granted when we met I hated him because I thought he was just a gixxer bro 😂 Turned out to be a good dude. When I was new to riding I wanted a gsxr750 so bad but I just didn’t have enough experience to know what I really wanted. Once I did I got my 2018 cbr1krr and I love it to death. And I’m grateful to get the chance to have my dream bike since most people don’t get the opportunity 🙏🏻

Nah, I was a car guy first. Liked real high performance cars, the kind of things that get locked in some rich guy's garage.
Then I started getting in to tuners which were still too expensive to get good power from, and they like to explode, then I started getting in to motorcycles.
I already have an appreciation for cars, want the S1000RR to match the E46 and the CBR1000RR to match the NSX.
I adore the Austin Racing exhaust for the R1, gives it a nice mean sound. Maybe it's just me, but clapped out and fucking loud bikes are amazing.

I think the major consideration before buying an R1 for street use is insurance cost, which is prohibitively higher here than for a 600cc. Call your insurance company for a quote before buying an R1.

If you think about it moto GP is basically just really competitive scooter racing.
My first liter bike is an 09 R1 and I love it, mostly stock except a few covers and clip ons and then i did everything in carbon, basically just some aesthetic stuff but mechanically it is more bike than I will ever use as stock already but its fun as hell. Here in LA I get to use that power at every stop light, gets up to speed immediately and it still excites me every damn time lol. I went with the generation that i love the looks of and because it has no rider aids, just a 3 stage power setting so that I cpuld learn to control it, will be getting a new gen one this next year and cant wait.
Its certainly not a daily commuter I had one, a 2000 model, so did my friend at the time. After work, (he was a waiter) his favourite party trick was wheeling over the crossroad traffic lights, boy could he pull that bike up with skill and ease, way more talent on two wheels than I would ever possess. My last wheely was in 1977, I went through the large glass window of a newly built ice skating centre and learned my lesson. Stay on two wheels. Anyway one day his luck ran out wearing only his waiters white shirt, and black trousers he went straight on into a pickup truck.
His head went much further down the road than his bike or body.
I felt sick for ages I still kept on riding, and have moved forward but I can say it’s to focused for anything other than exhilarating riding.
You don’t get a bike like this to be slow on.
I'm jealous of you dude, now I wanna go buy one! looks like fun,

So the ONLY type of person is say, lots of folks. 😅 Super helpful to hear you say its forgiving, easy to ride casual, and manageable as a weekender. Yeah it's more than capable track-side, but the "left & right side of the brain" as far as reliable, reasonable maintenance costs, beautiful looking sounds, it checks a lot of my boxes. I'm coming from a 996 desmo Ducati and they can have those maintenance intervals and costs.

Never watched your channel only watched a few moto vloggers really but ima sub to you, your a cool guy 😎
Having rode my first liter bike last month S1000RR I debate about getting a liter bike eventually to ride around daily. An then dedicate my ZX6R to mainly track days. Does it make any sense aside from I fit a little better on it being a bigger guy. Absolutely not especially for the street except for two points. When in the back roads I won’t be at as high rpms to annoy nearby houses. But other than that supersports just make me happy. In my early 20’s I had to give up racing cars for personal reasons. An now at 34 and having a mortgage (grateful), a car is just too expensive to build, maintain, and store. Being so passionate about racing is why I got into Mechanical Engineering. Not being involved at all in motorsports really made me depressed deep down. That’s why I tell people owning supersports is not the smartest choice especially for the street or for your safety. But for me the feeling I get is that important to me. I don’t want to become the next Rossi. I just want to be Ross the guy that works on and tracks cool bikes. That also screams at the sky when stuck in traffic or doing long trips on his supersport. Let me suffer in peace!!! Haha
Takes (for me at least) 4k - 5k to get fully comfortable with a new 1000. I'm currently on the 19 CBR 1000RR and I have 6500+ on it now and I can comfortably rail that thing out confidently (slow learner I guess). I'd love to try an R1. I've rid one but haven't lived with one yet. That or a s1000rr.. Oh but that new 20 SPrr-r Fireblade looks good... I don't get those brand loyal tards. I love them all.
what a coincidence...I just searched Yamaha r1 and there you are on the search result and just 2 hours ago...or destiny.

Awesome videos dude. I’ve watched your channel since the day I signed up for my MSF course in March . I finally pulled the trigger on an MT-07, and I couldn’t be happier. With that being said, I routinely find myself looking at other bikes (R6, Monster 821, GSXR). So much so, that I feel like I’m cheating on my new bae ( The M+1 factor is in full effect) . My favorite lie thus far is, “I will only drive fast in my car” which I constantly think about as I am rip thru around town at “highway speeds.” I find every excuse to be on my bike and consequently I put 500 miles on it innthe first week of ownership. Thanks!
"You just have to look at it,, would you just look at it?? Oh I'm low on gas would you just look at that" 🤣 brought out your inner bassmaster
I always thought about this I ride a 600...do you need anymore power than this if you aren't racing ?
The answer is no
Just cause it goes faster in a lower gear doesn't really mean anything i mean it tops out at 200mph...if you're not going to the track thats useless because I hope to god you're not riding like that on the street
14:18 “but you like the way the big truck makes ya feel 🍤” 😂
Excellent perspective on the 1000cc super bike class and what “needs” they fulfill!
I bought my 1k cuz it looks friggin sick and the bang for buck was mind blowing.
I've found a loophole, I ride an Fz1, slower than an R1, but fast enough to maintain some semblance of hooligan activities, while convincing the insurance company you are sport touring at the speed limit😉
These are my reasons for an R1; I don't care what people think, I'm not Rossi, don't want to feel like Rossi, I need to feel like myself. I want the R1 because it's difficult, because it's challenging, because I can be alone. Won't get into my portfolio, don't feel the need to rationalize or justify. For me it's a very private, personal matter.
Great bikes & quite awesome to tour on if you set it up for yourself. I am on my 3rd R1 💯
I got the R1 because of the electronics. Traction control, wheelie control, turning traction control, abs. It was a quick way to ride at a higher level without hundreds of hours on a bike. If 600s had all the electronics and all the rider mode options I would of just gotten one of those. Definitely was a weekend toy and was able to work on it myself confidently. Only thin I would say is the insurance is high if you are still in your first year of riding.
Exactly the opposite, of the reason I love my 06, Raven ,R1. At 66, ride it daily, enjoy raw, no tech rider assist. But...then again, my first bike was a 71 R5b, 350 2 stroke Yamaha. Look those up. How I lived through that, not sure.😂
Once yammie became a track boy he uses track lingo all the time
I feel super cool watching you ride this motorcycle.
Sweet sound for sure!👍
I think further to papa yams comments on buying decisions, the limited editions of these bikes make even more of a compelling case. I brought a second hand R1M that I daily ride, and it’s lovely. Full Ohlins, carbon fibre this and that, lightweight wheels etc. Will I ever push the bikes limits? Absolutely not. But outside of a Grom, how many bikes can you push on the road?
Arrow exhausts sound so good. I have one on my ZX6R and ZX10R and I love them.
